can you also post the one in charcoal?
I can when I'm finished, heh. I've just barely started, though, so it might be a week and a half or so.
Also, I'd like to say you're lucky to have the art teacher you do. My art teacher has all of our art pieces planned, down to the subject and theme and everything. We're not even allowed to use photos of anything. She gets angry when you do. ^_^;; You're very lucky you get to draw what you want and stuff.
It's actually moreso the class than the teacher. I'm taking AP Studio, which basically asks that you create a portfolio of 24 pieces of art by the end of the school year, and it has to be of your own creation entirely. The class is very open-ended, so you're on your own for the most part. I've taken 3 years of art courses prior where the teacher regulates everything that you're doing, and this is my chance to apply what I've learned.
[b']If you're planning on colouring it in, then I hope you do a really good job with it, but I don't see why you should mess with a good thing.
I was planning on moving the 'Do you know me' picture to larger paper and then using charcole, but I'm not going to do any more with the pictures I posted.
I like using charcoal to draw things with but it gets everywhere, as it looks like it did on this picture, slightly, to the right. *waves fist* Darn you messy charcoal. :D
Nah, I didn't use any charcole for 'Shh', just pencil and then went over it in colored pencil. Like I said above, I'm going to charcole the other picture, but I don't use charcole much and agree that it is pretty messy. ;p But so much of art is, so whatever, and I need to do a medium that I haven't used before anyway. Thanks for the comments and compliments. ^_^
Are you a tard? I only capitalized his name when it was the first word of a sentence. If you look at the list of characters in the story I put at the end, his name is lowercased, jackweed ;^D
No, I'm not a tard, and his name should always be lower case. Especially at the beginning of a sentence.. but especially in the middle of a sentence.

I just wanted to note this from the sticky at the top of the forum:
The next thing that I want to bring up is that when you request an art piece, know what you want on it from the beginning. Having an idea about what sort of pictures you?d like, what you want written, and the general set-up of your image will allow members to fulfill your request at least three times faster. From experience, figuring out what you want on an image and how you want it set up is probably the most difficult aspect of graphic design. That being said, any extremely general threads are unacceptable.[/color']
This thread would fall under those 'extremely general' ones, and you're lucky that you got someone to make the banner for you, but just don't let it happen again in the future. ~_^
It was a nice ending, lol. I didn't expect that Syk3 would be the hero and I certainly didn't expect that he'd be handsome in the end.
But isn't that what always happens? I thought the ending was pretty cool, even though I thought it was strange that the old leader Sephiroth didn't make an appearance. He wouldn't have a grudge, but still. :p Also, you spelled kuja with a capitol 'K'!1!!!111oneone!1
You're a good artist, Syk3. Again, 'Shhh' is my favorite. The eyes (eyelids?) struck me as especially well done. I can't wait to see this one in charcoal. The second one was good for a sketch, but, as you noted, the lips are little off. The hand was drawn nicely with good proportions, and I liked the toned-down colors. ;) So what'd you get on the project? -Karma
Heh, I think you mean 'Do you know me' for being your favorite. That's the black and white one. I don't think I'll ever be able to do good lips. And I don't know what I'm doing wrong, either. >_o I actually did pretty good in the way of grades. I only had 3/4 of the assigned drawings done, so I should have gotten a 75, but the teacher liked them so much that she gave me an 85. :D *confidence boost* Not only that, but she had me bring in Photoshop today and show the whole class how you can play around with pictures.
-
just one question, how are you going to draw the whole thing? Wouldn't it be kinda hard?
I'll show you. ;) The pictures below were representations of 'Do you know me?' and 'Shh' from the first post. I first sketched them using pencil, and then added colored pencil (yes, even for the black and white one). I wasn't satisfied with the 'Faceless' one, so I didn't scan that one in. ^.~ And after carefull thinking and talking to my teacher, I've decided to do the project on the 'Do you know me?' picture, in charcole. That works best because it's a medium that I haven't used all year, and my teacher has a lot of it. Keep in mind that these are quick sketches, done literally during the day that they were due. :p One last thing: I can't draw lips.
The first four are the banners, the next ones are the avatars and the last one is profile pic. Maybe I made a mistake on the avatar size, I'll have to check. EDIT: Nope I made the necessary things the correct size. :D I edited to direct everyone to the right things now :p
Ah, alright. My mistake. ^_^;
[/size']
Come on, Nomad, you remember that the size restrictions for avatars are 150 x 80. ;) Unless that wasn't an avatar, in which case.. what is it? O.o
Ah well...I still gave it a try. use Shredaas. Its better and wider!
Keep in mind that the size restrictions for this forum are 500 pixels wide and 100 pixels high. This is assuming, of course, that the request is for this forum, heh.
I think they all suck. I am really not liking the colors in the first one - they are too bright and obnoxious. I see the effect you were going for, but it's overdone. Good idea though - try lightening up on the colors.
The comments are appreciated, but I'm going to have to disagree about the colors being too bright. If I lightened it up (and I'm assuming toned it down to regular skin tones as well), there's less to say about the picture to make it.. stand out, and what's the point in subtlety if your objective is to magnify your feelings through art? Sure, you've got the silencing finger, but the colors can broaden the view and leave many different possible levels of interpretation, such as the example I gave earlier of keeping vibrant emotions silent. And that's what I'm looking for, honestly. My art teacher got pretty excited about this one and wanted me to paint a silk painting with all of the colors.
Second one was cool, I liked the grainyness effect, but the glare off your face was blinding. Try mixing in some more flesh tones, to once again, lessen to effect of too much of one strong, concentrated color.
Well, part of the point there is to be.. "captured in the world of the computer." Silence. Anonymity. I don't think it's that strong, anyway, though I suppose it depends on the moniter. In any case, the graininess helps to lower the "glare."
Third one was my favorite. It's morbid but also meaningful, it reminded me of the matrix. My only complaint is that the face is a little too zoomed in. Maybe try having the face pulled back from the camera a little, with your hair in your face and make your hair all black and wispy (with your mad photoshop skillz.)
My idea was that I'd just do the face on the paper. Like, no outlines for the head, ears, hair, etc. The entire paper would be the face, and I'd draw in the eyes, nose, and "mouth." O.o; Once again, I do appreciate the feedback; there are just particular intentions that I had with the pieces that I wanted to share. ^_^

Well, my teacher gave us Thanksgiving break to do four drawings, and here I am at 1:00 am the night before trying to get it done. Typical. >_o We had to think of a theme to go off for our portfolio which includes 24 pieces and must be completed by May-ish, and I chose to do it on Silence. I don't talk much during that class, so they should see why I picked it. :p heh We also needed to consider various mediums to do the pictures in, and the preliminary sketches due had to be detailed and colored. I don't have the drawings done quite yet (read: haven't started), but I do have the pictures. Because of procrastinating time contraints, however, I could only get 3 pictures done, but it's better than nothing. 1. Shh - This one should be pretty obvious. The finger over the mouth symbolizes not talking, and thanks to some simple alterations with Photoshop, you could say that the vibrant colors in the face are the pent up feelings that aren't spoken. 2. Faceless - The silence of the computer. A way that you can talk to others online in silence and remain nameless/faceless. I added graininess to sort of show the distortion of reality. 3. Do you know me? - Mouth closed, eyes shut.. just the face. Do you truely know the real me? I'll add the drawings once I finish. Feedback on the pictures would be nice, though. ^_^
Whoa, man. Those are pretty good. Bloodlinez was my favorite. The "Pink Paradise" one was interesting as well. Again, great job man.
Please refer to the sticky at the top of the forum on Constructive Criticism. This post is too general to provide proper feedback to the artist.

File > Save As; Drop down box where it says PSD and choose another file extension. Or if you have Photoshop.. File > Save For Web; Choose file extensions and level of quality on the side.
No one wants to comment? Come on! Gimme your opinion or something.
Have patience. It's only been a few hours after you posted, so of course you aren't going to have many, or necessarily any, posts. Give it time; posting asking people to post isn't going to help, and is considered spam.
Oh, and if you like Elastigirl's lisp, you should watch Silence of the Lambs. I swear that her lisp sounds just like Jodie Foster's lol. So much so that I thought Jodie Foster was doing the voice of Elastigirl :p
Ooooh, I'd like to see that then. :o I do have one question, I just realized, relating to
the baby's ability. What is it? O_o; Going berserk? I saw.. him being able to turn into a really heavy metal, and change into a demon. I don't relate either to superhero powes, haha.

Anyway, as I said, It was cut to be rated R, meaning the NC-17 version is much more...unpleasent. I assume this means they
showed the girl cut into the guys stomach, the officer getting shot in the head,
and other crap along those lines. I'm assuming they'll release an uncut version witht he DVD...or something...
That makes sense, but if they did show that stuff initially then I'm surprised that they could have done all that with a small budget. O_o In any case, from what I saw (heh..) in theaters, I think that either the rating could have been lower, or they could have showed more stuff to compensate for the R rating. :/
But I have one question, it may seem naive; where did they get the name "Saw" for the movie? I mean, there were saws in the movie, but is that why?[/size']
I dunno, that kind of confused me, lol. The saw was such a miniscule part of the movie that either they were desperate for title, or it's supposed to have multiple meanings and make you think. For example, the guy behind it saw everything that his victoms went through, and as descibed in the movie, had a "front row seat". So that's two different meanings right there.
hey can i get those cursors? im new so for give my rudeness. i love naruto and im looking for cursors and they are not anywhere else
Feel free to use the PM system for questions that aren't regarded as comments toward the thread. ~_^
I'm told that Saw was originally NC-17 on the independent circut, then cut down to R for the theatrical release.[/color']
It's interesting.. because I saw it twice, and I felt that it should have been PG-13. They never actually show anything gruesome; most of it is implied by blood splattering to the side in the background, or a pool of blood. Maybe some of the dialogue, or themes caused it to be rated R, but I think that they could have got away with something lower. So yes, I actually saw the movie twice. Once, I think the day it came out, with a friend of mine when we were bored, and again a week later when I was on a double date with some chick since there were no other good movies playing. I thought it was decent enough, or I would have refused to see it a second time, lol, whereas it was kind of cool to see all of the hints that they give you leading up to the conclusion. As said, the acting was rather poor, especially near the beginning. I didn't like the way they just dove head first into the story, either, but it does kind of mix things up a bit. Both got gradually better, in my opinion, as the movie progressed, but not so much the acting. It did well for a low budget movie, which was evident a few times, but some poor dialogue could have been avoided I think. The twists in the story were great though, and the end kind of left you on edge without closure, which is both a good and bad thing I suppose, lol. It's good in the sense that there isn't a generic happy or sad finish. Could have been better, though.

I saw the movie yesterday, and I must admit.. I was extremely pleased. ^_^ I had high expectations based on what I heard from other people who saw it, and they were surpassed for the most part, I'd say. It's definitely going on my "list of movies to buy when they are released to DVD". The movie was just so.. satisfying. It had a lot of hype, and once I saw it I knew why. A lot of movies lately have been a big let down so this was a refreshing change of pace. Most, if not all, Pixar films have been like that too - generally a very solid story and script, and I don't think there's one movie from them that I didn't like, heh. It's great how they find a way to appeal to all age groups. I enjoyed making predictions throughout the movie, as well. More specifically,
the baby showing his powers around the baby sitter
and
the demise of Syndrome being caused by his cape
were things that I saw coming, but not
Incredible Boy becoming a bad guy
.. which was a pretty good idea, heh. Of course, the animation was spectacular as well, but that's to be expected. ^_^ Frozone was cool, and I agree that there should be more of him, but Edna was just kind of annoying, in my opinion. :p One of those stuck-up designer ladies. ;_; Am I the only one who thinks that Elastigirl is attractive, especially with the lisp-type-thing of hers? XD

I guess it's about time that I replied to this thread, lol. But why, DW, why must I always be the vile and ugly monster? >:| Eh, at least I have a stable job in the stories. Pays nicely. :) This story is well done so far, and I hope to see more soon. The premise is interesting at the very least, and I like plot elements like Shy's prophecy. :p The little side jokes are good too, for the most part. Definitely still a lot of Family Guy integrated in there, which is a good thing. XD Don't try too hard, though.
Your being very naive when you tell everyone to "be yourself." That's such a broad statement, being yourself is different to everyone. If every guy on this earth had the SAME EXACT PERSONALITY, then being yourself would work.
I've been looking over this thread a little bit, and I find a lot of your comments halarious, but people have basically said what I was thinking. I do feel compelled to reply to this statement, though. It's so incredibly obvious that being yourself is different for everyone that I don't know why you actually used that for your argument. "Yourself" defines your personality, so all you need to do is what feels natural to you. You're making it seem like in order to possibly function you have to be copying someone else. Doing what you want, and saying what you actually feel is the only way to find someone who likes you because of who you are, not the poser version that lives out the expectations of someone else. But of course, you're looking to score chicks on a one-night stand. You may only be young once, but why set yourself up for failure when you can learn from actual serious relationships that you can actually take with you when you get older? Quality over quantity is always a good thing. As for suggested lines, I don't know about anyone else, but any lines I've actually practiced have always ended horribly, haha. But when I talk to a girl and just said things as they've come along, things went much smoother. I also find it halarious that no girls seem to agree with you. XD
-
Well it gets empirical. I'm not saying you're to call this guy out on a duel, lol. But you can't give up on a girl just because she's temporarily unavailable, first of all. Secondly, she might be available as long as she is ok with dating two guys at once (until she decides to stick with the one she likes more...). Not all girls go steady exclusively.
If the girl is always complaining about her boyfriend and isn't very happy with him, I can see trying to win her over, and eventually dating or "hanging out" with her once you've convinced her that she doesn't need him. But I don't want to go for the 'kind of chick', as DerelictDestiny puts it, who dates more than one guy.
There are good reasons to not interfere in a solid relationship (if the girl you like is happy, maybe you actually care enough to let her be, heh; I personally find that hard to talk myself into accepting though). But there are wrong reasons as well, and mostly I was talking about those. Intimidation, for example, is a bad reason.
Basically if I like her enough, I'm willing to back off or go for it based on whether she would be happy. But whether or not I like her depends on if she's the 'kind of chick' I'm looking for, heh.
