1.
Haha, Syk3, I can tell from your post that you're probably still in high school. It's your treatment of actual dating that gave it away... perhaps the parent chaperoning actually. Yeah. That and the very serious thought you gave this topic. None of my friends would be nearly that serious about it, trying to treat it like some sort of discipline, heh.
Oh, yeah, I probably should have addressed that, lol. I am in high school, and I tend to view dating maybe more seriously than I should. A friend of mine, after we had a little.. er, "fling", remarked that I acted more like I was 22 than 17. And I think for her, and probably other gils, that might be a turn off.
Another thing I notice (and Syk3 addresses) many people here initially make the distinction between hanging out and "going on a date." I NEVER made such an explicit distinction, especially in talking to a girl about it. I have NEVER asked a girl "on a date" or "out" or anything. I'd say something like "we should totally go see this" in regards to a movie, and it would be a friendly affair that I would, using my Bruce Wayne-ish charms, turn into something more if I could.
Basically, yeah. I'd much rather ask a girl to hang out than any formal date, expecially right away.
Also, if she has a boyfriend, who gives a crap? What, you have to respect the boyfriend? Hell NO. If he wants to defend his territory then let him and see how he fares. But never give him more of a chance than you give yourself; it's not fair to anyone including the girl (whom you KNOW you can treat better, right?). If the girl rejects you because she's dating someone else, then pay attention to how she does it. Maybe once her current relationship ends she'll give you a go. Maybe she just wants you to try harder (this one is hard to guess at, maybe you can just risk pissing her off a bit for another shot). Or maybe she's never gonna interested (and THAT's really what you're afraid of hearing, isn't it? what does it have to do with a boyfriend?).
Eh, I'd have to disagree with you there, at least for me. If the girl has a boyfriend, I don't want to turn it into some sort of competition to win her over, which could possibly end up ugly. I know if I was going out with a girl and some guy was hitting on her and asking her to places, I would be pretty pissed off, and I don't want to envoke that kind of anger from some other guy. I tend to be kind of laid back and avoid getting on people's bad sides if I can help it, lol. Now if a girl I was dating actually accepted this guy's offer, I'd break up with her on the spot. When it comes to that respect that you mentioned, she would be showing me that she doesn't have any for me. It's all a rather ugly situation in my opinion.
  2. Well.. I think people have generally voiced my own opinion about your formula for picking up chicks, but I do have one myself that I would like critique on to see how accurate it is, lol. It's nothing like Sauce-Head's, where you are preparing beforehand to get chicks, but rather what you should do if you happen to like a girl and want to ask her out. I've never been hugely popular with the chicks, however, so this was written from an outsider's point of view on what seems to be the best way. Oh, and one more thing.. I've never actually tried following these guidelines yet, haha. Props to OtakuSennen for helping me come up with the basic structure. [Part One: The Beginning] Don't ask a girl out until you've been talking to her and flirting for a couple weeks. It's your job during that time to make sure she doesn't have a boyfriend, that she might be interested, and whether or not you're interested in her enough to go on a date with her. If you go out on a date right away, you don't know anything about her, what she likes (especially what she doesn't like), and it will make for an extremely awkward situation. You're just doing it based on looks (probably), and you are complete strangers. You need to talk to her for a bit beforehand, and give yourself as much time as you need in case she really isn't your type. It's fine to start talking to her because of her physical attraction, but when you get into a relationship with her, it won't last without communication and emotional attraction as well. Don't wait too long, either. If you become really good friends with a girl over a couple months, and then ask her out, one of two things will happen. The extremely thin chance is that you will hook up, and have so much in common from being friends that it's a clear jog to the finish line. For the other 90% of you, face reality. They won't want to ruin the friendship that you two have together, and feel that the tension of a relationship will push you two apart, rather than bring you closer. Make no mistake, however; always hold friendship dearer than even your own partner. If you two were ever to break up, your friends will be there for you. On the same regard, if it works out, then you will have someone that means more to you than the world. Cherish this, and don't take it for granted. [Part Two: Asking Out] The one thing that you should avoid at all costs when asking a girl to go out on a date with you is coming right out and asking, "Will you go out with me?" You don't want to sound too anxious to get into a relationship, but rather give her the mystery and satisfaction when you finally are boyfriend and girlfriend, making her feel like she's earned something by working for it. Remember, starting off on too high of a note will only bring it to a halt quicker. Ask her to actually DO something in particular, such as taking a walk, getting something to eat, or (at a more serious time, I'd like to believe) going to see a movie. "Going out" is much too general, and by definition it would mean to go out to a particular place anyway, so why not think of one beforehand? If, after the first outing, you find that you don't like her as much as you had thought, then it's no big deal if you haven?t committed yourself to going out on a regular basis. As such, when you first ask a girl out somewhere, don't make it seem like a big thing, and just casually ask her if she'd like to go to *random restaurant?s name* sometime next week - whenever is good for her. Don't make it too fancy, but don't bring her to a fast food place, either; perhaps a local, family-owned pizza joint. It is also preferred that you have your license so that you can drive her to wherever, unless of course you don't mind one of your parents chaperoning. Wherever you go, don't consider it a "date" until the third one, and even then, don't even bring up the term "date" in conversation until she does. And don't over-do it when it gets to that point. It's your choice whether or not to bring her flowers, but if it's the first "date" you should probably play it safe and stick with the protocol; you don't know how long this is going to last. Use your judgment to wing it and determine for yourself when you should try more serious tactics. If you can manage, you might even want to think about a double date, since group conversations and activities are easier. Use that as your step before you go with just the two of you, and things may be able to flow a little better. But just remember above all else to have fun, and smile. You should also just go with the flow and let things happen as they do; don?t worry about consequences, and just be greedy. If you?re not greedy enough, you?ll never be able to advance in the relationship.
  3.
my current wallpaper is a dark funeral one, it has the band, and under-neath it says "SUPPORT THE WAR AGAINST CHRISTIANITY"
Do you have a picture of it? heh 'Cause, you know, that's what this thread is all about.

    Last Exile

I saw the first episode of Last Exile at a friend's house last Friday, and I didn't think it was that great. The animation was awesome, of course, and I might not have been paying complete attention, but the story line from what I saw kind of sucked. *shrug* My friend, who owns it, hasn't even gotten around to watching the first two DVDs because the first few episodes made him kind of bored. The overall feel of it really isn't my type.. the whole futuristic old fashioned atmosphere, with amazing flying ships but using muskets (come on, muskets!). Maybe I'm not giving the show proper respects from the positive view so far in this thread, but based on what I saw in the first episode, I didn't really like it.

  8. Welcome to OtakuBoards. ^_^ Try to be a little more specific in your requests here. If you want someone to draw you a picture, you'll have to provide a little more detail, such as what picture you want drawn and whether you mean in pencil or on the computer. Providing a picture would also be a good idea. Be aware that in the future, however, such general threads will be closed immediately. Lastly, this would belong in the request forum which is a subforum located within this one.
  9.
undefinedundefinedundefined http://www.animewallpapers.com Can i have some a copy of the story from their OVA when i think Tamahome and Miyaka were married, Tamahome is reincarnated as Taka Sukunami... i'll wait for it because i've watched the series, what can i say is they loved each other, first love never dies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :wigout:  :tasty: :babble: :p  :)
lol What are you talking about? This thread is for a banner request; anything else that you want to talk about can be done through PM.
  10.
Plus one episode was banned for svastika(sp?)-like symbols. After Justice League: Starcrossed, the symbols could be shown if CN has any sense of logic, and even if they don't, they could just digitally erase or change them and air the episode otherwise mostly intact.
I don't know what those symbols are, or why they would be banned, but I agree that it shouldn't be very difficult for them to just edit the show a bit, heh. o.o Do you happen to know which episode was banned?
  11.
Not to turn this thread into an Eva debate, but what symbolism and metaphorical stuff? It's essentially nonsense. To me, it just appeared to be an abstract character introduction with pictures of stuff flashing at you here and there. Watching it after knowing everything didn't really do anything.[/size']
Since I love you so much, Azure, I went through and studied the Eva opening theme. >:| And I found.. alright, I remembered it with more symbolism, honestly, that's my bad. :p It is a very trippy opening, though, so if you haven't seen the series all the way through, you'll be very confused, and I think something that my friend remarked when he first saw it made my thoughts jumble a bit. I still think it's pretty cool, both because I can appreciate all of the pictures and because I think it's a cool theme song, even though the up beat isn't followed in the series.

    My Gallery
Your style is really pretty. ^_^
In the Art forum, we encourage everyone to make detailed responses, outlining exactly what they do and do not like about a particular image. If posting a site with pictures causes people to make less intelligent posts, I'm going to have to ask that you upload the images individually.

    Labels

I find that in a lot of these labels, you'll be able to find people who are only in the specific group because they want to fit in and will actually change themselves to "fit". This is the very definition of prep that I have personally found, so not only do you have that group, but you have people in, say.. the goth group or something simply because "it's not cool to be a prep", and not necessarily because they're gothic or something: wanna-be type people. In that sense, I don't look at someone the way society has labeled them, but rather how they fit in their own stereotypes. But yes, I do tend to label people in different ways, but not by the clothes they wear or the people they hang out with, necessarily. For the most part, you're either a prep, or you're not. If they're jerks and try to pick on and bully people, or do other things for attention in order to impress people, I refer to them as preps. Perhaps they do this by drinking or doing drugs or something because they have become a victom of peer pressure and want to fit in. I just find it rediculous that they are living out someone else's expectations rather than doing something because they want to, more concerned about whether or not it would be "cool". Often jocks and cheerleaders make up a large part of this group, but there are always exceptions. Everyone else is not a prep for the most part. There are many shades of grey (such as people who are nice for the most part but sometimes do things to impress others, not including girls that they like ~_^), but generally if you tend to make your own decisions and don't allow what others think to affect that, you're okay in my book. Nonconformity is where it's at. :p Of course, if you hate something for the sheer fact that it's popular, you're no better than those that make of the majority. If someone dresses in dark clothes a lot with dark make-up, or if they like to skate or get stoned, that's their own business, as long as they're expressing how they really are. And on the other end of the spectrum, hating preps just because they're preps isn't good either, if you don't have a reason to hate them besides their title. XD
  14. Here's my 'Wow of the Day', lol: getting into unopened territory and seeing how far you can get with the police after you. XD I was taking a break from the missions today, which I've been doing a lot anyway, and decided to see how much of the map was actually unlocked for me to explore. I ended up finding various dead ends and road blocks and stuff, and eventually found that a lot of times, it will let you swim to the other side. Freedom at last! Or so it seemed.. As soon as you make your way onto the currently locked land, you automatically gain 4 stars and police are coming from every direction. You can still get pretty far, though, depending on how good you are at manuevering your vehicle, but I never had a chance to get to any towns or cities. I have a blast doing that, lol.
  15.
\My only complaint, if you could count it as one, is that the land is so BIG. It takes me forever to get [i']anywhere at all.
lol Yeah, I've heard that before, but the game does a great job of accomodating for the huge map. Like Vice City, there's always the option of buying property to be closer to a particular set of missions, or possibly in the center of the map so that you don't have to travel as far to certain places. Also, I believe that there are trains to take you to different places, though I haven't done that yet myself since I haven't gotten very far into the game, and there are planes/helicopters, as well as the possibility of indicating a point on the map for your radar, to reach your destination in the least amount of time. Right now I'm on a mission where you have to pack crates into a truck inside of a military base. I've failed the first couple times, lol, but I'm confident enough in what I have to do so that I can get it done fast now.
  16.
I'll probably get killed for saying this, but I don't get why so many people love the Neon Genesis Evangelion opening. I think it's the lamest thing EVER and the song! ARGH! Every time I watch a Evangelion episode on the Anime Network I have to fast forward through the opening...
Haha, that's what my friend said when I showed him this thread and my post. I just think the song is pretty cool, and the sequence itself is filled with a lot of symbolism and metaphorical stuff, so you tend to appreciate it more once you've seen the entire series. Of course, as my friend pointed out, the song is kind of upbeat which doesn't match the series at all, but I wasn't really considering that, lol.
  17.
Is it just me, or lately have there been alot of posts like these...[/color']
lol, when we find them, I assure you they'll be delt with, like this guy. :p
  18. I can't believe no one has posted in this thread after playing the game yet, lol. I got it a few days ago, and if you've played it, you'll agree that it blows the other games out of the water. I don't really want to get into all of the specifics too much, but I will say that the game is awesome. The other PS2 games were also good, in my opinion; III was fine and Vice City got me hooked for a while, but San Andreas is where it's at. If you've played the other games and didn't really like them, you still have to rent it at the very least. As my Nintendo fanboy friend was telling me after his brother bought the game, "III sucked, Vice City was okay, but San Andreas is the first actual good game." The game is so detailed that it's absolutely unbelievable. Not only can you use a number of vehicles, but you have attributes that let you perfect those skills to go faster, smoother, and for motorcycles and bikes, less likely to fall off. If your health is low, you can eat to regain energy, but eat too much fatty food, and you'll get fat. You can choose to eat a salad meal if you want, but they're going to cost you more money. There's also a gym to raise your muscle and stamina attributes, and even if you get it all the way up, they will slowly lower if you don't go to the gym for a while. The effects are visable, too, so if your muscle bar is all the way up, you can see that you are pretty ripped, and if you use you fists to fight someone, the people will go down fast. For raising your stamina, it lets you run, bike, and swim longer, though not forever. I haven't driven in a car much, but there are so many different cars that it would be almost impossible if you were looking for a specific one (which is why I'm hoping there isn't the equivilant of the car shop in vice city :p). The game is soo much more than just looking pretty, as you can see, and it is very pretty. ;) The map is also HUGE, as you'll hear from other people. The area that I've been through so far is way too big for me to keep track of, and that's less than a fourth of the entire map that I hope to unlock after playing some more missons (which raises your respect meter and gives you money as well). And if that wasn't enough, the game is pretty difficult too, so don't expect to beat it any time soon. :p The whole game is just.. damn. You have to play it for yourself to see what I mean.
  19.
As far as I knew, they had already aired all of the Rurouni Kenshin episodes in America. Are they airing reruns, or some new ones, even though I thought the series was done?
I think there was a part that they never showed - the last third of the series, though I can't remember the name of it, lol. Of course, they might just air the whole series all over again.

    Help

We have a request forum to ask questions such as this. ;)
  21. I'm not trying to make you look stupid, you're doing a pretty good job of that on your own. I apologize that I put thought and explanation into my post, though, if that's what you want to hear. The referrence to the vast majority of DDR players preferring techno in my own post was merely hypothetical, so perhaps most of them don't even like those kinds of songs. You not liking "american ucky goo" is your own opinion, and you should be able to respect others if they happen to prefer that over "cool techno japaneesy music". If that's what you want on a DDR game, then import it, or move to Japan; complaining isn't going to change anything about the US game. Despite your claims of being a mature and educated young man (oh yes, I'm a pervert, give me your address!), you don't seem to be using that knowledge to the best of your ability in your posts. What could either one of us being better at DDR have anything to do with our discussion? We're talking about game content, not scores here. But for the sake of rubbing it in your face for my own sick entertainment (), Tsugaru isn't that hard of a song if you practice hard enough, and maybe you'll be able to ace in on Heavy someday as well. ^_~
  22.
 i guess but they're puttin gay songs that arent techno and dance like. well duh most of the DDR songs are american and stuff but they just went to far when the put songs like that gay " kids in america" song
They're "gay"? lol How old are you? There are always going to be songs that they put in there that they believe are popular American dance songs, such as the one you mentioned, despite whether the vast majority of the players prefer techno and such. They are trying to appeal to a wide variety of tastes, starting with music which is the most important aspect on DDR. If you don't like those songs, then simply skip over them; there are plenty of songs that you can enjoy. In fact, I like more songs on Extreme than I like on Max 2, so the series clearly isn't going downhill in song selection.
  23. I got Animal Crossing for Christmas last year, and it seems to have strange effects on me, lol. I'd be playing it, get really into the game, start getting as much as possible and do my best to complete the game. For about a month, I would be playing it just about every day to keep up with everything. And then one day.. I'll stop. And I won't play, usually for a couple months. The is the second time it's happened to me, and the last time I played was about a month ago, lol. When I do go back, I keep telling myself that I'll time warp and catch up on everything that I missed. I had a basement full of sets of 5 tickets for God's sake! lol Not about to waste them, that's for sure. When getting into the game itself, I think it's a fun game. It's interesting to play as a character that is on their own in their town, not doing anything inparticular, and isn't exactly like real life either. It's like a seperate life you can hold, haha. The little things you can do around the town are really interesting and fun, though the game is more time consuming than particularly difficult.
  24. When it comes to visually stunning anime, there are a few that stick out clearly in my mind. Cowboy Bebop is an amazing anime in visuals as well as story. The animation is just so detailed and beautiful, and the body parts and movement are simply so fluid. All you have to do is watch one of the amazing fight scenes and you'll know. I find the visuals alone to be rather ground-breaking in the anime industry. Samurai X clearly had a lot of support behind it, and was able to use that much higher quality due to the fact that it was a movie rather than a series. It outdoes the animation in the series in every regard, and like Bebop, it's very fluid. The visuals are just.. wow. :o On the other end of the spectrum, Nurse Witch Komugi's visuals might not be particularly detailed or anything, but it's just so pretty to watch, heh. The colors are so clear and fluid, and it fits with the story's goofy feel. So very, very easy on the eyes. ^_^
  25. This was the first manga that I picked up, and I think that it's pretty good. It's also the first manga where I can watch the anime and say, "wtf, that's not how it was in the manga!"
A good example is how in the manga, Recca knew about his power, but didn't in the anime.
And here I was thinking that those kind of things were myths. :p Not that I like one change over another necessarily, but they could have just kept it how it was. Anyway, I have the first three volumes, and I can't remember whether I read the third one yet or not. I'll have to look through it sometime. It's a pretty good story, in my opinion, and I like Recca's ninja techniques.
