I have just finished watching what is now one of my alltime favorite anime, and I have a lot to say about it. Right now, 5 minutes later, I've got a whirlpool of emotions still churning in me. Emotionally, no series has ever effected me as much as Kanon in any way. When a character smiled, I smiled, when they cried, I cried, and I fell in love with a truly amazing cast. Honestly, this is the most touching anime I've ever seen. Now, for the final arc. Yuuichi truly shined in this arc, I think.
The scenes where Yuuichi was breaking down were brutal. I only wish I had his strength -- I couldn't have dealt with that much tragedy happening all around me. the fact that he could keep so much hope in the face of adversity makes him truly admirable.

The very end of episode 21, when we find out akiko was hit by a car, I was doing backflips. The entirety of episde 22 was almost unbearable it was so sad.
For the first time in any anime, I actually shed a tear.
When Nayuki was sitting in the corner, and she yelled 'GET OUT!' through her tears,
that was the most emotional moment for me. Everything about Ayu's story made me sad, but in episode
23
I was simply overwhelmed at how much things were pulled together.
I loved that Yuuichi was taken in by the real Makoto. [.spoiler]This episode was beautiful in my mind, and we finally learned of
Ayu's condition. Happy endings all around! I was so shocked and pleased!
It's true that I love Kanon for making me feel emotional, but not for making me sad. I was so happy during the final episode -- oh my god I was actually made happier by an anime than anything that's happened to me in over half a year O_o -- I could have cried with joy.
I'm so glad everyne got better, especially Shiori. She deserves so much, and I hope so badly that she found that care she needed. I know what it's like to rely on others, and I know all-too-well what it's like not to have anyone.
To say this about an anime character is abnormal I'm sure, but my prayers go out to her.
Seeing Ayu alive and with Yuuchi
honestly just made my day, and I loved every minute of it. This is one of the very few shows where I can honestly say, I loved this show. I cannot even tell you how much I do.

Shiori's ending was so happy I didn't even come close to crying, but instead I felt an increadible warmth inside.
this was my favorite arc so far by a long shot, mostly because I absolutely adore Shiori.
I think I understand the way she felt, and the pain that she went through struck a chord with me. The ending scene by the water fountain was so pretty I smiled through the whole thing (I can tell because my cheeks still hurt.)
I'm going to miss this arc, I can tell, and I'm glad I won't watch the rest until tommorrow so that this arc can sink in. Now that my deep thoughts are expelled, I can speek of the lighter things. I've always loved Shiori's characer design, but Shoiri + schoolgirl outfit =   Also the dance scene was freaking rediculously hilaruious. I was rolling, seriously. that was just too awesome (and even further brought the 'ZOMG Kyon=Yuuichi thing out XD). *sigh*
I'll miss you, Shiori...

Yuuichi was a total pimpmaster as a kid. Given how they tried to integrate the girls' stories in the present, I wish that they had been able to do something similar for the past. I would've had an easier time accepting the fact that he hung out with
Mai, Makoto, Nayuki and Ayu
as a child if some of the flashbacks showed them meeting briefly or at least being aware of one another's existence. ~Dagger~
I agree, and I have always found it kinda weird. He;s such a nice kid it's scary, and in too many ways his child form reminds me of the guy from Elfen Leid (connection to characters with ill fates he didn't know about, can't remember past, etc.) but I think they do an alright job of it. It's funny, cuz until like a year ago i had never had a friend who was a girl except when I was like 5. The whole concept is alien to me XD Also, i thought it was a little obvious that Shiori was
ill-fated
but I think it'll be a little cheesy if she
dies simply because so many characters seem to meet that fate, and possibly cuz I watched Air so soon before.

Okie dokie! I'm pretty sure the last episode of this just aired about a week ago (and was translated immediately, impressive!) but so far I am on episode 15 (right at the end of the Mai arc.) I absolutely love this show, just as I absolutely loved Air. I think the main thing it does better than Air, though, is integrating the plotlines well. In the first few episodes they took some time to annunciate the characters before pulling them into their respective plotlines one at a time. first, the Matoko arc. now, admittedly, I didn't much care for matoko at first cuz she was just WAY too cliche. Her story, on the other hand, was FAR from it!
she was a fox! Holy crap!
and when she
died
I almost cried. It was a beautiful scene. I loved the Mai arc way more, though. I liked the concept, and mai is a geat character. When her friend (who's name escaped me >_< Im terrible with that)
was found on the bathroom floor bloodied i thought her dead at first and I actually think at least one tear managed to come out of my eye.
It also happened when
I thought she had stabbed herself.
The explanation of her part was interesting, and it worked out well. It was a surprisingly
happy
ending, and i think it went rather well.
I'm still not planning on watching this yet, but I just ran into something really amusing. Haha. And that's an actual character, isn't it? (I'm also pretty sure I spotted a Yuki cameo in some beachside screencap of Momoha.) ~Dagger~
Lol yeah, that's Mikan's older brother. He's sort of motherly and looks and acts exactly like Itsuki so everyone immediately jumped to the conclusion of parody. They also make fun of the PS3 at one point (and, some say the 360). I'm patiently awaiting more of this show as only 7 eps have been subbed so far and it's been about a week since 7, so I wonder what the fanbase is doing. >_>
Eh. If you want to have a reason: overall it's thought of as "good". And if that's not fine for you, try: you need to have sex to have babies. How can you possibly feel guilty about having had sex with someone - unless you're already in a relation with someone else? Don't be silly.
1. The overall thought doesn't mean I'll like it >_> I don't seem to like uch else that's popular... 2. Babies? I doubt I could ever allow that. I have no confidence in my ability to raise children. I am a lot like my dad, and as great as my dad is, if I have a kid he'll end up like me. 3. I can feel guilty bout just about anything >_>

How Much Money Does Shinmaru Owe You?
2010DigitalBoy replied to DeadSeraphim's topic in General Discussion
Shinmaru owes me at least a quarter. He is a contributor to Otakuboards, and therefor is a part of the overall life of this forum. Because it has stolen so much of my life, I'd sa everyone here owes me at least a quarter >:O -
Is it really a sin?.
Why you bringing up fairy tales? :animesmil Anywho, I practice what some refr to as 'abstinence'. Save the fact that I dont plan on 'waiting till marriage' I plan on 'not having sex'. I don't want to. I see no reason to, I have no desire to, and I think it only really has downsides in the long run. There are bad things, but no benefits. Just another thing to feel guilty about.

I just read the sentence "I just read this great anime". You deserve no less than death.

No anime has ever brought ,e so close to tears as Air. Over the past 2 days I power watched it and I was not disappointed. This show is so sad it's rediculous, and the characters are truly cared about. Never ever has a show made me nearly cry over someone after only 3 episodes! tat's crazy! There were so many touching moments it was like a roller coaster. I found this series to be immensely strange and intriguing. I didn't really like how each character had their own arc and then basically never appeared again (not a spoiler, necessarily knowlege) but it gave them time to flesh out each character individually (curse of a game with multiple endings >__>

After twelve episodes (and volume one of the manga) I can safely call this one of my all-time favorite anime nd I am completely obsessed. It's got the journeyman's aspect and deep plotlines of Kino's Journey but with utterly breathtaking visuals and a much more driven plot. Where Kino could get a bit slow at times, Mushishi always keeps things 100% interesting and it doesn't screw arounf -- often it gets right to the point of an episode and deals with the problem. These are some of the most creative creatures and situations I've ever seen anywhere, which is always an enormous plus. It manages to not go overboard like King of Bandits Jiing (not that I don't like Jing, but it can be a little WTF at times) and it manages to maintain an ever-serious air. Most of te mushishi encounters have left my jaw on the floor. In episode four when the man
cuts the pillow in half and his chest explodes
that was one of the greatest moments in anime history. I almost did a backflip when I saw it. Ginko is a likeable caracter and has a very cool stle. I love how he appears out of the blue often and has no general direction. Whearas Kino had a very purpose-driven travel and took everthing extremely seriously, Ginko s a little more lad back and even directly admits to not having a purpose. Both are great characters, but Ginko has a bit more of a human quality to him that I enjoy. I like how certain things reappear in leter episodes like the gree sake bowl and how Ginko repeatedly visits his collector friend on the fishing village. Everything about this show appeals to me, basically. My only complaint is that sometimes the way Ginko explains things can be a little complicated, but in the end the story always peces everything together. My verdict is: I adore this show, and thus revive this thread.
Tomokazu Sugita might be best known as the voice of Suzumiya Haruhi's Kyon. I'd also heard him in Honey & Clover, but his
breakdowns[/spoiler'] in the final few episodes of Kanon 2006 (in which he plays the protagonist, Yuuichi) actually made me hold my breath.
Easily one of my favorites. his voice as Kyon is one of my favorite anime roles of all time, and he makes Yuuichi that much more of a great character. My favorite parts of his are when he throws one word out dryly against a scene of insanity, like in Kanon when he scoops up the firecracker and tosses it out the door then says perfectly "Retribution!" I loved that part XD. Apparently he is going to be voiced by Crispin Freeman in English, which hopefully will end up going well. I know a guy with a pair of pants signed by Freeman which he adores. Steven Blum I will also agree is an excellent VO. He was one of the first ones I began to notice in many places. Brianne Siddall is one of my personal favorites for her role as Tsukasa. I always loved that performance as Tsukasa has that whole dry, careless tone about him. I also loved her role as Taro from Serial Experiments Lain. The best of all VO's, though, is not from an anime (except for as Kanchome in Zatch Bell). Richard Steven Howard, known for his performances as Zim in Invader Zim, Billy and billy's dad from The Grim Adventures Of Billy And Mandy, Rodney from Squirrel boy, and Raz from the game Psychonauts as well as many minor roles, takes my vote. Simply because, his role as Billy is unmatchable. The insanity and perfection that goes into each of Billy's line is incomparably. The guy's insane :animesmil I think that covers as much as I'd like to type right now >_> EDIT: In regards to Crispin as Albedo, the Japanese VO is a lot better in my opinion

Sonds like you need to go all Justin Timberlake on that ho and kick a few tails XD Seriously though. The end of a relationship is a new bwginning, a breath of fresh air. If you value your health, you will leave a painful relationship. As it stands, you could probably just not contact her and let it end itself easily. Go find someone new.

Some have noted that Clannad takes place in the spring and might be more suitable for playing in spring of next year with haruhi airing this coming Autumn or so. That would be cool as well. As for what else i'm looking forward to this year, Mushishi on DVD tops my list with absolute vigor! I cannot wait! I'm having Mushishi-withdrawal!!!
And here's a major update. Clannad, another bishoujo game from Key (Kanon, AIR), is being made into a TV anime. More information will be coming on the 20th, so it's not yet clear whether it'll air this year or next year. ~Dagger~
The thing about this, though, is what does this mean for season 2 of Haruhi? While it is true that it was only rumored to begin with, if it were to come out, either Haruhi or Clannad will probably not hit till next year. Personally, I'm hoping Haruhi comes first :catgirl:

Ughuuu~~~ fanservice is fanservice. It may be scary, but you just gotta make it fun! This show has fun fanservice! Besides, if you don't think of it perversely, it won't really effect you. Just don't go to Danbooru or something looking for images and you'll be fine :animeswea It is true that anime can have overly young-looking girls, but you gotta go with it -- if it's a great series pyon~~ EDIT: WAH! Why is no one interested?! After seeing 7 eps of this, I can safely call it extremely awesome, especially in episdes 4 and 5. Where's the excitement?!

I'm shocked no one has made a thread about this show! Currently, this show is almost over in Japan, and you can find fansubs of I believe the first 6 episodes (of thirteen) so far on youtube. Basically it's an adorable comedy about a girl named Manabi who is the new girl in what is evidently an all-girls school (it always is in anime!) and is increadibly strange. At her school there is only one girl on te student board, a one who happens to be increadibly timid. When the girl tries to geter board members, no one wants to get p, bt then Manabi announces her candidacy for president and wows the audience witha heartwarming performance of the school's anthem. The series stars a slew of maniacally cute girls, as you can see above, all of which have the coolest hair ever. Manabi is reminiscent of Yotsuba in attitude, and she motivates great chraracter in her classmates. Throughout the series, Manabi brings pirit to her school and begins making it into a wonderful place. It's an increadibly inspiring show, IMO, and enjoyable. The animation is great, and the characters move a lt which is always a plus. Everything about this show is adorable, funny, and cool, so I log it as a 'must-watch.' The show can be borderline-risque at times, but nothing you'll have to shield the kiddies' eyes from. It's just so cute :animesmil Also, it appears to take place in the near future as everyone has advanced laptops at their desks, there are huge TV screens in hallways and over the track, and as you can see above they have some pretty crazy cellphones. It's subtle, but well-pulled off.

2. We need a suggestions page. No more sugestion threads or explanations -- we should have a page where we have our own reccomedation lists. Think Amazon.com style lists, but OB-ified. 3. Useless. We have myOtaku already, and it's not like we can't go to freewebs or geocities or something. Unless you have some way of making it really super-special. 4. Could you make it so ther's people again? This place feels so empty all the time...

If You Could Fly, Who Would You Spit On?
2010DigitalBoy replied to DeadSeraphim's topic in General Discussion
If I were in a very bad mood, I would probably spit on Paris Hilton or Britney Spears. Why, you ask? Ho ho, I'll tell you, DeadSeraphim. I'd spit on them just to watch their reaction. It'd be hilarious. I'd make sure to let them know I spit on them, too. Then, because I'm flying so high in the air, I'd pull down my pants and moon them. After that, I'd probably get shot down by some security and my fun would be over.... or would it??!
If I'm flying over them, I'm taking a dump on them. Never would I pass up that opportunity. I'd even make a tshirt saying 'I shat on Paris Hilton and Britney Spears.' As for who I'd spit on, lots of people. I'd spit on every celebrity I came buy, every politician, and every world authority. I'd make sure I pulled in some snot for a few certain targets. I'd spit on Randy, Simon, and Paula, and twice on Ryan Seabreeze. I'd then go back in time and spit on everyone I ever read about. -
Been a whole week but I haven't really heard anything new. At all. I just been listening to my old repetoire of tracks again and again. I have grown attached to my Mastodon CD Blood Mountain. I'm digging on all three Agalloch disks and my Ayreon CD The Human Equasion has yet to see a dull moment. Ah, wait! i almost forgot, the Maps and Atlases page on Purevolume now contains 7 tracks! They are ALL win! I especially love Stories About Ourselves for the killer bassline. I reccomed these to everyone. Also, the released a video on youtube of The Ongoing Horrible which you seriously have to see to believe. It's AMAZING.

My cousin (now 19 I think, maybe 18) got me into almost everything I listen to. He introduced me to metal, to prog-rock, to post-metal, and most of all I listen to. If he comes over, AFI's Decemberunderground goes in the closet. I feel embarassed every time I see it in my collection. Franz Ferdnand is bad enough, but I think AFI could warrant a smack in te face XD.
I fully support and endorse the death of the ICP.
I third this message with extreme vigor. Every part of the phrase 'Christian Rap' is unappealing to me, especially whe it teaches you how to steal from my mom's store  As for the topic, it bores me. We all know ipods are popular. That's a duh.
-
\/\/007!!!! Oh wait, this is a topic. Damn. I ws hoping it'd be more of an 'outlet'... As for my opinions on prostitution... I like it? The very concept appeas to me. I could whole myself out to fat chicks! Surely I'd make at least some money. Maybe enough to buy the next volume of Haibane Renmei.

Writing Never dig the Darkness Out [PG-VL]
2010DigitalBoy replied to Aberinkula's topic in Creative Works
Can you spell cliche? Cuz that's the only word you've written, I'm afraid. Wait, no, I shouldn't be asking if you can spell because you've proven countless times in this poem that you can't. It's actually hard to read this there's so many spelling mistakes! It's like you thought grammar was uncool and just said 'screw it! I'll spell everything wrong and let them figure it out!' Anywho, back to the poem itself. The lack of breaking is sort of confusing, but it's made maddening by your erractic rhyming. At some points it seems like you were trying to force a rhyme scheme, but there's also parts where there are none. If you broke it into lines, you'd be able to tell where the rhyme scheme changes or where the meter changes, but as it stands each stanza is just an unintelligible runon sentence. I can't tell how I'm supposed to be reading it. Then you've got some contradictions. For the most part, your voice seems to be tortured by the darkness which he can't escape. Apparently he can't, or isn't willing to try as he says he will 'never dig the darkness out' though this is slightly confusing as to what he means. Is he enjoying it and doesn't want to dig it out, or is he saying he's overpowered by it? you've got a lot of repeat words, and some stuff that's been used a million times. "freak on a leash?" come on now  in every way, the song is cliche. I'm guessing your band sounds just like every other metal band out there. -
no offense, but I'd go so far as to call you stupid if you kept trying. He's a jackass, and don't you dare try to downplay his meanness because THERE IS NEVER an excuse for that. If you keep trying, your going to hurt yourself, and your utterly wasting your time. Leave your hopes behind, and even if he came onto you, stay away.
