1.
Originally posted by L.A. Rod. Now that I have saved us all from this topic with the most efficient of efforts, here's a new question that will send it all down the toilet: How did the future Cell recieve genetic material from Frieza when he came back to Earth and was destroyed by Trunks? Forget it, I'm gonna go solve the Middle East Crisis.
Well, assuming that this Cell was from a time where Goku died of a heart virus and Trunks never came back, then Gero may have gotten the genetic information in the huge battle of Super Saiya-jin Goku versus Freeza and King Cold. He must have noticed the humongous power, and taken information from Freeza and King Cold. And with you bringing this up, it has opened a new light of information. The reason that Gero and Android 19 wern't released Trunks's timeline must have been because Gero saw the battle between Goku and Freeza, and knew that they wouldn't be able to do anything against Goku. Once he realized this, he decided to go ahead and release 17 and 18.

Akira

I saw it on the Action Channel as well, but I knew it was supposed to be good so I taped it. :) I was really impressed with the movie. I heard that it was a great classic, and after watching it, I agree wholeheartedly. I just couldn't believe how it went from biker gangs to something along the lines of Dragonball Z. o.o' But I liked how they did it -- they didn't draw out action scenes, and the power wasn't as big as power in the Freeza saga, which was good because it's not like they could blow up the entire universe by shooting blasts out of their hands. The art is next to fanatastic as well, especially for it's time era. That really helped tie the movie together beautifully, a movie that's a pure classic and will always be remembered.
3. Well, as TN said, he very well may only be recognized for that in America. He is known for so much more in Japan, but even if he wasn't, he is a genious for thinking up and drawing 500+ episodes/movies. Think about it, Dragonball Z alone had something like 270 episodes, and still he goes on to make 13 movies. That's one hell of an imagination. As for a new series, I really doubt it. Dragonball was very original, and Akira put all of his imagination into it. I'm sure if he was going to concentrate on another big series, he would most likely be taking elements from the Dragonball universe.
4.
Originally posted by gokents Hence, gero is killed, and the droids (17, 18) are never released. Then, 15 (or what ever number) years later, cell awakens and comes out to find his droids. Only he doesnt find the droids. So he finds trunks and kills him, steals his time machine and travels back to t.l. B.
Your theory, for the most part, is believable, except for this part. This is the only part of the theory that I am having trouble with -- If there were no androids, then the world would be in peace, right? Then why would Bulma need to make a time machine in the first place to return to the past? It seems to me that she wasn't going to make that time machine anyway; she only did it so that Trunks could warn Goku. In other words, there would be no time machine for Cell to retrun to the past in.

Naruto

I knew I remembered these character designs from somewhere; we had a Naruto discussion before. But I'm willing to give you the benefit of the dout because the last date in that thread was over a month and a half ago, and because there were only two posts. However, if that thread is to be revived, this one will be closed, understood?
6. My favorite shows, non-anime, are mostly on Fox. They include Simpsons, Family Guy, Malcom in the Middle, That 70's Show, Andy Ricter, and probably a few others. As you can see, I usually go for comedy in shows, and I find that Fox has a good selection of these.

Snow

We had snow over here in Southern Maryland, USA, and got off of school for it. It wasn't very much, maybe an inch or something, but it covered the ground and the road, and made my weekend a total of 4 days. ^_^ I never exactly went out in it though; I just stayed on the comp and watched some TV.
8.
Originally posted by PiroMunkie I would not think that it works the same way with half Saiya-jins. If you have ever seen, or seen pictures from, the DragonBall GT television special that came after the actual series, Pan was very very old. I forget the actual age, but not only was she old, but she looked old. Given, Pan is only one-fourth Saiya-jin, but if it happens for her, I think it would happen for a half Saiya-jin simply for the presence of human genetics allowing them to age. Attached is a picture of Pan when she is older, and with some style!
Well, hey, she looks pretty good for 100 years old. She still seems to have original hair color, so I believe that the "prime" genetics very well may go the same for part Saiya-jins.
9. I watched it a few episodes today and it finally came to me. Here's how I see it: Ok, timeline one. Everything happens as such, and then Freeza comes to Earth to destroy it. Eventually, the Z fighters come out of hiding and begin their attack on Freeza as King Cold watches on. Goku comes down and goes super Saiyan, then beats Freeza after a little while. King Cold becomes furious, and a huge battle ensues, where Goku wins in the end. A year or two later, Goku dies of a heart attack (because being a super Saiya-jin in that battle encouraged it), and after a total of three years after Freeza came to Earth, the androids appear. Gohan is the lone survivor, and teaches Trunks to be strong. Blah blah blah, Trunks goes back in time to prevent Goku from dieing in hope of him finding a way to defeat the androids, at which point he would go to his own time and defeat his androids. Timeline two is the past that Trunks comes back to. Goku has the heart attack anyway during his fight with Android 19, and the rest of the androids are awaken. Goku, Gohan, Vegeta, and Future Trunks decide to train in the hyperbolic time chamber as the androids search for Goku. When the Saiya-jins come out, they are very powerful; powerful enough to destroy the androids. They do so, and Trunks retruns to his timeline, timeline one. There, he defeats the androids of his time, and when he is about to go tell his friends of the past, Cell comes out and demands to know where the androids are. When Cell learns that Trunks killed them, he kills him, and takes his time machine to the past. Generally, at this point, one would assume that the past he returned to has no androids, since Trunks helped Goku to destroy them in the past as well. But what happens is that Cell ends up in timeline three, the normal one which the show goes on. Maybe Trunks made a mistake when seting the time on the machine, or Cell programmed it to a little before Trunks would arrive to tell them. Either way, he ends up in the past around the time that Trunks showed up to warn them of the androids, but because he was in his larva state, he could do nothing. He eventually hatches, and everything after that is history in the way of Dragonball Z. Hopefully I've made it easier to understand, but if I made it more confusing, just ask me to explain something.
10. Ahhh, I used to know this. I have pretty much all of the episodes that explain this on VHS, so I may watch it again and try to explain it. But I believe that it is very close to what Jinzouningen17 said.
11.
Originally posted by gokents Actually the difference is about 5 years. Bulma and yamcha were about 17 during a db tournament when they found out gokou was 12. Plus, the idea of yamcha being younger looking than gokou is an interesting one, because saiyans do not age the same way as humans. Saiyans have a much longer "prime" of their lives and appear to age at a much slower rate than humans. Thats why chi chi looked so much older while gokou didnt change at all. (although, artistically he did change) So for yamcha to appear younger is just a coincedental thing. He is older, yes, and he is a human, so he does age more dramatically. Sooo... this is probably a thing that is for each of us individuals to decide on. Its nothing written into the story though.
You took the words right out of my mouth. :) Although Yamcha does seem younger than Goku, he is older and is supposed to look it, what with Goku being a Saiya-jin and having the genetics to look in his prime. What I'm wondering is, does this go the same with half Saiya-jins?
12.
And you shall shed tears of scarlet.
-Vicious Yes, I know more than one person that likes to make fun of it. Of course, they're judging it on it's name, and that it's an anime, so they really have no right to. This of one of those people who thinks all anime are like Dragonball Z and Pokemon. Rediculous. Otherwise, I can't believe how popular this thread has gotten. But then, I would still like to see more people join; there are very few people joining every week, and I will not rest until everyone on the boards has joined! Or...not... So, if anyone knows anyone that likes Cowboy Bebop and hasn't signed up, tell them about the club! :)
13. Do you defy my thread?! Hmm, I guess you do. Incoming Transmission >> THE DISCUSSION OF ALL CARTOON NETWORK LINE-UPS WILL TAKE PLACE THERE
14. It's weird, I havn't been sick for the longest time. Over the past few years, I believe that the only time I actually missed school was when I would go on skiing trips. It was worth it, even though making up one day of school is a lot of make-up work on it's own. But I do remember one time when I had the flu. It was terrible; I just lied in bed all day, and when I would simply move my head in one direction, I would have to throw up. That really sucked. :( I think I lost about 20% of my body weight.
15. What has been going on...well, first, you should check out the announcements and scroll down; previous announcements during the time that you missed should still be there, so you can catch up on a few things, I suppose. A very important event that you should note is the start of OtakuAwards 2003. Check the Event Arena and vote for your pick in each catagory. ^_^ My Christmas wasn't too bad. I got some cool stuff, and had a fun time out of school, so that's cool. :) Lastly, Anime Superstar, I'm told, was what theOtaku.com used to be featured as on their website (i.e. theOtaku | Anime Superstar). I don't remember it, but I'm sure some people here do.
16. I am anticipating this game very much, especially if it surpasses the first game. While we're on that, I really liked the little bit of Devil May Cry that I played, and I'm hoping to finally get it now that it has gone down to $20. I have heard, however, that the first game lacks adequate length, you could say. Many of my friends complained that the game was too short, but from what I've heard from the sequal, it takes care of this problem. Well, I deffinitly can't wait until January 28th. ^_^
17. Heh, I have to say that I get my information from Electronic Gaming Monthly. *ducks under table* They have previews, they have reviews, they have articles, and for the most part, I agree with them. Plus I'm just looking for a gaming magazine to take around, not something that's going to go too detail into things; I want to play the games myself. So yes, ha ha, I use EGM to get my gaming info. ;)
18. Lol, I pretty much only watch Fox nowadays, so I've seen this show. It's kind of a cool idea, to see if the women would go for his money or him -- I especially want to see how they react when they learn of it. Of course, there is some rumor that the whole thing is stagged, so that would suck, but I suppose it would still be interesting to see how the producers feel that the women would act.
19. It's probably the date of all countries. It was like that with book four. I can't believe that it's finally coming out! I got the fourth book at midnight on the day it came out, which was over a year and a half ago, so I've been waiting for a loooong time. And now I have to wait longer!!! This is really good news. Not only do I want to read it, but my mom wants me to read something because I havn't read a book in a while. But one thing surprises me -- 1/3 longer than the last? I had the impression that no books would be as long as the fourth, much less longer. :/

Anywho, I really can't believe my banner was chosen of all of the other excellent entries! I would have been happy with any of them, since they were all so good. ^__^
21. It sounds to me like a great manga magazine; it seems to capture the manga versions of most of the anime on America television today. However, there is already a discussion on Shonen Jump going on, and that is right here. This is the second thread I've had to close because of this, hmm...:whoops: -Syk3

Spriggan
Originally posted by amiboshi It's nothing like Trigun at all. O.o
Well, that throws that rumor out the window. ^_^ Someone was trying to tell me that Spriggun was the Trigun movie, expect for the fact that no one from Trigun is in it. I was like...*_*

I have yet to see Spriggun, but is it true this is an unofficial movie to the Trigun series?

25. Oh I don't believe this... Although I would be extremely angry at the television show that would have caused my child's death, I wouldn't have let this come about to become with. First off, I would have done everything in my power to save her, but it makes it seem like the parents in this situation might as well have stood back and watched. They're are really numerous possibilities that could have saved her, but only one that her parents see - the TV show influenced her. If sad, but it's not going to win them anything in court.
