1.
Originally posted by kizu Maybe it is just the 26th where I am at. It said on my preorder that it is avalible the 26th. I scanned it and it says the 26th, but that may just be because Wal-Mart never gets thier games in on the offical release date.
Nah, I got that exact pre-order. It doesn't neessarily mean the 26th, they are just giving themselves time to get the game. For my local Walmart, they got it on the 25th, so I picked my game up today. Strange...it says the 26th, but I got mine the 25th, heh. Forget what it says on the pre-order and focus on the earliest date that you hear it will be released, then just call them until they get the game in. :)
  2.
Originally posted by Queen Asuka Love Hina has so much nudity in it, yet it is hilarious.
You're joking, right? Lol, I have the Japanese version (which is very unlikely that it is edited) and they show absolutely nothing. Not that I was...er, looking, but...umm, there just wasn't any of it. Yeah. Perhaps you mean the manga...
  3. I'm very hesistant to keep this open, but as long as we keep on discussion and reframe from offending younger members, I'll keep it open. Short and rude comments such as "I like hentai! Yum yum!" will not be accepted at all and will be deleted immediately. Obviously nudity isn't necessary to have a good anime, but some people believe so. As anime nudity has it's own genre, hentai, to an extent it is necessary to entertain some audiences. In other genres, however, they could always imply the occurance of sexual scenes, and still get basically the same result that they were looking for. As Flash said, though, if it plays into the story line, it can be accepted and/or necessary, but if it's there for no reason at all, then the anime could probably do without it. I don't particularly have a problem with it, but the developers need to do something with it rather than just throw it in. The reason there is such an emphasis, as you say, is because these artists are trying to create a world that mirros reality, but at the same time bring in different aspects that you would not usually see in real life just because they...well, can. I wouldn't say it's there just to entertain American fan-boys, since an anime series would obviously be originally considered as a Japanese show broadcasting to Japanese TVs. It goes without saying that over there nudity is treated much more lightly and casually than in other countries. These things can be a bad thing, however, and make people go absolutely crazy thinking that all women look like that, when they're actually in their own little minds that are limited to what they see in an anime.
  4. Okay, I got the game! Now to post my first impressions... I'm going to skip the opening story line, as Charles so kindly told you all about it. ^_^ The first thing I noticed once the game started was obviously the graphics. The graphics absolutely blew me away, even after seeing all of those pictures. It's a lot different when you're seeing them in action in a video game. The graphics are smooth and tastefull, and seem to make everything very cheerfull. Everything in the game goes together so well. The next thing was that, well, I'm not sure, but I'm pretty sure that Link's sister, Aryll, talked in Japanese. Below the screen, the caption "Big brother!" came up as she said a word that I couldn't make out at all, bringing me to believe that it was Japanese. It was understandable that they left out a voice over, however, since that's the only thing that she's verbally said so far. Other than that, it's been trademark captions. ^_^ [EDIT: I've concluded that she did not speak in Japanese after all. It was most likely something like "Hoy!" which the characters seem to say a lot.] The next thing was the expressions on the characters faces. When you first see link, he looks half asleep, which Aryll rightly comments on. Link's face later makes an obvious adjustment when he was surprised. This, I believe, is what Wind Waker is all about -- the simplistic reality to the cartoon visual engine. For the controls, so far so good. It feels so easy to execute each button, even when I'm going through the captions. Overall, the game looks absulutely brilliant, even before I've yet to actually walk around with Link (yes, I named him "Link" -__-). I just wanted to post some quick first impressions for everyone. :) EDIT: Another point I would like to make which ties into first impressions is the sound. They have sound for so many things that it's mind boggling; it reminds me of SpongeBob Square Pants sound effects in a way. They go in with the game very nicely, and keep the cartoon feel to it. It just sounds so...natural. And the camra!! Anyone who's played this so far know what I'm talking about. The camra engine in this game has been greatly improved. While you used to only be able to go first-person outside, you can now only go first-person inside now, which is actually a lot better. Outside, you can move around the C control stick however you like; left, right, zoom in, zoom out. It's literally heaven compared to the N64 prequals.
  5.
Originally posted by James Anyway, I'm still thinking about how to go about this. My brother and I play cooperative on certain games...maybe he can be Tingle when I play TWW and vice versa. I don't know if I want Tingle's help though, because I don't want to make the game any easier. o_O
Yeah, same here. I have a little brother who I could use to play as Tingle, but I don't necessarily want to have the game to be easier than it is ment to be. However, if I can use it to find extra goodies and collect practically everything without making it any easier, I'd deffinitly go with that. I just like to have everything. ^_^ (makes a note to buy the link between GC and GBA) Well, I was planning on getting Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker today, but my local Walmart didn't have it (even after my friend swore they had it on Friday, but just hadn't put them up for sale yet. Turns out he meant GameBoy SP, and just got confused). They tell me that they'll have it by tommarrow morning, and I'm sick anyway, so I may stay home and get the game. It'll be the first day I've missed all year, but deffinitly worth it.
  6. I was actually watching when they awarded the oscar, and I was just thinking about how happy I was that an Anime movie had actually won. At the same time, however, when I think about it this is a big step for anime in America, but I don't think that it will necessarily gain a higher respect over this one show. First of all, as Rick Hunter points out, Disney played an important role in the production of this film, so not all the credit is going towards Japanese animation. I suppose that it shows that Anime has grown in the US, but it really hasn't reached it's high point by far. We'll have to wait and see for that one. The movie I'm really interested to see in the way of public opinion is the upcoming Cowboy Bebop: Knockin' on Heaven's Door (April 4th) hitting theatres, dubbed. If Spirited Away made the oscar for 2002, it almost deffinitly secures Heaven's Door's spot, in my opinion. And plus, the film has no affiliation with american companies; it's a complete Japanese animation. I already have the Japanese version, and I can tell you, people are going to love it.
  7.
Originally posted by Angelus Go to a suncoast or sam goodie and have them order it in for you. Thats what I do/did.
Well, I think they said that they got the first movies from Suncoast, and then all of the movies were aparently taken off the shelves. I don't know why they would do that, though.
  8. Well, the scheduals have deffinitly significantly changed, so let's see where we all stand. Below is the current Cartoon Network anime line-ups. ----- Moday through Thursday Hamtaro -- 3:30 pm G Gundam -- 5:00 pm Dragonball Z -- 5:30 pm Yu Yu Hakusho -- 6:00 pm Rurouni Kenshin -- 6:30 pm Reign: The Conqueror -- 12:00 am Lupin the Third -- 12:30 am Inuyasha -- 1:00 am Cowboy Bebop -- 1:30 am Friday Hamtaro -- 3:30 pm G Gundam -- 5:00 pm Dragonball Z -- 5:30 pm Yu Yu Hakusho -- 6:00 pm Rurouni Kenshin -- 6:30 pm Saturday Pokemon -- 7:00 pm Pokemon -- 9:00 pm Yu-Gi-Oh -- 9:30 pm Dragonball -- 11:00 pm Zoids -- 11:30 pm .hack//SIGN -- 12:00 pm Gundam 0080 -- 12:30 pm Sunday Hamtaro -- 6:00 pm ----- In comparison to the original schedual, this one has actually decreased in anime. Strange, huh? Oh well, now everyone has a more modern one to go by.

    1. This is an old one...but Gohan from DBZ, lol. This was much easier to tell back in the day when I was overly-obsessed with that show. I'd actually have dreams that I was him, I'd sometimes think I was him, and, well, he was my favorite character in the series. 2. Hmm, let's see here. First and foremost, we have the same initials, if that counts. :p GS (some people get confused, but 'Son' is actually his last name). We don't like killing, we help our friends in tough situations, and we are stronger than our fathers. We never give up, and we are the most strongest when we are extremely angry, haha. 3. Do I look like him? On some points, I think we do. We have natural dark hair (though mine really isn't that dark) though sometimes it is blond (I use bleech :)). Unfortunately, I can't say I have as big of muscles, but we are both rather tall and normal size.
  10.
Originally posted by solitaire ...Thank god, maybe now they could put other anime series like Cowboy Bebop moved from Adult Swim to the Toonami line-up or put the much anticipated Trigun on the Toonami line-up. I've seen both, but hey, I want to see if they will dub it.
Lol, they've both been dubbed, I've got the DVDs to prove it, but they would still have to edit it up for American television. I doubt they will show Cowboy Bebop on the regular Toonami line-up. They usually like a series that will run for a while so they won't have to keep changing Toonami shows, and Cowboy Bebop is kind of short (26 episodes) and has already been shown to death on Adult Swim. I can see Trigun becoming a regular Toonami show...but aparently it's already committed to Adult Swim. Well, I would rather see it shown less edited, personally, so that may be a good thing.
  11.
Originally posted by Desbreko Fastest selling isn't the same as most sold. And I'm pretty sure it's the GBA that holds that title, anyway, not the GCN. I think the GBA sold around 500,000 in about a week.
In that case, I'm pretty sure that N64 must hold that title. I can't remember the exact number, but I remember that hundreds of thousands of units were sold in the first few hours. o_O
  12. Lol, I think Vegeta would be no match. Seriously though, Vegeta could just blast him, so I don't think we should face off with anyone from DBZ. ^_^ I wouldn't mind having Vash the Stampede fight Spike. Now that would be a good match. Vash's accuracy up against Spike's determination. I think we'd get a pretty close score. Other ideas...Kenshin against Vicious -- a nice clean sword fight. I'll hit you with more when I can think properly.
  13.
Originally posted by Psyco Actaully Nintendo has been going uphill since N64, and now we have GCN, the fastest selling console....ever....
Fastest selling console ever? Since when? lol Combined with the GBA, it only racks up around half as much as PlayStation 2. I think we've discussed this before... Anyway, I do hear very often how a lot of people's favorite games were on the SNES, but I don't necessarily think they are getting any worse. I personally never owned a SNES, but I played them a lot at friend's houses, and I am having just as much if not more fun on my own GameCube. Games like Metroid Prime, while having a very high visual quality, keeps intense gameplay that can get much more in detail than old SNES games, in my opinion. Other such games hold GC together, and there are still more to come with Wind Waker and F-Zero, rival the overall SNES console. And with connectivity of the GBA, the possibilities are endless.
  14. Hey, well, I'm kind of surprised that I'm coming up empty on Sonic Advance 2 threads. It's supposed to be among the top GameBoy Advance games; much better than the first Sonic Advance. Well, I say 'supposed to' because I havn't exactly bought it yet, but then, I didn't even know that it was out until Thursday night. Magazines such as EGM didn't drop a single note on it at all, and didn't even put it on the list of games coming out in March. When I first saw the game, it was a total shock, and if I had the money right then, I would have bought it, lol. I went into school the next day planning on telling my friends about it, and one of them already had it. Needless to say, he had his face in the GameBoy the entire day...literally. He had me stand in front of him in the hallways so he didn't bump into anyone. On his account, the game was much better than it'sa predecessor, and TechTV's Extended Play gave it a 5/5, and said that, quote, "fans of the old Sonic will be in heaven." So basically, I want to know who has this game and what your thoughts on it are. How do you think it ranks up among the first Sonic Advance and the old Genesis titles?
  15. First signs of Spring in my own mind...temperature rise is a big thing, lol, and the sun comes out a lot. Just today and I walking around on my deck; shorts, T-shirt, no shoes. We just left the door opened for hours today, letting the cat go in and out -- for me, that's a big indication of Spring, lol. Also, the sun comes up much earlier, and soccer season starts. Although we only have one practice a week (other teams are having 3), it's still another great indication of spring, and we are forced to wear shorts and T-shirts, heh. I'm really glad that Spring is finally hear. I'm kind of sick of snow, since it has caused so many extra days of school!
  16.
Originally posted by gokents So although I am glad trigun is coming to us, I am seriously dissapointed that they will be keeping riegn any longer. They should actually think about removing riegn and putting up another show... maybe getting the rights to some more of those robo shows like nadesico or eva.
Ahh, well, I'm glad that people will finally be able to see Trigun; it is a magnificent series. As for the Lupin and Reign issue, I personally have no stand since I have seen neither, but I hear that Reign is not that good at all. But then, I also see pictures of Lupin and think, "What is this?!" Eh, I know it shouldn't be based off anything like that, but that's all I know in the way of that series. I don't think that we will be seeing a regular Evangelion air on Cartoon Network any time soon. Since ADV films is making the Anime Channel, Evangelion is supposed to air on it, and I doubt that they would let any other channel show it, keeping it exclusive. Sure, they may get the rights to show a preview, but the whole series won't be showing.
  17.
Originally posted by Tasis nay [strike]Syk[/strike] Sky, it's light grey (backround of posts)... Thats the second time it's seemed different on your comp... What type of color does your computer have. 256? o_O
It's actually running on a 32 bit color. o_O And that's the highest it can go! It anyone knows what I am talking about on Windows XP and knows how to change this, please tell me.
Originally posted by Kinetic I meant the person in the foreground. But thanks, if you could give me that link, that would be great, because Enishi is really cool and makes a brief appearance in Kenshin.
Lol...I'm so stupid...*hits self in face* Even so, I didn't know the bad guy's name. ;) I think I'll edit my avatar and banner a bit, though.
  18.
Originally posted by GinnyLyn Maybe his avatar is saved in jpg format, as opposed to gif, where the cut off corner would be "invisible". :bluesweat
In that case, I did that on purpose, since my screen catches the background in white anyway. I hope that's what it's doing on other people's screens as well. ^_^ And the reason I cut it off in the first place was because I don't want it to seem like an ordinary, square avatar. Plus, the .jpg I use has a much higher quality than .gif.
  19. I actually have...quite a few friends who drink, smoke, and do drugs. And while I like hanging out with them, I have a firm decision not to do any of those things. Don't get the wrong idea, though, I don't just hang out with people because they do that kind of stuff; you'd never guess it even if you were around them for years.
  20.
Originally posted by Harry Be prepared to laugh at your ideas when you're 16-18.
So, are you saying that all 16-18 year olds do drugs? I'm around that age, and I'm not laughing.
  21. Woah, I'm kind of surprised they won't repeat the season, heh. Anyway, I don't remember a time when DBZ wasn't on Toonami on a regular basis. While it's good to give it a break, to an extent, I do think that they could have chosen a better show, but that's just opinion.
  22.
Originally posted by Ryo the Tamer Now that I watch it more... Kenshin kind of reminds me of Vash...
Heh, that's exactly what I was talking about. They both have names feared as being ruthless killers, and they have humorous attitudes until the fight, when they become serious. They don't want to kill anyone, either, which makes them out to be a pure good guy. Women follow them around, and they even save their lives once in a while. It's mind boggling just how similar they are.
  23.
Originally posted by Kinetic It's very good. The background especially, but I have a question. That is Enishi in the foreground, right? If so, where did you get the image. He's the one anime character that I think looks the best. I used to have him as my avatar when they used to have it uploaded here, but they went down and didn't bring that avatar back.
I havn't seen many episodes, so bear with me. Is Enishi actually Kenshin? Because that's the person that is used in the background - same as in my avatar. I'll PM you with the site I got it from if you want me to.
  24. Yeah, I didn't really want the image to jump out at you, but rather reward the people who look hard enough. ^_^ I was also considering of adding a quote in there, but I didn't want to risk it; there are so many things that could go wrong with font, font color/style, etc.
  25. Things I have collections of...the original Goosebumps (Sp.?) books, Ani-Meyham Dragonball Z playing cards, Calvin and Hobbes comics, and the state quarters. Most of that stuff, I don't use anymore, so stop looking at me like that. o_O I have every original Goosebumps book, and a whole lot of the DBZ cards. I don't have a specific number at the moment. I counted about 10 Calvin and Hobbes books and 21 state quarters. I don't have a favorite Goosebumps book, since it's been so long, but my favorite DBZ card is probably Vegeta, since it is supposedly very rare, or one of the halographic Super Saiya-jins, like Future Trunks since you can use him at any time without a previous card. My favorite Calvin and Hobbes...it's been way too long since I read them, and I don't have a favorite quarter. -__- How long? That's a hard question. I started collecting Goosebumps books in 2nd grade, DBZ cards in 6th grade, Calvin and Hobbes in 6th grade, and the quarters when they started coming out in 6th grade. Keep in mind I'm in 10th grade now. I really don't have any collections going right now, save the quarters. But if you call consoles and games a collections, I do have a bit of them, but not a huge number.
