Concerning Furi Kuri and Bo however-many-it-is: the reason these shows are amazing is that they're not supposed to make any sense at all. I'd be willing to bet that all you people who hate them don't like Monty Python, either. :animesmil I hate anything Dragonball, but only because I can't go for hours on end laughing at drawn-out inanity. I would hope that if our world actually had Z-fighters, they would also have some brains. The show is just depressingly hysterical. Kind of like InuYasha, yeah. :p Edit: Oh yeah, and MÄR. A Naruto/Luffy/Goku-personality main character has this utterly pathetic pop-gun of a weapon that, oh wait, magically turns into the BFG 9001. (Which is over nine- thousand!!) This is supposedly due to his amazing imaginative capabilities, but I can't help but wonder why he wasted the first two forms of his ball-and-chain (literally) on a fist and a namby-pamby bubble gun if he could come up with a frikkin' Hyper Beam-shooting thirty-foot gargoyle upper body on a floating diamond. (This also begs the question: why didn't he just make an entire gargoyle?)

“Fine,” Nathan said, throwing up his scythe hand in exasperation. “I appear to have dragged this farce on for far too long. Neither of you know anything of what should concern you; and of what concerns me, you seem strangely unwilling to part with. Obviously I should have simply killed you both and been on my way.” “You arrogant son of a *****,” growled the short-haired man. “You won’t be the one doing the killing here.” He darted forward as he spoke, but instead of lunging he launched into a series of fast, controlled slashes, forcing Nathan to parry furiously. Nathan backpedaled a few steps, letting the vampire press forward; as the man slashed across his body, Nathan feinted and struck with the direction of the cut, and the vampire’s balance faltered. Nathan’s scythe slammed upward, and only the vampire’s instinct kept his head from being split open by its blade, which instead ripped a gash from his right cheek up through his eye. The woman was behind him; Nathan turned to block her strike and delivered a spinning kick to her chest, sending her reeling backwards. Coming around, he deflected the man’s thrust with his free hand and, grabbing his wrist, pulled himself hard into the vampire, plunging his scythe into the man’s exposed chest. The vampire froze, a shocked gasp choking in his throat. “Were you saying something just now?” Nathan asked sweetly. He spun his victim around to shield against any attacks by the man's partner, but she had frozen as well, watching the two men from a careful distance. The man choked again. A vicious twist on the scythe forced an agonized groan from him. “I could have sworn you were saying something,” Nathan continued. “I think it was really funny.” Another twist; veins stood out on the vampire’s face, and his facial wound began dripping blood. “Something about killing, I think it was.” Nathan glanced to the woman. “Is that what you heard?” The woman glared at him. “You swine,” she muttered. Nathan grinned nastily and tore his scythe free. He stepped casually to the side, and the vampire’s body fell to the floor with a dull thud. “Let me ask you something,” he said, looking at the fallen corpse. “Did you two do something stupid recently? Something that might have made certain people . . . displeased?” “I don’t know what you’re talking about,” the woman spat. Nathan gave her a sideways glance. “Right,” he said, raising an eyebrow. He turned to face her. “Well then, here’s a history lesson for you,” he continued, “since you seem to be so blissfully ignorant of your own kind’s past. “We weren’t your kind’s only enemies during the War. It took you people a long time to figure out how to work together, and even now it seems the lesson didn’t stick. You constantly fought amongst yourselves, and distrust was rampant between and even in your different factions, which were separated only by mere bloodline most of the time. “The vampires at the top didn’t take kindly to failure, and when a stepping stone like you screwed up, it was curtains, no questions asked. You were killed and replaced, which is why we didn’t have many problems with your kind at first. You exhausted your own resources, and barely had the manpower to fuel your fight against us. We didn’t even call it a war then,” Nathan scoffed, “we called it ‘situation control’. “What kept us busy between ‘situations’ were the public executions, the ones when the big guys decided they wanted to humiliate the condemned; or the covered-up killings, when troublesome vampires were disposed of without drawing attention to those who had ordered their demise. Those vampires were sent to us, to fight against us until they died. “That’s right,” he taunted, chuckling at her shocked expression as his words began to sink in. He started to pace slowly around her, like a cat circling its prey. “We were your executioners. We took care of your kind’s dirty work, of your loose ends. Your own people allowed us to practice on you, to use you as training dummies, as toys. Some of our victims became martyrs; others, barely remembered names. Some of you even won occasionally—though they were usually sent out for a second round some weeks afterward. Sooner or later, they all died. “Is that why you’re here, then?” Nathan pressed cruelly. “Some of the older vampires are still alive; did you fail them somehow, and are now being dealt with?” The girl’s eyes were glazed. “He didn’t—” she faltered. “Didn’t what?!” Nathan shot. “Didn’t tell you? You were given weapons deliberately forged against us; did you think this was going to be a cush job?” He paced faster, keeping her turning, harried and off-balance. “I don’t—” she stammered, her gaze darting from side to side. “He—” “He?” the shinigami demanded. “He? He Who?! Who ordered you here? Who is your master? Who sent you here to die?” The woman’s eyes rose and met his, and for a second he saw confusion and uncertainty there, and his step slowed. Then the window passed, her gaze hardening and her jaw setting in grim line. Nathan paused by the body of her partner. He looked at it for a second; it had fallen on top of the man’s weapon, pinning it under his chest, and Nathan stooped to retrieve it. With a weary smile, he shook his head and tossed the knife once gently, his breath passing tiredly through his teeth before he roared in frustration, hurling it full-strength at the wall. It buried itself blade-deep. “So be it,” he said. The woman had assumed a defensive stance, and Nathan eyed her scornfully over his shoulder as he spoke. “I would have killed you regardless, so if you still will not give me what I want, I see no need to prolong your mockery of a life.” “Come, then,” she retorted, her voice filled with defiance. “You may find me more difficult to slaughter than you did him.” –She speaks very well, Nathan noted silently. –Much better than her partner; is she really one of Victor’s? “Indeed?” he laughed, turning. “You think you can match me, a war veteran? I seriously doubt you understand what that means.” He grinned again. “But I suppose I can show you.” Drawing his scythe in front of him, he matched her stance; their gazes locked, they faced each other, motionless. After a long moment, the corner of Nathan’s mouth twitched. A split second later, the woman’s eyes grew wide in disbelief.

Oh, be quiet, you buggered impatient people. I'm being lazy right now. I'll post soon. Edit: Crap, guys, I just deleted the whole stinking thing. Spent half of the OSU-LSU game writing it, too. (Another SEC victory, boo-yah.) I'll do my best to re-create it before tomorrow evening.

Anime Songs that remind us of Anime series
Allamorph replied to onenuttytanuki's topic in Otaku Central
Odd, but Floodlights [Lunar / Hybrid Awaken] for Eureka 7, even though it technically isn't a song, having no lyrics. Also, "I Wish I Had An Angel" [Nightwish / Once] for Evangelion, mainly because of the rock organ part in the center, and not the angel references. I dunno; I can see stuff for that one. Along the same lines, "Planet Hell" [same album] for anything Gundam related. I think it'd make a good homage.... -
I just can't get into that... can't see myself making an interesting character out of it.
Try it. You might find out it's not all that different. :animesmil I think I mentioned the different players bit before, and I still think it wouldn't be a bad idea. If you think you could get enough, go for it. I may or may not. Depends on how my schedule shakes down.

Oi.
Please don't call me names. Instead of getting offended, just consider what I say.
She did. Trust me. It was pretty inane. And if someone calls you names, deal with it. Don't be the sniveling retard that "politely" asks not to be called names right after throwing veiled derogatory statements. I hate having to mentally label people like that.
I'm not trying to be insulting.
Indeed?
Ok, so in your ideal world, killing should not be illegal, because it's based on a moral bias that people should have the right to life. All laws are based on bias and some morality, whether it is yours or mine or someone else's. Some people believe that they are superior to others and therefore have more rights and the right to kill others. You are assuming too much and not looking more logically at this.
This is not only a gross overextension of her argument, but also an attempt to throw the mantle of illogic back to her. Very insulting. Killing?or more precisely, murder?is illegal based on the moral bias that people have a right to life. It's like an extreme version of theft; you as a murderer have taken a life that does not belong to you. I understand what you were attempting to say, but you picked the complete wrong example to do so, and in doing so only showed that your reasoning was flawed. If you think now to look at the death sentence as a glorified form of murder for rebuttal, think again. One who has committed murder has stolen a life, and they must repay their theft. Since life cannot be restored under any circumstances, the murderer's life is forfeit so the debt can be filled. If the murderer's life is spared, it is mercy. If not, it is fair justice.
This is my point. I used an extreme example to show why your reasoning was flawed. You are STILL assuming people have the right to life, and STILL assuming consent is necessary.
Overextension. She said consent was a factor; she said nothing about its necessity.
If anyone is assuming anything, it is you.
I think you realized your overstep there, as evidence by:
Of course I'm making assumptions, but so are you. So is everyone else.
But this is a cop out. Allow me to use one of your extreme examples. She jumps off a cliff, and everyone else jumps off a cliff..... :animesmil Just because others are assuming does not rationalize nor authorize you to do so. Your argument there was wasted breath.
I can and will voice my opinion of prostitution and what should be done about it.
True. And you do. But do not degrade the original issue, which in her (and Rachmaninoff's) case was only with the clarity of your post here. You seemed to take their confusion as a direct attack on you, and it was not so. I also wish to know what the devil you meant, because I have not yet seen any posters indicating that they feel prostitution necessary. Don't defend. Clarify.
I hope what I stated above makes things clearer for you.
I hope you take her advice, because from the tone and direction of your posts thus far, it does not appear that you have yet done so.
I didn't say you said "we should or couldn't do anything." I'm saying your line of reasoning inevitably leads to that conclusion. You see nothing wrong with using one assumption and not the other because you have designated yourself the arbiter to what assumptions are acceptable and which ones are not. Do you see why that's messed up? You can't dismiss what I say simply because it's based on assumptions, because what you say is too. That is the point I've been trying to stress.
Indeed? Although I understand that you are attempting to prove that setting precedent would eventually lead to a hands-tied system, your intermediate steps are hidden from me, and so I cannot currently agree with you. Spell out your logic?and by "spell" I mean in finite detail, as if you were rationalizing every step of a mathematics proof?so that I may follow it.
This makes no sense. Of course I can claim equal burden of proof since neither party can prove their claims. That's what it means!
Perhaps you should brush up on your knowledge of reasons for entering prostitution. They run the gamut, from forced labor to a means to make money to an escape from typical occupations to a history of sexual abuse to an attempt to shame one's parents. Some were raised in the lifestyle. There have been several instances of research done on the subject, even extending to Victorian women. While I agree that there is equal burden of proof, I sense that you used it more to escape having to prove your own argument, instead of advocating that she prove hers as well. I know hers can be. Can yours? From what I have seen of you so far, you rely heavily on logical overextensions, emotion, and condescension to make your voice heard. This method in no conceivable way is beneficial to you, and only makes those you argue against less likely to even consider listening to you. I singled you out just now for this reason alone, though I have thoughts for others as well. I don't really mind if you feel the need to fight me on this, but I hope you at least take a step back and think before you do so. I sense you are capable of being a formidable opponent ... just not with your current habits. -A

Hee hee. :animesmil
First off, jaundiced refers to a method of glaring at someone with utter dislike and resentment. I had a good trouncing in mind, too. Pity....
In fact, I might even go so far as to argue an unattractive prostitute is even more resourceful in that she manages to use her sub-par looks to still accumulate wealth.
I think that's more due to a large number of (possibly as unattractive) males who are not overly scrupulous with whom they have sex. :animesmil My views? Let's put it this way: what you do in your time is your problem, not mine. As long as you keep me out of it, I'm indifferent.
I live in Alabama;
I feel for you. I resolve to buy Christmas presents before November 18.
I personally believe the opposite of love is actually indifference.

I think that many people fail to realize that love and hate are not mutually exclusive emotions, it is easy and common to hate someone you love.[/B'] It is impossible to be truly indifferent to someone you love (or hate for that matter).
I'm going to have to call a solid No on that. See, while you do bring up the rather good point that indifference is neither love nor hate, the bolded statement is using the version of "hate" most commonly used (or should I say "bandied about") in present day casual conversation to express common distaste. I would even argue that it is impossible to hate someone or something you love, as well as its reverse. I return to the previous example of my sisters. I cannot hate them. I can be aggravated with them, I can be explosively angry with them, I even be enraged to the point of violence at them; but I cannot hate them, because I love them. If I hated them, there would be no boundaries to what I might do to them given sufficient motive and the opportunity. However?and I assure you I am being perfectly honest here?I cannot cause them more than superficial harm without emotionally damaging myself. (By superficial here I mean something like a noogie or a slap on the back.) It is easy and common to dislike someone you love, and to speak of it as "hate" simply as a synonym. However, to truly hate them is impossible. Indifference, on the other hand, is simply the lack of either one of these to any degree at all.

I Forgot What You People Look Like (Image Heavy)
Allamorph replied to 2010DigitalBoy's topic in General Discussion
I try not to post in here?mostly because I doubt I'll ever contribute anything?but I saw ssj chic back on page 19, and, umm....
...holy hell.
-
I tried to discuss this with everyone in charge and got the run around for three days, enough to annoy anyone.
I can't imagine what kind of hell that must have been for you. Personally, I would have simply waited for James' response before I went and tried to raise a ruckus. If your attempts spanned three days, though, it doesn't seem like you waited very long at all before trying the next person in line. I believe in the same position I would have waited at least a week and a half, out of courtesy. After all, that article had already been there a while; a few more days would have hurt nothing. Glad we're all good and happy now.
I really hope they have a much better screenshot'ing mode. I hated Melee's a lot.
-
Therefore the next logical choice is to discuss this with the people who are suppose to be in charge of the site in their abscene.
Spelling. Not professional. Anyway, James is not to my knowledge absent. He has been quite active around here lately; a quick check of his posts would confirm that much. But that's of relatively little importance. I don't see the current action you've taken as garnering anything for you but distaste. The situation is between you, James, Charles, Adam, and possibly the article's author?though even that last one might be going a bit far, since the articles submitted to Otakupedia were subject to review by all those involved with its creation and maintenance. You yourself said that "this is an issue that must be resolved between both sites Administrators", so I fail to see what you hoped to accomplish by starting the thread in the first place...unless it was to either cause humiliation to the director/administrator or to attempt to "scare him out of hiding", as it were. Bringing up your private grievance publicly only shows open contempt for the members of the boards in general, and cannot work to your advantage by any stretch of the imagination. Were I in the position to do so, I would close the thread now. I would not do so because I felt you had violated any rules on the forum (which you to my knowledge have not) or from any personal malice towards your person (since I was not around when these incidents occurred and have not developed feelings either way on the matter), but instead in order to prevent you from doing further injustice yourself, because I only see your attitude deteriorating into impatience.
I'm simply requesting that this issue be resolved. If that bothers you then I apologize, as I have been very paitent and cordial with everyone, even those who have indeed acted rather harshly and rude to my coming here to discuss this.
Thus far I have only seen Raiha show any form of aggression, and from what I have observed her post is not out of character and should be taken somewhat more lightly than it feels. All of the posters have offered you their opinion on the matter, and some have brought up ways to go about achieving your resolution. If you dislike their answers, that is your opinion, and you are entitled to it. You said yourself, once again, that you posted this issue in a discussion forum, and discussion is what you have received. However, if it seems to you?as it seems to me, and as I agree?that the proffered solutions are all identical, then perhaps it is not because anyone is trying to be harsh or rude, but that there is basically only one channel for you to go through. As I see it, you have neither been patient nor cordial. You have exposed your impatience by making public an issue that the public cannot resolve, and each of your posts to the thread have been more and more negative, with only the barest film of diplomacy covering your feelings. I will also remind you that opinions on either side of this argument cannot be portrayed as truth. Simply having an opinion that the article in question is unprofessional and/or defamatory does not guarantee that the same is true. By the same token, it does not mean that it is false. Your opinion is only an opinion, and you must be able to substantiate it. Pertaining to your claim that your image was used without your permission, I ask you a question: did you post either or both of those images on a public site at any time; and if so, did you mark them as copyrighted material? Pertaining to your claim of defamation of character: can you prove that the article was written with malicious intent? I ask these questions to spur your mental processes, so that you do not make a fool of yourself. I ask them objectively; as of now, I have taken no side. On a personal note, I'd like to comment that you sound very much like a Borg.
Failure to comply to a quick resolution with this, will force me to take the next step.
Granted, you are a rather vague Borg, but a Borg nonetheless. :p -A

Anime Cartoon Network Line-Ups...and anime on television announcements
