My friend yamisgirl has internet explorer 6 and she can't get past the page that says Vibrant is now live. I've had no probelms with firefox but when she asked I tried IE 7 and I got on once but for the most part it remains the same page saying Vibrant is up and running. I told her to clear her cashe and stuff but I don't know if she did but she says that she still can not get into the site. Is this a problem or is there something she can do?
I've had problems with both IE 6 and FireFox 2.0 getting past that update page too. I've been able to get intermittent access to the actual site, but it's a fight to stay on there for very long cause it eventually comes right back around to that page with the promo video on it and the message about the cache. I must have cleared the caches in both browsers fifty times or more tonight and I still randomly find myself not on the site, but on that update page, and once that comes up again, getting theotaku to load becomes a big problem.
Good to see you, Hal. I'm happy you decided to introduce yourself. :catgirl: I also saw your Version Vibrant page; very impressive! Looks like a good resource for those who wanted to follow the site's development but didn't want to wade through all of the official announcements separately. Great stuff.
I knew I forgot something important in my introduction! I forgot to mention that people can either call me Cosmic or Hal. Cosmic being obvious, or Hal being the nickname I use among friends and I sign my art with it too. Either one is fine by me I'm pretty lax about what I'm called by others. Thank you for saying so about my breakdown, that particular project was born out of necessity to keep others informed, and because like I said before I'm freakish about collecting information on topics of interest. I've actually had more people I didn't know approach me with questions and concerns about Version Vibrant in the past few weeks, probably because I've kept up with all the public information as much as I possibly could. I actually don't mind taking the time to do what I can to help ease someone else's concerns if I can. Thankfully, that will be over soon enough. I guess I left that part out of my introduction too, I like to share information about subjects I'm familiar with. If I can teach one person something about a topic they didn't know before, that makes me feel good about what I do. -
Haha, well it's good to have you back anyway. What username did you have? Maybe I'll remember you. If you remember Syk3 and Adam on here then it must have been a while ago! Welcome to everyone! :catgirl: I do like people telling us a bit about themselves, it helps us to decide what to add to the boards. I would personally like to know what people's favourite anime/games are, as well as their favourite hobbies. So anyone should feel free to include that if they want. ~_^
I don't believe I've performed the formality of introducing myself here yet, though I have been in the wings for a short while, just wasn't ready to set foot on the stage till recently. I hail from MyOtaku, of course my username is CosmicSailor, I am a guy for the record, and I've been with MyOtaku since 2003. I was on the boards here a while back, but not very active even then, left over a stupid technical glitch that still affects me and gets under my skin, but I did come back to honor a promise I made, though I'm still not very comfortable posting a whole lot here just yet. In terms of anime, I fell in love with the whole genre back in 2000 when I first saw Escaflowne on TV. I didn't realize what it was at the time, and it took me a couple years to find the term anime to associate with it, as well as finding other shows and movies that hooked me. Escaflowne, Last Exile, and anything with the Studio Ghibli name on it is tops in my book. I have seen Akira, and Grave of the Fireflies, two of the "must see" classic anime films, liked both of those when I saw them. My list of favorite anime is quite extensive to be honest, I've only really come across one anime I couldn't watch cause I didn't like it, that was Serial Experiments Lain. I do other things, I write, I'm an artist with wood and pencil, I like to take photos, and I love to experiment with food in the kitchen. I'm also fascinated by cryptozoology (Bigfoot, Mothman, Jersey Devil to name a few) and paranormal phenomenon (hauntings, ESP, etc), and the UFO phenomenon. I also have this freakish habit of collecting information relating to topics that are important to me, or I just find interesting, like recently I went overboard tracking everything I could on the Version Vibrant launch. I don't talk religion or politics, that's a personal quirk of mine. -
Something unique to me and only few others in my family is ambidexterity, I, one of my uncles, and my niece are all ambidextrous, we can easily do with one hand what we can do with the other, like writing, painting, drawing, anything. It's kind of a weird thing in my family given most of them are right-handed though there are a few southpaws (term not meant as an insult) as well. Another thing I have going for me is art related. I'm self taught in pencil art, photography, and pyrography (that's wood burning in case the term is unfamiliar). I kind of have a knack for being able to do visually artistic things pretty much by eye. A weird and unsettling thing about me relates to extra-sensory stuff, specifically numerology. If I see a certain number repeating (I'm not posting the number to prevent anyone from testing me on this, it upsets me to that degree), I know that within one to three days, I'll be seeing on the news or hearing about someone dying or being killed. That actually began to happen last year when my aunt passed away.
1. What was the first choice you’ve made that you can remember? 2. What was the best choice you ever made? 3. What was the worst choice you ever made? 4. What was the hardest choice you ever made?
Those are all very thought provoking questions, kind of similar to some contemplations I've been doing about my own life lately so the answers come easily to me right now. 1. The first choice I made that was of significance in my life was actually one I made in the first grade. A friend of mine had not been feeling well since school started one day, so she chose to sit out of a rather pointless exercise on the lines of dodgeball in Phys. Ed. class that day. I chose to sit out with her, not because I hated the game they were playing, or because the teacher really shouldn't have been in charge of younger kids (he had a mean streak like you wouldn't believe), but because I was concerned for my friend. 2. That would be when I made it to High School. I had been home schooled for a while and when I worked back into the public school system in a new state a couple grades prior, I never really fit in with the locals where I was then. I had turned into a quiet, shy and easily bullied kid. A lot of people had told me that taking a theatre class might help me get over that, so when High School came around, I took Theatre as my elective, best decision I ever made. That class really opened me up, and hooked me on one of my passions, effects make-up. 3. I have enough skeletons in my closet to write the book on bad life choices, but I'll spare you all the details and hit one one particular bad choice that stands out in my mind. I'm one of those people who have extremely bad luck when it comes to certain things, one of which is actually getting a job (for the record, I'm 27, not in college or anything like that). A couple years ago, I chose to give the state employment agency (like a publicly funded, brick and mortar physically located version of those resume posting websites) a try. I had no idea that I was stepping into a hornet's nest of lies, corruption, and laziness. Needless to say, that never panned out and some letters I'd sent to "important" people in my state government just took and made the victim (me) the enemy. So that's really a two pronged bad choice, I chose to put my faith in an agency that was set up to help people like me find work, and when they violated my rights, I poorly chose to believe that higher members of government would actually help correct the situation. 4. I have quite a list that could go here as well, there are many equally tough choices I've made over the years. There were actually two that bore a significant impact not only on myself, but my family as well. I'll only share the one here since I could go one for hours about the other. When I first got my learner's permit to learn to drive a car back when I was fifteen, I had to compete with my older brother to get the car and only actually drove one single time that whole year. Now my dad and brother both got upset with me when I turned sixteen and had to tell them both that A) I was not going to take the test to get the Junior Operator's license B) a 30 day extension of the learner's Permit would not be enough time to teach me to drive properly to get the Junior Operator's license later, and C) actually being behind the wheel of a car petrifies me with fear. That last key point does have a name. It's a documented phobia, Amaxophobia. If you've ever seen the Spongebob Squarepants episodes where he's learning to drive a boat, that's one of the best examples of what Amaxophobia is. Everything is fine till the person who suffers it is behind the wheel (some more severe cases people can't even ride in cars). I didn't come to the decision not to drive lightly, it was something that took me six months or more (from the one time I drove till the permit came up for renewal or graduation) to finally decide on.
