I hope no one minds me bringing this thread back, lol. I just followed the link in the thread directory and it seems no one has posted in it in quite a while. Anyway, I recently bought the series through a site that I normally go to for anime, selling it on two DVDs for $15. Yes, there were minor video problems and one or two pauses, but otherwise you definitely got a lot of bang for your buck. So I watched all 13 episodes through one about a week ago, and like others who have posted here I was very confused by it all. It did keep me captivated, and I suppose that I got the overall jist of it, but I will have to go back and watch it again, perhaps twice, to make sense of much of it. I actually came to this thread hoping that someone would be able to explain some of the more confusing aspects, haha. Nothing in particular, but you know, just something that would help me understand a little more of what was going on during the series. I do get the feeling that we weren't intended to get how different things in Lain's world existed, like what all of that equipment attached to her computer did (and I don't mean a general statement like how it broadened her power in the Wired), and how the Wired was able to connect everyone into this other world, which I think would have helped the understanding. I do find it funny, though, that so many people seem to love this anime, but the same people don't really understand a lot of it. I mean, it was a good anime, but I can't compare it to my favorites until I understand it well enough. :/ I always like to have short descriptions of animes that I've seen to tell my friends, and I think for this anime I'll say that it was really good, but trippy as Hell, lol.
I saw the first episode today, I love the opening song ^^
The opening song is indeed very cool.
though most animet seems like it's one of the most confusing animes ever, too...
That doesn't make any sense. :)
I don't know if it could be more confusing than Evangelion, or not, but I am definately going to check this out, because it sounds good. I'll just have to finish Scryed first.
Maybe it's because I've seen Eva like 5 times and made myself understand everything, but I'll say Lain was more confusing. Take that as you will.

Well, considering this is an Art forum, and members are free to share work that they've created in graphic programs such as Photoshop, I think that this thread would do fine here, heh. If you want to change the extension, just click the down arrow for the dop down menu when saving your piece. Simple as that.
I think it looks excellent, especially as you only did it in MS paint

I like't..!^^ u are better than me u make sigs..my first one was a crap.....-_-!
This.. is not constructive criticism. Please read the sticky at the top of the Art forum.
well, lately i've had feelings for someone, and it's kind of creeping me out. i'm a strait male, and i have never found a guy attractive before, but this guy is special. he's so sweet and caring, and he's suprisingly hot. i don't know what to do becuase, as a christian, i'm supossed to be strait. this guy seems to be strait, or atleast on the outside. i have reason to doubt it. i just don't know what to do. he's actually a mod here. i don't know what it is about syk, but i just can't stop thinking about him. what should i do?
:smooch: And here I thought you'd never return my love! Anywho. :o As you may or may not know, I was involved in a pretty long internet relationship that kind of stemmed from a crush. In the end, though, she helped me realize that it was really too difficult to sustain such a relationship simply through AIM and by phone, so we broke it off. For those of you who currently have internet crushes, if you develope it and truely love each other, the bounds can be overcome, but be prepared for a lot of commitment. As for myself, I'm done with internet relationships for now. I'd like to have an offline partner, and I did have a crush at one time last year, but I'm much too shy to approach a girl that I have feelings for, lol. :p So I've decided that I'm just not going to worry about it, and wait until I'm a little older and can provide for a more mature relationship, but if the right girl comes along, who am I to deny the opportunity? haha
-
Yer so mean, DW. :< Anyway, yes. You wouldn't believe all the make up they had me wear just for that quick shoot. Must have taken at least 8 hours. Not to mention the difficulties of being in a relationship with one of the other cast members. :smooch: *winks at Shin* XD Another great animation from Dragon Warrior. Keep 'em coming. You know my agent's number. :)

I can move it, but I want you to know that you've broken a number of rules in this thread. In addition to the thread being in the wrong forum, it's against OtakuBoards rules to make another account and to double post, all three of which can easily be avoided. 1. Read the forums carefully and the forums around it. 2. PM Charles, the administrator, and request a new screen name, rather than making a whole new account. 3. Use the Edit button at the bottom of your post to add whatever you may have forgotten. Please use these steps wisely, and remember to read the rules before you do anything else. ~_^ Welcome to OtakuBoards.
-
Please read the rules before you go and double or even triple post. Keep in mind that you can attach up to five images in one post, but because of your disregard for rules, I'm just going to go ahead and close the thread.

So basically.. you want the person making the banner to find a picture of a guy putting the toilet seat down? XD Not to mention the bikini on the cat girl picture that you attached is a little.. *tight*. I don't think so. :p Try rethinking the idea a little bit.

I don't know about you or anyone else, but the pictures are just coming up as small x's for me. :/

Uhhh.. Please keep this to theOtaku Fanart, as this doesn't really create a topic on OtakuBoards. People are going to be idiots when voting on your art; don't let it bother you, and continue drawing keeping true critique in mind.

I just got this crazy idea.. Why don't you type in "Shaman King Trey pics" in google and see what you get? :p
It is all very cool, I love your Squishy AVATAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL i like your avatar, nice work . I prefer the icey banner it goes together better with your ava.
Please.. let's include a little more constructive criticism in our posts. If you don't know what I'm talking about, please refer to the sticky thread in the art forum. Oh, and I don't know if it was deliberate, but you spelled "squishy" wrong in your avatar. o_o It says "squisy".

Yeeaaahh. Well, I can't say that this thread would make much sense to put in the art forum. In fact, I don't think this thread would work very well in Music, either, because you can't really get a discussion out of getting people to join a group. You know what, just desregard the post and give some feedback on the splash picture. I'll be watching this thread and seeing how that goes, because it might be difficult to critique when the majority is text. :o If you want to talk Boy Bands, feel free to start a thread in Music. ;)

I remember reading Ender's Game for summer reading back before 9th grade, and now my brother is reading it for his own summer project. I don't remember too much about the book except that
Ender is really young and was recruited as a military genious to destroy the aliens which he thought was a game
, and that I really liked it. I never read Ender's Shadow, though I think a friend of mine told me about once. As for the books being made into a movie, I would love to see it but don't want to get my hopes up in case it doesn't turn out so well (can you say Harry Potter?). ^_^

One thread is enough. :)

Yikes, these posts really seem to leave me by myself in this thread. X.x
Regarding Farenheit 9/11...I read your spoilers, Syk3 and I can tell you right now, I can sit here and pick a million holes in those points. Why? Not because they're outright wrong (in some cases), but because they only show one side of the truth -- the side that Moore is aligned to. Unfortunately, if one were to consider much of this "evidence" as cold-hard fact...one would only be getting a very limited view of the complexities of the world.
Well, as you know, the only "evidence" that I'm getting is from the film. If I can't consider that "evidence" as fact even when keeping in mind that this is one side of an issue that Moore feels strongly about, then where do the lies end and the truth begin? And in those certain cases of the points being outright wrong, how would Moore get away with presenting something that's outright wrong? O_o I suppose that you'd categorize this movie under "don't believe everything you hear", and that it's only showing only one side of an argument to get a man's point across, but you have to admit that even some of the "evidence" that he provides is irrefutable, such as how we never found any weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and how only one person in congress had a kid in Iraq. DeathBug, I can see that you feel very strongly about this issue, but I have a few things to nitpick. :o *looks down* Well.. maybe more than a few.
Bowling for Columbine was entertaining but it wasn't really truthful and Moore isn't afraid to add his own spin in at all. Don't believe everything he says.
I did have a small feeling that he might have been spinning it a bit, since the movies he shows are a majority one-sided. But then, if it isn't true, where is he getting his evidence? I suppose if you're anti-Moore, then you could just borrow a statement from one of his movies and say that while his evidence may be true, he chooses what he shows and tells you. Ah well, we can never know for sure. All I know is that the evidence he provides is so powerful that I'm left thinking, "do I even care if there is another side?" Which is probably what he intended to do anyway, hm.

Damn, I really wish that I can answer this question a little more truthfully, but I don't listen to that many bands, and if I was exposed to some other good bands I would probably change my mind on the 4 and 5 spot, especially the 5. With that in mine, here are my 5 favorite bands. 5. Linkin Park 4. Alien Ant Farm 3. 311 2. Sublime 1. Incubus The reason that I say that I want to replace Linkin Park on number 5 is because I was listening to them way back when I first started getting into music, and based on the music I've been listening to lately, I'm not too impressed by Linkin Park anymore. The talent in music is.. mediocre, and often repetitive, and the singing could be better. Of course, they're not in the number 5 spot for nothing; they're better than a lot of the crap I hear on the radio lately. Ah well. I really like Alien Ant Farm in terms on punk rock. They are my favorite punk rock band, most likely because of the singing honestly. Their playing could use some work, but they're right on with singing for the category that they're in. I don't listen to them much anymore, usually in favor of the first three, but they're fun to hear for some change of pace. 311 was the first band I was introduced to by my friend Nate when it comes to "good music". It's his favorite band, and was mine for a while because of the kind of soothing music that they play which sort of relaxes you. They have amazing musical talent that makes you feel like you're just listening to music for the first time when you hear them. What I love about Sublime is they way they could just play anything and it sounds so.. sublime, haha. The "bubbly" sort of singing and playing that they did is simply so relaxing, and it never gets old. I remember my friend telling me about when Brad did this one concert when he was really drunk, and you could tell because he was wobblying around and mumbling when singing, but when he played that guitar.. holy crap. The thing that really gets me is that once you've heard all of their songs, that's it. There won't be any more. My all-time favorite band has to be Incubus. Each and every song of their's has it's own distinct feel to it, and I know I've been talking a lot about talent, but with Incubus, it's at the pinacle. Guitar, bass, drums, vocal, it's all there. One of the most important things that I look for in a band is the message in the songs, and whether I can relate to them, and Incubus does a great job of doing this. I only just got into them about 3 months ago, but I'm hooked and it's just about all I listen to, lol.
Hey, what you tried on the pc was great. I wish I could do that But sadly i can't. My faverit is the sword. I always loved swords. There so old but new at the same time. Do you get what I'm saying? Well if you just want to talk you can pm me ok? See you.:)
Maybe you could explain why you like the sword a little bit more. Constructive criticism is always appreciated in the Art forum. ;) EDIT: I've found this to be a recurring problem. I've deleted your other posts and would like to direct you to this thread. Please read that carefully and look around to get an example of what others post like.

Wow, I'm surprised no one has started a thread about this movie yet. o.o Of course, with my luck, there probably is one already and I missed it. =_= Assuming that there isn't a thread already, I saw the movie this past Friday and really loved it. I had only recently seen Bowling for Columbine, a previous work from director Michael Moore, and really got into it. What I had loved about Bowling for Columbine movie is the way he had actually gone onto the street to interview all of these people which pointed out the hypocrisies in gun control. He asked and attempted to answer many great questions, such as why the United States has so many more gun deaths than any other country. Immediately I assumed that this was because other countries held much stricter gun control, but soon found that in Canada you could get a gun just as easily, due in part to the large hunting sport. In Canada, however, there were only about 50 gun deaths, in comparison to the over 11,000 deaths in the US. Slowly he showed that news in the US focuses largely on crime more than anything else, and while crime itself has gone down over the years, fear of crime has gone up, perhaps scaring people into buying more guns and locking their doors at night. Alright, I'm beginning to go a little off topic, heh. I just wanted to set the stage for Fahrenheit 9/11 which was done much the same way, being a documentary, as Bowling for Columbine. There was definitely a difference, though. In Columbine, much of the movie takes to the street, and while he does so a lot in 9/11, most of the movie is contrived of news reports, statements, and interviews. Before I continue, however, I will say that the entire movie was pro-liberal and completely against Bush, for those of you who haven't seen the movie or read about it at all. Not being either a Republican or a Democrat, and not being old enough to vote, I welcomed the movie with an opened mind, unlike my dad who is a Republican and considered a lot of the movie "hogwash", lol. Like I mentioned before, I really liked this movie, even though it was a political movie and I usually don't understand or care to understand many political issues. Moore does a great job of putting the movie into Layman's terms, and asks the questions we are wondering ourselves. In a way, I feel that he might have left a little bit of the other side out to get his point across, but with all of the evidence to support his opinion, I can't help but agree with him despite what the other side can say. So yes, the movie is a majority one-sided, against Bush, and if enough people see this movie, it could put a large dent into Bush's votes with the upcoming election. And now for the spoilers.
I know that I'll never be able to explain the movie as well as if you just see it, but I'm hoping that those of you who are reading this have already seen it and have the basic jist of it already. And if you haven't seen it, go see it now! Alright, so the movie explains the huge tie between the Bush's (both daddy and son) and Saudi Arabia. Apparently, they own about 7% of America by making deals with Bush and having about a trillion dollars in our banks, which, if they pull the money out, would be a huge blow to our economy. They pay Bush much, much more than Bush gets paid as a president, so if you were in his situation, who would you care more about? Not only that, but this is the same country to sponsors the Taliban, which is, of course, headed by Osama Bin Laden (sp.?), the man who led the attack on 9/11. Before 9/11 occurred, the Bin Ladens invested in one of the few companies that benefited from the attack: American Defense, which means that they hadn't cut off all ties with Bin Laden up to that point. After 9/11, Bush's response was weak and slow, not acting on catching Osama Bin Laden until 2 months later, and even then, not doing much to find him. Instead, Bush focused his attack on Iraq, which he claimed was the source of nuclear weapons in hiding, which we know now were never found. He was attacking a country that had never threatened or attacked the US in any way and had no connections to 9/11, the Taliban, and Osama. And then in these attacks we lost hundreds of our own people for what seems like no reason at all. In particular, there was a very touching story of a mother who had lost a son in Iraq and searching for the answer by going to Washington DC. Moore pointed out that it wasn't the children of congress, or even rich people who were enlisting to fight in this war; they were mainly from poor towns where the unemployment rate was over 50% who went in for a future. The ones who are suffering the most are the ones who have to suffer even more. He showed that because Bush was president, all of these horrible things have happened that might have been avoided if Gore was elected. In fact, he presented a lot of evidence to the idea that Bush being elected was a conspiracy. That all of the news stations had believed Gore the winner except for Fox, who had said that Bush had 49% of the votes, and Gore had 48%. But wait, instead of the regular person who normally got the news, Bush's cousin was there and had announced this for the anchormen. I also recall later hearing that Gore really had won Florida if the votes had been recounted.
The movie ended with a broadcast by president Bush.
I believe there was an old saying in Tenessee. Well, actually it's from Texas, but I guess they say it in Tenessee as well. Fool me once... ... ..shame on you. Fool me twice.. ... ..well, you better not fool me twice!
Sounds like a good Democrat slogan. :p
I would make this banner for you, but the dimensions are too large for the OB. The maximum dimensions for banners here is 500 pixels x 100 pixels. Sorry.
That is true, and should be taken to heart if he plans to use the banner on these forums, but you may also request for banners to use on other forums, and Zohar may be doing that. I don't know either way, lol, but I just wanted to make it clear that the requests made in this forum may go far beyond just banners for these boards.

Hm, I recently answered your first thread much like Panda helped you here. -_- Please only make one thread for your topics.

Well, you could take a picture of it with a digital scanner, if you have one. You also might want to look into finding someone else with a digital camera or scanner, or see if your local library has a scanner. Other than that, there's not really any other way to submit it, since at this time we're not really accepting any submissions by mail, heh.
Hey, I finally found someone here that plays Raganrok. I just wanna know... What's your level? Job level? I'm a base level - 66, Job level 49 Mage, yes, MAGE. The Wizard test is just too hard for me! You can say I'm an RO ADDICT!!! ANYWAYZ... I like your banner. Keiko's a bit... right. I suggest It should be color Red... maybe. (Truthfully, I've never EVER seen a monk before. Nobody in the Philippines ever becomes one). Yes, I'm a Filipino. It's too bad that we can't meet cause I only play Philippine RO. So... Good job with the banner!
Try to keep the comments mainly dealing with critique. The suggestion for using red was good, but the rest of your posts strayed off topic a bit.
