1. This manga was great just for being so strange and really screwing with me. It's got a very cinematic feel to it and is very creepy. It's been a while since I read it so i can't remember his name, but the main character kid is really what pulled it together for me. The callousness of his being and the general aura he gave were what kept me interesting. Honestly, though, the ending made me mad. I've heard of open-ended, but that made no freaking sense.
2.
I have to ask a question for those who disagree iwth me on this subject. Have any of you ever been in a situation were you have to commit a crime. Nothing as bad as murder but have you ever had to steal anything or mugg some one or even commit a robbery just to make even for your famliy. I have even though its somthing I'm not proud of but i dont live that way any more yes :D. I'm not saying you should try it and I'm not asking for sympathy but instead of being in the victums shoes try seeing from the attackers ppoint of view, if it was you would you commit a crime to survive.
No. Never. I've been poor before. I've been in a situation where I hardly had anything to eat and would occasionally 'skip dinner' or eat a snack or something. There IS no excuse for stealing. EVERYONE can find work. If you have to make excuses and steal and be a baby, you are worthless. That's my take on it. (no sarcasm this time.)
3. I seem to recal not to long ago when everyone had linkage to their myO profiles in their sigs.(tis how I discovered myO) Was around the time of all the sig fan clubs where you'd join and never talk to the host again XD But recently, it reallly does seem like the connection is lost. Most of the new members probably don't even know about myO.
4.
Impossible. There will always be crime because there will always people who have more. More money, more food, more whatever, there will always be people with more, and people who want more and are willing to cheat to get it. Communism was a form of government that tried to eliminate that division, but it turned out to be a miserable failure. Even if you DO eliminate poverty, all you get is a bunch of rich people trying to steal the money from other rich peoplle (which is worse because it's just greed without a hint of the survival instinct).[/COLOR']
That was my point. God, please pay attention. Also, a 'miserable failure?' How so? (not that i support communism, if it were up to me we'd have a monarchy)
5. How about this. Instead of legalizing the obvious crime of stealing, why not heal the economy, create a government that isn't war-hungry, and unite peoples under peace. Then, you know, this problem wouldn't exist.
6. ForgotteÑ-HerÖ, let me be honest with you. I have never liked anything you've written. I think it's great that you're so determined, but damn if you never seem to make any progress. Look... when you read this song, does it make you laugh? Do you actually enjoy this piece of work? I mean, if this came on the radio, could you sit through it? What genre would it be anyway? the song's gotta be long as hell what with it going through the chorus 5 times and all. I don't even know what you were trying to accomplish here, seriously. Firstly, the rhyming issues. most of the rhymes were VERY stale. Even in the chorus you used the same line twice out of only 4 lines. In the second verse... Going down to Northeshore. A town which hsa many doors. AS the chicken walked down the town. he just stared as Drummer frowned. On the 2nd line, it rhymes with the singular, but sounds wrong with the plural which you used. 'town' rhymes with 'frown' but not 'frowned'. plus look at those spelling mistakes. For the love of ALL THAT IS HOLY, spell check your freaking work for once!!! On the third stanza, Singer and Dinner do not even remotely rhyme. The forth verse is a different cheme altogether for reasons beyond my understanding. Then their careers hit the all. buy a dictionary. Whoever tought you the definition of the word 'all' was lying to you. the worst part of all, though, is that you're song has no flow, no rhythm, just a bunch of really stressed rhymes that form a nonsensical story! It takes a lot of force to get these lines to sound right even in my mind much less in a song. i'm sorry, man, but songwriting is NOT your forte.
7. The last game I got (didn't so much buy it as received it as a gift) was Wario Ware Inc. for the Wii. now, before playing this game the only Wario Ware experience I'd had was playing store demos and watching TV reviews, so I was excited to finally have one of the games. Wario ware is the craziest junk I've ever seen, even more than Katamari Damaci. The characters are all awesome in their cartoonish glory and make the best of cliches. We've got the dancin' fool with a huge afro, little girl ninjas, a young goku-lookin martial arts master, and of course Wario's fat *** (one of my favrite nintendo characters, btw). The best part about the Wii version of this game is the controls. There are more than 10 control styles used in the mini games, each with it's own special name and explanation. There's one where you hold it like you're riding a bike, writing a paper, boxing, weightlifting, and even one where you have a mohawk. Every game starts by telling you which to use and can be insane trying to set it up in time. The craziness of the games is what really caught me. Theres some where you have to push some lady to the ground, keep a panda balanced, abduct a cow with a sweet-looking CG spaceship, and of course the classic pick wario's nose. Your Mii is also incorporated into the gameplay and you sometimes play as him in fights. The best part, though, is when you go inside the game store and play mini-games that are actually parts of Nintendo games! There's one par that puts you in a spot from the leaf dungeon in the Legend of Zelda Wind Waker and you have to float with the giant leaf. Another puts you in Metroid Prime as a morph ball needing to knock over a canister. it's all great fun. the only problem was the game's insane brevity. Even with a few losses, it only took me an hour or so to beat the whole game and the secret level.
8.
'Alone & Unaware...' by Red Sparowes (Link[/url'])
Definetally the best of Red Sparrowes. Awesome song. I'd like to nominate quite a few songs. 1. Weight by Isis - It does technically have some vocals, but it's just a repeating few words, and therefore doesn't count. This song is soothing, beautiful, and epic (at 10 minutes, no less!). I definetally enjoy this track for being the soft spot on Oceanic and totally awesome. 2. Stream of Concienceness(sp?) by Dream Theater - honestly, I haven't heard this song enough times to give something definite about it. It's 10 minutes long, late on the CD, and I only recently got it, but from the few times I have heard it, I can tell you it's a straight-up amazing song. 3. Day 9: Playground by Ayreon - this is a pretty, folkish tune played on a few of the vast variety of instruments incorporated into Ayreon's music. It's whimsical and enjoyable. 4. Odal by Agalloch - admittedly, this song could probably do without the last minute or two of staticy noises and wind, but the first minutes are a great ambient experience. It puts you right smack in the frozen north and definetally sounds great. 5. Any part of Cassandra Geminni by The Mars volta - Several parts are all music -- all parts are awesome. You just need to go listen to it. 32 minutes total. I also second Albert's Rush nominations.
9. A lot of OBers write poetry, obviously, but does anyone here read it? Surely we've all got some poems we loved, or we wouldn't be so into writing them. my favorite is technically a song, but I think it was origionally itended as a poem. This was actually what made me want to do poetry (and I would definetely like to do a cover of either this song or Aura). It's from the rather popular .hack//SIGN soundtrack and is as follows. Fake Wings by Yuki Kajiura Shine, bright morning light Now in the air the spring is coming Sweet blowing wind Singing down the hills and valleys Keep your eyes on me Now we walk the edge of hell Dear my love, sweet morning light Wait for me you've gone much farther... too far
10. thanks!!! It's near impossible to get criticism for my work, so your is appreciated! I think I'll change 'marying' to 'engaged to'. As for it being lyrics, this is actually one of the very few works that I didn't intend to be lyrics, but I could definetally use a combo of the poems to make a song of some sort. Well, I was really bored and wanted to write a sequel to this poem that more explored it's dark side (the subject matter is dark itself, but I tried to focus on the lighter side with part one.) So, while both are about finding happiness, this one is more directed towards the sacrifices involved. I may consider a third if I decide it's incomplete. Also, I changed the rhyme scheme for no reason. W/out A Care 2 There is only ice While flames expelled feel spite Somber shadows dance Drenched, so wet they can't ignite Belay the captain's call All you fortify shall break We meander in the shallows You lie face-down in the lake What clipped my head was pain Now the water calls me forth Chlled by bony fingers Bodily nature divorced Every sigh of unfound passion Wither now forgotten hope Peace belongs within the teeth All these snaps, this shredded rope Welcomed now to hatred's side Floating heads will tell you this Without a care; laughter eternal You smoke agonizing bliss In retrospect, I like the first one a little more, but I love certain lines in this one, namely 'we meander in the shallows, you are face down in the lake'. I got chills when I wrote that lol. EDIT: Here's the final part. It's the ultimate end of all life. All three will be combined and turned into a single song for future use. Also, I wrote a retooled version of part one for a school poetry contest. W/out A Care 3 Force of all impending To which starts will find their ending Sun in palms; piquerous shames We have doused the final flames What without a day won't rise We bid away the ground and skies Calamity my fateful game Insanity my rightful name Northern lights can't offer guilt Capsuls sunk once turned from milk Macabre desires grow Smell the salts we ebb and flow Deeper within cover your eyes Deeper still how you despise Calamity you now must know Insanity we all forego Lick the pain from earth or head Can't wait to see it all dead Lick the pain from earth or head Can't wait to see it all dead
11. I've never met anyone i knew online, though I have wanted to many times. Once I've got my liscense I might road trip some summer and meet up with someone if I care enough. I did have a netship once involving phone talking. It didn't work out, Im bad with phones, heh. (plus, netships are bad ideas alltogether, haha)
12.
Trivium (or at least the stuff I've heard) is pretty bad.[/font']
They kinda are, but it's really all your style. I dont' like a single band on her list, but I do know that she will like Trivium and maybe Coheed. If you do decide to look up Dream Theater, look at songs on their album Train of Thought. It's pretty heavy, while their older stuff is more Rush-stye EDIT: Also, try At The Drive-in.
13. For the love of tetragrammaton, please reduce the spaces between names, lol. Anyway, as mentioned above, you should definetally check out Tool, especially their older stuff. Also, I'm sure you've heard of Avenged Sevenfold. they seem like they'd be of your taste. Don't be one of the pople who hates them but hasn't even listened to them. Trivium is another band you might get into as they are often mentioned in the same breath as Bullet For my Valentine. I'm no big fan, but they may be right up your alley. Have fun scouring youtube for some vids! I'd suggest searching keywords, 'anthem (we are the fire)' .. 'Bat country' .. 'AEnima' .. and for coheed look for 'welcome home' EDIT: I almost forgot! Definetally look up Type O Negative!
14. It would really REALLY help if you told us specifically what bands your into. If you don't, I'm going to start throwign out The Mars Volta, Dream Theater, Ayreon, Opeth, Isis, Agalloch, and the like and you'll hate them all, haha. Judginf from your tastes I can easily reccomend Coheed and Cambria. They are progressive rock with a pinch of emo in earlier releases and pinch of metal in later. I cannot easily describe their sound, but I know for a fact that if you pick up Good Apollo I'm Burning Star IV, you will like it. I just know. (also, if you follow that link in my sig, I've got a review of their first album in there) Tool is another I think you'd enjoy, assuming you don't already listen to them. They should be easily found on youtube or purevolume.
15. I wrote this on a whim and liked the way it turned out. hopfully you'll feel the smae way, lol. Also, please R&R. no one ever replies to my poems/songs and it makes me sad. If you don't understand it at first, think of the last stanza as a decoder. W/out A Care Below the world of avarice To solemn eyes and poisoned kiss Dismay between two golden rounds Like my voice there are no sounds Beneath the mire I loose my faith Along the river a prowling wraith Upon the bridge where I have wept Along the valley we are swept I haven't an ear for a doubtful soul Tasting the heavens, their lack of control From my hands this instrument A waft of perfumes without consent Bodies line turbulent seas So much the mind forgets what it sees Life blood pools in city streets Stifling rhythms of different beats Night and day eclipse the heart Ending before it learns to start Without a care marying death Heaving a longing final breath A lie be told that sorrows are gone Battles fought were never won Lick the pain from earth or brain Die happy, the world insane
16. Trust me, the art of poetry is an art that takes time to fully master or even truly grasp. Start be writing lines on paper. You'll get hooked in no time. Personally, as one who has written a good thousand bad poems, I think it's all about finding your style, knowing your emotions, and letting your spirit flow. You aren't writing a poem, you're experiencing it. master that, and you'll become good. You can always become better.
17. You should also include wat crowd might enjoy it. Trinity Blood is a 'meh' to me. Never been able to sit through a whole episode (same as Witch Hunter Robin). Kino's Journey: Almost anyone can enjoy this. It's intelligent, which gives a nod to those peoples. It's got some amazing action sequences with Kino being an ace gunslinger. It's got some blood, but nothing campy and has no sex or even whorified outfits (no skirts, lol). While some episodes are on the slow side, it's always interesting and very well told. Easily it's one of the most unique anime out there, and very much worth a shot to anyone, especially since the CC is real cheap. Some of the tales in this anime will stick as truly awesome. Reccomended to: Fans of interesting shows such as Haibane Renmei or .hack//SIGN, fans of fantasy stories like Jing, fans of any sort of 'indie anime' (my title for this sort).
18. Easy Accounting > United States > List of cities by population > List of cities > South Dakota cities > Sturgis > Sturgis motorcycle rally Mine is above.
19. Social norms and political correctness are my arch-rivals, so I am a bad person to ask, as you can expect rediculous liberality from me at all times. Legal? Yes. Just like everything else, I'd like it to be legal to do whatever you want wherever you want. I just do, not even a real reason. Do I want to see some people making out in public? Who cares? not my business. If your rubbing up on each other i may shake my head and say something regarding 'the downfall of western civilization', 'divination', or 'the death of all human life', but those are my own issues. EDIT: missed the survey : I am 15 : I like abstinence and am sworn to it : Never, lol : 3 maybe, depend on how you define it : often : no : never had the opportunity, would take it if i did : I'm a shy person, probably not past kissing : Never been, but they sound like it : Depends on societarial progress
20. Was a bit painful, but not bad. Snakes on a Plane > North America > Europe > United Kingdom > New Wave > List of New Wave Artists And Bands > Duran Duran I choose... Opeth to Hamlet (Place) Tested and proven.
21. :animedepr i'm sorry, but I don't know where to pick up the ball. Your story was... incoherent. Everything was happening too fast and I couldn't decifer what was going on. I cought the name 'Amy' and a black monster or something, but you need to be more descriptive by a long shot. It's near impossible to go off of what you've written. I'm sorry, but unless I make a fireball crash on your scene and shift focus to a whole new scene, I doubt I can continue on your portion of the story.
22. So fa rthis is quite interesting and more than a little bit trippy. I like your almost conversational tone in describing things while still managing to get in image in our heads. I hate when an author says 'it was unimaginable' and doesn't allow us to get a mental image - a bomb you did a good job diffusing. I know your story is good namely because I'm eager to figure out what the white zone is, what's being unloaded or loaded, and what te hell's going on. Hopefully you'll be able to keep my interest up, coz this is shaping up to be an interesting tale.
23.
Of course it matters. You miss out on an essential component of the human experience if you don't talk in real life. There's a deeper level to communication that transcends words; facial expressions, tone, pitch, sarcasm, inflection, you miss all of those by talking on AIM. Communication would be horribly crippled without face to face communication.
Did you ignore the part about virtual communication? It's not very far away. It isn't until that point that Internet communication tkes over.
Quite possibly because you're afraid of talking IRL? Just a guess.
Ah, my true reason was right there in my post. I don't enjoy the people around me. I don't enjoy the limitations of life based on location. I have no fear of interpersonal communication, in fact I do it all the time, but it's a horribly disappointing action.
24. Once again, I absolutely love your story! You are definetally very good at vampire stories! (have at ye, Underworld, a true author has appeared!) Before I say anything though, I'm confused. Is Vincent a girl or a guy? I've never heard of a girl named Vincent, but I also know that the rule of vampires is 'virgin of the opposite sex' so neather transformation would make sense if it was a guy. Either way, I like the way Vincent behaves, always fluttering around, happy as hell unles he/she gets sad at something. I'm willing to bet that he/she is adorable lol. Edward is easily the most patient vampire I've ever heard of. I totally didn't expect a happy ending, but Edward's nice-guyness pulled thorugh. Nice work!
25. the question here is 'does talking irl matter?' After all, if a generation was born on AIM, wouldn't it be enough for them? There standard? The things which are limitations to us aren't there for them. I like the idea of internet communication dominating IRL. Why? Because in real life we contain ourselves. We forfit our ambitions and dreams in hopes of keeping alive. I think a lot of that is changing now. With the internet, people can do whatever they want, befriend people they actually like, fall in love with people they actually love, and live their real dreams. To us it may seem weird, but to them it won't. Ignoring the imminant world war beginning no more than 2 years from now, I think it won't be long before we establish some form of virtual reality internet where we could directly interact. IRL will be useless at that point.
