Request Was wondering if anyone could do some anime style drawings for me...
Syk3 replied to Dark Hayden's topic in Creative Works
I hate to be the one to bring all of these rules down on you, but just make a note for future reference, and read the rules page carefully before you continue posting. ^_^
ok...sorry
Typically, at OB we try to put a little more into our posts to make them.. well, worthwhile, you could say. If they don't really contribute to the discussion, they are spam and are not tolerated. :/
Hey Ziopeth, I sent you an email....check it out
In this post, personal comments can be done through Private Message to avoid cluttering threads. Also, instead of double posting, we ask that you edit your previous post with things that you forgot to add. :) -
Request Was wondering if anyone could do some anime style drawings for me...
Syk3 replied to Dark Hayden's topic in Creative Works
Welcome to OtakuBoards, Dark Hayden! These types of threads belong in the Art Request forum, where members will help you with your artistic needs, heh. Best of luck with the novel. ^_^ -
LOL ,are you ever going to attach the immage I am a little curiouse to know what it is :D
The image is attached, if you look at the bottom of the post. ~_^ The reason that it says that xx____forbidden forgot to is because that was part of a second post which then uploaded the picture, and is now in the original post. So critique away.

Anime Samurai Champloo [from the creator of Cowboy Bebop]
Syk3 replied to Dagger's topic in Otaku Central
I don't think I've posted in this thread yet, but I've been very excited about this show from the initial sightings. Cowboy Bebop is definitely my favorite anime I've ever seen but I also love historical samurai anime, and this combination is absolutely perfect in my opinion. There was no doubt that I would be picking this anime up when it would be released. What I usually tend to do with anime is pick up some weird, cheap, but cool bootleg that condenses an average size anime (26 episodes) to 3 discs. With Samurai Champloo, though, I know that there's no way that I'd be able to wait that long for the entire thing to come out. This is going to be the first anime where I plan to actually collect it DVD by DVD, which will take some saving up on my part, lol. I'm trusting this hype and my own instinct that Samurai Champloo won't let me down, because you can't really buy the first DVD without being fully committed to buying the rest of them as well, especially with a box set. XD So yeah, I preordered the box set last night (or rather, early this morning I think) for just under $30, though I probably should have ordered it sooner since I knew all along that I wanted to buy it, lol. The email that they sent out said that preordered items will try to ship to arrive at your house by or around the street date, and considering that it usually takes over a week for shipping, I screwed myself with that. >.o Ah well, at least I'll have it, heh. I'll post my opinions when it comes in. -
I had an interesting conversation with my friend today. Wait, no, let me rephrase that.. It was rather stupid, and was more of an argument. He seems to think that since we're Americans, we have no right to say whether or not certain anime are bad, which came up when I started looking through this thread in computer class. O_o Alright, I can understand translation issues to a certain extent, and would be able to see what he's saying if this was, say, voice actors. But then he goes off and points out anime that was mentioned in here that he thinks are good. Wait a minute, but we're not Japanese, how can we be "rightful judges" as you were explaining before? It's hypocritical and rather ridiculous, I think. Repetitive story lines, little to no character development, dull plot.. are these the fault of bringing from Japan to America? Of course not. It's a very elitist attitude, too, like "oh, we can't judge movies because we don't make them." I'm not the only one that feels this way, right? Eh, but he's full of pride and likes to argue. He even went on to say that he is somehow more of an anime pro than me and that I'm some sort of poser; maybe he was just in a really bitchy mood today for some reason. But anyway, onto the bad anime. New Cutey Honey. This is the first anime that popped into my mind, because I remember how much it left an impression when I watched it on On Demand. The whole corny-ness was through the roof, and the only point seemed to be to show the chick naked when she transformed. Everything about it seemed lame, from character designs to fighting some dark bad guy. I'm really not sure how it's possible to consider liking it. O.o I'd also like the mention the cliche for bad anime: Dragonball Z. :p I mean, sure, it was addicting when I was in middle school, and the plot really held me then, but when you look at it today.. it really is incredibly tedious and didn't exactly do anything too exciting. Not to mention that making the characters so strong that they can snap their fingers and destroy the planet was a move that made it really.. out there, and not in the good way. One thing that I will agree with my friend about is that some of these choices throughout the thread are based on opinions because you don't really care for the anime, but others might. I have my own, of course, and it's not so much that it's bad, but I don't like it. That doesn't mean that anime doesn't have the ability to not be good, however. Some of these that I don't like include Gundam (too political for my tastes), Last Exile (not a fan of the futuristic-with-muskets setting), s.CRY.ed (not quite serious, but not quite humorous, since a lot of the jokes I saw were kind of corny), Hellsing (didn't like the whole English-anime theme going and some stuff could have been pulled off better), and Samurai Deeper Kyo (don't like all the demons). It's not that they're bad, necessarily, but I don't like them, heh.
Neon Genesis Evangelion[/b']. I have watched all of it, in case anyone will ask. I got most of it. I was going fine. And then that one guy came in and was hitting on Shinji in the shower? And Shinji liked him and then he was an angel and.. just.. whaaa? I mean, I got the storyline and all but.. just.. why was Shinji so screwed up? Personal opinion here, but Shinji seemed really screwed up. And those last 2 episodes made me feel like I was actually going insane. I mean, I was literally cradling myself and sobbing for no reason at all. And I'm not someone who does stuff like that often. What the heck did that thing do to my head? It's either brilliant or mad and I just.. didn't like it.
You say you understood it, but based on what you and others who don't like it say, I don't think you completely do. The guy "hitting on Shinji in the shower" was Kaworu, who admittedly did like him, but not in a sexual way, I don't think. Angels really don't have the ability to love someone in that context, I believe, so it was more that he simply wanted to get closer to Shinji. Shinji's feelings didn't really show any signs of true affection for Kaworu, either, and as you saw in the rest of the series he's very insecure, so he was eager to latch onto someone who cared about him, and that person turned out to be the final angel. Why was Shinji "screwed up", you ask? How could someone possibly have a nervous breakdown when given the responsibility to save the world, one wonders? The fact that he was introverted and self-conscious didn't help matters, either, and the end of the series was a time for him and the rest of the pilots to come to terms with themselves, which was a continuous theme in the show.
Tsurumaki gives the series a bit too much credit by saying it's "something that has finished" considering all the holes it left and the utter lack of closure it had with regards to its characters. If there was nothing to discuss or interpret then nothing would be. There are tons of fans of other series out there, but the best they can usually manage is "who is your favorite Hinata Inn resident?"
I don't really think that there are holes left, persay, but if you don't really understand the series, then you won't appreciate the ending. Watching End of Evangelion helps, as well, because it gives an alternate ending that wraps it up differently. However, during the series they allude to certain points in the bible and such, but you can't really consider those holes because you're supposed to know that already or figure it out for yourself for a deeper understanding. And it did have closure, as well, since they killed the final angel and came to terms with themselves mentally, which was a major theme throughout the series.
I have a question for those of you who despise or strongly dislike Shinji. Do you hate him because of his actions/behavior/mindset throughout the series, or because of something that happens in the last few episodes? I'm at episode 17 right now, and thus far I've found him to be a mostly sympathetic character. So I can only assume that he does something stunningly awful later on, because at this point I can't really bring myself to see him as being overly whiny or annoying or weak. Answer however you like, but please remember to use spoiler tags liberally (I've been spoiled for the TV show as well as EoE, and I have no desire to refresh my memory). Thanks! ^_^ ~Dagger~
Ahh, episode 17, you're getting into my favorite part of the series, heh. Most especially the following three episodes. I really don't mind Shinji, myself, but I think those who do come to this conclusion base their belief on things that are continuous throughout the whole series. Nothing in particular really changes, except that some of the events are more ground breaking and cause Shinji to react more strongly to an extent. But really, it's nothing that more drastic than what you've seen before, I don't think. The final two episodes may increase someone's dislike for Shinji, but it wouldn't change their opinion of him if they liked him before. His
mental breakdown
(I'm not really sure if that's a spoiler, but I did it just it case, and you can look if you want, Dagger) is justified, too, in my opinion, because he's a 14 year old boy who is relied on to save the world. :/

Geeze, I can't believe that no one has posted in this thread for over a month. o.o Such an incredible game, too. I got Echoes for Christmas, and haven't gotten a whole lot of time to play it so far because of homework, but I have clocked in about eight and a half hours. I like to take my time, though. Get the most out of a video game, especially one as pretty as this. Compared to the first game, which is my favorite game.. ever, so far I'm enjoying this one just as much, if not more. heh The thing that probably accounts for most of my time is the scanning, which is significantly improved from the last game, in my opinion. The best part is that everything turns completely green once it's scanned, so it's much easier to tell whether or not you have to do it. Scanning also helps with the story line and continuing through the game, so it's more useful from the last game as well. Plus, once you reach 40% scans, you get an image gallery, which I aquired just a little while ago. Yay! ^_^ There are only a couple things in particular that I think that I forgot to scan, one of which being the beam shooter that the space pirates can get in and shoot at you. The graphics are laregly the same, but that's not a problem for me because I loved the last game's so much. It became a little frustrating when I realized that I would have to collect all of the items again, but that's a Metroid game for you. >.o Right now, I'm about 19% through the game, and I just got the Dark Suit after beating that freaking slug monster thing, so I'm heading back to the light world to give that guy the.. energy thing. Hopefully I'll have some time to play it over the weekend, lol.

What OB members do you know, or would you like to meet in real life?
Syk3 replied to Boo's topic in General Discussion
Syk3. The one and only person that I would not mind meeting. Been talking to him for a good couple of years now. Real cool kid. We got some carazy plans for this summer. ;) He knows what I am banging about.
Haha, you know it man. I forgot to mention that before, about how we were hopefully going to hang out sometime during the summer if Zeta can find his way to my place. XD We've had some good times online, and it would just be awesome to chill some time. He's into a lot of the same kinds of things I am, and we've helped each other through quite a lot. :p Other than that, though, no immediate plans so far to meet up with another member. -
I have both Family Guy bosxets, and I love them to death. lol Family Guy being my favorite show, I just had to buy the DVDs, which has in turn given back to me in laughter. Ah, how I love thee. I also have season one of Malcom on the Middle, which I used to watch quite a bit during the first few seasons, but I haven't watched anything on Fox in a while. Still a great show, though. If I see The Critic anytime soon, I'll hopefully get it, because watching only a couple episodes has shown me how potentially funny it can be.

Let's see here.. This is going to be a tough one, so I'll just comment by series or movie, rather than by DVD. Key: series/OVA series, movie/OVA movie, subtitled movie, subtitled series Angel Links (2 DVDs-13 eps) -I haven't watched too much of this; maybe one or two episodes at the most. I've had the series for a while, and got it because I was a fan of Outlaw Star, but this one has a much different appeal -- mostly fanboy (there's a cat that lives in the main character's breasts!). :p Not that this is bad, but I tend to prefer ones with a lot of action. The Animatrix -I think I picked this up the day it came out, since I was a Matrix fanatic back then. The anime shorts are really good, for the most part, but I was disapointed in others. My favorite has to be Detective Story, and I wasn't really a fan of the last one or World Record. Berserk (3 DVDs-25 eps) -Very cool. Up there with my favorite anime series, simply because of how badass the whole thing is without being melodramatic at all. I will agree that the end could have been a lot better since it raised more questions than it answered. And if you've seen the series, I own the pendant that Griffith wears. XD As for extra features, the outakes were halarious, heheh. Cowboy Bebop (3 DVDs-26 eps) -Undoubtedly my favorite series that I own, and in general. The variety is absolutely excellent in that it covers so many genres and so many bases; everything about it is perfection. The "bootleg" case is also really cool, because not only is the art fantastic, but it lists every episode, and has pictures to accompany all but two of them. It's also the first anime that I bought. Cowboy Bebop: Knocking on Heaven?s Door -A perfect movie to accompany a perfect series. They really couldn't have done better, and now that I have the dubbed version, I am content. Fooly Cooly (1 DVD-6 eps) -It's really great that they were able to fit all 6 episodes onto one disc in the version that I got, but that left no room for extras, which is ashame considering that they came with the legit DVDs. Still a trippy and funny series, though. I like it. Grave of the Fireflies -This is a highly recommended film, which tells of the hardships for a boy and his sister in Japan during WWII. A serious and emotional movie, indeed, and I should really get around to checking out the extra features. Hellsing (2 DVDs-13 eps) -I didn't really like this series very much for a number of reasons that I won't both to list here. The DVDs are set up beautifully, though, with really cool menus and extras. Love Hina (3 DVDs-26 eps) -This was a good series, but it got rather repetitive, not to mention slightly frustrating, after a while. If you haven't heard me say it before, I don't mind subtitles, but I prefer dubbed if I can help it. And although they pulled it off well, the whole "one guy in a house of girls" is a pretty cliche storyline for anime. _

What OB members do you know, or would you like to meet in real life?
Syk3 replied to Boo's topic in General Discussion
omg tht 1 member sky3 hes totally awesome i want to meet him :D So far, I've met Shy, Mei, and Sere Tuscumbia in real life, but it would be really cool to meet more. Akward at first (yar, I've been there :p), but once we get used to our offline personalities, things get a lot more relaxed. I've been wanting to meet up with Sen and Shin for a while now, but unfortunately my AX 2004 plans feel through, so eh. I'd say maybe this year, but with me not having a job and my parents not letting any money out of their sight, the cash will probably be pretty tight. There are a lot of people I'd like to meet, though. Most people on my buddy list, though some are kind of annoying, like Japan_86. I don't want to start listing, though, because I know I'll leave someone out and they'll never forgive me, and then when we do finally meet, they'll bring a bat and kill me because their name slipped my mind when posting people to meet. :/ Wouldn't it be great if we all lived close by? Eh, maybe not. That's what the internet is for, in any case. -
LOL...it is cool, actually. i do not think i've seen anythig like it.
Welcome to OtakuBoards!
Something like mine?
Please try to put at least a little more into your post. ^_~ If you were, perhaps, willing to let Salemcigman use your banner, or make another one similar to it, it would be good to mention that. If you just wanted to show off your banner, however, that is not acceptable. :/

Art Syk3 The Corroded Reindeer [Special Animation For All OB]
Syk3 replied to Dragon Warrior's topic in Creative Works
XD!!!! Pure sex, Dragon Warrior. I'm tempted to say that this was my favorite animation that you've made. So I will. ..this was my favorite animation that you've made. It was just.. funny. I laughed out loud several times, and that's how I usually judge how good one of your animations is.. or just anything in general. :p You also captured what happened two years ago perfectly.. save the fact that Shinmaru was no where in sight. -
is anyone even willing to take a wakk at my request?
I think this covers just about everything I want to say:
Double posting has become an issue as well, to an extent.
I've checked the links and made sure it was working right. There seems to be no problem with it at all. So, if you can't view it... I'm sorry.:(
Alright, they're working now. ^_^

All I'm getting are red Xs. Perhaps you should double-check the links. ;)

Welcome to OtakuBoards! Here are a couple rules you've broken in this thread:
When requesting an image of a particular theme, please include the franchise in the title of your thread. For example, if you wanted a splash for your website that has Dragonball Z characters in it, instead of writing "splash request", you would make the title "Dragonball Z splash request". This way, your thread is more likely to be answered quickly, and the people who want to put together these pieces for you won?t have to wade through dozens of "can you make me something?" to find a thread that may appeal to their talent or interests.

The next thing that I want to bring up is that when you request an art piece, know what you want on it from the beginning. Having an idea about what sort of pictures you?d like, what you want written, and the general set-up of your image will allow members to fulfill your request at least three times faster. From experience, figuring out what you want on an image and how you want it set up is probably the most difficult aspect of graphic design. That being said, any extremely general threads are unacceptable.[/color']
You can find all of this in the sticky at the top of the forum. For now, please make a more detailed request and I'll edit the title based on what you would like. Also, please DO NOT make any more threads for a request. I've seen like five of them already! Be patient, and someone will eventually fulfill your request.
-
We must also address the fact that requesting something from a particular member is not only ignorant, but useless when posting in a public forum. When making these threads, you are basically sending off the message that you don?t care for the talent of anyone else on the forums that regularly make images for people. I know that you may not have intended it to come off as such, but regardless, I'd like such threads to instead be PMed, emailed, or IMed to that specific person, making the transaction elsewhere. This forum is for people who need an art piece made, have no one in particular to make it for them, and would like someone, anyone, to help them out.[/color']
Please read the Request rules more carefully in the future.
-
I just realized how old this thread is, and I should have closed it when it was brought back last time.
-
All requests can be made in the Art by Request subforum. If you would like to filful an existing one, feel free to do so. ^_~
oh harsh dude, but yah you are right, it does look like you put minimal effort, no masterpeice here...
Please put some explanation into your post. If it looks like it took minimal effort, explain why you think so and ways that he can improve the piece. Constuctive criticism is very important.
it looks cool to me, do you take request??
All personal questions can be asked through PM. Keep posts in the topic relevent and use constructive criticism as explained in the sticky at the top of the forum.
