Alright! My mind has been blown! These are both totally amazing! Up the Stairs: Very AFI style as I'm sure you're going for and very creepy. I'd be very interested to know the story behind this if there is one. I love the last 2 lines the most. "And watched the missing frames" ay? :catgirl: (this one could be called a "remake of a classic"). lol the references never end! Beyond The Pale: Sheer brilliance if I do say so myself! I love it!!! "If you smile the world smiles with you/ if you cry you cry alone" that line made me smile (so I guess the world is too, then?). This would make one hell of a punk song!

I actually really liked this poem! I've had an experience with a person I wanted to help who thought her life was over as well, so I can kinda relate. I also thought the last 2 lines were really good as well and am glad you kept them. I like your rhyme scheme in this one as well, and hope you continue to use unique rhyme schemes. Keep em coming, I'm interested now!

You had some rhyming and some format in the first 4 lines, but then your poem basically became the chaos you described. As far as grammer goes, you're fine. The only misspelling I saw was chaos's so you're okay with that. The subject and execution of your poem is simply uninteresting. It sounds more like a rallying speech than a poem, or pehaps a prayer to some god. Theres no figurativeness or language appealing to the senses once again. Lines like 'Just bring about the apocalypse' seem out of place here. The poem is obviously very serious, but this line is so offhanded it doesn't fit. There are other things I personally don't like that don't have anything to do with good or bad (I can't stand the word 'Armageddon') so I may be slightly biased, but I find your 'poem' very boring.

Because If I Did, I'd Regret It "So then, you never will?" "i didn't say that." A boy and a girl in the grass projected on the setting sun. "Why won't you then?" "What if I don't love you?" "What does love matter?" She rises to her feet... angry... sad... "What do you matter?" She takes leave.

The most recent book I read was The Joy Luck Club. I love the style of being in vignettes and the dark, melancholy tone is what drew me into liking it. Each story was cool in it's own way, though I honestly couldn't stand a couple of them. I found all 4 of the secind stories of the younger generation girls to be pretty boring. Perhaps because they were too much like everyday life, plus they were too much alike. My favorite stories are of the St. Clairs and the Hsus. Just imagining the
bloody carcass of the deformed baby as it rose from the table[/apoiler] was crazy as hell and that much interesting. I'm not reading anything at the moment, though the minute I can get my hands on it I'll be blazing through the hird Boogiepop novel. While I like the first one most, all of them are great.

Anime Best type of anime relationships?
2010DigitalBoy replied to 2010DigitalBoy's topic in Otaku Central
Also, I'd like to add a little more to this topic: Do you like to see very sexual relationships, or would you prefer it less? While it is realistic that lovers have lots of sex, I have some problems with sexual relationships. In a romance anime, I like to see it more often. After all, if the topic is relationships, there has to be sex basically. Nonsexual relationships just don't happen... it would only wrk if they were particularly abnormal characters. in non-romance anime, though, I am split. On the one hand, I definitelly like to see couples form in anime. It only works, though, if it isn't intrusive on the plot. It's especially annoying when the relationships form out of seamingly nowhere. And if there is a relationship, I can't stand the prospect of them going 160 episode without ever even kissing (all eyes on Inuyasha) All in all, I only care that the sex is handled correctly. -
I can't loose faith in Sony when I've never had faith in Sony. As a former tendie fanboy, I've never thought much of the PS consoles. Even when I started getting into RPGs (and therefore bought much more PS2 games) I never liked Sony. Why? Because their consoles are pieces of crap, that's why! As I've said in other threads, I went through 3 origional PS2s -- 2 due to faulty programming. If I ever read 'disk read error' again, I'll go crazy! And let's not get started on the PSP... a device that I still have not seen any use for other than watching movies in class -- which even if I had a PSP I wouldn't do. The PS3? No thanks. When I got the PS2 in '02 I never even got any games for it till late '03 and I still managed to get every game I wanted (around 30) so I figure it doesn't matter if I take a while to get the PS3. What You Want For Christmas THIS YEAR
2010DigitalBoy replied to DeadSeraphim's topic in General Discussion
I'd like a Wii with a side order of The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess. That's probably it, unless SSBB is out by then, in which case I will need to change my order. Can't really think of anything else I wan which I couldn't buy myself. -
Okay, a lot of anime fans, myself included, love to see diverse couples in anime. Whether it be shonen-ai, shoujo-ai, incestual, out-of-species relations, or just regular old guy-girl couples, we love to see good relationships in anime. So, what's your favorite kind of relationship? Personally, I think shoujo-ai or incest are the most fun. I say shoujo-ai because it seems like most guys and girls don't understand each other (this being true in the "real" world and the "fantasy" world.) While all relationships have their troubles, I think girls have an easier time understanding each other, and I find that more interesting to watch. The reason I don't like shounen-ai is because the guys never seem to be like regular guys so I can't really relate (though why the hell would I relate to shoujo-ai?!) Incest a lot of people get mad at me for thinking is cool XD (personally, I could see myself having an incestual relationship O_o perhaps it's desperation). A lot of incest is cool because the siblings know each other so well -- they grew up together and stuff and it's cute to see them fall in love. Sometimes it's also creepy, but creepy is fun. It's even better with shoujo-ai incest ;) XD

Ah, this game is bloody superb entertainment it is! I'm like a super-star, too, cuz Im the only one in my family who can play on Medium XD I do love this game to death, but now I just want Guitar hero 2 because I'm tired of the songs on GH 1. I've heard them all too much and certain remakes are just so terrible *coughTakeMeOutcough* This game always brings my family together in the living room and widdles days away. I especially like to play songs I know the lyrics to so I can sing and play at once.

I just saw Elfen Lied this last weekend and it was amazing. I loved the darkness of it all... cinsider me vicarious if you wish, but I love to watch tales of sorrow (not sadistically, but with sorrow behind mmy own eyes as well.) One of my favorite things about this anime was the excessive nudity, and I know that sounds perverted, and it is (very) perverted, but I have another reason. for one, I like to see nudity in anime when no one is having sex. i like nudity -- I don't like sex, so this was all really cool for me. Plus, there was a LOT of blood. That's always nice, and the part at the beginning where she kills
the receptionist
was wicked-awesome. Also, never have I seen so much delimbing in one anime XD But I haven't even gotten to my favorite thing about Elfen Lied: It was SOOOO cute! All the diclonius were so adorable!!! And whenever Nana and (cant remember little girls name) were talking with their squeeky voices I was ready to scream 'KAWAI!' Plus, it had what I would to be the
end-all creepiest incestual relationship ever
. I was loving it.

I figure, what better way to find out what anime is good then to ask everyone their favorite? and with 5 anime being named, it will be easier to know what kind of fan you are to like said anime. YOU MUST TELL WHY THEY ARE YOUR FAVORITES!!! As for myself... Neon Genesis Evangelion - NGE is the tale of a boy named Shinji Ikari who begins the story getting roped into piloting the mysterious mech EVA by his father, the president of the organization NERV. EVA was constructed for fighting the Angels, a group of giant aliens of all sorts who threaten the safety of mankind. The series begins as the story of Shinji's life as he is led along by the people around him and fighting the invading angels, and turns into a dark, crazy battle between massive forces. This anime amazed me to no end. It's got the things I expect from anime - relationships, battles, teenage characters (
seen naked often
, lol), and giant robots. Not only that, but it handles them all well. The battles are out of this world and a few of them were so maddeningly crazy I remember being shocked and breathless. the thing that takes it beyond other anime though is of course the psychological stuff. This anime goes DEEP within it's characters' minds and psyche and gets really crazy. I don't want to spoil anything, so just go watch it and see. FLCL - When vespa-riding loonatic Haruhara Haruko comes flying in from nowhere and bashes 12-year old Naota on the head with a guitar, his entire life is turned upside down. First a huge horn sprouts from his head and if that weren't enough, the crazy girl has decided to start living with him. Between the vespa woman and the ex-girlfriend of his brother who went to America to play baseball, Naota is having a hard time holding everything in his head. Literally - because not long after getting hit, a TV-headed robot emerges from the horn on his head and beginf living with him as well. All sorts of confusing things are going on and Naota has to sort through what is truth and what is lies in this 6-episode OVA. A lot of people don't like this show because of it's insanity and general weidness. It was these things that pulled me in, though. FLCL is deeper than a lot of people give it credit for, and I absolutely love the story and the style. Yes, the craziness was out there and totally over-the-top, but I don't think it was ever done poorly. --- I'll add the others a little later, I didn't expect his to take so long XD

I hope Im not joining this too late. I, too, have noticed the decline of goodness in junkfood. All I used to ever eat was pure junkfood and nothing else. During my entire childhood it was chacolate, chips, or something nasty. Ever since a few years ago, though, I stopped eating chips and chocolate. Not because of weight issues (never had em) but because they just don't taste good anymore. I can never find any good potato chips these days -- the only crackers left with any worth are goldfish and tricuits. Mind you I'm not really complaining as there are planty of other foods that I like, but I definitely agree that junkfood quality has declined dramatically.

Anime Animes That need To be Remade , Revised, or Redone
2010DigitalBoy replied to Kenshin DX's topic in Otaku Central
Please, don't confuse revise and revive. I think the last episode of Elfen Leid should be remade.
The ending was too clifhanger-ish to work as an ending. We see the shadow of what I assume is Lucy at the front gate, but we don't know what happens next. The vagueness just bugs the hell out of me. It seems like if they cut down the length of the childhood flashbacks at the end a bit they could have squeezed in a little bit more at least. I also want to know what happened to the mercenary guy.
I understand that the series finished before the manga, but it still pisses me off. -
Okay... so you've basically rehashed your old poem and haven't changed anything. The thing that bothers me most is the first four lines of the second stanza. Everywhere else you have end rhymes on every other line, but there is no rhyme here. I don't know if you forgot or what, but it throws the whole thing off because it seems like there is no rhyme scheme for a moment. Another thing -- you use the word 'myself' in 2 different rhymes and in one of them you rhyme it with 'self'. There is enough repetition in this poem without using the same rhyme twice -- it gets boring and looks like laziness on your part. Now, I can see how you want the answer to something and you want her to give it to you, then in the end you realize the answer. I actually like your plot, but if you're looking for answers from her it seems a bit strange that you don't care what she says. Other than that it's a good poem with bad mechanics. Perhaps a rewriting is in order.

I'd easily consider Borat to be the funniest movie at all time. I laughed consistently throughout the entire thing and usually had to stop myself from laughing just to hear the next joke. I got to see it weeks in advance so luckily nothing was spoiled, either. Every scene was just rediculously hilarious. I remember my eyes popping out of my head when
he comes downstairs with his crap in a little baggy XD
. Of course, though, the
naked fighting balls-in-mouth scene
is what drove this movie to the top. I mean come on -- that took balls. (XD) and it really dominates the memory lol. My favorite part was probably the Running of the Jew XD.

Writing The Things You Wish You Could Say [E]
2010DigitalBoy replied to Karma's topic in Creative Works
Well, considering this is a direct happening with your life I find it hard to relate to. Mind you I've been in netships (I realize this isn't a netship tale, but it works the same way.) All you really did was directly describe the situation. It rhymes and has meter and stuff so it is a poem, but it doesn't need to be. Subtract the line skips and you've got a little story more suited to be a diary page than a poem. Granted, I will give you credit on the fact that it isn't bad by any means. The only thing I found distasteful was the part where you rhymes 'say' with 'say.' Perhaos if you threw in some figurative language for some the lines it'll come together more as a work of literature. Otherwise it's gossip. -
You know, without rythm, meter, stanzas, rhymes, or language which appeals to the senses, you don't really have a poem. You have a giant metaphor -- a letter maybe or a memoire at best. Yes, it's not terrible, but I don't want to say it's a poem. There is mad repitition of the words dark and light (take up thy thesaurus and walk) falling into no sort of scheme. It's very direct... nothing fancy to help it. The tone is just conversational sounding as well. Sorry guy, but all I see here is a bunch of lines sewn together with the cheapest of threads.
-
Well, I don't want to change the rule that we put ratings in our thread, but if someone forgets or something they shouldn't loose their whole post. And also, isn't it quicker to edit a title real quick instead of going through the trouble of writing a message explaining the close? EDIT:
What comes to closing threads scaring people away, if the mod has closed it with respect towards the creator and no humiliation involved (so the blame's not on the way the mod closed the thread), then those people should really go into themselves: are they perhaps too sensitive?
Look at it from the eyes of a new member. Somone they've never met or heard of is basically telling them that their post isn't good enough. Some people take it in stride, but I wouldn't hold it against someone to take that to heart. There are some times when it feels like you're being looked down on in these cases. Also, does their sensitivity level have anything to do with this?
-
I can't help but find the enforcement of ratings in the Anthology to be a bit overdone. I think it's a bit extreme to close some one's post just because they forgot a rating. Perhaps a major warning or something could work? I mean, I know they can redo the post, but I've never seen it actually done. I think it scares a lot of people away who go to the Anthology first. There have been many times where I have seen a new mwmber post a poem, get it closed, and then never show up again. I don't know if it's possible or not, but I wish this were a little less strick. The Anthology is not the most lively of areas and this is not helping.

1. What religion are you CURRENTLY following? If you don't have one, then why? I follow no 'real' religion. I have my own beliefs that need not run course with anyone else. 2. Why do you follow that religion? Parents, personal reasons, etc? I follow my religion because I don't care about religion and I wish people weren't so uptight about it. 3. Do you ever feel that people often critisize you because of these beliefs? HELL yes. 4. This one may spark a little bit of arguing: Do you believe that your religion is the one true religion? If so provide evidence. I could say any number of things here, but there's honestly nothing I can say to prove anything. I respect every religion and believe that any of them could be true. The only time I becaome entangled in religious affairs is if they encroach on MY happiness.

I have been in love before. Ended in the worst way and the worst kind of way. I'd get into it, but that wouldn't be good for any of us. If you happen upon the novel Boogiepop Returns Vs. Imaginator, look at the relationship between Taniguchi masaki and Orihata Aya. That's basically how we were. Cept she was WAY crazier. Anyway, I don't trust love. Perhaps it's because I've been hurt? Perhaps it's because I don't have enough of an understanding of it. I don't know where it roots from. All I have to say is, I have the capacity to fall in love with anyone if they have the capacity to fall in love with me. On the one hand, I feel like I'd be the perfect boyfriend as I'm overly dedicated. On the other hand I always think that I'd feel sorry for any girl that fell in love with me as I am a practically impossible person to deal with. If you're interested (and why the hell are you?!) I'm like Piro from Megatokyo when it comes to things like love. I know it seems pathetic that I compare myself to anime characters, but I don't care.
You're kind of comparing PS2 prices near the middle and end of its life-cycle to 360 prices near the beginning of its life cycle, though. I got a PS2 shortly after launch and, trust me, it wasn't much cheaper to get to play most of what I wanted to lol. Hell, for quite a while there really weren't even any decent RPGs to speak of. I guess the same is true of every generation, really.
Well, technically, I've payed HELLA more for PS2 consoles since I've had 4. (first stopped playing games, second bought from friend for $15 only for him to steal it back after I bought $200 worth of games, thrid kept destroying disks, now I have slim version.) Anyway, I do realize I am talking about mid-life term of the PS2, as when it first came out I was a 'tendie fanboy. But even then, the Gamecube was only $200 when I first got it and it never gave me any trouble (till it melted down when we lived in Florida for a while >_
Also, you do not have to buy an Xbox Live Gold account to play Phantasy Star Universe from what I understand. Silver works just fine.
Yes, but I needed gold for Halo 2 as well :P also, on top of all those costs, the damn 360 turns out to be a faulty unit, ruins Phantasy Star Universe and Enchanted Arms (got them both exchanged) and now we have to mail it to Microsoft, wasting a good about of my Live time AND my Hunter's Liscence. Microsoft seems to be dropping the ball here. The Xbox never had any problems with me. I'd hate for this to end up like the PS2. When it comes to premiums, online play, and all the things you have to buy extra, gaming has gotten way too damn expensive. Last generation I bought a PS2 for 150 bucks, a whole lot of 20 dollar RPGs and was content. I hate to think that gaming will be ruined for me by freaking prices.
