If you're referring to changes in the Japanese voices, I don't think we can assume that the English ones will pick up on all the subtleties. Are you talking about alterations in Light's personality as Kira? I suppose it's possible, but.. I can see it getting even worse if they do intentionally try to change the voice, becoming overly sadistic. haha
-
Ryuk's voice wasn't too bad, but I felt it could be a little rougher, if only to distinguish him more from Light. I did enjoy his laugh, though. As for Light, I had a hard time taking him seriously as a calm and collected [evil] genius. I did not think that he portrayed the insanity well, especially in his laughing. To be honest, the voice just.. annoyed me. lol The way he sort of rose up in pitch at the end of sentences, like he was always asking a question, and I felt it was somewhat "bubbly" at times as well, as if he was too happy I suppose. I'm not sure I'll have the patience to sit through listening to him the whole series. v_v

OH MY FREAKING GOD. Sonic. In the new Smash. Who the Hell would have thought, to stray so far from Nintendo to give us such an awesome character? I'm freaking out. O_O :p Smash Bros. DOJO!!! has a video of the blue hedgehog in action, in addition to another video today that gives us some more shots of people Brawlin' out, and it all looks amazing. As if I wasn't excited enough about this game!! >_< Thank God it's not April 1st again...

Having decided early on that this anime was fantastic and worthy of being one of my favorites, the ending did not disappoint, and I couldn't be more happy with the final product. :D I've been keeping up with the manga as well, reading the corresponding chapters after each episode (since I didn't want to spoil the anime

Though I just realized I haven't posted here, I've actually been keeping up with this thread for quite a few months, ever since I saw the [halarious] first episode of Haruhi. Unfortunately, I still haven't gotten around to finishing the series yet (I think I've seen around 5 episodes at this point), and the discussion of the chronology reminded me of something I've been meaning to ask: For a first-time watcher, would it be better to watch it in order or scrambled as shown on TV? I was beginning to get pretty confused at what I'd seen so far, and was tempted just to start over from Haruhi's count. :o I'll be starting over either way, but I'd like feedback from someone who's seen the whole series, or possibly watched in both ways.

Yeah. This episode was pretty badass. After reading the corresponding chapters in the manga, I definitely appreciated the addition of slower, emotional, and symbolic scenes that set the mood of the storyline, especially when the alternative was soliloquizing that was summed up quite nicely as usual. I had already been spoiled of
L's death
about a month ago by someone in my dorm, and by the time it happened we were kind of expecting it, but..
it was still so sad.
lol I agree with you Dagger that they really went all out on the production; I watched it again later that day just so I could appreciate more of what it had to offer.
Although I was very skeptical when I heard that they had cut out
L's last line,[/spoiler'] I absolutely agree with that decision now that I've seen it. It wouldn't have worked any other way.
Indeed. My friend and I were talking about this earlier, and I came to the conclusion that it had already been illustrated so well with
his eyes
(is there anyone who couldn't tell that he was thinking along the lines of
"So.. I wasn't wrong... But.. I [lost]"
?). Plus it may have seemed somewhat distracting, since the anime didn't do as much inward thought for him as in the manga.

The sound of L's voice as he called out to him.
[/size']
*nod nod* That was a big one for me, for some reason.
I might not be one hundred percent right about this--I'm awful at keeping it straight--but I think
the notebook she originally gave Misa was the one that came from Jealous. The notebook she was writing in was her personal notebook. The one that Higuchi was using and that later entered L's possession was the one Ryuk dropped and Light picked up in episode 1. Since Jealous' notebook kept working, Rem's should as well. Basically this means Light now has three Death Notes to play with.

They also may not have been aware that she had her own notebook[/spoiler'] (can someone correct me on this?).
That all seems right to me.

Also, if I remember the details of the swap in the woods, Higuchi had Jealous'/Misa's Note (so that's the one now in police custody) and Light's old Note - Shido's originally, though that's not relevant yet - is now with Misa, attached to Ryuk. All that shuffling had to take place so that Misa could make the eye deal again with Ryuk[/spoiler'].

What Light essentially did in the woods with the swapping was switch the Death Notes of Ryuk and Rem. The one from Ryuk, on which he had the false rules written in addition to the previous ones in English, was given to Rem who would eventually pass it on to Higuchi. This was so that when Higuchi got it, and when the task force caught him, the rules would be understandable. The one from Rem, on the other hand, was buried so that Misa would retrieve her memories with her original notebook (I think that might be a requirement). As for why the shinigami were switched, it may simply be because Ryuk is an idiot and can't be trusted for Light's master plan. lol Oh wait, yeah, and Rem would be willing to kill L to save Misa.
After that anime episode, I couldn't help but finish volume 7 of the manga. So I did, and I'm surprised they could fit all that in there. haha My predictions for how they'll animate that (FUTURE SPOILERS):
most of the next episode will be a recap, but then at the end Light will be promoted and Mello and Near will be introduced, leaving it open for the next arc. The following episode, then, will have the time skip.
If they do that, the first 26 episodes will fit together rather nicely, and it will fit in with the episode titles. But damn, that leaves 10-11 episodes for 5 volumes. Good luck to them.
Well I can't say I was disappointed with them showing
Sasuke so early since I already knew it was bound to happen
. I just guess since a majority of the people who watch Naruto have already read the manga and they just assumed that showing him early would help to loose the tension many Sasuke fans have of wanting to see him in the new series.[/size']
This is probably a re-wording of what you were saying, but I was basically fine with
Sasuke being shown in a clip that had clearly reached a climax in the story
, largely because of how different the anime is being treated in relation to the manga. When Part 2 started in the manga,
Sasuke had just left, so it was natural to build suspense until he finally appeared once again.
In the anime, however, the fillers provided a large enough break between story lines that it may have been more effective to draw us into the personal urgency this way than to do it slower. *shrug* But of course, for those used to the progression in the manga this would come off as somewhat impulsive.
Oh, and did anyone else find that
Yuura's betrayal
was obviously coming?[/font']
At a certain point, I suppose, but without knowing the full implications of what's going to happen now I'm not really sure how I feel about it. lol
Anybody see the Naruto Shippuden eps? They are so awesome.
Yeap, and they're sure doing a good job of spacing it out so far, what with
the Sasuke bit at the beginning and the "keywords" segments (WTF?) where they reintroduce the main characters.
The former was an absolutely great way to start off this essentially new series (IT'S UNLICENSED OMFG), for leaving us who haven't read the manga in suspense of what lies ahead. As for the latter, I can understand them doing it for the new series, but I also know that they should be looking for things to delay catching up to the manga this time, so hopefuly such things won't become common occurance. :p The animation was very impressive, though for some animes I've been watching the quality seems to drop a bit after the first episode. Not a whole lot happened in terms of progressive the story, but it looks as though the next episode was set up nicely. Can't wait!
-
Well I mean, seeing as the fillers only affect those who are keeping up with the subtitled releases as they come out of Japan, of course it wouldn't be big news for someone watching it dubbed. lol Then again, you probably should be happy they're not continuing because when they are finally released in America (which I suspect they will) it won't be as long before they get back on track with the anime. In any case, saying you aren't stoked for the fillers to be over seems rather pointless and misleading, because at this point in time it doesn't really affect you, right? They were kind of a pain in the ***, and for those of us who watched them (for whatever reason, lol) I think it's an understatement to say we're excited. Doesn't mean you have to be excited too, but don't rain on our parade! :p
-
I think the more money they can make off Naruto, the more likely they're going to do it. I can think of quite a few fillers that found themselves in America, but not this many in one go.. Basically, if it's part of the anime, they're probably going to translate it. Now I'm just wondering when they're going to end up doing fillers again. >.o Did you actually want the fillers to keep going, Phenom?
-
Well in any case, for those of you who haven't been watching.. THE FILLERS ARE NOW OVER. I watched episode 220 on Thursday night and Naruto has officially
left the village with Jirayia
, and next episode is an hour long special where
he comes back to the village after 2 1/2 years
. However, if they're starting Shippuden right away.. they've skipped over Kakashi Gaiden! >:O Oh well, I read the manga part last night, so I'm good. Something tells me it will be made into a movie or long OVA of some sort.
-
You guys liking the current filler arc? It's not that bad
I'm not big on it mainly because I see it as completely re-using
the final episodes of the story where they captured Sasuke, and each person had to fight their "equal" rival before backup arrived.
*shrug* Then again, I didn't really like those episodes for the most part, either. lol At this point I could really care less about the fillers, though, so maybe I'm not giving them much of a chance. EDIT: Ooooh, I can really feel it now! I actually saw clips from the manga in the next episode preview, not to mention the episode name. XD I just hope they actually show Kakashi Gaiden, or I'm ganna be pissed (or probably just end up reading the manga
-
For those of you still keeping up with the fillers, did anyone else notice a jump in quality with this episode? Not the story, of course, it was still re-done crap, as usual. ^_^ But the animation was pretty smooth, and they even seemed to try putting in mouth movements in the beginning segment. Everything just seemed a bit more glossier, shinnier, newer.. I dunno how I'd feel about them using that for the upcoming episodes, but I think I would prefer them not trying to imitate mouth movements. Oh, and I thought Naruto sounded at least a little deeper than usual in that clip.
-
Argh!! Another lack of preview, at least for the one I saw. :[
I can't see how L wouldn't believe Light is guilty now, even though he doesn't have direct evidence against him. For those of you who have read the manga, I just finished the episode and have only breifly looked through the corresponding chapters (32 and 33), but it seems that the manga may have explained L's thoughts a bit better when he revealed that Misa had been arrested.
In any case, great episode, and I once again have to wait anxiously for the next one, haha.
Light's comment at the end where he said goodbye to Ryuk has really got me wondering.. Is this the last time we're going to see him in the series? ;_; Perhaps he'll have his own memories erased and then stick with Rem, or.. I have no idea. lol
I may update this later when I get around to reading the manga.
-
I thought it was a decent episode, albeit strangely humorous. lol I was thinking about listing a few of the more prominent comedic moments, but you've just about hit the nail on the head, Dagger. It's as if the series is saying, "woah, I know we're trying to kill each other, but let's not take ourselves too seriously now!" :p
Hey, manga readers, was
the full dialogue with Takada
added in for the anime version?
I quite enjoyed it, and I'm pretty sure she at least had a cameo or some kind of mention in this part of the series, but I don't recall her actually conversing with Light or anything.[/spoiler'] Either way, I thought her voice suited her character to a T. Another instance of smart casting.
*attempts as best he can to delete spoilers when quoting Dagger's post without looking* ^_^; Nah, that was in the manga as well. Nearly word for word, just as most of the series has been.
By the way, I could have sworn that someone was holding a Wiimote in the next episode preview. :animeswea
Nah, that was definitely a cell phone. I can see how you'd say that from a quick glance, but I paused it and it had a screen.
On the dramatic front, the most important developments are
L's ingenuous declaration of friendship and Rem conceding to Light about killing him.
So how do you guys feel about the former?
Is L sincere? Half-sincere? Lying through his sugar-encrusted teeth?

I think he's sort of half sincere at this point.. The distance that has always been between them makes it seem unlikely that they would consider each other friends (come to think if it, there's a lot of space between all the characters), but considering he said it was his "first friend" that might be to show his inexperience with the concept. Shikashi.. I'm also getting the feeling that if he does still have doubts about Light's innocence, this is his last-ditch attempt to appeal to whatever humanity remains in him, if you know what I mean.

As for Rem conceding to kill L, that along with his strong protection over Misa are what shocked me the most in the episode. I have a feeling that something is going to prevent it from happening.. and also that Rem will die at some point.

I've seen plenty of complaints that DN portrays women in a very unflattering light, pun intended. While Misa-Misa is a few doughnuts short of an L, in reality DN tends to portray everyone in an unflattering light. That, in its own way, can be refreshing. ~Dagger~
Yeah, I can definitely see how the author would be attempting to put humans in general in a bad light. It would be nice to see some intelligent women on the level of Light and L, though. EDIT: So Rem is a girl, then? I could see that going either way. EDIT AGAIN: I also thought I'd mention that I'm not a big fan of that song you linked to earlier. lol Maybe if they remixed it.. without the screaming.. just maybe.. We'll see, I guess.

Sweet. I picked it up today and have been playing it for the past couple hours. As you can imagine, it's definitely a lot of fun, even though I've essentially unlocked all of the one-player areas already.. I think. lol But that merely requires the completion of a boss battle in the 12 main destinations in Diamond City, each with their own character. Apart from that, there's a stage that encompasses games from all of the destinations, a stage that seems intended for fitness (believe it!), and 5 minigames. There's also another part of the city devoted to multiplayer, so who knows what treasures lie ahead there. Right now, I have to mention the instruction segments which come up whenever you have to hold the controller in a new way. They're halarious. lol I'm not even going to attempt to do justice in repeating them, and they're kind of difficult to explain, but basically.. each way you hold the controller has a specific name, such as The Umbrella, The Sketch Artist, and The Samurai. The names correspond to where the controller goes in relation to your hand and/or body, and these instructions I'm mentioning usually incorporate the name in some cheesy or exagerated way. If anyone knows where these videos are, let me know, but I don't see them in the Movie Theater.
They took out the best line of all: in the manga, when they watch [spoiler']Misa walk up the stairs to Light's room, Sayu mutters under her breath that she can see her panties.

XD Yeah, when I read the manga after I saw the episode I thought I had missed it, but then was disappointed they left it out. :( Anyone else wondering about the lack of a preview after the credits? EDIT: Sandy - nah, that wasn't directed at you.
-
*tilts head* I'm finding it surprising that some of you are saying the story line was slow in this one, especially considering how the episode when
Light kills Raye Penber's fiancee
was received earlier with such enthusiasm. :p Sure, it only covered two manga chapters, but with
the second Kira sending out multiple announcements, L once again going through serious doubts of Light's innocence, and.. by God, Misa actually meeting Light and joining forces with him,
we have ourselves quite an advancement in the storyline once again. When I showed it to my friend yesterday, he was quick to note that this ranked in his top 5 favorites, which I mention in case some of you are reading this and have not yet seen the episode. Don't be discouraged! ~_^
[spoiler']I'm all on the crazy couple's side (I can't decide which one has "lost it" more, Light or Misa), I wish that together they kick L's scrawny, confused butt. ;P

My vote is definitely for
Light being more crazy.
Just look at how
detached he is from it all, hugging Misa and promising to try to be a good boyfriend when he makes that smirk that just screams "I'm going to use you in whatever way I can to get what I want." She means absolutely nothing to him, while her goal is to be as true to her feelings as she could be.

He he, Misa certainly is eager to please. I can't decide whether I think she's an idiot or not. She's just so all over the place. It seems she can do something stupid and smart at the same time. At least that's how it seemed to me.
She seems to get by with common sense, but it's no where near the analyzing that L and Light go to.
Without joining up with Light, she would most definitely make mistakes and be caught rather quickly.

And wasn't that
fake embrace
just the best? I suppose Light felt the need to prove what an excellent actor he is.
"See? I can hug people really dramatically. I'll have no problems pretending to be your boyfriend."

It seems to me that if he's proving his acting ability (over and above the massive acting he's shown us already), it's done for us as the audience rather than Misa. For all Misa knows,
his hug was sincere and he's honestly trying to be her boyfriend
, rather than simply pretending. I think this reinforces how out of it he is in comparison to his pawns, but I suppose that gets us into the debate of whether it's the crazy person or the crazy person who follows him that's more crazy.

Okay, so.. it seems that Death Note has finally been licensed. Sort of, I think. lol The major fansubbing companies that I have been following - Toriyama's World, Live-eviL, [strike]and Animanda[/strike] (HINT HINT) - have removed all download links from their sites. Live-eviL thankfully provided a link to this page: http://www.animeondvd.com/news/pr.php?pr_view=915 The article is titled "Viz Media Secures Landmark Agreement To Make Death Note Anime Series Available For Download", but after skimming it a bit I'm still confused by exactly what this entails. Essentially, VIZ is going to let you download Death Note (to rent or to own) shortly after it airs in Japan. What they don't answer, however, is where you can do this, how much it costs, and how shortly after it airs that it will be available.
VIZ Media, LLC (VIZ Media), one of the entertainment industry's most innovative and comprehensive publishing, animation and licensing companies, has announced that it has licensed from Nippon Television Network Corporation (NTV) the Download to Own (DTO) and Download to Rent (DTR) rights for the United States for the smash hit DEATH NOTE anime series, currently airing in Japan. The deal is significant because it marks the first time a well known Japanese anime property will be made legally available to domestic audiences for download to own while the title still airs on Japanese television. VIZ Media will seek to make the series available to consumers through a number of online providers in order to reach the widest audience possible. [blah blah blah]
Here's how I see the fillers: watch them if you like, but don't bother "judging" Naruto by them. The anime obviously derives its content from the manga, and when the show first started it caught up with the manga rather quickly. I'm not sure exactly where the manga was when the fillers started, but since an anime episode generally encompasses more than one chapter, there wouldn't have been much more raw content to use (the anime isn't going to go further than the manga, of course). And even if they had gone all the way up to the manga, they would have left right in the middle of the story line; if they released episodes as the manga came out, we'd probably get one every.. month and a half, if we're lucky. In the manga, there's a defining point of separation, and the anime ended nearly on that point (except for Kakashi Gaiden). Personally I'd rather get these new episodes all at once than killing myself over waiting for each one, haha. I can understand that people may get frustrated when watching the fillers, but it's either that or no Naruto at all for a couple years. If you decide to watch it, you're making the choice of being moderately entertained until the actual storyline progresses once again. Just don't expect any content that will relate to true character or story development to come. In hindsight, I think it will be seen that these fillers were for the best, even though the fillers themselves could be more interesting. :p That being said, I can't wait until February. lol
I'm not sure if this is an indication of the speed at which they're moving but I'm currently reading the manga after I see eps and keeping up that way. ANyway as I'm getting it in chapters that's the way I'll be saying this of 108 chapters in the manga I've currently read 25 and I'm exactly where episode 11 finishes. I'm not sure how quick that means they're moving but I'd say they're almost 1/3rd of the way through their currently planed episode count and yet barely 1/4 of the way through the plot of the manga. I do however know that anime series will differ on occasions from their manga counterpart but as this has almost been the same I'm not sure how it will go.
Yeah, I'm currently doing the same thing. As you mentioned, they've just finished chapter 25 which completes volume 3 of the manga. I hadn't thought to compare the anime and manga proportions, but you're right.. seeing as the manga has 12 volumes, they're only roughly a fourth of the way through. Of course, since I haven't read the whole manga myself I'm not sure which parts are possible to speed up, though the anime has certainly been very close so far as everyone has been saying. Reading the manga and watching the anime so close together, I feel like I'm appreciating little bits of each that aren't in the other. heh Granted, I don't read manga very often anyway so this probably happens all the time. :p A couple of things that come to mind are
the writing scene
from episode one of the anime, and in chapter 16 of the manga when
Light has realized his room is bugged and Ryuku is telling him that he wants to play Mario Golf. XD
Also..
I noticed that Light's eyes seem to slowly narrow during the manga chapters I was reading, which doesn't seem to occur in the anime. In particular, if you look at where they are in relation to the anime (chapter 25), and then look back at the first chapter, Light looked a lot younger and kinder.
If that was intentional.. fantastic. lol At this point I'll take a step back and check out some old posts that I'm able to respond to now.
Anyway, this would be a good point at which to start paying attention to
the parallels between L and Light.
Who in the series--and it doesn't have to be those two; far from it--is truly justified? Who is honestly striving to do the right thing?
Much as I love L, the inherent differences between him and Light are uncomfortably minor.[/spoiler'] I think the anime will force viewers to acknowledge this as well.
That's pretty interesting.. because I've been
contrasting them more
in the past couple episodes. Now that I think about it though, that would be the obvious maneuver. :animesigh I noticed that the anime has tried to show some of these
parallels
, like Raye's fiancé telling Light that
he reminds her of L, but I shrugged it off as a comparison of intelligence or "powers of deduction."
Hopefully thinking further about this won't spoil things that occur later in the series. lol I used the spoil tags just in case that does end up happening. You're doing fine with your spoiler tags, by the way, I just tend to read too far into things and probably would have picked up on the
parallels
eventually anyway.
Anyway, episode 7 was fantastic. The ending actually left me breathless. I thought it improved on the manga in several respects, such as clearly showing
why Aizawa happened to cross paths with Light at that point in the story
instead of leaving it as an unexplained two-page spread that left manga readers bewildered and full of speculation. In the manga version, if I'm remembering right, [spoiler']Aizawa basically appears out of nowhere during that one scene, but his figure had such a prominent place in the panel--appearing in the foreground with Light and Naomi--that it ended up confusing people.

I had read your post before so I was looking out for that part of the manga (chapter 14, volume 2), and.. it seemed to explain it just fine. Just as in the anime,
L told Aizawa to go to headquarters so that there would be someone there to make it look like they're doing something.
I don't think the manga took it to the extent of the anime though, showing
the building close by and Aizawa walking along, opening his umbrella.

It's an ideal of mine to try to watch anime with an eye towards larger themes and concerns. This is not possible with Death Note. Finally in the tenth episode they whap us over the head with the impending moral lesson
via Raito's dad
, but while one is watching this scene one is actually conscious of thinking: "Whew, I'm glad that's finally out, let's get back to
L sitting in cute poses and Raito eating potato chips.[/spoiler']" It's just not the kind of show that one can think about any more carefully than this, it crumbles like ancient parchment the moment anything like a critical stance approaches. Rather, the only way to watch it is with a kind of of mad glee (or, if you prefer, gleeful madness).
What I love about the series so far is that it does give the option to look at it on the larger scheme of things. It's possible to see it as sort of a hypothetical story that plays out various abstract ideas that the creator is considering; while I'm sure this is an ideal that many animes hope to accomplish, Death Note is always throwing subtle insights into justice, truth, human psychology, etc. They've been whacking us over the head with these the whole time, but I can see how the comment from Cheif Yagami seems particularly blatant. And if you don't want to watch it that way, you're still in for an interesting story. :] I'd just like to think that there was some higher positive agenda in mind in terms of relaying a message above your average cool story, ya know? The last thing that I want to add is something I had forgotten to mention in my last post. I noticed that it had been a while since the series took a step back and showed how
the world was receiving Kira and his actions.
The last time they had done this was the first couple episodes, but of course shortly after I started wondering about that, episode 11 came out and we saw that
the police and others were willing to stand up to this deformed sense of justice.
Even so, this was largely due to
Misa's actions
, so I'm glad they mentioned that
newscasters were opposing Kira beforehand.
Yeah, I'm typing this from my Wii as well. >:D (btw, that icon took forever :/) Anyway, I definitely like the concept of this feature even if, as Charles pointed out for the [strike]Weather[/strike] Forecast channel, it does illustrate Nintendo's questionable priorities, and as Des pointed out, it really doesn't work quite well enough to actually want to use it a lot. I think it's done relatively well though, utilizing the ease of the wiimote with the automatic word chooser when typing, and it should work fine when just going from page to page or looking* up something really quick. In that sense, it seems to be for people who really can't pull themselves away from their systems. After all, we can assume that if they already have an internet connection, they probably have a computer as well, which would be much easier. After typing on this for a bit, however, I think I'm sort of getting used to it. lol *I originally quoted Des, and apparently ran out of space at this point. :o
-
Like others here, I don't think I really started taking that "weak strap" thing seriously until I read some of these posts. :o I haven't had a problem, but then I don't think the controller has slipped out of my hand yet. Something to be extra careful about, I suppose.. However, I did slightly chip it in a couple places when I was bowling in Wii Sports, forgetting that there was a column behind me. Everyone should be cautious about how much these wiimotes will probably take quite a beating in years to come, and how in a few months we won't even care. lol In other news, I'm very happy with my Wii so far! I picked it up at around 9 on launch day and have been [strike]playing it[/strike] wanting to play it ever since. :D Nah, I have had a lot of time to play some Wii Sports and Zelda so far, and actually ran through the packaged batteries after around 30-35 hours. You can't turn the remote on or off, so that can be frustrating at times, but it doesn't take too long to go off by itself if you leave it sitting there. Of course, you can save battery life by lowering the volume on the remote and turning off the vibrate, though I can't part with the vibrate after going so long with only wavebirds, and the lower volume seems to sacrifice sound quality. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to play at all this week save an hour Monday night, mainly because finals are coming up so teachers are pushing the final workload. It's so frustrating, because I'm on the third doungen in Zelda and I want to plaaaayyyy! ;_; The two games that I have played so far are Wii Sports (obviously) and Zelda, though technically I do own Red Steel as well. After hearing bad reviews, I told myself I would wait to open it until I played it somewhere else, and if I didn't like it I could just go back and exchange it for another game. I haven't gotten the chance to play it anywhere, however, and any secondary games I've been considering seem to be based more on taste than something like Zelda that people really have to get. Not that I expected another Zelda, but if you guys have suggestions I'd love to hear them. One thing I've been thinking about is just turning it back in for store credit and waiting until another game comes out that I do want. In addition, I was going to sell my GameCube and some old games that I've gone through lately and believe to be of no lasting value to me. I bet the amount I can get for a GameCube, even one in good condition, has gone down a lot, right? Even so, I would like some money towards Brawl when that comes out, which I saw on 1up should be [strike]February[/strike] June 1st, and I was planning on accumulating four controllers by then too. I like the way the Wii has done things so far. In terms to hardware, I like the controller set-up, being able to turn on and off the system by the remote, the retro system design, the design of the stand and how well it compliments the system, and the self-loading disc tray, to name a few. And in terms of software, the Mii is cool, and so are the Wii channels in general, also the classic games for download, the hard drive, etc. Once again, yeah, I'm pretty satisfied so far.
"believe it!!" :animeangr . to me the japanese verson is much beter and I haven't yet herd naruto say "believe it" once, if that bothers you like it does me
"Dattebayo!" ;) They don't sub it, but he says it after nearly every sentence, haha. I looked it up and aparently it's something like.. ya know; there are other variations he supposedly uses, but honestly I only really notice this one. When they dub it you're going to notice it more of course, but it's essentially there nonetheless. So you have heard it, just haven't read it. I started watching Naruto about a year ago, I think, and only recently caught up completely a couple weeks ago. The anime is great, and I love some of the themes despite how obvious they make them. :p Rock Lee is by far my favorite character for the extent to which he always pushes himself at every task, which I find very inspiring. He's also damn cool for keeping up with everyone just by using taijutsu. The fillers aren't that great, but I can't stop myself from downloading the episode every week and watching more. Sure, I could read the manga or avoid watching them, but.. it will be so rewarding once I reach the story again. Not to mention I don't really read much manga, since I usually find out about the anime first and would rather watch that. As for the dub version, I don't watch it. I've seen part of an episode and was somewhat horrified, but that was probably mostly because I was used to the sub. However, I noticed that the voices resembled something like what I'd normally find in a cartoon here in America - slightly more bubbly and similar among the characters. My Japanese friend tells me that Naruto is targeted to middle schoolers in Japan, though, and while I could care less in terms of myself watching it, it would make sense to target to the same audience over here. And that seems to entail watering it down a bit, at least from my perspective.

Holy crap, I have no idea how this anime does it. lol They absolutely deliver on every single episode (which is such a relief since I still watch Naruto for some reason :p), progressing the story line and my interest with every scene. I think this is fast becoming one of my favorite animes, and it's on number 9, leaving me wondering how they can keep this up for another 28. So apparently there are three arcs to the manga, the third of which is the longest, and the first two which should complete roughly within the length of season one? I've been keeping up with the episodes and this thread, but I think there was just something about this last episode that made me want to post again, haha. I just love the extent to which the story explores the clash of L and Light to outwit each other in so many fantastic ways. The philosophy and psychology behind the anime is still what I'm all about, and I'm pretty much convinced that Light's fundamental mistake was
his initial goal of doing this to become a God, rather than holding ideal justice as something good in itself. I guess the question becomes whether justice can be theoretically attained by killing vicious people.
I'm also still waiting for that
second Death Note to come into the picture
... (this isn't a spoiler for anyone who's seen the first episode) By the way, Dagger, your Japanese makes me jealous. ;_; All in good time, I suppose.. then I can watch anime episodes 2-3 days in advance as well. >:D
