1.
It doesn't matter how long one is here; it's what one does with their time here that matters. Also, I don't know that I would call earnest warnings "patronizing."
okay, probably a bad choice of words, maybe I should say I've gotten into more trouble with her than anyone else, lol. EDIT: no, actually I think Arcadia is tied, but I haven't seen her around in a while. Is she still a mod?
 2. Wow, the plane has really thinned down, especially thanks to that there double death card. I think Darren still has a card too, right? Or maybe it's someone else... in any event I think the teleports have all been used (unless one of you still has one I don't know) it's hard to keep track >_
 3.
DeathKnight left out the tier of posters like him who make zanny lists poking fun at everything just to hide how lovable he/they truly are. :p And to make people like me just laugh and laugh when they read it. :3 And one other thing: *pulls out her mod rod and points it at 2007DigitalBoy* You heard him! Get to work on those rodents!
Yes, ma'am. After all, I do not even remotely trust you with that thing. :p Come to think of it, you have consistently been the simgle mod to patronize me at least 10 times more than any other in the total time I've been here, despite me having been here even longer than yourself. Kinda reminds me of those stories where some young businessman buys a company and fires the older workers for insufficiency, lol.
 4. Not that I deserve one, but I was bored and I've been reflecting on my OB past quite a bit recently. As a person who's been here almost 4 years, I'd say I've at least made a place for myself here at OB (even if that place happens to be the bottom of the food-chain, lol) Tical / 21st Century Digital Boy Tical first joined the OB several days before his 12th birthday on August 1st, 2003. He had first found the site in a search for anime forums with his cousin, who also signed up as Otaku_Samurai88. Almost immediately after joining he first began talking to Ryoko T.D.C., who shared his birthday, and Double B. Daigo (currently The Boss) who invited him to join his Trigun RP. Despite not signing up, he entered the RP and days later ended up ending it with the help of a member named Lone Bebop. After only a month on the boards and 500 posts, Tical made the mistake of unearthing several old threads without realizing that he wasn?t supposed to. This, combined with his tendency to use abundant caps while posting, got him banned. Tical fell back on his cousin?s profile, Otaku_Samurai88, while simultaneously controlling an account he created for his brother named MetalSonic700. Tical dreamed of becoming one of the respected members of the OB and so decided to try and up his post quality and try to concentrate on spelling things correctly in hopes of becoming part of Drix D?Zanth?s club for smart people. For reasons still unknown, the MS700 profile was abandoned (probably lack of password remembrance) and Tical took on his next account, Kyo No Ryu. Under the name Kyo No Ryu, Tical had quite a few friends, such as Annie and Chichiri?s Girl. He seemed to be obsessed with killing or something and participated in a few RPs, one of said experiences gained him the eternal hatred of popular member KKC. Due to some logout problems, and having lost both the password and email address used to create the account, he abandoned it, and created a sock puppet. After some apparently bad things being done, Tical earned himself an IP ban. Tical took a break from OB for a few months afterward? Then eventually reappeared as ThatOneOddDude (after having moved, which apparently does things to your IP or something?). The new profile was much more mature than the previous one, and for the most part all of his posts were concentrated in the Hardwired forum. Over time his name evolved into ThoraxtheImpaler. At some point, during a strange transitional period in his life, Tical started becoming more a member of the debate threads that often raged in the Otaku Lounge and was known for being fairly uneducated in his reasoning. His name became Hug_Monster due to said strange obsession, then to ? Nomad Tical ? after said obsession passed. During this time his posts became concentrated almost solely in the OB Anthology. Later his name would change back to Tical and then to Tical Blue. During this time his posts crossed all over the place, though they were mostly focused in the Music, Movies, and TV forum. Tical generally was viewed as one of the less-liked members and often yelled at for his violence toward Christianity and obsession with lesbianism. After another brake and transitional period, Tical decided to abandon his name because of the negative connotations attached both inside and outside of OB. He started anew as F.O.Y (Fluorescent Optic Yellow) in late 2006 (soon changing his name to 2006DigitalBoy and 2007 with the new year.) DB?s posting quality saw dramatic improvement as did his overall maturity level. In recent times he has had a lot of trouble with the moderators over his tendency to ?play mod? and has been threatened with being banned again. Tical/DB is mostly known for his utterly prolific posting and his sucking at debates. Currently he mostly teams up with Jakehammaren, his fellow metal-head, Blasé, his fellow lesbian, and Forgotten-Hero, who he considers his pupil and the only person anywhere near as disrespected as he is.
 5.
Huh? Now you've completely stumped me! Who are you again? So what? Is DB actually Tical!! If he is WOW! O_o! All this time... Weell I should have seen this coming the way he talks in his posts.
OMG come on! I'm the only person who ever critiqued your work1 I was the guy who insulted you horribly then apologized and then you became, like, my pupil or something because you really liked my porn story! You don't remember any of that?! In any event, yes, considering that I post in the same threads, talk about the same stuff, and my profile was created the same day as my last post on the old title, it was not like i was hiding it. Besides, the same IP -- the mods knew anyway. (i assume?!) By the way, Rifles, how in gods name did you remember my name?! And no, I have obviously not grown up since the exact same people hate me for the exact same reasons, lol. The only difference is I don't spam lesbian pornography and my posts are longer, heh. And while on the subject, Tical itself is apparently a hard name to figure out. I actually had the nickname 'tickle' on another board because people thought that was how it was pronounced. (it's ty-call, for those still confused). But I dropped that title prmanently, which is why I even made this account in the first place... EDIT: Adding on to all that, it must have at least been obvious that whoever this was, it was not their first account, since I frequently refer to a time before OB went dead -- a time long before this account was created. I've been here almost 4 years after all >_< Not to mention I'm the only person I can think of who's name so frequently is on the front page like 6 times at any given part of the day...
 6.
Now this one I like. it may not be all that gret, but it's better than the last.
Thanks... I guess? It must feel nice, being able to "shred my organs" for once, eh? :animesmil But that would be the reason I decided to create this thread in the first place. The only reason I critique most of the poems that come through here is because no one else seems to ever do it -- but it's not like I'm some expert. By showing you this stuff, that should be blatantly ovious, lol. In a way, i'm trying to humble myself XD Anywho, i wrote thee two during study block. I agree -- using big and/or made up words makes me an asshole. OH WELL. For any wondering (why are you?) 'Cacophonic' = Cacophany and 'Coagamation' = Coagulation + Amalgamation. Just 3 of my favorite words that all happen to have similar definitions. I personally really like the first one, the second one is a little iffy. Flood The Dreams With Usurping Telegrams My red eye has opened Toward remembrence unearthed Brief glimpses caught Of everything recorded since Time of cognition's birth Projects on back of my eyelids To play eternally So many times I've watched that scene A scene I have forgotten! 7.
I'm just cursing the fact that I can't figure out which characters belong to which players! Damn you all for being so clever with hiding them! Although I do have my suspicions... *shifty eyes* Ah well, so long as no one targets my characters, I'm safe. ;P
And adding onto that, at this point there are definitely players who have no characters left seeing as there are so few left living and I doubt it would be that each player has 1 character alive and 1 dead. I'd REALLY like to know who's got no one under their belt.
 8. i find it hilarius that Alden and Rebecca had sex. When I split the group up the first time, i put Alden and Lara together alone for the sole purpose of making them have a sex scene, but Alden was killed before i could. I'm glad someone made it happen, lol! Both Jennifer and Liam dead before I even got home from school! How is it that you guys went a whole day without anyone posting then all of you got in within a 7-hour preiod?! In any event, this party's getting crazy, and the evil guy seems to be really popular. i can't wait to have my turn with him, hehe...
 9. lol, the minute I saw the words 'hierchy of arguing' i new for sure I'd be in the bottom tier, maybe with F-H alongside, but wow, I get it all to myself! Cozy.
 10.
T...Tical? Is that you? Oh God, it's been so long! :')[/color']
I can't help but wonder how you of all people are the first one to say anything O_o
 11.
I like your poetry... But I like your newer work better. I see what you mean by grammer. It was hard to follow for me. Holy Crap! I know how you feel when you read some of my work! All in all for me it was an okay poem. But hey, we all have bad work sometime in our life. (it's not bad, just not as good as some other stuff of yours.)
I'm glad you think so, since I absolutely love most of my older work. I don't know why i thought this looked so good before I typed it here >_< afterword is when i realized it was going to get torn to shreds. But if you've read my old stuff, where the hell were your posts when I needed them?! In any event, here's this strange haiku... I really need to get his one thing over here but it's so long and i'll have to rewrite it then type it up here.. I'll do that tommorrow. There was another one that I was going to use as well, but I suddenly don't like it anymore >_< Below the Detachment Thorns against your skin Peel it back, let's see your truth Watch your blood seap down Melancholy green Where nothing is found serene I have found my home Here where crimson streams A thicket of my demise Here where others reign My own mind; not mine Some else's entertainment Let nature take hold Feel my body rot This forest is growing fast Won't find a way out.
The only critique I can give is for you to read your own critique on Forgotten Heroe's first poem.[/color']
I knew for a fact someone would say that, lol
 12. EDIT: I forgot the rating!!! GAHH!!!!! If possible, could [T-L] be added to the title?!
Done though since we don't have a T for teen rating I used the PG instead since it's the same thing. ~indifference
Feeling like I'm critical of everyone else without letting them be critical toward me, i decided to post some of my own mediocre poetry! In the past, most of my stuff has gone completely without acknowledgement (so much typing lost T_T) But hopefully one of you is willing to reply! I'm totally in need of decent criticism! So, here's my first piece. It's about death or zombies or something like that. You decide. It was originally intended as a song and only when converting it to regular format did i realize all the grammar problems >_< Intellect (Comes to Nothing) The voice of death speaks to us all Who lay upon this frozen soil. It sings to us in icy sighs. We rot and die; wither and spoil. Where do we go with the time we have gained? The lives we aquired now empty and drained. The intellect is far from our souls. We are without a path; we are without the controls. The chill of the night, it blankets the world. When we rise from the ash, we are fated to fall. It all capsizes the moment we begin. In the end we die like we were never at all. Where do we go with the things we have learned? With these minds left so blank, should we be more concerned? The alleys of life left too dark to explore; We fall through the hole when we open the door.
 13. O_o wow. I think... yeah, I actually like whatever the hell that is (poem? short story? collection of three paragraphs?) in any event, very nice. I enjoyed reading this. I got an image in my head, I followed it along, and I found it enjoyable. I never thought I'd say this but -- great (whatever the hell it is) F-H!
 14. Oh dear, sweet lord. Firstly, my name happens to be Conrad. (in fact, for those who hat typing my whole name, I don't mind if you call me this, or DB as some have come to do). I have two brothers with the names Shade and Victor. I am not Russian. no, it's not 'that thing like in the military.' NO my dad is NOT a soldier. No, not Comrade. NOT Comrat. No, C-o-n-r-a-d, curse you! What's that? You say that you always thought it was 'Comrade' until you saw it on paper while you were handing back quizzes? Well, that makes you ignorant. Yes, i've corrected you five times now. Please refrain from screwing it up again!!! Oh, and you are NOT the first one to come up with the nickname Cornbread, and I am WELL aware that my name backwards is the strangely humerous 'Darnoc.' No. I should NOT change my name to Darnoc!!! Sorry about that. I've been to 12 different schools - every time getting every last drop of the above paragraphs. And dear god, don't get me started on Shade. It's always Shane, or on roll sometimes 'sha-day'. It doesn't help that he looks like a girl to most people so they don't get it when you correct them. I have had friends who go on mispronouncing his name for months. Victor has less problems except that his name is not particularly common, much like mine (though his isn't subject to sounding like another word). For some reason, every music or art teacher he's ever had has mistakenly called him 'Vincent'.
 15. Ai, curse my lack of wanting to listen to many songs do to lack of cash to spend on CDs. It occurs to me that while I did talk about them in another thread, I never mentioned Woods of Ypres here. If you have the slightest affinity for post-rock or epic folk metal then they are an absolute must, especially the track A Meeting Place And Time. Check them out by clicking their name above. 4 songs are on the site. Also, rementioning Shabutie, I have discovered the tracks Wake Up and Kinderwhore, both of which are absolutely bloody awesome and get my full reccomendation. Also, there are some Static X songs I need to check out to determine wether I'd like to buy their new album, Cannibal. I saw them in concert the other day and they were great, so i'm opted to hear more.
 16. I like it - poetic - depressing - nice little read. I can say that my time wasn't wasted. As i'm sure was intended, the last few lines stood out as really cool and gave it that sort of climactic feel needed to make something short as this feel epic. The tone and the prose were all very good, too. It sounded like a person talking about how they were going to kill themselves and let the rain wash away their sin, and that's what it was, so that's good. I also like that it doesn't just end with him jumpin like so many of these sort of stories do, and actually follows through to show you that he really did find that cleansing solace in death. Very nice. Just don't go jumping off any buildings, kay? :animesmil
 17. F-H, you've progressed to the point, at least, that you know how to write a poem. Before, i know I always insulted you horribly and shouted that you sucked at format and had no rhythm and all that stuff, but i think you have that down now. This is definitely a working poem. Fully functional. Could be a song even. Now let me tell you why I don't like it. This poem might as well have the word 'cliche' as it's title. This is a poem that has been written a thousand, million times by a thousand, million people. These are the lyrics to thousands of songs - the inline of thousands of diaries, the meanderings of thousands of minds. This is a pencil that has been pressed to a thousand papers and moved the same way, creating the same words. I have read this poem beofore many, many times. First of all, and I know i've told you this many times before; it feels like this poem exists for the sole purpose to rhyme. The rhymes are utterly cliche and without the rhyme, this would be nothing. You came into this poem with the sole intent of writing something that rhymed, didn't you? now, what you did do right is make rhymes that actually fit. In the past there have been times where you've gone out of your way to make something rhyme, but this time everything sounds natural. Now, let me remind you once more, this IS a perfectly functional poem. And, really, there is no such thing as a poem that isn't cliche, as basically everything has been done before at some point. But really, that's no excuse not to make the best of a cliche and make it the shining, glimmering light in the cliche darkness. But no. This is a poem I've read so many times I couldn't tell you the number. NEXT.
 18. I like any genre so long as it's portrayed well. At this point, when I've read enough that just about any basic plot somes across as totally cliche, the most important thing is the characters. Deep characters who actually progress and learn and are easy to connect with are rare, but the stories they are in benefit greatly from them. Sometimes there are stories that are genuinely unique and engrossing -- Death Note being a major candidate as one of them. For me, I personally have a great appreciation for psychological thrillers. Anything boogiepop will immediately be mine, especially lol. As far as this category goes, though, there are much more anime than manga which fall itno this category. Another thing is being able to take a story that is not unfamiliar and make it the best in the genre. King of Bandits Jing, with absolutely fascinating artwork and a strange and utter cool that immerses you in the story, is a beautiful example of this. Then, as i said before, there are stories where the characters just draw you in. Boogiepop once more comes to mind, even f it is a novel -- Nodame Cantabile I have not yet read the manga but the anime is a direct adaption so i think i can be sure in saying that it's a great choice. Megatokyo, though echnically and American story told in the fashion of a Japanese comic, is another fine example.
 19.
I see this ending predictably.
But... if the site admin came here and even posted, but didn't close it, does that mean it's safe to post here? I don't know - the last thing I need is to get in trouble again by asking :animestun :animesigh :animesmil In any event -- I don't think there are really any trends going around the OB currently. I'd sugest just checking out the major threads running right now... the Song of the Week thread and Best Music Artist/s (Today) thread in the music section, the immense slew of anime threads being started (mostly by me) in the anime section (someone watch these shows!), oh, and the Big Anime Event that has seeminglyy spent the last 2-3 days collecting cobwebs... OB's kinda unlively right now really... at least there's plenty of big RPs going right now.
 20.
Man, I started listening to them a few days after I made your banner. I downloaded The Mantle and I'm just now listening to it in detail. This band could pull off Post-Rock (as in the style of This Will Destroy You) very well, but the vocals throw that off. I think I was waiting for these songs to really pick up, but they never do so. So I guess I'm confused by what the band is really trying to do, it's mostly acoustic guitar and kind of growly vocals. Don't get me wrong, they're pretty damn awesome. & Jake, you might like Dreamscapes of the Perverse, they're based about two hours away from me and they have a fun live show. :D I hear they sound like Dimmu Borgir, but I don't like DB... but I really like these guys. To me anyway, it sounds like Between the Buried and Me if they got into black metal. Check out "World of Malice" it's the first song on the cd after the intro and it's my favorite, although the cd is quite an experience put together. It'd be nice to see that band go places.
You REALLY need to listen to Ashes Against the Grain. That's when they truly explode and become full-force of what they were meant to be. Also, be careful in using DB as an acronym -- I thought you were talking about me for a second >_< Which, really, is purely stupid of me, :animesmil So, according to my insanely strange logic, the next in line comes to... Isis - Post-metal is a controversial genre term that I personally support, though others would decapitate on sight of usage. Isis take the usual gentle, harmonious, overly-long post-rock tracks with their switches from quiet to grandious, their use of long passages of riffs, their generally skillful performances -- and juice them up with heaviness. The earlier Isis albums are apparently some kind of departure -- i've honestly never heard any but their 3 most recent and the albums that brought the term 'post-metal' fully into existence. The first of these and my favorite is Oceanic. (I was reluctant to do this, as I am talking about the band in it's entirety, but since Oceanic is 80% of the reason I like this, I thought I's carry the review once more.) Oceanic is not easily comparable to anything I?ve ever heard. The album opens with the eight minute track The Beginning And The End, which immediately kicks off with a wicked riff-beat-combo creating one of my favorite culminations of guitar, bass, and drums ever. The atmosphere is immediately recognizable as deep, dark, and a bit airy as well. Just as the album?s title suggests, you?ll feel like you?re deep at the bottom of the ocean all the way through. The next 3 tracks portray a similar style to the first with deep riffs and dispersed angry vocals. The fifth song actually has no title (marked as ?-?) and is a strange 2 minute piece of static, wave noises, and some sort of crunching towards the end. This is followed by another brief song, Maritime, which crosses over toward a more post-rock vibe. That style is carried into what is probably my favorite track on Oceanic, Weight. This 10 minute epic consists of long mellow passages and soft female vocals coming in at times repeating ?all in, all in, all in a day, a day it changes everything.? The final 8 and 9 minute tracks (From Sinking and Hym respectively) combine the post-rock elements and the heavy sound of the earlier tracks to create what could arguably be called the first post-metal songs. As for lyrical content, Oceanic is a concept album revolving around an incestual relationship, a love-triangle, and a man very desperate to drown himself. Alas, this may not be the full story as the lyrics are very cryptic and open for interpretation. Lines such as ?rape she was and ready for death? haunt the heavy and usually unintelligible singing. The only downside to Oceanic is that it can sometimes move a bit slowly, but even when it degenerates to very little music it stays cool and creates a great atmosphere. This problem only really arises once or twice in tracks 2 and 3, but either is still a worthwhile track. Isis may take a little getting used to if you?re new to this sort of music, but if you?ve been listening to anything like Tool or Neurosis, you?re definitely going to love this CD. (the rest is not from the review. You'll be able to tell because the spelling mistakes will start appearing again >_
 21. Episode 4 was totally great, and it was come to my attention that this show is going to be insanely gory. So far most contractor powers have had effects with the sole purpose of beautifully flashy deaths, and it looks like that was continue. As for the noted unexpected pancakes in episode 4... no kidding!!!
She killed her own friend AND her dad! That part was sick, man,
this show is seriously brutal and it only serves to reinforce my opinion that this show must draw heavily from American comics. Kei's cold heart and battle-readiness are truly what make this show great. I've decided to stop reading it to my brother, though, for two reasons. A. because I can't read fast enough, and B. the mythology has totally lost him, lol. Personally, I love the scientific side of this story, namely because it takes place in it's own world, and while the type of backgrounds of the scientific backgrounds are at least mildly cliche if not very, I think the show pulls it off well. It strikes a terrific balance between telling and showing, and I love that about it. And now the highlight reel.
Of course, any of us look at the part where the one evil contractor dude tore those cops to pieces, but the part where Kei storms the base is pretty great as well, namely for the animation at that part.
Am I the only one who likes to think of Kei in the same light as Raidou Kuzunoha?! And i love that he doesn't hesitate to
straight-up kill the guards
. nice. So far the only thing that hasn't fully pulled me in is the basic stories. Both of the characters we've seen so far had highly cliche comic-book backstories and
endings
. I can see this improving, though, over the course of the series. i'm placing my faith in Bones.
 22.
It is. ;) I thought it would be fun to play with how the deaths could occur. Also, 2007DigitalBoy, if you could edit your recent post in the main thread to include the transport card along with the one for Liam, that would be perfect.
^^;; Sorry! I had completely forgotten! The moment I saw your name under 'The Maze' i went Osnap~! I have edited that thingy now. Sorry for the trouble >_<
 23. Liam?s breathing was heavy and his arm grew limp. He released the handle of the blade which now sat in the heart of Fredrick Shavask. His eyes grew as he realized what he?d done, looking down on the small pile of corpses and the pooled blood all around. He could tell Andrew was beyond saving but Fredrick. He?ll kill me? Liam thought. He didn?t understand why the man had come to such a brutal rage and overpowered Andrew, but he?d been smart to put a stop to it, right? Otherwise it would have been both him and Andrew dead there in the dark, and probably Fredrick too? right?! His head was spinning. His heart kept feeling heavier as he began to fill with grief. Why?! What have I done?! Liam began sobbing into his soft blue hands. The coldness of his flesh was nothing of reassurance. He crumbled to the ground and sobbed continually. It was his fault, wasn?t it? He should have helped save the poor child. Maybe he could have helped Andrew before it was too late. Maybe Fredrick would have come to his senses. Wasn?t it all his fault?! Liam was overwhelmed with despair. I will never make it out of here!!! His mind cried. That?s when it hit him --- why was he still alive?! He looked around the place where he was. It was a room no larger than a common bedroom. The only feature of the room was a lack thereof -- it was pitch black and bare. The walls, ceiling, and floor were all completely flat and without temperature. It was a perfectly empty room aside from three corpses, one which was taking in ragged breaths of despair. Liam looked over at the two bloodied and grotesque corpses. These were people he didn?t even know. People who meant so very little to him. That boy -- he had taken a blade to the chest for that boy already, right? Why was this incident suddenly a blow of grief? He looked over to Andrew, who he had never even spoke to, and the same was true of the other man. While he was shaken by their deaths, it wasn?t his fault --- that?s when he figured it out. The room enhances emotion! The reason for Fredrick?s outburst, and for his waddling in grief -- it was the trap. Liam realized that, at that rate, he surely would have torn himself to pieces and died there all alone. His mind had been changed. I will live for their memories as well as my future, he thought, and stood up. His eyes turned to Fredrick as he wondered if he might be able to bring him back to life. Just as he began approaching, though, he was suddenly caught in a glowing light. --- Clavis and Vanya were just ready to resume their journey without Davis when another blue glowing light appeared before them. Both instantly thought it would be Davis, but instead a boy with blue skin stepped forth. 24. !!! holy crap! Two more of the game's most physically powerful characters gone, though with the re-emergence of alden there is yet hope from him, plus we have yet to explore the abilities of these two new charcters, though one seems to be telepathic. I find it interesting that one of the new guys is an 'Evil Overloard' who so far has been bending people round his fingers, whilst the other is a 'Guardian' who instantly shows off his trust. I like where this is going! And also, ZOMG dual death?!!?! I could have never seen that coming! Looks like I ought to do something with Liam, now that he's all alone... And there we have it! Interestingly enough, other than Jennifer and Eflair, not one contestant currently belongs to their origional group. not to mention Liam was the only survivor of his own group, as well as Lara and Alden are both still alive. Also, we've seen a severe lack of Eflair action so far ;) Let's see here... Group One Alden Rebecca Group Two Jennifer Eflair Lara Davis Deoky Group Three Clavis Vanya Liam
 25. Nodame Cantabile (or nodame as it is more commonly known) is a blend of shoujo storytelling and a true appreciation for classical music. The main character is Chiaki. Chiaki dreams of becoming a conductor of an orchestra, though currently he is majoring in piano at a musical college. After a recent break-up with his opera-singer girlfriend and his teacher booting him from class do to his overwhelming arrogance; Chiaki is pretty out-of-it. He dreams of returning to London to learn under his father's friend, a famous maestro who he claims is his one 'true teacher'. unfortuanetaly, due to a childhood trauma, he is desperately afraid of planes and boats. Chiaki is a sort of Light Yagami type of character. He considers himself of high caliber - and he is - only he is increadibly self-critical as well. EVERY girl in the school is completely bug-eyed over him though he seems basically oblivious to this. The series begins when Chiaki finds out about his nextdoor neighboor who drags him into her apartment when he passes out outside. Her name is Nodame and she lives in complete and utter filth in a frightening hellhole. Chiaki runs for his life, only to later find that the new class he has been placed in consists of him and Nodame -- and is considered the 'special' class! Chiaki quickly discovers, though, that Nodame has boundless talent and can play any song only hearing it once or twice. Her problem is that her style is utterly erratic and senseless. Within the first episode nodame falls deeply in love with Chiaki who begins cleaning her apartment and feeding her - essentially taking care of her. Nodame is an energy ball wrapped in thickheadedness wrapped in 'UGYAA!!!' Over the course of the next 3 episodes, we are introduced to the other major characters. One is Mine, a rock violinist who starts off a little rebelious, but comes to look at Chiaki as a mentor. Next is a timpani player Masumi-chan -- a flaming queen with a deep unrequited love for Chiaki-sama. Finally there's the strange foreigner who comes to their school claiming to be the uber-famous maestro Franz Von Streseman. *** What I love about this show is that it features REAL character development. Over the course of the episodes the characters mature and truly advance and the plot is not only realistic, but well told. The drama is entertaining, and the comedy is actually funny. The most important thing about this show is characters who are actaully enjoyable and who actually progress. The show can be pretty deep at times and it's what a drama should be, in my opinion. There is a large cast of characters who play minor roles but still have a defined place in the nodame world. Let's not forget the music. This show is LOADED with classical music, as they play it often, and it doesn't shirk on the musical aspects. This is a music school and you WILL hear music, and I love that about this show. In fact, over 8:30 minutes of one episode is just a performance of Rachmaninoff, which, I must say, is a wonderfully moving piece. The show picks up really around episode 7 and from then on it draws you in. So far the series is nearly complete in Japan (23 episodes total) and there are currently 13 episodes worth of fansubs on the internet (if you need help finding them, PM me!). There is also a manga for this show which is currently being released in America by i believe Del Ray and currently there are 7/8 volumes out. The voice acting in Nodame is simply great, especially nodame herself who has the same seiyuu as Osaka from Azumanga Daioh (has played lots of other roles, too). The only seiyuu who can be annoying is the one playing Chiaki, but that's only occasional anyway. The opening theme is also totally awesome and catchy.
