Originally posted by Rick Hunter :D Your going to smack your head over this one! OVA stands for Original Video Animation. Basically certain anime companies test out a series idea or movie idea through these short 30 min sometimes 45 minute mini movie/episodes. Some good animes started out as OVA's such as what many know in America as "Tenchi Muyo" that show actually is an Ova that did so well it spawned Tench Tv aka "Tenchi Universe". Ack now we're really getting off the topic .. >.> guess we should get back on it.
Yes, but thanks for the info. Anywho, I was planning to watch Queen Emeraldas, might have watched the first few mins. I suppose I needed to know more about it, and if people would reccommend it and such.
Originally posted by Angelus_Necare heh, there really Is a god... This will be a great change from the International channel's Anime programing (Dbz, Slayers ect.) which are all in japanese. I don't think hlaf of the shows would be so bad with dubbing, just as long as they keep it the hell away from editors.
Yeah, well, the anime is already made, lol. It is totally uncut, and we're hoping they'll keep it so for TV. And Seph, I do agree that sometimes dub voices are bad, especially when you hear buu subbed, and then dubbed.

Darn it. I'm so stupid. I could have sworn he said not particularly anime. I was pretty confused by it as well. o_O That's what you get when you read too fast!!! Well, the section I'm doing should be up Saturday, so you'll see soon enough, hehe.
Originally posted by OutlawDragon Duh! Man Greg... Back on topic: If it is on television wouldn't that mean they'd have to edit the Anime? Ofcourse not as much as CN but still some. They might not even try to get some anime on there because of editing. Lataz -OD
You'd think that wouldn't you? But actually this channel would not be public televivion, but would force you to pay extra to get it in the first place, and is exclusive to Digital Cable. I dunno, I've been seeing some uncut anime on the Action channel, which is probably very similar to what the Anime channel will be like.
Originally posted by Rick Hunter Actually they aren't series but OVA's, Queen Emeraldas, and Harlock Saga are sort of like side stories/ventures of recurring characters in the Galaxy Express time line. That is the only tie in with the Galaxy Express 999 series and other ova's.
This is kind of off-topic, but what does OVA really mean? o_O

I might have applied, but I'm currently working to bringing theOtaku.com another section, and then perhaps another. v_v I'm curious to know what kind of DVDs you had in mind. :)

I liked Ghost in the Shell. Sure, the plot could have used some work, and was lacking at times, but the animation and the few action scenes were great. I most especially liked the tech feel to it, and I'd give it a 7.5/10. You should put it on your list, in my opnion. :)
Originally posted by OutlawDragon Heh. I usally keep my PS2 in the living room because we have alot of people that come over alot. So I'd have to set it up in my room to watch some. Parents usally take over the tv.
Yeah, I usually do the same thing. So much hassel with the cords and such though. Man, if we could only combine the computer and anime. Wait...arn't we doing that right now?

I'nm not really sure what people think of me. That's like asking me if I'm popular; I dunno, ask someone else. Anywho, I said crap because I used to act kind of like a mod back when I was Solid Snake. And I didn't have any character either, so meh. But for some reason I seem to piss a lot of people off, and that's why I picked crap.

Ah, the first game I have ever beaten was probably...Diddy Kong Racing for Nintendo 64. I know it sounds rediculous but I played that game for hours on end when I first bought it. Two months later everything was completed. EVERYTHING.
Originally posted by OutlawDragon Sounds good to me. I don't like having to get out my DVDs and my PS2 just to watch some Anime. I'll be happy to watch it, even if it is dubbed. Lataz -OD
Yeah, I know what you mean. My PS2 is clogged with Vice City. No DVD is going to get within a mile of that thing.

Anime...twenty-four...hours...a day...*_* HALELUYA!!!!!!!!!!! With that being said, I'm VERY interested in knowing the channel number and premire date. I havn't really gotten a chance to see a good veriety of anime lately, so this is the best thing that could happen. I have, however, watched some of the previews on my Neon Genesis Evangelion DVDs for other ADV shows, and it looks very amazing to say the least. :) Pass the word! Twenty-four hour anime! :D EDIT: Most of you are complaining about bad dubs. Meh, the only bad dubs I see are the ones shown on Cartoon Network. The completely uncut and direct dubs I've gotten on DVD, like Cowboy Bebop, Outlaw Star, Trigun, and Evangelion are almost a perfect match, but without having to read all those subtitles, heh.
-
Yeah, I was wondering if there's an option to turn the voices of the characters off, where there may be subtitles, but you can't hear anything from their mouths. Just wondering because...I think I turned it off. o_O At least, I hope I did. Rather that that it being a clich. So anyway, how would I go about turning the voices back on?
-
Yeah. First of all, as Matt said, you can't do these kind of who-vs-who topics. Next, the fight ended over 10 years ago. You can just ask someone who won or watch for yourself. o_O
Originally posted by super goku Mystic Gohan is not as strong as SSJ Gohan
LOL, who told you that? Mystic Gohan is Gohan with all of his power and hidin power unleashed. Super Saiya-jin is...erm, Super Saiya-jin. It's a level, but Mystic is Gohan at his strongest.

Lol, I just think it's purple. You can take that however you'd like. ;)
Originally posted by OutlawDragon Ok, "Rain" is a good song too. But I have to add "Cosmic Dare" to my list as well. Cosmic Dare is the song on the radio the Faye listens to before "The Tanker Incident." Infact, I'm listening to it right now. Maybe we should make a nee thread about the songs instead of spamming it here, eh? Lataz -OD
Or you could just go here, heh. Continue all music discussion over there!!

So what you're basically saying is that we should allow spam in a forum that introduces newbies, right? Heh, if we did that do you not think that it would be inevitable for some of those newbies to think it was okay to do in other places? Even if most newbies don't go to the intro forum, as you say (there are usually around 10-15 threads that have been replied to in the last day), then why even keep it? Wouldn't it be more convieniant if we had a forum dedicated to introducing a newbie to the way that they should be posting? Would this not help to prevent spammers who would have otherwise known that they should use higher post quality? Well?
-
Sry bout that. I reliezed you never said either way, so I edited it. I didn't even see your post, lol.
-
LOL, grey...maybe when he's a little older. Oh wait... Anywho, it's deffinitly purple. Glasses could fix that. ^_~

Yeah, new members can exibit themselves properly in the forums that they post in. If they don't, we can respectably tell them that such-and-such is wrong, other than if they say something in the introduction forum and it's okay because post quality is lowered. To create a better environment as a whole, we need to teach newbies right from the start how to post and to read the rules. Otherwise, if they see what goes on in the introduction forum, they may start off with a poor sense of quality in mind.
Originally posted by Jinzouningen17 First of all, I shoulda made my post more clearer and said they COULD show it in 1 season(in less then 2 or 3 months.). But you gotta admit, that would be kinda stupid if they actually cut it in half. That would mean we'd get maybe 2 months of new episodes(not including holiday's and stuff because you know they always show somethin special on them days. *shudders at the Courage marathon last week*)and then the other 10 months would be reruns(that would equal up to 5 sets of reruns, which would in point turn people from DBGT and not even think about watchin the next season). So lets take a look at this.... 64 eps, they couldnt divide it into 2 seasons UNLESS, they only showed 16(beginning with the beginning of DBGT through the Pan as a doll saga) eps for the first season, and then 48 eps the next season. Those 48(beginning with the Rirudo/Bebi saga) eps would more than likely go to a waste because people would get sick and tired of the reruns and decide to not even watch that timeslot again. And you say it'd help em "make" profit? If they do that, they'd lose more money than MC Hammer did. Hell, probably would lose more money than Sisqo did when he made that "Unleash The Dragon" video that never aired on TV. So I stick with what I said. The SMART thing for them to do is show DBGT ONLY on Saturday's(about like they originally did with the Garlic Jr. Saga). This way, if they do wanna split it up into seasons and let it drag out for 2 or 3(MAYBE 4) seasons, then they could do so. But if they show it daily, fans will get sick of it and not watch it again(and DBGT would end up a flop here just like it did in Japan).
Yeah, I said that they will probably do that, but I wouldn't support them in their decision. As for showing it on Saturdays only, that would take literally years to show 64 eps if they go by seasons. If do it all at once, people would complain of not getting re-runs, if, say, they miss one eps and are thrown off-track of the story-line. I'm not quite sure how Cartoon Network is going to do this, but either way, we will complain about their crappy buisness ideas. :) Funimation on the other hand, they will probably release a continuim of DBGT tapes, 2 every month, 3 per tape, as the do DBZ.

Anime Akira, the best anime movie of all time?????
Syk3 replied to Darkness's topic in Otaku Central
Originally posted by OutlawDragon Well, lets see, I think that the greatest movie, in my opinion has got to be KOHD. The Cowboy Bebop movie. I have found a great liking to this movie. Usually I'll go through an "anime phase" where the latest anime I've seen is this best, bladi, bladi, bla. But I've been a big fan of Knockin' on Heaven's Door for a long time. Lataz -OD
I agree that KOHD is better than Akira. The plot exeeds, in my opinion, Akira's about some guy providing the energy for every living thing, or something like that. Don't get me wrong, I like Akira, but I really think the plot gets stranger and more far-fetched as the movie progresses. -
Anime Just picked up "VHD: Bloodlust"! ...and you won't believe where!
Syk3 replied to JCBaggee's topic in Otaku Central
They are selling anime at Walmart and Target now?! About time, there's practically no other stores near where I am in 'ol hickville. I had to resort to buying my anime online. What's wrong with that? Nothing, I can get it real cheap. It's just the wait that annoys me, heh.
