[quote name='Ninja-Magus']This contest failed misserably last time it started (back in late summer I think). I dunno if I wanna enter this O_O[/quote] [color=#30415d]If it does fail miserably, moderators will be here to help push it in the right direction, or end it altogether if it gets to that point. Until then, though, let's try to have an optimistic view and get on with the contest. This is directed to all comments about the questionability of this contest. ^_^[/color]

[color=30415d]I'm not the only one that's not seeing introductions on myOtaku anymore, am I? Something is definitely wrong with that.[/color]

[color=30415d]Ooohhh yeeeaahh, I kind of remember Mighty Max now. I was really into it when I was a lot younger; moreso the figures than the actual show, though. I think that I did watch a little bit of the show, but like Sara, I couldn't tell you about it, lol. =_= I remember that I would spend hours playing with those action figures, heh. I had a lot, but I don't know about every toy in the world like some people in this thread. o.o The Max figure was always really small, right? Yeah, I remember them. I have absolutely no idea where the toys are right now, though. I probably sold them off at a yard sale years ago. ;p[/color]

[color=30415d]Fairly Odd Parents is one of my favorite shows on Nickelodeon, and one of the only reasons I would watch that channel anymore, heh. That and Sponge Bob. I'm a sucker for nonsensical humor. ;p It's a very funny show for all ages, I'd like to believe. Random comedy, great character models (for lack of a better word =_=), and not one of those cartoons that tries to be serious and fails miserably. It isn't afraid to look stupid, and that's what I love about it. ^_^ You can just start watching it and laugh without having to think about the jokes. Nick needs more shows like this. :p [quote]Where's Timmy? It's 7:16. He's in the bathroom. Really? He always struck me as a 7:33 wizinator.[/quote][/color]

For some reason part of the scanlines seem noticably more dark than the rest of them.[/b][/quote] [color=30415d]Hmm.. if it's what I'm thinking, that could be due to a gurnge effect that I added, or else it's because I sort of cut out the scanlines from his face on the side pictures using the feather tool (which fades things outward). Other than that, though, I left the scanlines alone.[/color]

[color=30415d]Heh, silly smiley. *strokes it (it being the smiley, Shin! >:o)* What? o_o Yeah, so my friend requested this banner months ago, and I've finally got to working on it. I've been taking his advice on it as I've gone along all day, but then he signed off, so now I'm just of stuck on what I should do next. So here's what I have so far. The story: My friend recently went to see one of Bruce Campbell's* underground movies at some theater in DC, and met him there in person, so now he wants a banner to comemorate him. The request: These three pictures; the mummy in the middle, the Evil Dead one on the left, and Elvis on the right. It should look "dark and evil". I went on from there, and then showed him for more advice. What do you guys think so far? Comments and critique.[/color] *EDIT: Spelled right, now. :o [img]http://www.otakuboards.com/attachment.php?s=&postid=551021[/img]

[color=teal]These rules are once again being posted for those of you who have either not read them or refuse to abide by them. By registering at these boards, you are not only agreeing to the VB rules, but to the OtakuBoards Forum Rules as well, so I don't believe that it's too much to ask that you follow them in addition to reading them. If you need a link to the rules, click [url="http://www.otakuboards.com/rules.php?"]here[/url]. If you feel the need to upload more than the maximum of five images, though that?s quite a lot as it is, please do so without double/triple posting in order to get all of the images attached. For those of you who are not patient enough to wait until another member posts first, it is recommended that you either merge them all into a single image, or find a website other than OtakuBoards where you can upload them to, and then simply link to them in your post, or hotlink using the [IMG] tag. Threads that contain multiple posts for the sole purpose of attaching multiple images will be deleted immediately. Now, this doesn?t happen very often, but when you create multiple threads (of a related series, or simply a lot at one time), you aren?t bypassing this rule. In fact, what you are doing is just as bad, if not more so, and the threads will be merged together. Again, the rule against double posting applies to all forums, including this one. -Syk3[/color]

[color=30415d]This was just a crazy idea I had in the way of adding to my banner. I wanted to perfect it, but seeing as Kenji's conectoor doesn't work.. o-O[/color] [img]http://www.otakuboards.com/attachment.php?s=&postid=550635[/img]

[QUOTE][i]Originally posted by Kaisuke [/i] [B]Looks nice. Could have done without the grainyness, though I dont think it makes a terrible difference. Im a little jealous though, your text looks miles better than mine, the monotonous colour, meh, I dont think im going for that, but on the whole, its a nice clean banner. ^_^ [/B][/QUOTE] [color=30415d]I just added the graininess to give it a little.. feel, I dunno, and to make the pictures flow better together. As for the orange hue, here it is in normal colors. The smoke is a lot easier to see, but still a little light. Ah well, it looks more realistic that way. ;p[/color] [img]http://www.otakuboards.com/attachment.php?s=&postid=550520[/img]

[color=30415d]I hadn't made a banner in a while, and just decided that I needed some practice. It's really nothing special; I made it for fun, and don't really expect to use it anyway. What did I do with it? I cut out out Wolfwood (the guy on the left), slapped in on a picture with Vash (on teh right), made the pictures a little grainy, angled some text to fit in with the pictures (thanks for the idea, Kaisuke), colorized it, and did another few tidbits, including making smoke come out of the gun, though you can't really tell too much. :/ Comments and critique are appreciated.[/color] [img]http://www.otakuboards.com/attachment.php?s=&postid=550513[/img]

[color=30415d]I suppose that I inherited my "talent" from my dad's side of the family, though it skipped a generation with him. My grandfather always had a great eye for art, and although his hands are sort of shakey, he's produced some great paintings and carvings. He'd literally take a block of wood that he finds on the beach and turn it into an amazing art piece. Some are around my grandparent's house, but most of it is up at our beach house. He's really a very talented artist, and his stuff looks almost professional. ^_^ I ended up starting to draw at a very early age. My mother remembers a great rocket ship that I drew in kindergarden, but I have no recollection of it. Then my teacher asked me to draw something for outside her classroom window when I was in elementary school.. then I went on to Beanie Baby design sketches, Star Wars ships, and some weird robot dude. o-O But it wasn't until early middle school when I was exposed to Dragonball Z and other anime (though mostly DBZ at the time), and that inspired me to draw many, many characters (a few of which I have on [url=http://www.myotaku.com/syk3]my myOtaku[/url][/shamless plug] *cough*), but now it's come to the point where I simply draw for school. My teacher has us hand in a sketch book every week for pictures of things around our house, and he's told me before that I have a lot of talent [and not to waste it on cartoons =_____=]. I hope you enjoyed my life story. :)[/color]

It's not bad, good job. ^_^ However, this is the Request forum. You're looking for Art & Design, where you show off your own pieces. Topic moved.

[color=30415D]I deffinitly agree that being good at art (be that drawing, painting, scultping, computer, etc.) takes both talent and practice, but I think I would concentrate more so on practice than anything else. If you are born with an artistic talent, you may be able to produce decent pieces, but if you don't continue to practice by challenging yourself with more difficult forms of art, you won't be able to improve upon this talent. And if you can't improve, you are going to be stuck at a particular skill level that will soon become outdated, and you won't recieve any recognition because everyone has seen something similar in the past. Besides, even if you do have a natural talent, that's not going to make any of your pieces an instant Piccaso; practice makes perfect, as they say. It's just like with any other activity; take soccer[/football] for example. You may be very athletic and a decent soccer player at first, but if you don't train and continue to practice, you won't be able to just come onto the field and expect to make perfect passes, and run around without getting tired easily.[/color]

I'm sure many of you are confused by the changes in this thread, which is because I've decided to merge the threads, since there was such a large amount of similar material. I changed the titles of the posts so you know which drawing they are referring to, but things still may seem a little unorganized. Oh well, I tried. v_v Dragon Warrior.. don't do anything like this again. O_0 *head falls onto keyboard*

[color=30415d]I see drugs use in three different ways, none of which I would ever advocate or participate in, but nonetheless ironically have quite a few friends who are pot heads and whatnot. These mainly apply to marijuana, but I suppose they can be used to explain other drugs as well. The first general category that I'd place it in is "an escape". A lot of people will use drugs to escape life's problems and live in their care-free world for that hour or so. They can't deal with the hardships that life throws at them, and they turn to drugs to make them happy. I personally find this stupid and see those who do this as weak for not standing up and facing whatever it is. They think drugs are the answer to their problems, and in reality it's only going to start more problems. Other people will use drugs "to be cool". The only reason they are doing it is because everyone else is, and they're trying it in order to fit in and be accepted. The aforementioned statement is how I define preps. This attitude can also be associated with weakness. These people doing drugs just because everyone else is is far too ignorant to ever understand exactly why they are doing it in the first place, and find their own truths. I can't understand why you would do something like that to fit in when you havn't given deep thought to your morale. O_o The last point.. is kind of open-ended. I would place my friends in this category, because they don't fit into the two above. They do drugs because they want to, they want to live on the edge, and repeatedly use the bible's quote "use the Earth to it's full advantage", or something along those lines.

Art YOU decide on PoisonTongue's NEW avatar/banner combination!

[QUOTE][i]Originally posted by Naru [/i] [B]oh my god......lol! that is great!! defiently avi #2 and banner #1. i like the combo thingy that rpg crazy and mimmi thought up, but it would HAVE to include banner #1. that is the best. lol. ~naru-chan [/B][/QUOTE] Why do you pick those numbers? What do you like about them in particular, and why over the others? Is there anything that can be improved to make the best one even better, or one that isn't the best to become better so that he uses that one? Detail, please. -
[QUOTE][i]Originally posted by jro13 [/i] [B]that is a great banner,10/10 I found nothing wrong with except that it needs a border [/B][/QUOTE] Please expand when you comment on a banner. If you can't find anything wrong with it, say what parts she did well on. Just saying it's good and needs a border won't be accepted. [QUOTE][i]Originally posted by jro13 [/i] [B]Okay now it is better, you could make it better. But it is alright as it is I guess [/B][/QUOTE] I implore, [i]please[/i] read the [url=http://www.otakuboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=32738]constructive criticism[/url] thread at the top of this forum. It is very important that with each critique you go as far into detail about the banner as is possible. Say what you like, don't like, [i]why[/i] you like or dislike it, what needs to be improved, etc. Comments like these just won't fly on OtakuBoards. ~_^

Well, that's Sen for you. He's really a very deep individual, as you can see from his poems. Wise beyond his years.. Like I told you over AIM, these poems are really beautiful.. I'm serious! STOP LAUGHING! >:o That's it.. you little-- As I was saying, you really went deeply into these poems with such great metaphors as a stream and fog. It makes complete sense, and is filled with so much emotion and love that they literally brought tears to my eyes. I'm completely serious when I say.. show these to her. You won't regret it.

I feel really bad, Annie.. I merged the threads with your pencil and cg drawing; I hope that's alright. Feel free to continue posting your artwork here. ^_^

Writing -Syk3's Guide to Modding Your Butt Off-
Syk3 replied to Dragon Warrior's topic in Creative Works
Halarious as usual, Dragon Warrior. I almost couldn't get to the end, I was laughing so hard. Tears were streaming down my face. Literally. O.o The speech impediment made all for the funnier, heh. Try reading it through out loud. XD I especially liked when the person clapped twice and then stopped, and when I ask about the speech thing. Very good laugh. ;p
