Originally posted by Akki Koroshiya me likie sephie
Please put more of an effort into your posts. This is completely innacceptable when critiquing art. For it to be a liable post and not be classified as spam, you put say exactly what banner you like, why you like it, and parts you thought were particularly good or bad. Thank you for your attention.
Originally posted by AJeh What are the things in the circle? The banner may have looked better without the circle, but she wanted it, so nyeh.

Profile. Edit Options. Hide Email Address? Yes. I would have recommended this as being the very first thing you should have done when you joined. Unless you want people from this board IMing you, it's a good thing to do in case something like this happens. At this point in time, the person probably knows your email address though, so the best thing you can do is block the address. It may not even be anyone from these boards, though it won't really matter after you block him.

Yes, yes, another banner so soon. As I was saying, it was another request, but this time from OB; I'm sure she'll come and reveal herself shortly. ~_^ The banner was done completely in black and white, which is hard to accomplish, and was created in accordance to what the person requested. Comments and critique are welcome, as are suggestions on inproving it of which the requester will take into consideration before I go about changing the banner. So without further adieu* (thanks), I present you with another one of my banners..

I think this is leaning more towards something you should put in your signature than post on the forums. It's the same deal with advertising; you cannot simply make a topic on the boards where the overall theme is of your website. There is no dicussion created whatsoever, and you're taking the easy way out of looking on your own for people who are good at web design and help you with your forum. If anyone wants to help him, though, feel free to use PM. Topic closed. -Syk
Originally posted by Stuart I have never seen a such detailed banner.. It looks a wallpaper (Wallpapers tend to be more deatailed) How long did that take? Im guessing it was awhile
Lol, you all are giving me too much credit for this, it's just a simple banner. ~_^ I'd say it took about...2 hours or so, which spawned over two days, but that was only because my friend knew what he want. Otherwise, it's likely to have taken twice as long.

Excuse me for intruding, but for people who are just now seeing this topic, it was originated in this thread. I imagine that the sign-ups are closed, now, so you cannot simply come in out of no where and post a drawing. Thank you. -Syk

You're asking in the wrong place; this is Art & Design, we have a special Banner/Avatar Request forum for such topics. When you ask for one there, however, you have to be a lot more specific than this. You must detail exactly what animes the banner should be portraying, who should be in the banner, what you want it to say, whether or not you want your user name on it, and provide pictures if you have any. Also, don't forget to make the title as specific as possible, which means including the franchise of the characters you want in the banner. Topic closed. -Syk

We no longer allow introduction threads on OtakuBoards. This is due to the fact that we've noticed that it simply promotes the very thing that we try to prevent -- SPAM -- and sets a bad example for our new members. Welcome to the boards, have fun, and be sure to read the rules! :) Topic closed. -Syk

Just this last Winter, my mom hit her head fairly hard. We were coming back from a weekend of skiing, and when we finally got to the driveway of our house, we had to stop the car due to the fact that it had snowed all weekend and there was quite a lot of ice. So, instead of waiting to shovle the snow or let it melt, we started moving our bags from the bottom of the driveway up to the house. I was carrying a few bags to the garage when my mom called out for me, and when I went to her, she was sitting up on the ground. Aparently, she had slipt on some black ice on the driveway, when she thought it was safe to get off the side and was close to the car anyway. My mom had went down hard backwards, saying that she literally saw stars when she hit, and when I lifted her up and looked at my hand, it was covered in blood. So, yeah, that night we rushed her to the emergency room, though she stayed unusually calm during all of this, and she got stiches and a few staples. Luckily, it was nothing serious; she didn't have a concusion, she wasn't knocked out, and bascially came out of it with a lump. She's lucky, but she tells me that if she was knocked out and never woke up, that it was so sudden that she felt no pain. It was waiting a few seconds for her brain to realize what had happened before if started hurting. I myself have gotten through life without even a broken bone, luckily. But, while we're on the subject of injury, there was this one time on a bike... I had borrowed my friend's bike to ride around, since he was over at my house, and I wanted to see how much air I got on this one curb that was small, yet it got the job done. Granted, this bike was a lot lighter than I was used to; the one I usually use is a mountain bike while my friend's is a trick bike. So, I started on the other side of the street, got a lot of speed, then went off the curb, causing the bike to completely flip backwards and topple right on me, pinning me to the ground. I just laughed it off, though; it didn't hurt anywhere at all.

Heh, I'm hearing a lot about how the character isn't too cool, but like I said, my friend provided the pictures, blame him. =p lol
Originally posted by Java Mask That spot just to the left of the character seems the tiniest bit too bright, though.
It might be kind of hard to tell, but I used a Cloud filter for the background out of white and black, so a few white spots were to be expected. It may seem that the background is just supposed to be a grey, but I assure you that the white is to be perfectly normal.
Originally posted by Arkadyz Its a shame you dont make more banners and such anymore syk...Comeon we wanna see more... Dont make me beg :p
Ironically, I actually do have another banner in the works, which should be ready in the next few days. It's also a request banner for a friend; be on the lookout for it, heh. And just so you know, this is very rare. ^_~
Originally posted by Hataki Vash But one thing I dont like is, how you made the little orange tab at the bottom with the lettering squeezed in so tightly.
...yes. I'd have to agree completely, but at the time I made that little tab there, I had no idea what his user name was. I thought about making the tab a bit bigger, but it's not like the words are spilling out over the sides, and I had already given him the banner. *shrug* EDIT:
Originally posted by MistressRoxie The awesomeness. But it's not like I expected anything less from the great and graphic artly tallented Greg! You are truly an amazing-azing-azing artisto when it comes to computer graphics. You did more than a "rather good job" here. Like I said, absolutely fabulous. And I admire how much time you put into this. Like they say, "What you put in is what you get out." So keep up the excellent artwork, and thank you (AGAIN) in advance. ^_^ [yes, I'm crazy]
:blush: You're too kind.

Well, first off, I'm quite sure those signs are green no matter what country you're in, just so if you go to another place, you don't get confused. ^_~ Secondly, I'm really surprised how well that came out from using Paint. You did a great job in the photo editing, which I think you should pursue, and the sign looks like it could actually be REAL. ^_^ I could really use that place right now.. As for the overall banner, the outline looks great, the image looks clean and to the point, and I think you did very well on it. Great job. =)

I've been taking a few requests lately in banner making to sort of get back in the habbit, and I came up with this one for my friend. Before I say anything else, I know it's too big for OtakuBoards, because he will be using it on another forum. However, since I rarely make that many banners, I thought I'd share it with all of you and get your opinion. The banner itself didn't take me that long, since my friend knew the pictures that he wanted on it, but I had to cut them out the old fasioned way with the eraser tool due to the complexity of the backgrounds, and this is the result after two days of hard work. I believe that I did a rather good job on it, and my friend completely agrees. So...yes. Comments and critique are welcome. ^_^

Sure, you can use it if you want to. I'm not anymore so it's up for grabs. ^_^;

That is very good for a first try. Wow.. You did a lot of stuff right here that people who have been doing banners for months still can't do. I really like your use of text. You chose a color that incorporated elsewhere in the banner, which is extremely smart, and made an outline which would have otherwise clashed the text against the background. It's a pretty good font, and the placement was done well. I like that you used a picture of high quality, and the scan lines are a great addition. The only thing that necessarily needs improving is a personal prefference, which is the way the outline sort of fades in. I see outlines as something solid that should work as sort of a boundary for the banner, but maybe that's just me. To keep the red, I'd try a single pixel of black around the outside, a pixel of the red color around, and another black one to enclose it. Again, very good job! I look forward to seeing more work from you. ^_^

Okay, I edited the thread. There was quite a few useless posts, and a couple that needed editing because they started to go off topic a little. I don't care who's thread it is; all of you are going to respect the rules or this will be closed. Sorry for letting some things go out of control here. People are getting anxious to get started, I see. I recommend that you delete categories where no one has signed up, and put out a notice for how many spots need to be filled up and where. That should make things go a little smoother.

I've never pulled an all nighter before. Probably not so much that I can't, but I don't feel the need. During the summer, I usually go to bed at something like 2:00 am, staying up chatting with people and posting on the boards, since it's around that time when the most people are on. The latest that I remember staying up is to around 6:00 am when I was 13, since I had a bunch of friends over for my birthday party, and it was going to be my last one anyway. I guess I could pull an all-nighter if I really tried, but the internet can only do so much from keeping you awake, and as wrist cutter said, I really don't have anything to prove.

I remember back in my old "Dragonball Z obsessed" age, I'd spend a rediculous ammount of money on anything with the name DBZ on them. I would buy a tape with about three episodes on it for something like $15-20 -- I have about 29 of them downstairs. That's not including the money I spent for blank tapes to record even more episodes, lol. And then the action figures, magazines, clothing...the list went on; and stores were able to sell them at high prices because of the popularity at the time. I havn't really bought anything very rediculous lately, but that's only because I'm saving up to buy Kenshin for $95, heh. =p That isn't too bad, though, something like a dollar an episode. I now know a lot more about average prices and how much they should cost than I did when I liked DBZ, luckily. EDIT: Oh yes, beanie babies. I used to buy those buy the dozens, filling up a whole big shelf of them. I don't even know why I got them; now that I look back, all they ever did was sit there. Maybe I'll sell them one of these days..

My favorite ride is probably Superman: Ride of Steel at Six Flags America. I like rides for the same reason that everyone else loves them: for the feeling you get in your stomach, and on Superman, there is a large drop, two medium drops, and three small, yet satisfying drops. It's my favorite ride in the park, and since there are very few other amusement parks that I've been to, I'm counting this one as my favorite until I go on a better one. Probably the only thing that I don't like about it is the restraints. If you put down the bar too far, it really hurts your..*trails off*

Er...I'm not sure what you're talking about; the staff on OtakuBoards only close a topic if it conflicts with our rules, which I suggest you take a look at, because this particular thread will not do any good in creating any intelligent discussion. ~_^ If you have any questions about why a particular thread was closed, I suggest that you PM the person who closed it. In this case, I guess that person is me. Topic closed.
Originally posted by Semjaza Azazel I was surprised by how freaking long it was, though. We were in the theater for 3 hours. No more than 15 minutes were taken up by previews and commercials. I thought it was going to wrap up and end three times, but it just kept finding new things to go with. That doesn't mean it drags, because I was pretty damn entertained throughout the whole film. There were some really funny moments and the action was solid.
Yes, that's exactly what I thought about the movie. It was much longer than I thought it would be, and every time I thought it would end, it would find a way to keep going. It was a good movie all the way through, though, just a lot longer than I anticipated. o.o' As for the trailer, I don't remember any parts that they didn't show in the movie, but yes, I really hate it when they do that in general. They use all of this funny and cool stuff to get you to see the movie, and when you get there, it's like you payed for a different movie in a way. oO;

I've found that my summer is going by really quickly, and I havn't done much of anything. Many people on here can vouch for me when I say that most of my time has been spent on the internet chatting and posting on OtakuBoards. I went over to friends houses a few times, went to Six Flags once (with my season pass, god I need to use that more), and I've been driving nearly every day. Probably the biggest thing worth mentioning about what I have been doing this summer is that I went on a trip to California to go to a bunch of theme parks and meet Shy. ;) No doubt that was a lot of fun. Upcoming for me...more trips to Six Flags, the beach this coming Sunday, I have to read my summer books, beat FFX, finish doing some other stuff, continue driving without getting pulled over, go over to my friends houses near where I live (I usually go to the ones where I used to live), aaand...read the Lord of the Rings books I guess. I've barely gotten started on this summer, lol.

Go ahead; it would be really pointless if you continuously made threads for different work when they could be controlled in a single thread. Just don't forget not to double post! ;)

Not bad, but by looking at her face, she looks less like an angel and more devilish in my opinion, lol. I really like how you drew the wings, though at some points the lines trail off randomly, and I believe she is stabbing herself in the foot with the sword. Everything seems to be in order though, I don't see any mess ups with limbs. I have to ask, though, what is she pointing at, and in what way do you consider this a banner? lol o.o'
-
Wow, I must say, you are getting better with every banner. :) I wouldn't have taken a second glance with the first one, but this latest one...wow. ^_~ The first one had a lot of improvements, but it was a good thing to compare by. First of all, the outline could have been better; I personally don't like the look of outlines that come into the banner, because it looked too out of place. The pictures wern't of very good quality, and could have been cut out a lot better, and it seems out of place for Sonic and Shaddow to be doing almost the exact same way. The font needed work too -- red was the worst color to choose. Moving on..this next one is better, but could still use some improvement. The picture of the kid from 'Boy's Story' really does not go with all of the green in the background because of the blue it is already giving off. If I were to do that, I would edit the color to make it more greenish. The text at the bottom started out okay in front of the black background, but once it gets to the blue picture, it's much too contrasted and you have to squint. You got the idea on the border, but that black line on the bottom is really distracting. Lastly, the font in the middle doesn't look good being half grey and half white. But as I was saying, you improved a LOT by the time you got to the last banner. The first thing you notice here is the background, which is very well done, especially considering I can't do anything like that, lol. The pictures are of fairly good quality, and are cut out nicely with come occasional bluring into the bg, which sort of creates a dreamy experience. The outline is there, and the only thing I can think of improving is the text, which is sort of bland, but the color and location is fine. :) Good job!
