1. I've already posted here before, but I do recall another anime that I remember to be really bad. I can't remember the name of it, since I watched it in anime club almost four years ago, but I can try to describe it. Let's see.. I think there were like, three girls who fought evil.. I'm pretty sure I'm not mixing this up with something else, but I might be. I know that there was definitely this one really short guy with red hair, or something, that lived in their house and seemed like he was from the stone age, and would run around everywhere being incredibly annoying. In the end, it was so bad that we just had to take it out and watch something else instead. lol I can't say I'm too eager to know the title to begin with, but if anyone does know it, it would help me to warn others. :p
  2.
undefinedundefinedundefined[/color'] Hello there how are you today? I'm new here and I'm getting used to this board. It's awsome. So what are yal talking about these days? Have yal seen the new episodes of Inuyasha? Pretty cool huh? :catgirl: :catgirl: I know a few things about anime so if you want hints or stuff then email me. Thanx :D :D :animeswea
...wow. Where to start? lol Um, welcome to OB, for one, haha. Before you do anything else, though, you gotta read the rules first. We don't allow introduction threads or posts, so find a good forum to start out with, check it out, and start posting in relevant topics. This post is spam, and that's something that is definitely against the rules. ;) Feel free to PM me if you have any further questions.
  3.
Hehe...Isadora. Banner 1: I like the purple texture and the bumpy stuff like you said... Banner 2: It looks kind of smudgy. Like you are making a pastel drawing and you smudge it. Banner 3: I like the outlining!!! Wavy kind of texture. Banner 4: Woah...*puts some shades on* It's bright!!! Banner for MEE!!!: I didn't like it as much either...the picture you chose was good though. ^ ^ -Who Am I?
Particularly with your comments on banner 2, I'd ask that you please expand on your comments of the banners and get down to your critique about how to really improve them, you know? Some of it was alright, but it would be nicer to be further in detail.
  4. Ima, please try to avoid bringing back thread that are already dead in the ground. This one is nearly a year old! :p
  5. I'm just going to close it then, alright Dela? That way the thread is still archived and people maintain the posts they put effort into, heh. Feel free to start another one if you like.
  6.
B or possibly D.
Please provide a deeper description for your opinion. That's all this shows, anyway: an opinion. Without proper reasoning, it means nothing to the artist and he or she won't be able to improve from your post. All we ask in Art Studio here, and you can refer to the Constructive Criticism sticky, is that you explain what you like and dislike about the piece constructively. Thanks.
  7. Finally, someone who agrees with me. :D Thank you, DW. :p
This may have already been replied to, but I feel that I should say that Wookies are incredibly long-lived, compared to humans. The average Wookie reaches 200 years, or better.

I thought the appearance of Wookies in general was alright, but even if Chewwy, age-wise, fits in there, it's the whole thing about how unnecessary it was. Like they were sticking him in there as a high-ranking general and all that for the Hell of it. It's not like it would have mattered, anyway, because Chewbacca was hanging out with Han in episode IV as just a freelancer.

I wasn't being too picky on the acting. I thought it was done as it should be done (even if I admit the "Nooo!" was retarded). The only other part that I found slightly poor was [spoiler']when Anakin was talking to Obi Wan right before they started fighting. Anakin sounded very monotonous, but I am under the impression that was what they were going for.

I definitely agree with that first Darth Vadar part, but as for the other one, I thought that Anakin did an especially good job there, haha. You could really see his anger, and his anger was justified and made sense.
  8. Welcome to OtakuBoards! We have a subforum that deals with any and all requests like this called Art by Request, so I'll go ahead and move it there now. Just keep that in mind in the future, heh.
  9. I'm going to have to agree with Retribution on this one. Not about this piece in particular, but this forum is a place where people are intended to recieve critique for their artwork by others. Take it or leave it, but acknowledge the judgment as something you might want to use to improve. In any case, Boo has requested, and I agree with him, that we should get back to the artwork at hand.
  10. My first thought in the way of the location of this thread was to move it to Art Request, that being the forum that deals with any and all requests art-related (you don't say..). But actually, we do have another forum called Manga Workshop where you can develop your own created manga, which I believe this topic is best for. Moderators, feel free to move it over to Art Request if I'm actually wrong about this. lol
  11.
Anyway, why isn't it valid for fans to compare this film with the originals, or to keep the originals in mind while watching it? Isn't that the entire point? This is a direct prequel, after all. ~Dagger~
Like I was saying before, it's hard to compare them because they really feel like different films. And it's true, they are different in a lot of ways, and different isn't always a bad thing. I wasn't saying that fans shouldn't keep the story line of the originals in mind, because you're right, that's the entire point, but rather the movies overall and their feelings toward them.
  12.
People are picky because this is Star Wars. This is something that means a lot to a lot of people, so of course that's how they're going to take it.
Well, yeah, I'm just saying. A lot of people go into this movie with the previous two in mind and are just looking for something to ***** about. They can't be pleased, no matter how good of a movie Lucas dishes out, because the originals are so inplanted in their brains. You'd think they could focus on the positive aspects of what the movie has to offer, lol. And I didn't know that about the books, Zeta. :o When I found out that the original movies where written directly for the script, and that the books were written later by someone else, I just assumed the same thing would be true with these new ones.
  13. Oh, come on now, lol. Pointy ears? Pointy lightsabers? Pointy dialogue? I think some of you are being pretty [strike]pointy[/strike] picky with this movie, which makes it rather difficult to even read these posts. >.o I just saw it for the second time last night, and I was just as pleased as when I saw it at the midnight showing last week. It's just such a cool movie, easily tearing apart the last two, but as Shin reminds me, that's not exactly a difficult feat. I know that a lot of people are calling it the best in the series (and apparently some are calling it the worst, but I?ll disregard that for the moment), and I do think that the movie?s quality rivals the original trilogy, but it really is such a completely different film that it?s difficult to compare. In the end, though.. as much as I love episode three, I?d have to give my supreme (uh oh, only a sith deals in absolute O.o) favorite to the originals. In my opinion, I felt that the actors did a much better job this time around, and their passion and confidence really showed through. Gone was Anakin?s more.. shall we say, angsty side, and he was able to play out a character worthy of becoming Darth Vadar. The dialogue really wasn?t that bad, either. In some respects, it was a bit paced out and didn?t feel quite like a Star Wars movie, but it was still alright and I enjoyed it for the most part. It wasn?t intended to be a movie set in modern-day where any of us could have easily been the characters portrayed, so you shouldn?t put it to such standards. In regards to the story, they really did a fantastic job, in my opinion. It was just so.. emotional, you know? So personal for all of the characters that they put their heart into it all, and I just eat up movies like that. lol My favorite part was probably the
Anakin/Obi-wan
fight, which I thought would be rushed and rather awkward to start, but it wasn?t at all.
The way Anakin was accusing Obi-wan of turning Padme against him was just beautiful, as was the way his vivid anger was portrayed.
Now for the parts that I didn?t like about the movie.
First and foremost, I was rather disturbed at how quickly Anakin turned to the dark side after pledging his allegiance to Palpatine, which went from him just wanting to do what he can to save Padme to losing self-restraint completely. After watching the movie a second time, I noticed that the emperor had told him that he must fully immerse himself in the dark side in order to cheat death, but something still felt a little off about the whole thing.
At some points during the movie, I?ll agree with some of you and say that it did seem like they were trying too hard to tie things into the next one. Some of the things they did were pretty cool and helped a lot, like
Obi-wan taking Anakin?s lightsaber away from the battle, the General Tarkin cameo, and the way that Darth Vadar got his suit, to name a few. But.. as much as I?d like to believe that putting the Death Star in there was a good idea, I don?t think it would have taken quite that long to build, yeah. Especially with being a ?new battle station? in A New Hope. The Chewbacca appearance was rather ridiculous, as well, and I thought it was kind of convenient that the only Jedi who didn?t die were Obi-wan, Yoda, and Anakin, but perhaps that?s the reason that we see them all in the future movies; we see them because there was no one left, anyway.
Which reminds me:
[spoiler']The Plan 66 deal was semi-believable, but I find it hard to believe that all of those very powerful Jedi Masters didn't get an inkling of what was going on, as Yoda did. I could see some, like Ki Adi Mundi, dying because he was vastly outnumbered, but Aayla Secura should have been able to defend herself. Additionally, I feel it a little unrealistic that Anakin was able to take out most of the temple. There surely were a good number of Knights and Masters present, defeating all of them seems highly implausible.

They actually were all outnumbered. Of the ones we saw, they didn't have any chance of escaping that many clones, especially not when they trusted them so much. The only way Yoda escaped was because he was only facing two troopers and his senses are most likely the strongest of the Jedi. Anakin had help with the temple, since he brought tons of clone troopers with him to dispose of the knights and masters.
Oh, and Zeta. Wasn?t the script and book written separately? As far as I know, George Lucas didn?t have anything to do with the books, which means he wasn?t really leaving stuff out. Overall, I really did like the movie. I?d give it an.. 8 or 8.5 out of 10. Did anyone else catch the Millennium Falcon landing near the beginning of the movie?
  14. The thing you really have to be carful with when finding random pictures of anime characters online is that they might not even be from a specific anime. In some cases, after searching a great deal and coming up empty-handed, you'll find that the picture was actually a fan art that someone drew from scratch. This particular image looks to have extraordinarily smooth shading, so I wouldn't rule out that possibility.. I wish you luck with your search, though. ^_^
  15.
visit my otaku site and you'll see my avi and background ^^
lol, is that some sort of shameless plug, or something? It would be good if you specified which character(s) you want in the banner and avatar, and if possible provide some pictures.

    a few sigs

Tigz, I wanted to remind you once again that you can only have one image in your signature at a time. The orange one does count as an image, yes. Btw, though, that last banner you put up is awesome. The colors work great and the blending is fantastic. ;)
  17.
I think they're really good :animesmil Wish I had photoshop, but I dont so I dunno. Keep up the work it's really good
Welcome to OB, Sesss. ^_^ Please note the sticky at the top of the forum dealing with constructive criticism. In the future, try to go a little more into detail about what you think is "really good" about an art piece, in order to help the artist out a bit. Thanks.
  18.
wow, how do ppl do that banner stuff? I've barely begun scanning and I thought THAT was high tech...Your banners look beautiful to me.
Welcome to OtakuBoards! ;) Here in the Art Forum, or really OB in general, we pride ourselves in quality posts. For this section, that means providing constructive criticism that helps the artist improve their talent or work at hand. You may use others posts as an example of what is expected, or refer to the sticky thread at the top of the forum. Thanks!

    Wii

Just a quick question or two from me. Since I really haven't heard otherwise, Revolution has become the official name now, right? I don't think they've ever taken on their code name before, so I'm curious. About these downloadable online games from previous systems, are all of them available free of charge? If so, there's no doubt that I'll be buying the system opening day. Oh, and these other revolutions, with the controller and "other thing." When are we supposed to hear about these? EDIT: How much do you know that you're not telling us, James? :p
  20. It's interesting that this thread has come up, since it's been a topic that I have been constantly reminded of this past month or so, heh. Well.. I suppose it would have been a bigger coincidence had it been created before last Friday, which was the date of my school's prom, when it seemed to be the bottom of every conversation. But yeah, I didn't go. I couldn't believe what a big deal everyone seemed to make of prom. This being my senior year of high school, there were tons of people asking me if I was going, and I quickly got tired of telling them the same thing over and over. I've always seen it as just another school dance, but with more hype; I had never gone to one before, so why start now? I guess you could say that it's become a part of American culture, something that's always going to be there that's for some people, and not for others. Referring to the discussion on conformists and nonconformists, I'd really rather not open up that can of worms because I can see already that it will be the death of this thread, haha. All I would like to say on the matter is that you should do what you want to do; you shouldn't do something just because others are, just as you shouldn't not do something just because others are. I don't see how you can rationalize either one to be better than the other. O.o There are plenty of reasons that I decided not to go to prom, and I'll list them here for those of you curious.

As I mentioned before, I've never gone to a dance before, so why make an exception?
I don't dance other than on a DDR pad. :p
There's no one that I have to or would want to go with, and forcing it would make things awkward.
I didn't really have many (any?) friends going.
Formality.
Rediculous expenses; ticket, tux, limo, dinner, and the girl sometimes expects you to pay for her as well.
Whether or not I go will not matter ten years from now, or even in the near future.
I feel that a lot of it is geared toward a different audience (I'm not trying to generalize for others, but many people that I found who were really excited to go were planning on spending the night getting drunk and acting stupid).
I'm not interested in the sort of music that they aparently usually play at dances, like rap or certain forms of techo. But especially those inevitable romantic ones, haha.
I could go to anime club instead.
Quite simply, I just didn't want to go.
I totally agree with you, Pumpkin, on your views of high school. Just one week until I'm out of this bs. :D Don't get me wrong; if you're going to prom, I have nothing against it and encourage you to have a lot of fun, heh. It just isn't my thing.
  21.
hi i'm 4rm america, i just have to say iz that i love anime drawings n i want to learn how to draw them so bad.
Hello, Angel, and welcome to OtakuBoards! If you look around the thread and rest of the forum, you'll notice that members generally put a little more detail into their post to help the artist improve his or her work. Please read this thread carefully for more information.
  22. Unfortunately, the links you provided don't work. It appears as if you're trying to link directly from your harddrive, so I'll remind you that you first need to get them online so others can view them. ^_^
  23. I think I'm just going to merge this with the old one. It's gone on this long, so might as well keep up with the tradition! ;) By the way, Sessshomaru, you can only have one image in your signature at a time, so I ask that you please remove the three that you like the least.
  24.
The third movie I felt did a good job showing the more mature side of Harry. The script might have been very comedic, but Harry himself was getting more serious and was even having murderous thoughts. Also, I wouldn't consider it a more kiddy movie either. I'd certainly think that any kid under 10 who hadn't read the books beforehand would be downright terrified of how they made the Dementors look (as seems to be the case in my experience with younger kids seeing the movie). But, going back on topic, yes, movie 4 looks awesome.
Well, like I said before, I don't remember all the specifics from the third movie, and true it might have been more serious than the previous two, but the books have always seemed more cynical than the movies. I'm not saying that either the books or movies are necessarily kiddy, but that this fourth film, from what they show in the trailer, will help to sharpen an outsider's perspective on the series. I'm sure you've all heard people criticize Harry Potter in general about being for little kids. :/
  25. ..wow. You know, I never really liked the Harry Potter movies. Obviously I've prefered the books over the films, but eh.. I think the movies have declined through their progression (a negative correlation, I believe, to the books), and if you asked me my favorite one I think I'd go with the first. A lot of people seemed to have enjoyed the third a lot, but I've only seen it once, never bought it, and sort of dismissed it rather quickly. The thing is, I can never keep myself from watching the movies, even though I know that they will somewhat ruin my interpretation of the book and whatnot, just because I've read the books and want to see someone else's perception of them. Despite the fact that the Harry Potter series remains my favorite books to date, and the only ones I really read for fun, my expectations for the movies have just about hit rock bottom. I got goosebumps from watching the trailer. O_o Based on the short clips that it did show, I can see that they've gone in a very mature direction with the film. Which is fantastic. The more cynical side of the Harry Potter series has always seemed to have gone underappreciated, underrated.. whatever it is has made it seem like it was put in a little kids category that it has long since evolved from in the books, but is still associated with when you mention the name anywhere. Oh ho, for once I'm excited about the upcoming movie. XD
