EDIT: Please refer to my newer version in my later post. -------------------------- Let's hope I'm going about all this correctly, heh. ^_^; This is my first fan fiction/story type deal, which I wrote today out of boredom after I read Japan_86's fan fic. How would you classify a fan fic, anyway? Because I'm not really sure if this would fall under the category of more of a story that I made up. So yes, this is my first fan fic where I've finally put down my ideas on this anime story I've had for a while. I know, I'm crazy, but I have to have something to put my imagination to work. o__o; Anywho, yes, this is only the first part of it, and I'm hoping to possibly introduce a few people as characters in later parts. *winks at Shy* Enjoy, and critique would be extremely usefull and appreciated! (NOTE: Er...the main character is using my name, but it originally wasn't supposed to be until I decided to make a story with Shy and I as main characters, so just pretend I'm a tad bit older. ^_^ You'll see what I mean) -------------------------- On his way back from a bar (ditto) after a long night, Greg decides to take a shortcut through a backstreet ally in Southern Boston to get to a main road where he will hopefully be able to catch a cab home. ?Sheesh...no place like home?, he said to himself facetiously, eying trash that had spilled out all over the ground, and preceding to kick an empty soda can. It was late morning in November, and the city was covered in a thick fog. Greg looked up from kicking the can and could slightly make out through his drowsiness the form of a young woman about twenty yards ahead of him with tied back brown hair, carrying a bag which he only assumed carried a small laptop. Something inside of Greg made him want to chase after this woman, but he knew that these thoughts were absurd and continued walking casually. I wonder how long this alley shortcut is, anyway, thought Greg. He had already been walking for quite some time, about three or four minutes, and he couldn?t see to the end due to the ominous fog. Seemingly out of no where, the urge to reach the woman became irresistible, and Greg?s legs gave in to the strong desire to catch up to her, who was still walking about twenty yards in front of him, and before he could do anything, he was chasing after her. ?H-Hey!? yelled Greg, more to his legs than anything. The woman with the brown hair stopped for a second and glanced over her shoulder, revealing warm green eyes that pierced through him like arrows to his heart, but she simply turned back around and continued her relaxed pace. Greg?s legs were not satisfied, however. They longed to catch up to the woman, to stop her, to see her eyes once more. His jog turned into a run, and that to a sprint, but no matter how hard he tried, the woman would keep a twenty yard lead on him, her bag swinging at her side. And with each step, she would disappear more and more until the fog completely consumed her body, and Greg slowed to a walk. What was that?! Figures began to emerge from the alley fog ahead of him where the woman had vanished. One, no ? two, three, four, five, six tough men with a strong distaste on their unclear faces appeared almost out of no where. Pfft?Greg wasn?t going to let a couple scrawny guys like these get in his way and stop him from catching up to this woman. ?The hella you?? asked Greg, still slightly, yet clearly, feeling the effects of the bar from earlier. These guys weren?t some punks off the street; they had weapons, and they were waiting for him. One of the men in front took a stance as if he was about to run, and then bolted at him. The man was fast, but Greg was more than ready for him. His eyes narrowed and he let his entire body loosen up, like water; he wasn?t too bad in terms of Jeet Kune Do. The man took out a switch blade with his right hand, and when he was almost to Greg, he jabbed his arm forward his just as Greg turned his body left to avoid the attack, bringing his right arm across his chest and making a fist with both hands. Greg stiffened and brought up both fists into the man?s gut. There was a millisecond pause, and then ? BAM! The ?tough? guy?s back arched slightly back, and his eyes went white as he threw up blood and mucus alike, falling to a heap on the ground. Greg straightened up and smirked at the rest of the men. He counted in his head; only four more to go, I can get the rest of them in one go, no problem. ?Tuh, if the rest of you can fall that easily why should I even bother?? he gloated. The men?s blank faces turned to anger and rage, and one of them came at Greg with a metal pole while the others surrounded him on other sides. The man with the pole had a lot of muscles, and swung the pole as hard as he could horizontally from his right side. Boy, this alley-way is rather wide, too, thought Greg, standing perfectly still and not moving an inch. When the pole came at him, he put up his left arm and cushioned the end of the pole against his left armpit with the upper half of his arm, then grabbed it with his right hand over top. Greg shifted his feet and prepared his entire body for the task in front of him. Using all his strength, he picked the guy on the other side of the pole off his feet slightly, and swung the man?s end quickly to the right, directly into another of the men and slamming them both against the wall of an apartment. Sensing someone coming up from behind him, Greg grabbed the pole slightly higher up with both hands and shoved it upward from the ground in a mid-turn, hitting a man in his rib sockets and into another wall, pinning the other side against the ground amidst a few sparks and trapping the guy painfully. Stepping onto the horizontal pole, Greg hopped ever so slightly to bring up his legs and turn his body around as another brute side kicked in an attempt to trip him off, and came down to drop kick the man in the face before finally landing on the pole again. The pole fell right to the ground on impact, and blood splattered onto the side of Greg?s stern face. Greg stood up straight once more and looked over the fallen bodies. Slowly, his eyes went from narrow, more and more open until he almost appeared to be smiling. He looked towards where the woman had walked off, and headed in that direction, breaking into a run. He ran faster and faster and pretty soon he could almost see her through the lighter fog of the mid-day sun. A smile appeared on Greg?s face, as he had almost lost hope in catching up with her before the alley ended, when -- BAM! Where the hell did that arm come from!?! A man had come out of the shadows and clotheslined Greg right in his face, and due to the speed at which he was going, it caused him to lose his footing completely and flip over himself backwards, landing hard on his stomach and bleeding profusely out of his nose. He was aching all over, but at the same time, he wasn?t, and he forced himself, sprawled-eagled, over onto his back. When he opened his eyes he saw many of the men who he could have sworn he had just taken care of back there, and sure enough, there was the man he had first hit, a trickle of blood running down his mouth, as well as the guy he dropped kicked, and the one had gone at him with the pole. That?s right, there were six guys, one of whom he never fought!!! ?There's no way any of you could stand after that," stammered Greg, unconvinced. He struggled to get up, but three of the men grabbed him and put him on his knees, chuckling. They wanted feel their revenge; taste their revenge, very slowly. The remaining man who had knocked him down and who Greg had never gotten a hit out of stood, after kneeling to pick something up, and took a pistol out of his belt. He looked like any ordinary man in strength, and in face ? well, his face was there, but it wasn?t there, it was like he couldn?t make it out clearly. What was going on? The man went around behind him, loading his pistol, and there, kneeling in the damp alley-way, Greg felt fear. A drop of sweat fell down his face as the man cocked his gun against his head? -------------------------- EDIT: Dialogue improved...hopefully.

Not bad. ^_^ It's a pretty good fanfic, and I like how you added me as a cameo in there. *plots to write a fanfic where he is one of the main characters* The story was pretty good, but I think I would have liked it if you had drawn it out a bit more. The dialogue needs a little improving, and you missed a few quotations here and there, but it's an overall good story. ^_^

You just keep getting better and better at making banners, Mei-koi. ^_^ This has to be one of my favorites from you thus far, and I know that with time and practice you can get even better. The quality on the second banner is much better, and I'll have to give you props if you combined both of those pictures because they just fit so perfectly. I think you also did a good job capturing only part of that monster guy in the background, as it leaves the horror up to the imagination to complete. The border is cool too; I like the whole blotchiness of it, as it fits the pictures well for some reason. Maybe you could improve the text only *slightly*. You have the font down, and the placing as well, but the black sort of fades into the background, and you wouldn't be able to see it at a glance. Perhaps if it was the dark red from her hair, or maybe a fading black into dark red, it would be perfect. Overall, it's another fabulous work from you, hun. I noticed the avatar a while ago and was wondering if you had a banner in the works. ~_^ Also, if this is an anime, what anime is it based off of?
Originally posted by Dan Rugh I don't get why people make such a HUGE deal out of this. If you don't like the English voices, then don't watch it. Go spend all your money on DVDs if you're unhappy with the dubbing. If it weren't for dubbing in the first place, honestly, how many of us would be watching anime.
I agree for the most part. I don't really mind subbed, I suppose, but I would prefer dubbed.
Originally posted by Youko Minamino You people do know what a dub isn't just the voices. You cannot just base a dub off of the voices, which is what I've seen most of you doing. You have to gauge a dub, on its accuracy to the original in terms of story, voices, how accurate its lines are, and how accurate its character personalities are.
I don't think we have to worry about that anymore. Lately, all you really have been seeing are nothing less than perfect translations, obviously just with different voice actors. The only thing to nit-pick about a dubbed anime these days is the voices, which I suppose can also tie into the personality a little bit. Now that I covered those really old posts, heh, I really don't have an opinion on which animes are dubbed good or bad, persay. By going by the voices, you will sometimes have good voices, and sometimes have bad ones in an anime, and that's just the way it goes. For example, in Rurouni Kenshin, I cannot stand the voices of the Southern waitress or the youngest of the two little girls, even though I havn't watched the sub for them, but the other voices are rather good. Unless you go back to the days of Dragonball and Digimon or something, that's the way most animes can be judged in the way of dubbing. And, of course, your opinion can be altered if you are simply used to listening to the original Japanese voices.
Originally posted by Anime_Forever DUDE THAT IS AWESOME!!! I swear those are the best banner and avatar set ive ever seen.
Why? Try to expand when you say something is the best banner/avatar/drawing/image you've ever seen by saying what you like about it, what they did really well on, and things that they could improve on in case you find something. Read the stickies at the top of the forum.
Originally posted by Anime_Forever Its a very good picture after looking at it but the first thing I thought when I saw it was SERIOUSLY: AAAA!!!!!!!!AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!OHMYGOD!! OHMYGOD!!! HES SMILING!!!!!!!
Please put more thought into your posts and avoid random comments such as this. And if you do, try to back it up with some comments or critique on the overall image.
Originally posted by klinanime1 That is so frikken awesome! I love how every detail is paid attention to.
Try to expand on this a little bit. You say every detail is drawn, so point out some example. I'm sorry if it seems like I'm picking on you, but when I go through different threads, I look very closely at the slightly shorter posts. ~_^
Originally posted by klinanime1 I love this banner! (Well, I love Inuyasha) The general effect is terrific.
Try to put a little more thought into your post, such as your more recent one. There is probably more than one effect in the banner, so it helps to expand on that comment. Thanks.

_> *moves to Art & Design* The request forum is specifically for asking for banners of avatars if you don't have them already. ~_^
Originally posted by Ratix Hmm, pretty! :D Can I have it? ;)
Please try to put something more into your post that will contribute to the discussion of the art. If you would like it, either make it as a side comment, or PM him about it, rather than basing the post around it. "Pretty" simply won't cut it when commenting on a banner. ~_^
Originally posted by Double_B_Daigo How about a Wolfwood and Miroku one? With my name on it. And have it say "And these two are preists?" That would be excellent.
If you want to request a banner, the Request forum works fine, heh. Or else, simply PM him and he'd probably put the banner up in his thread to show everyone, and get the URL then. ~_^
Originally posted by Luminaire I'm a freshman this year and I was going to find as many anime fans in my school as I could and see what they thought about the idea of a club. A few people I know have huge collections of varied animes that would be good, and I have a few of my own. Finding a teacher and asking the school principal and getting the board's apporval is required though. I have a few teachers in mind, but it might be hard to find a classroom because the whole school is basically demolished with construction. I had been thinking this over last year too. I have most of the actual workings of the club figured out, but the approval is needed and I have absolutely no leadership skills. Funny thing I thought about was 'what if we can't get a T.V. and VCR/DVD player?' In my basement, we have one of each. XD If anyone has any suggestions on how I should go about getting permission, please post. I have no confidence, so I am kinda afraid to ask. ~Lumi ^_^
Here are a few tips. For the TV and DVD player, I'm sure there is a TV in your school somewhere on a cart or something, perhaps in the media center, and for DVD player, we just bring in our PS2s, lol. You'll figure out how to connect them up somehow. As for finding a teacher, just go up to one that you think might be able to bear sponsering an anime club, and ask if they would be able to sponser a club that meets once a week. That's what we do, at least, and it would work if the teacher were able to do so.

Art Kenshin vs. Shishio animation banner (semi-large file)
Syk3 replied to Syk3's topic in Creative Works
Sorry about all that pixely stuff everyone, it's unavoidable with Animation Shop 3. If anyone knows any other good animation programs that don't degrade it like that, I'd really appreciate it. ~_~' I agree that being parallel isn't something that you should always do, but I decided to do it on this particular banner because it sort of fits the theme of one man vs. another. It's supposed to create the illusion that they are nearly equal in strength, so it would be hard to tell exactly who would win. As for the font, I downloaded it particularly for the banner, haha. I realized that I really don't have much of a selection, so I went out looking for some Samurai font, where it would appear to be written in bamboo sticks or something, lol. The important thing is that I had a good idea of what I was looking for. I found this after a while, and it was better than the ones I already have, so I used it. I do agree at it could stand out a bit more, bleh. Thanks for the comments and critique so far. ^_^ -
Originally posted by TheGodlyME I want an anime club at my school so badly; unfortunately for me, I live on the wrong coast(It's a 50/50 chance...guess which one). Only about 9 or 10 people are even remotely into anime around my school, and we need a teacher to start any new clubs(sadly there are none familiar with anime, except ones like gigantor, astro boy, and transformers...they don't really count). I am plaid with envy...
Well, I don't know about your school, but at my school you just need a teacher that will let you use their room and basically just supervise. They can do whatever they like while we watch it; they don't even have to like anime to begin with. Right now I'm asking any teacher I can. As for there not being a lot of people who like it, I know from experience that there are most likely quite a few people who like it but don't tell anyone about it. Perhaps if a club was to start, you'd be able to meet lots of people who like anime in addition to the people you know of.
Originally posted by Queen Asuka And the gay guy. That was so funny. I thought it was a girl when I was watching the opener.
Yeah, I thought he was a girl at first too, heh. I found it halarious in that one scene when that girl comes in and decides to change in the Magic Users Club room before going on a date. So she put up this sheet thing so they couldn't see, and the president of the club suddenly goes into his imagination and see the other girls be like "Since you're going to change, we will too!" "Me too!" And they rip off their clothes, and then the gay guiy's like "ME TOO!" and rips off his clothes. lol Don't worry, it's not a hentai or anything, it's just the silly thoughts from that one guy (and they don't show anything anyway).
Originally posted by MaceDavis not really understanding what you mean... but anyway I will check the OB, to firstly find out what it means, lol, and secondly to understand what you mean, anyway i'm sure you know what your talking about assuming your the freaking site director or whatnot you probably know more about computers then me...but I apoligize for not looking hard enough, anyway yes I drew all of them..yes I am using mspaint, yes it sucks, yes I would upgrade if I could, NO I don't have the money, lololol, anyway to further defend myself from these false accusations, I may not know alot about computers but surely i know how to host my own pictures, I do not know whyn you would assume otherwise, i am using this thread to post my pictures that I will use on my site, i wanted opinions on them, i know there crappy but I wanted to put like all of the different pic..put what I will do in this catagory or otherwise, i am sorry if it was misplaced, most definitely unprofessional, but you know I was just looking for opiniomns, anyway if it suits you best close it, but I am not just "using the board" I used to come here all the time, I just now started to come back, do you really think i wanted to come back, and then get banned!?
It's also important to note that you should try to improve posting quality. To be able to read it easier, you should try using punctuation as well as capitolization, and in this case make seperate paragraphs. Thanks,

Hey all, I'm back with another banner rather quickly, though I still havn't decided if I'm going to use it or not. More likely than not, the file is too big for OtakuBoards, so I basically just made this banner for fun. I think I did a decent job on it, though I can't help all of than graniness which happens automatically with animations for some reason, even on the highest level. I had a sudden urge to make the banner when I was watching the final battle between Kenshin and Shishio, heh. So what does everyone think? Should I cut stuff out of it so I can use it here, or should I keep my new one, or what? c/c http://dg369.250free.com/Kenshin2.gif Heh, in fact, it's too big a file for the upload, period. o_O Scary...

I recently saw this in my anime club, and I thought I'd start a discussion to see who else has seen this. ^_^ Magic Users Club is about these high school students who are in an after school club called the Magic Users Club. Go figure. Basically, they use magic with these silly wands, and try to stop this scientific alien race of robots that have decended upon the Earth. Though this race appears to be adjusting to the planet and following all of the traffic laws and such, occasionally it becomes necessary for these kids to use their magic to stop them. The Magic Users Club also loosely competes with the Manga Club, who act as the antagonists with their stuck up president, lol. The anime is very comical in the drawing and story-line, and I would recommend it for anyone looking for a laugh. It does have a little fan service, and there is a lot of silly parts dealing with this such as nosebleeding, and the main character going a little too far in his thoughts. o__o" I thought it was a pretty good anime, and am interested in seeing more of it. So yeah, who has seen it and what do you think?

My high school has an anime club, which I originally joined in my Freshman year when it was an actual club without knowing anyone and by going off of what I heard on the overhead announcements. We had anime club every Friday, and it was the standard to watch it uncut and everything. I'm sure everyone would have left if it was edited like Cartoon Network, lol. o_o;; Anyway, there were a lot of hardcore anime fans in the club. We had tons of anime, some of which I borrowed a few times, and we had a great time. Anime for 2 hours, pizza for a dollar, what more could you want? The following year, it kind of degressed. It was never an actual club, and we had random meetings on random days, since the old president had gone. We still watched some great anime, both subbed and dubbed, all uncut, most of which I had never even heard of. This year, the "Vice President" last year is now the president, and I'm the Vice President. We were supposed to have an official club this year with a steady sponser, but over the summer he got another job, so now we're on the hunt for another teacher again. ~_~' Good luck to us, I say. In any case, we were able to have our very first meeting this year last Friday, and we saw Magic Users Club, of which I'm going to make a thread about in a second. I'm going to be getting Hellsing and Berserk for my birthday, so we'll most likely be watching those in upcoming weeks, and I'm sure I won't care if I have to see them again (in addition to at home when I first get them, of course). Next year I have a guarunteed spot to be the President of the anime club, so that's cool. Let's hope I have a lot of different kinds of anime by then, and actually make it a real club, heh. So yeah, that's all we do, watch anime and each pizza. We occasionally chat at the beginning, but half the people are in my lunch period anyway so we get it out of our systems then. Everyone there is really into anime, and I'm really happy for that, lol. As for the kinds of animes we watch, we see all sorts of them. Funny, serious, fan service (o_O;;), dubbed, subbed, etc. So yeah, that's my anime club story. Keep a look out for my Magic Users Club thread.

It has been moved. Just remember that this thread is for requesting banners, not showing them off. ^_^
-
Topic moved. As said, Otaku Lounge is a much more appropriate place for this, as this forum deal with requesting Banners and Avatars. God knows they've had enough relationship threads, heh, but I'm sure they can help you out there. ^_^

It sort of depends on the school and the district, but even then, it's not going to completely stop the voilence, weopons, and drugs. It will indeed limit them, but from experience, not having a backpack will certainly put you at more of a risk for backproblems if that means you'll have to carry all of your books and be hunched over like that. Back when I was in middle school, even before the incident with Columbine, they wouldn't allow us to have backpacks between classes, and made us carry our heavy text books and notebooks in our arms. They would only allow us to go to our lockers between certain periods, and it was completely awful, but I didn't know any other way. When I look back, though, it was a pretty bad school, where people would get suspended for bringing knives, and fights in the hallway were commonplace, plus they had a good 3 security guards and metal detectors. This school, as yours does, has three floors. When I moved to my new middle school, I remember coming in on the first day and carrying my notebooks, and the person taking me around to my different classes was like "what are you doing? Where is your backpack?" It was a completely new thing to me, where we would actually be able to carry our stuff in our backpack and be able to go to our lockers when ever we liked. All of this still continues into my high school now. By getting a taste of both sides, I can easily say that I prefer having my backpack and going to my locker whenever (plus my high school is all on one floor, heh), but if this violence stuff really is an issue in these schools, having no backpacks will really limit it.
