1. I agree, the size of the banner should be irrelevent as long as it isn't totally huge or totally small, which the judges will be able to tell. Also, I'd like to know it we can submit more than one image.
  2. We had one, as a sub forum in Anime Lounge. However, as time went on, it was apparent that these sub forums wern't really getting that much attention, so they were taken down. I don't think we'll be considering a Trigun forum again for quite some time; at least not until some serious demand is there.
  3. I'm not sure which one I'm getting next, whichever comes first of Super Mario Advance 4 (GBA), F-Zero (GC), Sould Calibur (GC), or Mario Kart (GC). Something tells me that Mario Kart won't be the one, lol. In any case, I'm getting those games because they come from great franchises, and the imports and E3 versions look fantastic. Super Mario Bros. 3 is a remake, so I know how good a game that is, and I used to play it all the time way back in the day. Either way, I know I can trust Nintendo with these titles. However, I'll probably end up just getting a lot of these titles for my Sept. birthday, so I may not exactly get one of those before the others.
  4. You may suggest it, but this would go in Suggestions, not Otaku Lounge. Besides, I believe that there may be such a contest in production. *moves it anyway*
  5. Welcome back. Introductions threads arn't allowed, however. We used to have a forum for these sort of topics but it somewhat deminished. Have fun; don't forget to read up on the new rules that we have. :)
  6. I'm not sure if this thread is really liable. I mean, making banner is such a general topic, that it's impossible to really discuss through a thread as such. I would recommend finding tutorials on the internet, trying to copy what other people have done, or just playing around with the program. I think that's just about how I got started, except without tutorials.
  7.
Originally posted by Red When Neo meets her, she says something along the lines of 'next time we meet, I won't be the same'. I'm not exactly sure what it is, but I think she's going to be different. Don't quote me on that, though.
Does she really say that? I must have missed it, but I guess she knew she was going to die. If she did, it wouldn't be that surprising, it sounds right to me.
  8.
On a sad note, Gloria Foster (the Oracle) passed away a few years ago (2001). I was surprised to read that, but thought, well, they could have just recorded her scenes earlier. . but now, I am curious what amount of time she will be in the final movie, if she even will be. I would hope that they got the scenes with her, instead of getting replaced (though, as it is a computer program, it would be easy enough to say she was just 'updated' or 'upgraded'. . or what not).

Yes, well, I was quite surprised when she even showed up in the second movie. I thought I heard her voice in the trailer for the third one as well, which totally freaked me out. In the game, however, there is a different actor. She talks to Ghost or Niobe, depending on who you are playing as, and explains that the Marivingian (sp.?), the man with the Twins, gave her a choice, and ended up having her original "shell" destroyed. Aparently, that's why she looks different, but due to her being a program, she could exist in a different body I suppose.

Originally posted by AJeh I don't understand some stuff, which might have some obvious answer, so..MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS -All the images of Neo in the background screens whilst he was talking to the Architect.. are they his predecessors? If they are, how come every 'One' looks the same? If they're not, are they the guessed reaction of Neo or something? -I didn't understand what Smith said. He was commanded to be erased, but he decided to rebel.. becoming a rogue program. So are the Twins rogue programs? >.> -How long has this version of Zion been around for? Were the other version of Zion around for the same amount of time? How long has the Matrix been around for? I know they never mention how long Zion's been around for, but I do remember them mentioning an estimate of the present year in The Matrix (first one). Bleh..*wonders why he asked that last question now*

No, they are not his predecessors. Can you imagine how many previous versions that would be? That's way too many according to the Architect. No, rather, those are the different human behaviors that he recorded during his lifetime, that he picked up and had he walked through the source door, that information of humans would be downloaded into the Matrix allowing the machines to perfect on their design, and the Matrix would go to version 7. Well, Smith, or should I say Virus Smith, knew what he was supposed to do, but didn't do it. He rebelled the system, showing that programs do think for themselves and are able to do differently. Remember how Neo was fighting those Agents at the beginning, and he said, "Hmm, upgrades." Well, that could have been the system trying to match his skills, or it may have been a better program that would replace Agent Smith, but since he was a virus, they couldn't stop him. The Oracle explains this somewhat.
It's on version 6 right now. I think other people can answer the other questions. As you can see, I've been going through everything and know a lot more about the Matrix universe. I saw the movie again, and beat the game on both characters, and now that I'm doing a speech on it for English, I'm bringing all this information together and coming to understand a lot more. I'm hoping to put all of this information in a book that I will write over the summer, lol. One such conclusion that I came to was about Zion and the Matrix and the sentinals and all that.
To put it simply, Zion is...not part of the Matrix, the sentinals are. You see, the sentinals are hooked up to the Matrix as well, and that's how the machines are able to control them; through the same system as they do people. Remember in the first movie how the Agents said that they sent the sentinals? I believe that the Agents do have control over them somewhat, if just a little bit. Since they were part of the Matrix, Neo could feel them, and that's why he was able to stop them. The reason he passed out was because even though he had his powers, The Matrix is known for being able to bend rules and such. This is the real world. He had to pay the concequence.
I hope I explained that a bit better. Hopefully I can answer others questions as well.
  9.
Originally posted by Manic I don't know...
Remember, Niobe's ship is still in tact. For all we know, Neo probably just thought he stopped the sentinels, but Niobe really just set off an EMP. Or maybe there was something else in the surrounding area that caused the sentinels to deactivate. Because honestly, it may not have even been Neo that stopped them. Either way, I'm just guessing.

It's an idea, but remember that Neo said that something was different; that he could feel them. Not to mention the fact that he passed out afterwards. Unless he was a special sort of machine program that could go in and out of the Matrix, then a simple EMP blast shouldn't have harmed him. Besides, I'm not sure why you think having a Matrix inside of a Matrix is too simple; that just makes things more complicated and detailed.
10.
Well i would like to go along with the "matrix in a matrix" theory but...If thats so why wouldnt the machines just d/c the humans that are jacked into the "real world" IE zion...Instead of going through all this BS of burrowing into the city and what not. Wouldnt it be more logical to just pull the plug and start over as opposed to exterminating everybody in a fake world that they already control? Wouldnt make much sense now would it?

I'm not sure...they are probably powerful enough to go in through the 'real world' and take down Zion, themselves. After all, they still want to give the people of Zion hope, and they could learn from their attack for future versions. I suspect that they did things different in each version, and believed that this was the best way to take care of them. With each version upgrade, they learn more about human behavior, and their effects reflect this. It's like asking why the machines don't uplug everyone in the Matrix if it was the real world. Sure, they won't have to keep their minds in any prison so that the humans won't rebel, but the machines need the humans' energy to survive.
11. It's more of a rent then a buy, that's correct. I had it on Normal difficulty when I went through, and it was very easy. I ended up beating the game in about 3 days or so, and I didn't even play it that often. I have yet to beat it as Niobe, however, which I am planning to do on a car trip later this week. My brother has gone on the net and done some hacking, but I really don't want him to use any cheats until we beat the game with Niobe. The multiplayer mode is kind of fun, but you can't use Focus, so that sucks. I think the only other good thing about this game that I didn't mention before was the music. They kept it right from the movie, and it is pretty cool. ;) Other than that, not that great of a game.

    Banner.
Originally posted by neotravis2003 (note:read the rules first, I wouldn't like it if this topic got closed or deleted. syk3- I'm not trying to double post, you told me to go here, remember?):freak:
Uhhh, I'm not sure what you're talking about. o_O You only posted once; it isn't a double post. Anyway, the banner is okay. It could use a lot of work, though. The pictures need to be presented together in a creative way, and you need some better font. Either way, the quality is very low, but that can be avoided depending on the program that you use. Did you make that using Paint?
  13. The contest is now OVER. No more entries are allowed from this point in time, given that Sunday night was the final chance. I will edit later to give you my last ratings on the contestants. The only people who should now be posting are the judges, anyone else who does will have their post deleted. Zidane: Hmm, it's really hard to tell in these images what you are trying to convey as your imagination. It's a fine image, but you could have added a lot more images, or set them up in a different way to imrpove it for this competition, in my opinion. Judge Rating: 6.5/10 DarK DeatH: A very nice image, indeed. The graphics are amazing, and through the words you can kind of tell what you are thinking. I can't really make out any of the images, but it appears as if you intentionally added some pictures that have been on your imagination. You could have tried adding some more images, in my opinion, and outlined a few of your themes a bit better. Overall, it's a good rendition. Judge Rating: 7.5/10 Final Ratings: (some may be different from originals) -------------- Chinchiromon: 4/10 *Sara: 9.5/10 Shinobi: 7/10 WW2: 7/10 Phantom?s Angel: 6.5/10 *Maladjusted: 8.5/10 *KittyLynn: 7/10 Kaisuke: 8/10 Daedalus: 8/10 Zidane: 6.5/10 DarK DeatH: 7.5/10 -------------- *Hand-drawn pictures My rating would go to Sara, either way, but if we are counting computerized and hand-drawn seperately, my computerized award would go to Kaisuke or Daedalus, of which I would choose Daedalus for creativity.
  14.
I'm not really sure what the point of this was, if you two are brothers. o_O You could have used PM, or just have asked him. One-word posts are against the rules, and so should using .bmp, because it's not going to show up anyway. Topic closed.
  15. I got the game yesterday from recommendations of my friends. Enter the Matrix is basically a video game based off The Matrix: Reloaded, but from a different point of view, that of Ghost and Niobe. The two characters are rarely in the movie itself, which raises qeustions about why they are in the game, but in some cases it's better not to be playing as the all-powerfull Neo, and it unlocks more elements of the deep story-line. The idea of the game is absolutely fantastic. It is clear that it is very polished when you first boot up your system, from things such as the beginning video to how you load up your game or choose your character. The Wachowski brothers do a very good job of keeping you into the game, by bringing in cut-scenes that were actually filmed, and looking as if they were in the movie itself. In the playable parts, close hand combat is very fun with the inclusion of the Focus meter, a meter that decreases when you slow down time, but goes back up slowly afterwards. While slowing down time, it allows you to execute much stronger and awsome moves, and you can even dodge bullets. It is deffinitly an original tool added to a video game (maybe Max Payne is similar, but I've never played it) and it brings you back to your Matrix fantasies That's where the good parts end, however. Despite being able to choose different sets of controls, it is very difficult to control your character, as you turn slowly, and when you are moving around, it's kind of jumpy. When fighting a bad guy, it seems like you are doing the same things over and over again. The levels also feel repetative in the sense that they arn't that detailed, and it's like going through a maze or something. As you can see, it's good that the Wachowski brothers directed the game, but they could have done better with the game developer. I know that they tried to get a better developer, but they were turned down on their first choices. That being said, it's a pretty good game, but it could have a been a whole lot better. I'd say about 7/10 in my opinion.
  16.
Originally posted by maladjusted O_O Then why did you rate my new version?! ARGH! This is confusing me...
I didn't, I didn't even see your new pictures until I went back to read my post. The rating had come straight from the original. ;) daedalus: Interesting. Not necessarily eye candy, but when looking at it for imagination, it has a lot of different meanings. If you look at it in a certain light, and I'm not sure you meant it this way, but if you see it as if human nature sometimes mirroring that of certain animals or insects, it kind of brings out the picture. Good job. :) Judge Rating: 8/10
  17.
Originally posted by iceghost I really hate Clay he looks like a ermmm well he looks kind of gay. Reminds me to much of justing timberlake
Looks can be decieving. ;) Besides, we're not judging on looks, we are judging on how well they sing. And from that point, I think Clay has the best voice, honestly.
  18. Bah, that's the fourth time that you've posted that picture. Anyway, this is similar to what theOtaku.com: Arena does, as it puts anime or gaming characters up against each other. For this reason, I don't think we'll be having such a competition on the forums.
  19.
The first third of the movie drags abit. theres alot that goes unexplained(like was said previously you get more insight if you see the animatrix series) and some of the action scenes are abit mundane. Also one of the most awkward and uneeded scens occurs during this time. Some dumb and out of place giant mosh pit with frequent cuts back to neo and trinity making love...Didnt really feel needed to me. The much hyped neo vs the hundred Agent Smiths was good if abit overlong...It doesnt really start getting fun till neo starts using the pole. Thankfully though hugo weaving is such an excellent actor it isnt corny at all when 7 agent smiths are talking to neo just before the fight(The man is excellent all throughout the film) Now When we get to meet the man who is keeping the key maker(I dont remeber his name ATM but he speaks with a french accent) From here on the storyline starts getting more cohesive and the action scenes more frenetic(and better looking) The Twins are just too cool for words. They dont say alot but make a big impression  Now to answer some Qs that some have brought up with some of my own fuzzt logic reasoning  The whole thing with the architect...It boils down to there has been A ONE six times prior. There has been a zion six times prior. This all has to do with the fact that humanity needs hope. The machines ALLOW us to have zion to give us hope. Without hope we would simply give up and die. This is why the one exists. The machines allow us to have hope in the form of zion...But its a flase hope. The machines destory zion evey 100 years before it gets too sizable and becomes a real threat. Its just another form of control...Just one that we cant percieve as easily as the matrix itself. The whole thing is a continous loop...A ONE is created...He meets the architect...he chooses to create zion anew to perserve hope which perserves life. Only this time the ONE feel in love and instead of choosing to create zion anew he choose to save trinity. Ack ok im kinda running myself in circles here trying to explain it...I saw the movie 10 hours ago and it was more clear in my head then...ill probly have to watch it again... As for the guy on the table in the end...He is infected by agent smith and is controlled by him. Agent smith has "evolved" into a virus able to infect humans and machines. And no zion hasnt fallen...Again ill attempt an explination. The guy got infected by agent smith before he could leave the matrix...After being infected he leaves the matrix and is under the control of smith with none of the humans the wiser. The ship that hes on is part of the human counter attack against the sentinals that are boring towards zion. But because hes controlled by smith he makes him activate there EMP prematurly shutting down 5 of the ships in the counterattack and allowing the sentinals to easily defeat the hoverships. Now hes on the same ship as neo(and as you remeber he ALMOST killed neo (outside of the matrix before except he was interrupted) Now as for him shutting down the sentinals in the end...I think in the process of everything that happened in reloaded he gained some sort of connection to the machines...I say this just cause he said he could "feel" the sentinals just before he shut them down. Im sure this will be explained more in revolutions.

Ai, thank you for explaining these things a bit more. One of the reasons I didn't like it as much as the first movie was because I didn't understand so many things that were said. Having read this, I must say that The Matrix: Reloaded was a much more enjoyable movie. I'm hoping to see it again in the future for one last understanding of it all, and of course the trailer of the third movie. Oh, and I've updated my score.. Movie Rating: 8.5/10 (from 7.5) Much more clever story than I originally though. ;) But still not better than the first.
  20.
Originally posted by maladjusted Oh right, I forgot to ask something. Since I made a new version of my pic, does that mean the judges' scores for my new version doesn't count?
You are correct, [strike]sir[/strike] ma'am. :whoops: Kaisuke: Somehow I think you are capturing your imagination quite well. ;) For what you have there, it's a good job; decent text, great background, and, er, interesting picture, hehe. You could have added a little more, but I think you understand what we're asking for here. Judge Rating: 8/10
  21. Anime, eh? That would belong in the Anime Lounge. :) *moves it*
  22.
Originally posted by Transtic Nerve Wednesday May 14th, 2003. 10:00 pm Eastern Time.
Yup, that's when I saw it as well. Except that you probably saw it before me anyway; those dumn movie projectionists couldn't figure out how to work the film, and it ended up taking until about 15 mins past 10 that they finally got it working correctly, frontwards and on center. Honestly, I'm not sure that the movie kept up to the hype. I felt that the first movie was a lot better and more original. The sequal focused much more on sex and comedy than the first, and the fight scenes got a little bland and boring after a while. Like TN said, it became kind of like the DBZ of The Matrix where sometimes the fighting would go on and on. The one scene that he is talking about in particular, I didn't like on some levels because it was so computer animated. The graphics were far too obvious, and it seemed like I was watching a video game of some sort. And then the plot...don't get me started. It was a very confusing movie and you have to pay very close attention to what the Oracle and the Architect say. Now for some specifics.
I thought that the movie began okay. However, that bike should not have made such a huge explosion, and I didn't really like when she was fighting all those buisness dudes. Why did they even try to fight her in the first place? And then when she jumped out the window, the second version was much better. In this dream, the gun went off like it was a video game, and wasn't that loud at all. I think they could have improved on that scene a lot. *shrug* That being said, my favorite part in the movie was deffinitly on the freeway. The whole part was awsome, but my abosulte favorite was when Morpheus got out of the car with the sword, and when the ghost's car came at him, he dove out of the way. On the end of the roll, he kind of was looking forward and putting the sword off to the side, cutting the car, and causing it to flip over. Slowly, he got up, took out his gun, and blew that car up, lol. Pure genious. At the end of the movie, when they showed you the guy, they made it sound like "Omgz!?21@112111 Look!@!11" when I thought they really didn't put enough emphasis on him in the beginning for that to really sink in. Okay, so you saw him once, and he tried to kill Neo. So what? Maybe he was doing it for his own reasons. Was he supposed to be an evil spy or something? Like Cypher? Or had he awoken as Agent Smith?
For all of you who have yet to see the movie, wait through the credits. Aparently, there's a trailer of the third movie, which I obviously missed. Man, now I have to watch it again. Oh well.. Final Rating: 7.5/10
  23. I'll keep this thread open as long as you discuss the banner like you would any other art in this forum. Next time, try to make sure that you convey that you made the banner and you want people to judge it, but you may place a side note that says that the banner is for so and so. As such, I'll edit the title so that moderators and others arn't confused.
  24.
Originally posted by Shinkoru ITs nice. :) I like how u put an outline. But uh.. it prolyl belongs in banner request section.. nevermind heh
No, this is fine. Since they are showing us a banner, we might as well rate it here. ;) It's not too bad. The quality could be up, and you could have added some originality, but it's a decent avatar.
  25. *sigh* The reason that it isn't working is because you added parenthises for some reason. The software isn't going to read it as a url, and will hence not bring up the img when you put it in the code. So the code is fine, it's the URL that's the problem. Try uploading it through this server from your hardrive. :) On a side note, some of you have been really shortening your messages lately, like using 'u' for you and 'r' for are. It's not against the rules or anything, but it's easier for people to read if you spell it all out. It also shows lazyness. Just a thought. :blackeye:
