I must not watch that many non-anime cartoons, lol. So instead of a top 10, my top 5 will have to do for now. If this was anime, it would be no problem at all, but that's just the kind of anime freak I am, lol. :p [list=1] [*]Family Guy [*]South Park [*]Sponge Bob Square Pants [*]Simspons [*]Fairly Odd Parents [/list]If you can't tell by my selection, I tend to go for the crazier, stupid kind of cartoons that you can usually get a quick, good laugh out of, to an extent, lol. Family Guy is by far the funniest cartoon I've ever seen, and I absolutely love the kind of humor that they aim for. As soon as I knew that the DVDs were out, I bought them, and deffinitely have not regreted the purchase. :p South Park is just really cool. It's funny, the impressions are great, and I love how they try to make fun of so many different things. It's also interesting to see the generic elementary school kids put into much more adult situations. Sponge Bob. Come on, how can you not love the insanity that is Sponge Bob? I was hesitant to start watching it at first since it's associated with a much younger audience, but it really is a great show. XD The only problem about this and other Nick shows is that you watch so many repeats that you just get tired of watching it. Simpsons is just a classic that shouldn't be left out of the list. I've been watching it my whole life, and always enjoyed watching all of their adventures. There was one point where I would watch the show twice every night for a couple years, and after that, the show seemed to lose it's magic for me. And in the Simpsons vs. Family Guy argument, I'd place Family Guy on top any day as easily being the funniest. Fairly Odd Parents is another show that I don't watch much because of repeats, but I still very much enjoy the wackiness of it. It's just so.. random. I love it!

An actual release date for DDR Extreme USA has finally been announced! According to [url=http://www.gamefly.com/products/static/PlayStation%202%20Dance%20Dance%20Revolution%20Extreme%20%20Arcade%20Puzzle%20%20Konami%20109385.htm]this site[/url], which I found by coincidence today when looking for the price of an Extreme arcade machine, it will be released [b]9/23/04[/b]. For those of you who haven't really been following this game, it is supposed to include 70 new songs that you can't find in previous US releases, which I am really looking forward to. :) The big issue right now is getting licenses for as many songs as possible, which aparently are mainly American songs, but that's okay, I guess. The new game is also compatible with Sony's EyeToy and adds such mini games as "Clean the Screen", "Coconut Panic", "Hands and Feat", and "Watch Me Dance". "Clean the Screen" is pretty basic, and is a mode where you have to move your hands around to get the stuff out of the way so you can see the arrows that you dancing to. I'm not really sure what's up with "Cococnut Panic." There doesn't appear to be any arrows, so it shouldn't be any different than a regular EyeToy game. "Hand and Feat" is a mode where you dance to the arrows, and hit tiny balls that are coming up on the side of the screen with your hands. It gets your arms and legs a workout. ;) And lastly, "Watch Me Dance" is the same as regular DDR, except it shows you in the background with help from the eye toy. Could be kind of distracting, though, but which of these mini-games isn't? I don't think I'll be playing much of these extra stages, as I will be busy enough with the new songs, but it's a very interesting touch. :)

Saying that something is cool isn't going to cut it; you have to expand on it and say why you think it's cool, what parts you like the best, or perhaps parts that could be improved upon.

My brother got the EyeToy last Christmas, and after trying it out for a day, we really haven't gone back to it other than one occasion when my friend asked to play it. It looks sleek on top on my TV, for sure, but I don't get a whole lot of enjoyment out of the game other than a a few laughs. Could be kind of funny if a lot of my friends came over and played it. There is one thing that I'm surprised no one else mentioned that actually makes me really glad that I own an EyeToy. According to the trailer and different news bits everywhere, EyeToy will be compatible with the upcoming DDR: Extreme USA, which creates different modes users can play. You can play a regular game with the EyeToy image in the background, you can move away leaves so that you can see the arrows, and you can hit circles as they float up the side of the screen, as well as participate in a number of seperate mini-games altogether. What's good about these additions with the EyeToy, in my opinion, is that it gives your arms a workout in addition to your legs. ;)

Of course, no one is going to be an expert their first time, or even good, and you have to work up to that. When you get to Heavy mode and start beating more and more difficult songs, it's just so [i]satisfying. [/i]^_^ It's true that some of the music could be better, but this is mainly a pop/techno type selection, which is best for the dancing that it's aiming at. Trust me, if you put your favorite rock songs on there, or something, it would be near-impossible with all of the fast beats. o_o As for the dancing aspect, you should know by now that it's not even truely dancing. :p I don't know how to dance, myself, but the point of the game isn't to teach you such anyway. It's a video game, and if anything, it helps with exercise and keeping a beat, which you [i]could[/i] relate to actual dancing, but if you tried to dance like that in a club or something you would be thrown out in a second. [b]My Experience:[/b] I had been hearing about DDR for a long time before I finally decided to try it out for myself. This was only last Winter, so Max2 was already out, and there were already many, many dedicated players, including everyone in my close group of friends. Not only did they play it on a regular basis, but they all owned it and were on Heavy mode before I finally decided to try it out. So when I started playing, I was around some decent players, but it still took be a while to get the hang of it. About a month after I played for the first time, my one friend, Joe, invited a lot of people over to his house, and when they broke out the DDR, they let me go through the practice mode, which helped a lot. The next day, I bought DDR for myself. When I went to Walmart, they only had two combo packages with Max2 and a soft Konami pad left, so I got one and headed home. The problem was, I soon found out, the pad worked great and everything but the disc just kept giving the disc read error. By the time I returned it and got the last combo package, I realized that my PS2 was almost dead. -_- When my brother and I finally managed to get the money to buy a new PS2, I could finally begin my DDR training! On a side note, I never saw the Max2 and pad combo in Walmart ever again. o_O That was about 6 months ago, and I have since gone from Beginner to Heavy Mode with the help of lots of practice, and having friends that will play Versus with me a lot. Almost 2 months ago, I added Max and a RedOctane Ignition 2 pad to my collection, but the Ignition pad stopped working and I sent it back to be replaced under the 60 day warranty. I'm still awaiting the new pad, but in the meantime, my friend agreed to buy it from me so that I would have enough money to buy a RedOctane metal pad (see the third part of my post). Both should arrive any day now. :) As you can see, the main focus of my growing DDR obsession has been with the home version, but I'm slowly branching out to the arcade in front of people and with a very different pad. The first time that I played in the arcade was at Six Flags America over a month ago, and I made a total fool out of myself at a time when I was transitioning from Standard to Heavy. Then a couple weeks ago I played in a mall that's near my old neighborhood in Silver Spring, and I made a fool out of myself again, not because I wasn't confident in my skill, but because I really wasn't used to the arcade. Then about a week ago, I went down to Ocean City, and on two different nights I played on the boardwalk, and I finally got used to people watching, to the awkward pad compared to the one at home, and I was good enough to hold my own. When I went to Six Flags America to play today with a friend who's a lot better than I am, it came naturally, and I'm at a point where I just need to get better, rather than get used to it. Overall, I'm starting to prefer arcade to home, too. I was talking with one guy a couple weeks ago who was AAing almost all of his songs, and he says that in the home version, there's a larger window to hit perfects. It's still a small window, but aparently in the arcade it's smaller. *shrug* [b]Which Pad?[/b] I've been using a non-slip Konami pad for the most part the entire time playing at home, and like I mentioned before, I plan to sell my Ignition 2 pad so that I can pay for a metal one that's already being sent. I've always dreamed of buying a metal pad, but never really had the money, but I'm beginning to rething my purchase. Tonight I was searching for reviews of different metal pads, and I found that the general consensus is that RedOctane's metal pad really pales in comparison to Cobalt Flux or making your own pad. For one, RO's costumer service has never been a problem for me, but a lot of people complain about how they don't really think of the costumer very much. The parts used to make the metal pad are also aparently of low quality, and overall it may only last 2 months, which is how long the warranty is. Cobalt Flux, as everyone seems to believe, is made with really high grade material and the warranty lasts 6 months. Their customer service is said to be reliable and the pad with last for well over a year. And, of course, when you make your own pad, you can make it however you like. This is how I see it, though: This might just be because I already ordered the metal pad and everything, but it is at least $100 cheaper than CF. I don't know if I want to spend $300 plus shipping on a metal pad, you know? And I have absolutely NO IDEA where I would start in making my pad, where I could get the materials, and how I can cut them how I like. I'm in desperate need of help here, though, which is why I came searching for this thread in the first place. I suppose if I had to.. I do have a birthday coming up, and I might be able to squeeze out another $100 if I ABSOLUTELY have to, and if RedOctane's pad is [i]really[/i] that bad. I guess the only way to see for myself is by giving it a 2-month trial under the warranty. Oh, and one more question. Are there any sites that anyone knows of that show how you could mod or clean a RO metal pad? lol I mean, if I'm going to stick to that, I might as well know how to keep it in the best shape that I can so that it doesn't fall apart. *eagerly awaits US Extreme coming in September* I still can't believe there's no solid release date yet. >_< EDIT: Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the level that I'm at right now. I can get an A on nearly every 7 foot, and pass.. I'll say, not most, but a lot of 8 feet songs, and a few 9 feet. I can get a D on Afronova on Heavy, but I'm still trying to improve on that and get better at using every other foot for the fast-beat parts.

To answer the original question: [b]Miss.[/b] If you read my previous post, you'll understand that I was very excited about the movie. The trailers make it look like a very interesting film, but after finally watching it, I have to say that in my honest opinion that it didn't really live up to the hype. The acting seemed off and not very well done, and some of the speech made me feel like I was watching an intermediate, dramatic play. The person who seemed like the main character, whatever his name is from Signs, did have an important role but very rarely said anything at all, and my brother told me that he didn't want a very talkative position, which I think is just rediculous. I mean, if you want to be in a movie, you can't just whine until all you have to do is walk around and wave to the camera. *shakes head* The idea of the story itself was interesting, I suppose, but contrary to all of the trailers... well, I'll just say that the creatures weren't the main part of the story. Oh, and get this: when they were showing the credits at the beginning and the title popped up, someone actually screamed in the movie theater. XD Now for the spoilers.. [spoiler]Like I said before, I like the idea of these people hating how cruel the world was on the outside due to money, and so they're trying to shield their children from it by creating a town free of this evil. And then, so they don't get curious about going outside of the village, they create the idea about these monsters that will attack them if they leave. I may not [i]agree[/i] with their opinions about shielding from reality, but I can see where they're coming from. I just didn't like the execution of the movie, personally. Things like how Ivy seemed like she could see, at first, such as when she raced to the rock and knew that Lucious was there, to the point where it took me a while to realize that she was blind. Steadily throughout the movie she seemed to act more and more blind, however. I also thought it was very strange that the parents would treat the kids, even as old as 30 or 40, as if they were 13, and they acted like it too. I'm still trying to figure out what the motive was behind this; is Shymalan trying to show that they never grew up?[/spoiler] I haven't read any other posts, and I'll edit my post once I have. But for now, I'm tired, so I'm going to get to bed.

They were showing Hero at an anime convention in Baltimore that I went to, Otakon, but by the time I found out that they were playing it, it had already started and I didn't want to have missed anything. I was wondering, though.. when they say that Tarantino is bringing it to the states, is he planning on dubbing it as well? Otherwise, I can't imagine how it would be that hard simply to show the film subtitled over here.

If you've ever seen Excel Saga, it's somewhat like that, but this has more of a story-line and is arguably less wacky. :o If you don't understand the first episode, that's perfectly understandable. Like you said, you should probably watch all six episodes first, and your motivation would be to continue watching until you get into the "Fooly Cooly mood" and start to understand it as best you can. And if you have any questions about it, you can always refer to this thread. :) You may also want to look through this thread after watching the series, because there are some posts, Kazuko's in particular, that go [i]really[/i] into detail and help you understand even the smallest psychological points. EDIT: Hmm. I could have [i]sworn[/i] it was Kazuko, but aparently it was WitchLustX. Still, you should check it out.

But for younger audiences whose parents don't want them to be watching these uncensored programs, they edit programs so that those individuals can still watch it without their parents going through a good deal of worrying about what's on.

Okay, before I say anything else, I'm going to tell you right now that this was probably one of the, if not the funniest movie that I've ever seen in my life. :o The only reason why I can come to that conclusion is because I was literally laughing throughout the entire film, and for the rest of the night, all I could say was, "damn, that was an awesome movie." It certainly brightened my day after seeing The Bourne Sepremecy, personally. If you have somehow missed the previews for this movie (and I've already talked to many who have, so I guess it's not surprising, even though I've been seeing them everywhere) the overall story is pretty straightforward. It's about these guys named Harold and Kumar who decide to go to White Castle. O.o Without giving too much away, this sudden burst of hunger comes after the two roomates get really, really high. Of course, the obvious choice is to then get in a car and go driving! :D So on their journey they run into a number of obstacles, such as [spoiler]running out of pot, getting a flat tire, getting arrested, not finding White Castle where they expected to, getting lost, getting picked on by these insane white guys, getting bitten by a racoon, having their car stolen, having their money stolen, and more[/spoiler], not neccesarily in that order. It's really a great movie, and goes deeper than the surface jokes by examining racial discrimination in today's society. Obviously the movie isn't for everyone, as there are a lot of drug refferences (though I believe it's just pot, but it's reinforced throughout the whole movie), and there is brief nudity at some points. But even so, unless you are strictly against the two, I recommend the movie to everyone, especially those looking for a great laugh.

Hold up, go back for a second. When you say "where you come from", what do you mean? Your city, your state, your country? And how do they plan to ban anime and cartoons? By taking them off tv and out of stores? O_o It seems very unlikely that they would find a way to do ban all forms of animation, in the first place, realistically. Obviously they should know that regardless of what they think is right or wrong, it's essentially up to a child's parents and what they think is okay for their kid to watch. My parents, for example, let me and my younger brother who only recently turned 14 watch R rated movies whenever we want, because they don't want to shelter us from the harsh realities of the world when we finally move out on our own. They feel that people who are overly sheltered might have more of a backlash when they finally get out of their parent's watchful eyes. It's those kids you need to watch out for. ;) Anime and cartoons are the same way, and even though I doubt they pay much attention to the ratings on those, I don't think they would really care, either. Or rather.. not so much not care, as not mind. Of course, there are other parents who don't want their kid to see PG-13 until they're 13, R until they're 17, etc., and for those parents they should put more violent animes and cartoons on later and also allow those parents to restrict their kids from watching them if they wish to do so. And as far as I know, they already do that, so I don't really see the problem. As for the support that you say that they are using, that doesn't really make much sense, lol. First of all, I find anime and cartoons to be educational to an extent, and encourage brain power rather than waste it. It exposes you to another culture and other ideas, and if they were to take that away, they would also have to take away other "violent" programs that aren't animated, which would just leave PBS. Like Solo said, it isn't the media that you need to put the blame on, it's the parents who never taught their kids right from wrong. In any case, I don't really feel that this a realistic attempt to ban animation, so don't look for any excuse to complain about it, heh. Because honestly, we could all complain for days.

Hehe, very entertaining and funny animation as usual, DW. Anything for new material, eh? XD A do have a question and request, though. First off, were you peeing on the active member list? :o Because if you were, I think you need to get that checked out. Some of the frames could also be a bit longer, such as the first post, and my profile, so we could get a chance to read everything. I know I mentioned this to you on AIM, but when I first watched the animation, I thought you had said "Why do you look like Satan?" When I watched it the second time and realized my mistake, I noted that I thought it was a lot funnier the first time. ;p You set it up for part two very nicely, and I'm anxious for you to finish making it.

Going from the previews that I saw for this film, The Village looks like it has the potential to be a very entertaining movie. I've been anticipating it for about a month now, and will see it as soon as possible. When I first saw it, though, I thought it was going to be some settler movie at first, lol, but by the end of the trailer I was hooked. I've seen M. Night Shyamalan's other three films (though he probably made others, I don't know), and I have to say that I loved them all. The Sixth Sense was a great horror-type movie, and while I haven't seen it in a while, I remember that it left a good taste in my mouth. Unbreakable was awesome because the plot felt very professional in showing a modern day, more subtle superhero movie. There were a lot of people that didn't really like Signs because [spoiler]they ended up showing the alien at the end[/spoiler], but that didn't really ruin the rest of the movie for me because they had just set it up so well, and the outcome wasn't [i]that[/i] bad. Due to the large amount of people noted their dislike about that part of Signs, I'm supposing that Shyamalan will have learned from his mistake, meaning that I'll take a guess to say that it's unlikely we'll see the creatures of the forest in The Village. What I like about Shyamalan's movies is that they just have such a great appeal, which I speak from experience having seen them all in theaters, lol. As for what type of movie this is, they set it up to look like a scary movie, but they did that with Signs and that wasn't truely a horror film. He has potential, though, as we saw in Sixth Sense.
