1.
Try saying this after you've read more than the first volume since forming an opinion on less than 10% of a series isn't really accurate. Saying Ranma does it better is meaningless since you yourself have already admitted that you only read the first volume of DNAngel. How can you say the romance and action scenes are boring when you haven't even read most of them? You've read volume one, well come back and talk after[/I'] you've also read 2-10.
I've only read volume 1 of Ranma 1/2 as well, so they're really tied in that respect. I've always meant to buy volume 2 of Ranma, but I never got around to it. And in any event, I think it's time I dropped out of this arguement, for the sole reason that I have no desire to read any more of DNAngel XD
  2. First of all, I don't even know what the words 'trite' or 'hackeneyed' mean. Secondly, i don't think cliche is something that calls 'opinion' into action - cliche is 'fact'. There is no debate over wether something is cliche - if it's been done a bunch of times than it is cliche. More specifically, most would define cliche as something that has been done before better, and in that case it would be an opnion, but I think my, like, 8 freaking posts have made it obvious that that isn't how I think of the word cliche. Second, is it just be, or are you ignoring what I'm saying and crawling up your own ***? I'm not suggesting that a lot of people read XxXHolic and DNAngel, I'm telling you and the fact that you still want to say tat not so many people read them proves my point. Just looking around this very sight you can see that it's true! We have a DNAngel and XxXHolic thread right here on these boards! both of which have a significant number of replies considering the size of these boards. I can go to a bigger site and look at a couple hundred people's lists of their favorite shows and at least 10-20% of the replies will have one or both of these shows on their list. I know there are other people who read XxXHolic because I borrowed the volumes I read from a kid in my Japanese class. I know of other people who have probably read it, and I damn sure know some people who have read DNAngel (i think i know someone who talked about cosplaying as a character, i can't remember -- I tend to tune them out when they start on about nekocon.) When you consider that there's probably plenty of people who I don't know who go to my school that read manga, since I doubt I've spoken to more than 1/20 of the kids at my school. That's only one school, and when you consider how many schools ther are in America, the chances of there being more than a handful where absolutely no one has read XxXHolic or DNAngel is frighteningly small. In the internet world, both series are immensely popular - especially beacuse of CLAMP's influence, and the countless DNAngel yaoi fanfiction. The fact that both series have been produced in America to a major extent is further evidence of this fact. It's downright foolish to think of either series as indie in the manga world. As for your wanting examples of other similar anime, let me reach into my magic bag. Now remember kiddies, we're talking about elements here. As I said before, there's no such thing as a story with the exact same thing as another unless it's a remake, but as far as the elements of the story go... 1. Ranma 1/2 - Ah, Rumiko Takahashi's classic. Let's see... like DNAngel, the main character undergoes a transformation - in this case from male to female, that causes him problems. Now, it's not the exact same as having 2 people in you, but it has a similar effect on the story. Both implement romance and comedy together, using action as a sort of minor factory to drive the story along. Both involve complex love... shapes (too many lines >_
  3.
I have no doubt that eight will be plenty. After all, I feel DB[/COLOR'] quite capable of interpreting the eight rules so as to best . . . amuse himself. Am I right?
As I just told Rach via PM, I promise it will be a major surprise when it happens. The only hint I will give is that all of them are things considered worthless toward their survival and/or endangering toward it. More specifically, things that a utopian society would not allow.
  4.

Little Kids / Middle Schoolers: they think they rule the world or something wearing their masks of "cool", "innocence" and "indifference", and it really irritates me when they cry. -___- [especially in church]

I agree. Personally, i am overly experienced with younger people. I swear to god every person i've ever run into who was younger than me has mannaged to look up to me, some almost instantly (I know many of you just got this overwhelming sense of fear toward our younger generation XD). Whenever my parents go to a party at one of their friends' house, i ALWAYS end up entertaining the mass of little kids, and i always end up the center of every little game they come up with. I guess it's just cuz I understand how they think better than a lot of people. I think most parents don't know what the hell they're doing with their kids, so when they run into someone like me who treats them as an equal, they flock to me, lol. But even though they worship me, i hate the little buggers!!! First of all, they are increadibly violent! I guess they think that because I'm afraid to kick their *** in front of their parents, they think that i'm their little ***** or something. I always have like five kids wailing on me with lightsabers or some other freaking painful-*** toy weapons that their retarded parents bought them with out thinking about it. Not only that, but they think their the smartest people in the world and that they have no reason to listen to you even when you're being serious. They always laugh and give you that, 'haha ***** I rule you!' look. then you throw em' into the pool and when they start crying, guess who looks like the jackass?!?! Anyway, that was distracting, since I opened this page about something entirely different >_< People in school hallways. I only have one thing to say to you '****ing pay attention!!!' And i'm not talking about people who walk slow - you can just go around them. i'm talking about the bastards who walk in a horizontal lie and talk to each other while they walk through the hallway. Because 80% of the time they are completely anaware of their surroundings. These are eople who are so freaking stupid that unless you put special effor tinto dodging them , they will run directly into you. If you are walking in the opposite direction down the hallway and one of these man-walls is coming toward you, you have to strategically move in a way that you will get all the way around the wall quick enough before they get too close. Sometimes you might just walk out of a classroom and a wall coming aross the edge will be too long to get around in time. You have to walk n the same direction as the wall, moving to the side as you walk before turning around after you've reached the edge of the wall. These people are just as bad when yo're behind them. They're pacing is awkward cux one of them keeps stopping, and even if they merely miss a step, the rest of the wall momentarily freezes to compensate. On top of that, beacuse there are people coming from the other direction it is a task to try and move around them cuz they're taking up the whole hallway. Nothing is worse than being in this situation with a slow-moving wall and you're trying to get to lunch. As a result I usually burn the hallway to a crisp when i head for lunch. On B-days (block schedule) it's not problem because my class is right beside the cafeteira. But on A-days it's on the other sid eof the school and I will haul ungodly *** to get t that lunchroom at the front of the line. I don't have time to **** around, I want to get in line quickly, and I want to eat my damn lunch  as a result of me doing this, two other kids from my Japanese class have turned it into a game. On every single A-day we have a race to see who can get into line first. I tell you right now, we piss off countless people every single time. Over the course of the past two years I have perfected the art of crowd-sharking as I like to call it, and I use a delivery bag style backpack which gives me a slight advantage because I can use it to throw my weight. Even when my friend tries to pull on it to knock me off balance, he can't do it right. If I see a man-wall and no way to move around it I will stright-up just run right between them.
  5.
And did Digitalboy just manage to write a huge essay on what he eats for lunch!?
It's interesting that this comes as a surprise. Not only because I'm a bored person who exists for the sole purpose of posting on message boards - let's ignore that for now. I think we take lunch for granted - or if that's the wrong turn of phrase, then we don't pay much attention to it. I mean think about it, most people eat lunch every day, most of the days of your life. That's a lot of damn lunches! i mean, lunch is obviously important to our culture. There' snot a person I've ever met who didn't know what lunch is -- and I'm sure that goes for most countries around the world. the time in which we eat lunch may vary, as well as what we eat, but lunch is a subject that practically everyone is versed in. That's why i thought to create the topic - everyone knows lunch. Everyone was an opinion on lunch. No one has to think hard to tell me about lunch. As a person who used to eat the exact same lunch every single day, I kind of have a complex toward lunches. I'm interesten in what people's general view of lunch is. Do you consider lunch important? Do you give any thought to it at all? I mean, I can think of plenty of people who can't remember anything they ate for lunch for the past week, and others who can recount every meal. Me, for instance, other than that I ate a chili dog at least one day last week and I think a chicken patti, I can't remember anything I ate for lunch last week. meanwhile if I asked my younger brother, I know he'd be ablle to tell me about his meal each day of the week. Lunch isn't like breakfast and dinner. Those two are too highly varied. I've seen threads about them all the time. I could talk to a group of people and all of them would give me different answers. There could be four people -- one guy doesn't eat breakfast and he eats dinner at 8 PM (that guy would be me, lol), the next guy eats cereal for breakfast every day and dinner at 4 PM because his parents are always home and his mom's a cook so she has an obsession with feeding her kids, the next guy grabs a pop-tart as he walks out the door and eats with his family at 6 PM, while the last fellow always cooks himself eggs and bacon when he gets up at 5:30 and in the late afternoon he fixes himself some kind of cuisine. You don't hear this conversation about lunch all that often, though, so I can't help but be curious. Are we all really that like-minded toward lunch? Do we all just think that everybody eats lunch the same way, and therefor doesn't talk about it? I've got to know what lunch means to other people.
  6. Some people eat lunch. Wether you eat at school, bring your lunch, eat at work, bring, buy, eat at home -- some people even eat lunch on the weekends. So now I have some questions... 1. Do You Eat Lunch? If so, how do you usually procure it? 2. What did you eat for lunch today? 3. Do you plan ahead for lunch on further days? 4. Have you ever had a lunch date? How did it go? As for me... 1. For the past 3 years I always brought my lunch to school, though nowadays I've been a consecutive buyer for the past school year. When I used to bring lunch, there was always a formula. One sandwhich/main course (every once in a while it might be leftover pizza or something), a fruit (applesauce almost always), a snack (something like a ho-ho or some other thing - I started leaving it out at some point) and my drink, which was anything from a Kool-Aid Jammer or Capri-Sun to an applejuice box. Now that I buy lunch, though, it's been different. For the entire first half of the year i got a cheeseburger every single day. I've always been a fan of school burgers, and i once ate one of them in a single bite (to this day I consider it one of my life's greatest accomplishments). About 6 months ago, though, i quit burgers alltogether, inside and outside of school. now i almost always get the daily special, and surprisingly there is actually a lot of good stuff served that I didn't know about. On the occasion that it's something gross like fish or pasta shells, I always stick with the chicken patty, though. The only time I will ever eat pizza from school is when they are having a Pizza Hut day. I've never understood why people enjoy the school's pizza - not only is it freaky looking but the sauce and cheese are both disgusting. Of all the lunches they give out, the best is probably chili dogs. I could live off of chili dogs. The nachos would be tied if they gave you more damn meat on them... 2. Today is Saturday (well, at this point it's Sunday, but I'm setting that aside) so I didn't really eat much. On your average Saturday I wake up anywhere between 10 and 12 in the morning, which if it was a school day would already be around the time I'd be eating lunch. There are a lot of times where I eat things at various points in the day before reaching dinner, but usually not a meal and I usually don't pay attention to eating it as i would lunch. sometimes on the weekend I'll purposefully make something particularly good to eat just to eat down and suconsiouly think of it as lunch. For some reason, this always makes me very happy when I do it. Since on some weekends I stay up till around 5 AM on Friday o Saturday, i usually eat something really good around 2:30 to 3:30 and sometimes I decide to call it lunch for no good reason. I guess it's more like 'fourthmeal', whatever the hell that is. 3. I'm not entirely sure if many people actually do this, but you never know. I know a lot of staty at home moms do this kind of thing where they plot what they are going to cook on a certain day or something. Also, i know that when I was in elementary school they always gave us a 'lunch calendar' where it told you the menu for the next month. I never really watched it, but I know a lot of people who do. I think that when I live on my own, i will make a special point to decide my lunch for the next coming days ahead of time. 4. I've never been on any eating date, but I know that a lot of people do them, or at least the TV would lead me to believe such. I've never heard of anyone doing it while still in like high school or anything, though, so i'm curious as to if people actually do it. (Wow. Big post about lunch O_o)
  7.
*shrug* I'm up for whatever. Wouldn't be the first time I've woken up engaging in [strike]beastiality[/strike] inter-species erotica before... Sometimes I think that the rich hate me and just rent me so they can **** with my system. Woke up once covered in napalm jell-o (some people have the ****itiest fetishes!); try figureing that one out! 9.
I wouldn't be so worried about being Bush's unknown offspring... what about poachers coming after my rare horn? Ever since Harry Potter came out, people have been thinking that unicorn blood can heal you! Well, I don't know about you, but people chasing after me with sharp objects puts a damper on my day of frolicking in the field. :(
I feel for you as well! If you're ever near the sea, just yell 'SEADUUUUUDE!!!' and I'll send an octupus to give you a hug. I'll be sure to make sure it's a nice octupus, and not one of those bastards with the hooks. It'll heve to be a girl octupus, too. If it were a guy octupus it might get excited and squirt ink all over you, which would totally ruin that pretty mane of you, and that would be badd. Perhaps you, I, and Bush's bastard son could all have a teaparty in the dragon's triangle. Also, Prem, I hate you for making me look up 'moray'
  10.
She was saying that her taste was weird and depending on what she normally likes that may be true you know. ;) I think you read to much into that statement. Since for all you know, her tastes may be completely different so for her those manga may be weird because it's not what she normally likes. There's also the factors of what's popular among one's friends or the area they live in, etc. So if you consistently like stuff that others don't it's going to seem weird to you even if it isn't. The question of whether or not it really is weird is irrelevant if you think about it. Where I live, there are quite a few people who think anyone who likes anime in any form is weird and a pervert, a sex offender as well as a delinquent who needs a life. It doesn't make it true though. lol
Ah yes, I can see this, and that's exactly why i made that post, in an attempt to be informative. That's why i said to spend more time on the internet -- here you can find out exactly what is popular, and what is well-received, and you will learn about more series so that you can identify that a series is cliche. The reason for the post to begin with was that i was under the impression that she really did think her taste was weird, and that she didn't know that the manga was cliche, and so i was saying 'hey, check it out, you've got stuff to learn.' I may not have worded it very well, for that I apologize. I didn't mean to be offensive, but it's in my nature I guess XD. As for your alternate explanation for the word 'weird' being used, i guess i can see that. It isn't a way I would use the word, but then I speak in terrible broken English XD
  11. I still have yet to see Hot Fuzz, and as a huge fan of Shaun of the Dead, i really want to see that damn movie! SotD did have the advantage of being a zombie movie, and I happen to be obsessed with zombies, but I've heard a thousand good things about this movie and i have faith in the directors and actors. I still haven't seen TMNT yet, which is important. I will probably end up seeing Pirates of the Carribean 3 at some point. I liked both of the first two, but i was never a huge fan. i think the second one ruined both for me. It's battle scenes were so good that it made the first movie's bad, but the first movie's story was so much better than the second, that it made the second one bad, so i really can't stomach either at this point, especially since they're so damn long. I will probably end up seeing Spiderman 3 too. Spiderman has never been my favorite superhero, and the crappy melodrama of the movies always threw me off, but they weren't all that bad anyway. Evan Almighty has to be good. i know my brother will want to see it, since he used to be obsessed with Bruce Almighty. i know it's not Jim Caarrey, but the replacement is just as good, if not funnier :p Also, Rush Hour 3. Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan never gets old, even though most of the recent Jackie Chan movies sucked, so we'll see how it goes.
  12.
ROBOT CHENEY DESTROY BASTARD BUSH CHILD
See, that's exactly what I mean! I feel for you, Premoonition. You ever in a pickle and happen to be near the ocean, just scream 'SEADUUUUUUDE!!!!!' And I'll send an army of baracuda to your aid.
  13.
My experiance is from reading through volumes 1-10. And recommendations are only good if it's the type of series you like after all. lol There's plenty of well liked manga's that I find boring, like Naruto or Bleach. I hate action manga since I prefer to see it animated instead of reading it. But that's personal preference, not an indication that the manga is bad. And cliched? Again, it's pretty damn hard to find something that isn't cliched and even then, done before still doesn't mean boring or uninteresting. If you don't like it, it certainly isn't going to bother me any. Or rather it won't change my opinion of liking it. Since your take on it is still your opinion and not an indication of whether or not it really is as bad as you portray it to be. ;)
I feel the same way, and yes, it's true that it is near impossible to not be cliche thee days -- which is why i was saying that being cliche isn't a bad thing. Just because something is good doesn't mean it isn't cliche, and that's the point i'm arguing - and it's an arguement I've been in plenty of times, though I'm glad that you are the first who understands what I mean. And yeah, it's true that something being reccommended doesn't matter, but my friends at the time were really into that kind of thing, and back then I was looking for nothing but romance stories and Naruto - that was basically it. I'm willing to admit, I used to be a huge Naruto fan, I have more volumes of Naruto than anything else (11). back then, cliche didn't matter to me, and I still hated DNAngel, though that's against the point. how popular or how original something is has nothing to do with wether you like it or not. If you like nothing but CLAMP and Shounen Jump manga, for instance, that's your own perogitive (sp?) but at least admit that you aren't 'weird' for liking them. THAT's the part that set me off.
  14.
****, I'm screwed. If you must know I'm Pres. Bush's secret son, Jeff Bush. I hope this doesn't interfere with my OB life, DBd on't kill me!
I'm not going to hurt you, dude. I think it would suck *** to be Bush's son. I mean, you'd be completely ostracized, and there's death threats against your dad all the time. Every site you go to there's ads for games where you kill your own father. You have to deal with your dad being a ********, and the only attention you've ever gotten was from seccret service babysitters. Plus your grandma is trying to condition your mind into a political madman - hell, it's no wonder you're so screwed up! and you have to deal with your sister regressing from the family and going out to get ****** up. Life would be terrible, I'd guess.
  15.
Are you talking about the anime or the manga here? Since there's a world of difference between the two. The manga is quite a bit better than the show and has yet to even finish. If you're talking about cliched, in my opinion the actual show is far more into that role than the manga is. Which by the way is far from boring and does have some unique qualities to it. :p Even the romance as you put it is a bit different since in the anime only Diasuke
has a sacred maiden where in the manga both of them do.
How about you actually get those examples you are talking about? Since done before doesn't necessarily mean cliched. Also, the 'master thief' bit isn't the main story here, the issues due to Krad/Dark
being from the same dark art is.
If you don't want to insult people, quite being so abrasive and calling things 'boring' or 'cliched' based on your personal opinion. And stop being an *** as you put it. :p It's not necessary to respond to someone's post just to make assumptions about what they think that aren't correct. Nor is it necessary to announce, oh by the way, what you like is cliched and boring. Which is what you sounded like in that post of yours.
As said before, I was only responding to the idea that she had a weird taste in manga in my first post. I will be the first to admit that I am often an elitist prick when it comes to anime and manga -- hell I have made a passtime out of calling people 'Narutards' and laughing at them to their face. But in my first post, the only remark I made was that XxX Holic was good - it just didn't supercede cliche. That's not even outright calling it cliche. But if you try to say that they aren't cliche at all, I'm going to testify against it, because I find both series to be fairly cliche. As for DNAngel, I will admit my only experience with it was volume one of the manga, which I bought around a year and a half ago. Everyone was giving it all these reccommendations, and I decided to check it out. I thought it was boring, not funny, the heist scenes sucked, the love story was unrealistic and cliche, the characters were uninteresting, and that it was all-around double plus ungood, plus it never really got anywhere. It had it's first plot twist before it had even become interesting, and I couldn't bring myself to care enough to look at volume two. As for XxX Holic, I've read the first 4 which my friend let me borrow, and I thought it was really good, and I plan on buying it at some point.
  16. DNAngel is VERY cliche. It is made up of four general plotpoints. 1.) a romance story, but you said it has nothing to do with it, so I'll leave that out. 2.) A kid who tranforms into an older guy, which has been done before (if you want, I could go find some examples) 3.) the whole 'master theif' thing, which I think was pulled off terribly since the heists are probably the most boring part of the story. and 4.) a love triangle/square/pantagon/whatever shape you feel describes it. I can't see anything unique about it. XxX Holic is actually pretty cool -- mind you by calling it cliche, I'm not insulting it, beacuse I think it does what it does very well, and I find it very enjoyable. The biggest part of the cliche is probably in the characters, who aren't original at all, but that's okay because they do well in the surrounding world. Now, the whole 'wish-granting store' bit has been done time and again, both in Japanese works and in American ones -- once more, not to say that XxX Holic doesn't do it well - it does - I' just saying it ain't the first time it's been done. I'm not saying either show is an exact carbon copy of something that's been done before - that's not what cliche is. Both plots draw from things that have been done before and combine them. DNAngel I think does it terribly, while XxXHolic got the magic touch of CLAMP. Now, what I was implying in my post is that you do not by any means have a 'weird taste in manga,' because if it was weird there wouldn't be so many people who read it, and there are a TON of people who read both. I wasn't trying to insult you - yeah I was probably quite a bit condecending, but that's just me being an *** XD
  17. Seaman's my father. I'm Seadude, jackass. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to make some dolphins get me some soda while I rape a seahorse. Chow.
  18. lol, yeah I always use Deoky as an example cuz I loved my other characters too luch. Anyway, in the Maze I believe it was only considered an introduction is it was the main guy in your post, so I'm sticking to that idea. And I'll surely posst the list afterward. I only hope someone runs into one of the 8 rules, so I can implement the punishment, heh.
  19. I'm glad the video was well-received! It was the biggest pain in the *** of all time, lol. I had to record it on my brother's mac, import it via disk to my mom's computer, the original video didn't work, I downloaded a trial of DivX and created the video, synched it to the soundclip, and then waited for all the sign ups so that I could complete the sideshow. Not easy, but I really love how it turned out. Voice masking FTW. As for the imprisonment cards, it will kinda be a dual effort. The way I figure it is... well here's an example for you... ___ Just then, Deoky suddenly disappeared. Clavis stood there, stunned as his blow soared through the open air where moments ago the dark lord had stood. "Deoky Shilos. You have acted in a way that the CCC finds to be against their rules. For your crime, you will face a punishment of the Panopticon." These words came into Deoky's mind as he seemed to float in the middle of a nothing space. "Your sentence will last 95 hours by the CCC's time. For your crime, you will face trial 43." The open space surrounding Deoky suddenly was closed off as he appeared wihin a room. Deoky examined the area quickly, but there seemed to be nothing around. Suddenly, a lound thunk came from the wall, and before Deoky could react, four wooden stakes shot forth. instantly they connected with his arms and legs, blowing him back and piercing him against the wall. Deoky cried out as he was crucified against the wall. No matter how he struggled to use his powers, his attempts were fruitless. A surging pain was radiating through him, and he couldn't even move against it. After an hour of stuggling, the overloard hung his head and breathed steadily. The words '95 hours' floated through his head." __ So yeah, I will sort of specify where they are and the length of their sentence, but you can do whatever you want to the imprisoned character. For instance, lets say his bones have become weak, his arms might end up falling, and the stakes could rip right through, possibly tearing his arms off. As a result, he'd probably fall to the ground, tearing off his feet by the ankles. If you want, you could even make more stuff happen, like maybe he's on the wall and then spiders start flooding the room and crawling all over him. At that point, I think somebody would off him. Maybe he goes mad and just tears his own head off. It's all up to you :) the imprison card isn't really about tactics - it's just a way of throwing a fun little twist in. __ Now, as for the sheer amount of characters, it's true that it seems OMG at the moment. This is part of why there's three groups, though, because each individual group has even less characters than the maze. With nine death-card holders and the possibility of characters being erased, though, it could be down to like 16 by the end of round one, lol. As said before, this game plans on being longer and I have all these cards I'm ready to hand out, so it should work out okay. By the time we widdle down the list, stuff will be really intense. i agree that certain characters are much cooler than others, lol. I can't believe there were so many assassins -- I was laughing about it, and decided to put most of them in the same group. I'd like to see how that turns out, heh.
  20. The Panopticon Underground I am going to assume that you have read the opening post of the thread in the Arena before this one, and if you haven’t, go do so before reading this. As you can see, because having 30 characters in one group is simply crazy, I split it up into three separate groups. Each one has 10 pre-selected characters, though you don’t have to start them all off the same way group two started. I would prefer that the characters still see the video, but they can be in any sort of room you so desire (whichever two get to them first.) I’m not sure how your characters have been split up - the groups were chosen at complete random and the list was organized in a way that matches so that it is less confusing. For at least the first chapter, you should be able to reference the lists in the first post to find out where everyone is. Now, as you all know, in this game you can basically do whatever your sick imagination wants to, though there are some limitations that we are going to start with. First of all, the most important card in the game -- the all-important Death Card. Each round, each of you will receive one death card which you can use to kill whoever you so desire in whatever way you feel like. There are some restrictions for this chapter, though. Firstly, a character cannot be killed until they have been introduced. A character can be introduced by posting about them, basically, kind of like I just did with Moatilliata Graden. Also, no death cards can be used until each participant has posted once. If one of you nine hasn’t posted in 6 days, you will be stripped of your death card, all three of your characters will be erased, you will be removed from the game, and the killing will begin. Also, in the video/paragraph I mentioned the ‘penalties’ for not following the CCC’s orders. As discussed in the sign-up thread, I will not tolerate poor post quality. The sign-ups being extremely brief left me with no chance to examine your skill, so I accepted everyone. If I am disappointed, your death cards will be take, your characters will be erased, you will be removed from the game, and play will continue. Here, I would also like to explain the first of many secret cards that will be used in this game. In the Maze, it was lightly touched on that there was some sort of rule system that was kept hidden from the contestants but they were being forced to follow. The same applies for the Panopticon. I have a secret list of things that, when performed by a character, will cause the Panopticon to react. When a character is imprisoned, they will go into a sort of solitary confinement. There will be a set, real-time amount of time in which they will remain imprisoned. During that time, they will be subject to various psychological or physical correctional activities. When a character is imprisoned, they cannot be moved from their confinement until their sentence is over. It is possible for them to be killed while in confinement. Do not ask me about the hidden rules. I will not tell you anything.
  21. What is the Panopticon? [wiki] The Panopticon is a schematic for a prison based around a central tower where the wardens can keep constant watch over the prisoners without the prisoners ever knowing. In the words of the Panopticon?s original creator, Jeremy Bentham, it is "a new mode of obtaining power of mind over mind, in a quantity hitherto without example.? Over the centuries the ideas have evolved, especially with heightened technology such as cameras and monitors. Ideas of a Panopticon society began to bubble to the surface. A good example would be George Orwell?s 1984. The idea of a Panopticon society is one of a ?perfect? controlled society. It could be considered the ultimate idea of society for humans or human-like beings. It was only natural that some such thing would bubble to the surface when the ?best? of humanity underwent preservation. The thirty contestants will be broken up into three groups, each beginning in their own area of space. The distance between them, or whether they will ever meet is the whim of the Central Command Center. That would be -- you and I. Each group will consist of ten contestants who will begin their journey together in one room after having a moment to meet each other. The groups are split up as follows. GROUP ONE: Sastasha Sandares, Mary Winters, Damian Legion, Delilah Rousseau, Lucia Travera, Marcus Fenix, Claire Montoya, Marius Stratums, Katar Dakit, Meredith Taylor GROUP TWO: Moatilliata Graden, Desmond Sykes, Nadia Dylenda, Merik Jeffers, Brittany Cossentine, Kayrel Malone, Oromis Tu'wail, Julian Marx, Lillathica, Shilos Krieger GROUP THREE: Eliana Cedes, Uriel Blaine, Delita Lytle, Alcuin nó Prideux, Dafine Hecata, Eloris Renten, Etamet, Angela Godspeed, Penelope "Penny" Archess, Serena Scarlatti The Beginning -- Group Two Moatilliata?s memories didn?t add up. He was completely sure that only moments ago he had been standing over the throat of a castle lord which he had just neatly sliced open, but now he was suddenly standing in a large cube-shaped metal room. The room was devoid of anything save for a large screen that was flat upon the western wall. There was no shock for even a second in his mind - he had been trained heavily for this sort of situation. Perhaps he had fallen victim to the enemy?s trap. He looked down at the blade-glove he wore on his right hand. There was no blood, despite the gushing crimson he was sure he had seen pouring over the rolls of the fat emperor?s neck as the blade carefully slid across. His attention then came to something lying in the corner of the room behind him. An ancient, rotten corpse was lying against the wall. He had no choice but to approach it. The body was of a man in some sort of uniform -- he bore little resemblance to any person Moatilliata had ever seen. The assassin quickly examined the man?s clothes, but could find nothing on him. He removed one of the man?s boots. Taking it in his hand carefully, he turned and lunged it at the screen. There was no reaction, though. No traps activated, and the screen made no noise whatsoever. Just then, someone else suddenly appeared on the other side of the room. Like Moatilliata, he had the appearance of an older man, and from his instant reaction of complete acceptance of the surroundings, Moatilliata could tell that he was of a similar profession. The man was smoking a cigarette and placed it between his fingers just before turning to face the assassin. ?Oromis Tu?wail,? the man said. At first, Moatilliata was mildly confused. It sounded like nothing resembling a name to him -- the man seemed to be speaking a different language. This thought was discarded, though, as the man continued talking. ?Don?t suppose you know where we are, eh?? Moatilliata began to reply, but just as he opened his mouth, the screen suddenly flickered on, an image floating to the surface. ?Ladies and gentleman,? as the voice began to speak, a series of faces suddenly began to appear. "Welcome to Panopticon.? The faces flashed by one at a time at high speed as the deep, mechanical voice continued. ?You are amongst a group of experimental contestants brought here by the Central Command Center. Your goal is to escape the series of obstacles approaching. Many, if not all of you, are going to die. This is not a game. This is survival. How you survive is up to you. There will be penalties for those who act in a way that the CCC does not allow. Remember? we are always watching you. Looking in front of you, you will see a single door. You have 30 seconds before the room implodes. Choose your actions wisely. Survive.? The scene continued to play over and over in a loop as the next contestants arrived. OOC: Please read the Panopticon Underground before posting!
  22. Doing a lot of stuff all at once brings me instant gratification. i like to be busy at all times, ven if it's all frivolous things. When i get in a mood where I'm moving really fast and I run out of things to do, i'll just start pacing around the house listening to music or randomly start cooking grilled cheese just for the hell of it. this past week has been great because we had our exams and for 3 days i got to go in a couple hours late, plus the 2 days I had to do one I think I did really well. There were some times where i was a little down (or at one point extremely down) about how much my grades utterly suck and how much I hate my friends, but I made up for it by having fun and doing so good on this Geometry quiz I had to do today. I'd go more into detail if I hadn't already talked about it in my latest blog post... (points to sig). Mucho gracias.
  23.
And I'm sure you could have told us you don't like emo without sounding like an *** in the process DB. There's no need to be so abrasive since 'Best Music Artists' is subjective and an opinion only. And another thing, don't run words together to get around the swear filter. And following that line of thought, subjective opinion, mine that is...Though not new in the world of music, one of the best in my experience is Enya, having just become familiar with the album Watermark. With my favorite song in it being Orinoco Flow (Sail Away) I like the new age and Celtic themes and instrumentation. I also like how it has a ballad sound with the piano and vocal harmonies and symphonic synthesizer movements. I'm definitely going to go and get some more albums by this artist.
:O sorry, i didn't realize it wouldn't pick up on it in that one. My apologies. However, it was kinda obcious that I was talking about it that way on purpose. I know it's subject to opinion, and I'm only kidding, as shown by the thingy. It is true that I despise most emo, but it's not to say that I could never get into it. As i said, i like AFI, and they were among the forerunners of the emo invasion just a coupla years ago. i can even tolerate certain My Chem songs (I always liked 'the ghost of you', no reason why.) I just generally like to hate on emo, namely because of the culture that encompasses it. ***? Yes. But still just fooling around.
  24.
Usually I don't have issues, but if the video in question is too graphic. I won't finish it. I'm not into mindless gore and such. It's one thing to read it, but watch it? Meh. One other thing, did you hear from BKstyles? Since I don't recall you confirming that you got characters from them.
Yes, I got his, and mentioned it (post 20). And I'm not talking about graphic (i'm really squeemish myself), I don't heve those kind of skills XD. these are just things I'm experimenting with - I've set it up so that they are optional anyhow, just add to the experience.
  25.
2007DigitalBoy, try to avoid bashing genres you don't understand, not like Nomura really knows what he's talking about when he mentions "emo" either. Also, completely dismissing groups made of poor college musicians expressing themselves in a unique way, while glorifying a band that has a movie based off of them? That's just wroooong.
Tenacious D are GODS among men! Emo is a festering **** hole dug using the shovel-like hairflips of the squealy-voiced crotch-crushed face-painters. I'd sooner die than admit to liking an emo band. ... And AFI isn't emo, so :p XD Anywho, aside from Coheed And Cambria and the D, Nom has a terrible taste in music and should either go listen to something worthwhile or be forced to perform 'emo-decapitation' (a ritual in which I make the emo-kid cry through his eye-liner as i cut off hair hairflip) Anywho, I would also like to add the following honorable mentions - bands I really like but haven't heard enough of to feel i can judge them: Bad Religion, Mindless Self Indulgence, ENSIFERUM!, Shabutie, Pink Floyd, and Unearth. Now for some bands that i've heard a ton of and like, but not as much as previously mentioned bands: System of a Down (they actually should prolly get an article), AFI, GWAR, Red Sparrowes, Disturbed (as time passes I like them less and less), Linkin Park (new album ruined them in my eyes, lol).
