I really don't see this discussion going anywhere. There obviously wasn't any sort of intentional connection by the producers, and in any case, many series like to include the 'child influenced by today's tech age' as I like to say. Is this the first time they've had a kid in an anime? Is this the first time someone has been good with computers? Of course not. Heck, even Kaolla Su from Love Hina appears to have some sort of a connection to Ed. Sometimes a series will borrow elements from another series, or will do it subconciously. This is a clear description of the bond between Kenshin and Trigun if they are, in fact, not made by the same people. Topic closed.

Alright, I slowed down the banner a bit during the parts that I wanted you to see. If you were talking about the scrolling parts, I wouldn't really worry about it, since that isn't the main idea of the banner. I hope this is a little better.. Ohh, very nicely drawn. She looks very cool, and I really admire how you drew her hair. The way you drew the image was good, too -- you never made anything too dark, though you could have used a little more shadding. My only gripe with the image is that you drew her waist a little too long, which I would have cut off somewhere in the middle. I've had requests for drawings too. A while ago, I was asked to draw some Dragonball characters, and once I did, I really liked it, so I copied it and gave the person the copied image. All you have to do, in this case, is print it out, and see if the person would mind the drawing not being the original peice. :)

My brother's friend actually has a rule against this when we play Halo. Simply enough, no looking at the other persons screen. The reason someone would do that in the first place is because the radar is pretty crap, and you can only see someone on it if they are something like 20 yeards in your perimeter. In the past, I've sort of done it subconciously without thinking about it, since all I was concentrating on at the time was to get to the point of battle and fight it out there. Otherwise, I really didn't see how much fun it was to simply search around for your opponents the entire game, with not a lot of shooting at all. But yes, I do see where it could pose a problem. It would make it all too easy in an open feild to snipe someone or something, which my brother and his friend no all too well. When I play Halo, I usually make en effort not to look at their screen, but otherwise, I don't even think about it. If it happens, it happens.

Well, you could always use a hosting service such as 250free.com to upload the image, and then send it through PM. ~_^ As for email, I suppose keeping it secret could pose a problem, but there might be an option for concealing the adress. What I do know is that the Request forum is for requests, and not for threads soley for the transaction of banners where the deal was made elsewhere. Topic closed.

I think the main point that we have to focus on here is that the banner is much too large to go in your signature. The maximum is 500 x 100, and you've cleared that if not doubled it (in height, at least). Bear that in mind when you make a new sig. ;) It's not so bad for an actual image. Better quality and better text/font, I'd say!
Originally posted by PiroMunkie I never said time had to mean anything, lol. I just realized at that time that the sixth would mark a year and a half... *wonders if she will be back from where she is in time to celebrate* We still own. :p And as I said, we can double date, lol. As for the second 'banner', I still have no real considerance of it to actually critique it. I know how it was done, it did not take any real artistic talent... you can even see Adobe Photoshop open in the background, lol. It is a good idea, though, I shall give you that much.AOL has a tendency to 'crappify' images. When I used to have AOL it did this all of the time. It is why I used to use the Liquid layout for OB rather than the default; the default's top banner did not appear as well as the Liquid's did. So if it looked of lesser quality, that was AOL's fault. ^__^ Just remember: It is always AOL's fault, haha.Heh, we (you and I) have the same mindset. ^__^ So when can we expect a child? Hrmmm???
Gotcha, always AOL's fault...But Mei is using AOL! :( When you said that you own, I must have misinterpreted since I thought you were using the date to back it up. ^_^ Although, I've just realized that we havn't seen you two together together before, and vice versa. A double date sounds nice, in the sense that it will introduce that aspect. ;) As for children, Ken seems very keen on the idea of getting a grandchild as well (don't ask oO). If it happens, it happens. :angel: Thanks for your critique on the banner, by the way. I try my best. :)

o.o' Our mouths look silly, lol. No, seriously, you should have drawn me sitting at my computer with a pair of shorts on with, like, "Just Married" somewhere overhead, haha. The drawing is very detailed, however; fantastic job. How long did it take you to do that?
-
True, it does seem that the second banner was made more for fun than anything else, but it's a banner that I'd like you to see and state your opinions on nonetheless. ^_^ Referring to how Piro and Asuka have been married for almost a year and a half, a find that time matters very little to me. In fact, I really only met and got to know Mei three or four days ago, and look where we are now? ~_^ My point is not to say that we were rushing things, lol, but to show how strong we care for each other. Anyway, back to the art, yes. I'm very glad that you liked the banner, Mei. ^_^ I was looking at it on AOL at a friend's house, and it looked slightly different and of less quality, so I was a bit worried. That's alright though, I may end up saving it and taking it downstairs anyway to edit the banner a tad on a screen that does not suck. (Note: my flat screen has a knack for not showing me all of the problems with my banners, bleh) To everyone else, thank you for your kind words. :) BTW, maladjusted, it obviously wasn't a real wedding, but we can pretend it was! oO;
-
Well, last night, as many of you know, I was married to Mei in a rather large online chat. Now that we are husband and wife (^^;) I decided that it would be fit to wip up some new banners for the occasion; one for Mei and one for myself. Mei had been wanting one for a little while anyway, so this idea fit nicely. Mei's banner: The other image may be slightly confusing for some people. Basically, if you look at the first frame, this is the chat at which we were married, and I think the pauses in the animation speak for themselves. My banner: Please critique these images in an artistic way. And remember, I'm always up for suggestions on how to improve my work. That is, unless, you are reffering to the actual theme, lol. oO;

It's not too bad, but I deffinitly prefer your first background. Sarting on the background itself, I like how you made the light going in different directions, but the way that it sort of repeats itself makes it seem like you could have put a little more time into it. The colors are the same as your last one, but I like them, so that's not an issue. ^_^ The picture and text could have been a bit better; maybe not so much the font, but Yuna should have been of higher quality. That being said, I really admire how you cut her out, and it seems to go along with the background and blend in perfectly. And, of course, it could use an outline. :) All artwork would look better with outlines. oO;
-
Very nice, Mei. :) I really like how you were able to blend so many different colors on together without them feeling out of place. The colors could be used to describe a number of holidays, indeed, now that I think of it, even Easter. Especially Easter, lol. ;) If you look at it closely, it makes it appear as if the middle is coming slightly up, like a wave, as you can see from the increase of light in that area. Then around that area, it kind of blends in and has a softer tone, giving the impression that it's sloping down. My only gripe about the image is that it's all going in one direction, and if you had made it go all different ways, it would have been a cool effect. It could use perhaps an outline and a name, but other than that, it's a great peice. Well done. ^_^

There was nothing in there that remotely contributed to the discussion at all; such posts we refer to as "spam." Before you do anythign else, please read the rules and look around the forum at others posts to get an idea of what is expected from you. Another thing to mention is that double posting is not allowed, which could easily be avoided by using the Edit button at the bottom of your posts. Thank you.

Woah, I think this is the first time I've heard of a GC Four Swords! That game was awsome on the GameBoy Advance on it's own. :) That being said, I absolutely love all of these avatars. The shots were all great, and I wouldn't mind having any of these as my avatar. Simple, yet effective, good job. I think I'm going to use the Metroid one. I like the whole 3 dimensional look to it, as well as the glow it gives off. On a side note, this is the first time in a while that I'll be using an avatar that I didn't make myself. o.o'

Posting a lot has nothing to do with becoming a mod. Quality or quantity, I suppose. You are chosen to be a mod by the administrators if they feel you will be a good addition to the forums in clearing away any spam, and will not become in trouble in the future. At times, this is hard to predict, and it may not always be the best choice, but when you are chosen, you have been with the boards for a little while and are generally a friendly person. You know what the rules are pretty well and your writting ability is quite good. So marks another time when people look to post count to determine what kind of person you are. *sigh* Topic closed. Oh yeah, and by asking to become a mod you will automatically not become one; or at least, that's how it used to be.
-
Yeah, I like that idea, whereas we simply keep post counts in the profile section. We could also have people made as members from the beginning, rather than newbies or junior members, so it's never an issue of someone being better than someone else because of their post count or a title based on such. There are some ideas floating around that I find appealing as well, such as uploading in the quick response, a spell checker, a place in your profile where you can edit your font, and uploading banners into your signature. The upload feature in the quick response would encourage faster posts, rather than having to wait for the Post Reply page to load. A spell checker would be great for people such as myself who seems to find themselves editing their posts numerous times to weed out such grammatical errors. It would also help out newer members who are not putting as much effort into those kinds of things. The editing font would save a lot of trouble, especially for people who would have a certain font, but don't due to the ammount of time that it takes to type it in each time in your posts. Lastly, the uploading banners feature would help with people who don't know how to insert it in their sig using vB code, or have trouble putting it on the net elsewhere. As for forums, I think the main thing is that we should be eliminating those forums will less activity, or combining a number of low activity forums on their own. I agree that we should combine the gaming forums, and simply get rid of the Gundam forum. There should be a PC forum elsewhere on the forum, rather than the gaming section that is, since I didn't post their for the longest time believing the forum, to apply simply to gaming. We'll hopefully be able to move both the general gaming forum and the PC forum to a seperate section, perhaps an electronics section. I also find it a good idea to have icons when you put up a forum in order to imply it as being one of the four major consoles -- PS2, GC, XBox, and PC -- and perhaps deeper into older generation consoles.

On long car rides, I do a variety of things. These days, I'd sleep a lot, do homework if I have some to do, play GameBoy, talk, and above all else, play either GameCube or PlayStation 2. You see, we have this whole thing worked out. The small TV that my brother bought plugs into one cigarette lighter, then we bought this cord with an outlet that plug into a different cigarette lighter, to which we plug in GameCube or PlayStation 2. From there we can do anything from play video games, to watch DVDs and play music. Speaking of which, I also make sure that I bring my CD player as well. The longest trip I remember taking was about 16 or so hours from Maryland to North Carolina. This might seem like a long time, but we were behind this really slow truck, bleh. Not to mention this was before we had our TV, much less any gaming consoles at all.

You two, please try to stay on topic and say what you think about his artwork. You may have mentioned it breifly, but most of the post was dedicated to something else. That is spam.

Writing Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix
Syk3 replied to Queen Asuka's topic in Creative Works
Originally posted by Queen Asuka About Petunia's connection, Dumbledore clearly explained it as thus:
it is an old type of magic that his mother had died to save him. And because Petunia was his last living relative, it sealed a magical bond. That's why the only place that Harry is safe at is his home on Privet Drive.
Pay attention to these things. ^_^
Arrghh...I knew all that! lol I guess it just didn't make sense to me...and it still doesn't. :-/
I understand about the magic that his mother gave off when she sacrificed herself, whereas Voldemort could not touch Harry, but why couldn't he get at Harry at his aunt and uncle's house, even by sending someone else? o_O
-

I've been noticing a lot of rude comments coming from you lately towards other members, such as this one. Art i made thi cool banner but i cant figure out how to put it on
Syk3 replied to Dragon Tamer 89's topic in Creative Works
The Vietnamese, you could have put that a lot nicer than you did. He just wanted a simple answer, which you did as well, but you could have left out the first part. In any case, the question has been answered, so topic closed. -
I really don't see a point to this thread other than rating and critiqueing the awards themselves. So, I'd say critique away, but they are pretty much the same thing other than the color. There's nothing really to say about these awards, and you've gotten the notice to these members anyway, so topic closed.

It's nice, but if it was supposed to be a real OtakuBoards banner, it should have the links somewhere, and it's also quite large. If you'd like to post a real one, please use this thread rather than this current one or a brand new one.

It's nice, but you should just use this thread rather than make a new one. The discussion wasn't that great in this thread, anyway.
