Hmm, I see that not too many people are a fan of that second border I put up, so here is what it looks like without it. Other than the fact that I kind of like the border, the only way that it would work without it is with this skin; white background, no other skins to view it differently, etc. I also want to post up the avatar in case someone comes back to the thread after I've already changed it. Arcs? Tales? I'm not sure when one of these ends or begins, so you're going to have to tell me around what eps these eras are that are either good or not so good. I recently watched episode 28, and it has to be one of my favorite episodes of the series now, if not my favorite. They finally go back to Kenshin's past, and while the individual-stories were fine, I've found that I really prefer personal story episodes the most, when it really gets into the plot. I've noticed that the ending theme has changed for the second time. Does this mean that it has become a new saga, or simple a new season? I don't mind the dubbed version as much as some of you said. In the first place, I don't mind dubbing in general, and can't see why you wouldn't like that unless you have become accustomed to the voices or reading the subtitles. The two voices I can't stand, however, are the girl with the Southern accent, and the youngest of the little girls. I swear, that little girl is a pscho killer waiting to strike; her voice sounds like a kid's voice in some scary movie or something.
Originally posted by Aoshi Shinimori I wish I had all the episodes of Rurouni Kenshin cause it is my favorite anime. But the cheapest I fount was on e-bay for 120 bucks thats alot of money. Any way what episodes should I buy? Like number and all.
You can get the series brand new dubbed/subbed on ANIMEniacs.com for 95, so that e-bay price isn't too good. The completely subbed version comes in three sets, while the dub/sub comes in two, and the sub is a tiny bit more expensive. They used to sell all of the OVAs and such in one set as well, but they took it off for some reason. I have the URL to it, but otherwise it's not in the listing, and it won't even let me purchase it. I recently bought the series from there, myself, but I have yet to watch all 95 episodes of it. I'm on 25, the episode after
Sanoske almost goes bad again when he is reunited with his "friend" from that old clan that he used to be in during the revolution.
The anime has been very enjoyable so far; not my favorite, but good nonetheless. They've come up with some really good plotlines, when almost every episode is a new scenario, and it just amazes me to think that they could draw it all the way out to 95 episodes with so much detail in each episode. Some of the characters do look a bit similar at times, but that is to be expected, and it doesn't happen that often. So yeah, great series, but I have yet to watch all of it. I'll check back in once I did. EDIT: Oh wait, forget what I said about the sub sets. They're selling out of them, and they don't even have any more of set 2/3. Better just avoid that if you want the series.

I suppose by only hearing this from a few people in this forum, you could have your doubts, but some of my friends who don't even go to this forum told me about it before I even had time to ask if they had seen it. It happened. I'm still getting over the shock about finding out about theOtaku being mentioned on Adult Swim, and I just wish I could have been there to watch it. I guess it isn't out of the realm of possibilities, but it's always a surprise to see a community that you're so attatched to be mentioned nation-wide, even if it was only for a few seconds. After I found out, I started looking around for screen captures or clips or something, but I didn't come up with anything, nor was I able to match anything on Adult Swim's Trigun section with theOtaku's. That's not to say that I'm not more than convinced that it happened, though. Now if only my name can get added to the staff page soon.

Yes, I'm long overdue for making my own banner to go in my signature, but after buying Boondock Saints on DVD and watching that a few...hundred times, I finally knew what I wanted to base the banner around. The Boondock Saints is one of my favorite movies, so it is only fitting for me to pay tribute to it. Originally, I wanted to take my own screen shots from the movie to capture these images that you see in the middle of the banner now, but luckily I was able to find them on the internet after just searching for a bit. The words you see around the main center picture are the beginning and end of a prayer said by the main characters in the movie. For clarification: there are words inbetween which I had to discard because of the limited ammount of space. "And shepherds we shall be, for thee my Lord for thee, Power hath descended forth from thy hand, that our feet may swiftly carry out thy command, we shall flow a river forth to thee, and teeming with souls shall it ever be. In nomine patrie, et fili et spiritu sancti." Comments, critique, whatever. I like to improve on any aspect that I can. ^_^ Make it good, too, banners for myself like this are rare, heh. EDIT: Made the text slightly darker. EDIT AGAIN: Minimized the ammount of white space on the sides.
Originally posted by Monkeys_revenge Bweee! People like me! Well, my banner, anyways. Bweee!
Please do not post anything like this again. If you are going to post in the first place, make sure that you are contributing to the overall discussion, rather than make a quick comment or a thought like we see here. Think those things, fine, but posting it is ridiculous. You have been warned. EDIT: It has been brought to my attention that you already posted the second banner in another thread (I knew it looked familiar), and shows that you have absolutely no understanding of the rules. Topic closed, membership in question.
Originally posted by klinanime1 My favorite's the Motoko one. The animation is my fave, anyway.
You must put more thought into your posts. Any animation could be your favorite, but why does this one in particular stand out? What do you like about it? What don't the others have that can be improved? If you can't answer those questions and elaberate in your posts, then just don't post at all.

I don't know about some of you, but from the first banner it seemed to me like you were using it as an excuse to post, as if to perhaps mock the people who are posting their banners here, and even if it was just for fun, you don't always have to make threads for your banners. I see the joke in it, alright, but even if people were to understand the joke and try to post respectively, it would be very hard to critique or comment anything about it other than saying it's funny, or maybe improving on the text. In that case, the thread would likely be brought no where, and if it had not been for your second banner, this thread would be closed. I'd like all of you to please avert your attention towards the second banner and give your comments/critique on that, as it looks as if you put a little effort into it at the very least. I'm not trying to be mean or anything, I'm just upholding the rules and doing my best to see where the thread could possibly go otherwise.
-
You'll notice that this thread is considerably smaller. All of the spam that was floating around has been taken care of now, but I opted out of closing the thread because I didn't want LP to suffer because of what everyone else has been doing. Let me make this perfectly clear: when you go to post something in an art thread, be sure to read previous posts beforehand in case you are asking a question that has already been asked. Otherwise, please put such things into your post as why you like or dislike the image, what they are good at, what they could improve on, and basically comments and critique that will fuel discussion, rather than just saying "wow, nice, I like it," which even in an extended form is going to mean the same thing. Thanks. -Syk

Answer: The Real Folk Blues Question: From Episodes 12 and 13 of Cowboy Bebop, what is Gren's full name? EDIT: Whoops, the answer to that was Call Me, Call Me. I know I heard The Real Folk Blues somewhere near the end of the series, though..
Originally posted by ladyindistress this is crazy dood, all i wanted to do was say hi! and so now i'm registered on a site that i'll probably never come back to.:p look at all the trouble i went through for you. all i gotta say is man, you better appreciate this. :raspberry: this place is kind of like deviantart, except not. you've got some wicked cool emoticons, thats for sure. maybe i will come back, if i can figure out how to use the site. SHAZAM! always, lady (8/03-ah ha)
That was...odd. oO; But do you have anything to say about his art in particular? I'm sure (let's call him 'F', just because, er, I'm too lazy to write out his name, and yet I write out this entire sentence instead =p) 'F' would want to know what you like about his drawing, what you don't like, and what he can improve on. I think you did pretty good on this bro. You have all of the muscles down pat, and the shading is really good. I like the whole comic book feel you give it, and all the sizes go well with the rest of the body. There are, of course, parts that you can improve on. With the dude on the right, his pants are shaded very strangely, and his arm near the shoulder isn't even filled in. The background, such as the planet, should probably be filled in a little more as well. Nice job overall; I don't often see many of your drawings. =p
Originally posted by yalborap I have a lot of other stuff at www.geocities.com/comicaganza
In this post here, if you look at the times on mine and his, you were about to double post again. Not acceptable; use the Edit button at the bottom of your posts to add what you need. Secondly, if you have more cg to show us, please do so in a direct link individually, or else it gives off the impression that you are using this as an excuse to advertise your site.
Originally posted by yalborap Well, here it is. EDIT: Eh. That one didn't look right. Here's a different copy. It might look better. EDIT AGAIN: Never mind. EDIT AGAIN AGAIN: Here's a working one. Refer to lower post. -Syk3
This is completely innacceptable. Not only did you double post, you quadrouple posted, and even went off topic as well as had a one word post ('nevermind' is one word). Coming to a grand total of 3 rules broken, so I highly recommend reading through the rules thuroughly before you do anything else.

Ohhh, very intruiging. The first thing that you notice about this banner is the sort of double border that you mentioned, which now that I look at it is a very nice touch. I like it a lot, and I'm thinking about applying it to my next banner. You were really able to pull that technique off well. When you look closely at the text, I could deffinitly see that gradient. While using multiple colors is a nice change from the continuous solid color that everyone uses, I would perhaps use something a little closer to the girl's hair. I know this will sound a little strange, but I think you did a good job of keeping those bottom and right edges of your name sort of going into the diffusion outline, even though I probably wouldn't have thought to do that if it was me. oO; You picked a fairly good quality picture, and came out with another great banner. ^_^ I'm very impressed with all of your work, and this whole theme is deffinitly one of my favorites. *huggles*
Originally posted by Tical THOSE ARE THE BEST WEB COMICS EVER!!!!!!! I LOVE THEM!!!!!!!!
Tical, this is going to be your last warning on posting something very generalized in all capitol letters. For one, it's a pain to read. Second, you need to expand on your posts to say exactly what you like, dislike, and think they need to improve. It's the same every time.

Oh man, I had almost forgotten about this movie. That's not to say it wasn't any good -- it's an awsome movie -- it's just that I had seen it back in January and forgot my plan to look for it on DVD somewhere. So yeah, I saw it at my cousin's house, but I had never even heard of it before I saw it. It was a lot better than I thought it would be, and in fact became one of my favorite movies to date. It has a nice blend of action and comedy, and if you don't mind the cussing and such, I reccommend this movie to everyone. My favorite part is when
the detective is trying to find out exactly what happened at that one house, and thought that there were about 10 guys that shot it up, when it was only that one dude.
Man, that was awsome.
And then the brother sealed up their wounds with that hot iron.
If you're wondering, it's a perfectly ordinary movie that could happen in real life I guess, but very unlikely. It's not like the Matrix or some fantasy.

I think I might have seen this before, and I was recently trying to think of the name so I could add it to my list of animes I've seen.

I probably started drawing when I was really young, but I don't think I had much talent back then. My parents have told me that I did a really good drawing of a rocket ship once when I was in kindergarden, but I don't remember doing it. For some reason, kindergarden was more of a blur to me, heh. I think other people noticed that I had talent in drawing before I did. Back in elementary school I did a lot of good drawings in Art, in particular this one bird that I had made into a magnet and now have on my refrigerator. That was probably around the time that I "discovered" my talent, but I really only started doing it for fun about 4 years ago with my DBZ drawings, which is when I thought that I may actually be able to do this professionally with a lot of practice. I havn't drawn anything on my own accord for about a year now. I probably should, hmm..*goes off to find higher-quality anime cels*

Gah, I should have stepped into this whole mess earlier. All I've been seeing here is flame, flame, flame, and if everyone can't be mature enough to discuss this then I will close it. When you post anything here in the art section you should be prepared for some critique on the piece. Otherwise, there really isn't any point in putting up the artwork in the first place if you only expect people to look at it and go "Wow, look at the angels now." Without any critique, there's only so far this topic can go. On the other hand, too much critiquing can turn into flaming in the first place, but what maladjusted did sounded to me like simple, contructive criticism to help Asuka on her work, and Asuka took it a little too far. You can't expect everyone to like your drawing, but unlike what happened in the picture thread, mal's post clearly wasn't supposed to be anything mean.

Not bad. ^_^ I like the border, and where you were going with the text. You seem to have experience in those areas. There is a lot that can be fixed though, such as maybe cutting out the pictures slightly better (I can still see a little color coming off of 'No Face'), and the outline around the pictures should flow into the bg, while this looks like it's sort of forced and exact. I like how you were going for a greyscale feel to it, though, and the placement of the pictures is good too.

I have a friend that's amazing at lieing. He does it a lot, so we can catch him sometimes, but when this guy lies, he keeps a straight face and everything. I have this idea that when his face isn't serious, he's making himself laugh or whatever; he seems to have no feelings at all. o.o' It's really funny to watch him lie when you know he's lieing, and in a case like this, he can easily pull off having a girlfriend. I was kind of confused when he got caught with alcohol in school, since I would have thought he would have completely denied it and come up with a crazy excuse. At the moment, I don't have anyone that I suspect of lieing about a particular thing. For your situation, Manic, it may be a good idea to ask a few questions about this girl. Not too many, or he would probably realize you don't believe him about his gf, and don't come right out and ask him if he really has this gf and risk your friendship. Best let him admit it himself, and otherwise don't worry about it. Let him hide behind this "gf" if he's so desperate to do so.

What is the worst thing you've done to one of your brothers/sisters?
Syk3 replied to Fyxe's topic in General Discussion
Last winter, after my brother deleted my Metroid Prime file of 9 hours because I wouldn't adhere to his every command, I deleted his 20-something hour file on Vice City. It was pretty bad, yes, but I was angry as hell. Since then, though, I think we've both been able to go back and get even further than we were already, so that's good. But to this day, I've realized what a threat these game files are when placed into the wrong hands.. ..my brother always loves to blackmail me like that, and he's just so annoying. He tells me that he was born to annoy me; go figure. There are probably more bad things that I did to him, but I can't remember them too well. There was this time that I threw a marble at his head, though, but it missed and made a small crack in the TV. -
*Spam deleted from thread. It was almost an entire page, and I do not want to see any more in the future. Thank you.
Originally posted by klinanime1 ditto the above... wait... there was a judge who mentioned August 12th as a special date... yeah, something he/she was gonna do.
They said that they would be judging the drawings for the final time and choosing a winner, if I'm not mistaken. However, the drawings were supposed to all be in by the 10th, but seeing as the judging is going to be at least a day late, I don't see why Narius can't post his last drawing. It does seem that this contest has gone forgotten, hmm..
