Also everyone here is terrible at answering polls.
You're giving the internet a fair shot at influencing the future of a person about whom it knows very little. I don't think our survey skills are the item in need of consideration, here. :p

I have now spent a total of five-sixths of an hour attempting to figure out how to extricate a small, highly vocal cat from inside of an unknown (and thus far unreachable) person's Nissan Altima engine. Between me, a few other bystanders who happened to think they were insane until they saw me (the actually insane guy) lying flat on his back shining a key-chain LED light under the hood, and the campus police, we exhausted every option save jacking the car up and going at it from the bottom, and it's now quarter after two in the morning. We ended up leaving a note under the guy's windshield wiper that reads "Do not start your engine; there is a cat under the hood!" I'm not satisfied, but I have a lab tomorrow and I don't trust car jacks without cinder blocks.
...I didn't even think dial-up still existed anymore. :animesigh
If that's true than I have no idea what Kei's been using these past few months.

I nominate post #2639 of this thread for next year's Nifty Fifty as the best post of the year. Just so it's inb4.

This is a Welcome In, Guys thread, not an angst thread. Everyone feel free to ignore any angst that's mistakenly posted in here. :animesmil

I should probably explain a bit more then, because really that's an added bonus (I feel) to doing it that way. The reason I write on paper is because that's how I grew up doing it. And then again I can take paper with me without having to worry about what to carry it in or startup time or battery life or hard drive failure or all sorts of stuff. I can also see an entire sheet of paper at once, and flip between pages really quickly if I feel like it, and it just generally feels more accessible and more free than straight typing does for composition/editing. Heck, when I do final edits for things I've got in a computer, I print it off and attack it with a red pen. :animesmil It's just easier to manage, I find, when I can see it right there, I can touch it, move it around, stuff like that. Also there's something very invigorating about scratching out two-thirds of an entire section of a page when you realise how badly it sucks.
I feel like I could never do this, just because the way I write I'd be constantly crossing things out and half the paper would probably just be scribbles.
That's how it usually ends up for me. Which is why after I finish I transcribe to the computer; gives me time to actually implement the edits I made, and forces me to go back through as if I didn't know what was on the page. Also your banner is borked.
So they can use this now and mean it literally?[/SIZE']
Yes. And also we get to throw each other into doors.
Well I have a puppy-dog, so there, you kitty, you.
I'm waiting for you to actually make a statement with merit. 'Til then I'm just gonna call you Fhqwgads. Speaking of puppies, though, my mother decided to torment me yesterday by sending me a text message about Husky puppies for sale, descriptions, and the phone number, when she knows perfectly well I have neither money nor a real home. This is why I didn't used to tell people about things I wanted until I was kinda sure I could manage it. Well-meaning info is well-meaning, but totally useless. Kinda like why window shopping is silly. (As opposed to browsing, which involves actually getting information that isn't really time-critical about interesting items and storing it for later use.) Also my roommate is apparently the kind of person who has to wake up once in the middle of the night to go relieve himself. Very disconcerting.
I wrote out a short story by hand recently and that kind of sucked, but it was old fashioned.
Most anything that I write and am taking seriously is handwritten. It just feels better to me.
Nah, he wouldn't. Who else would argue so courageously and foolishly as I do? 'S right. NOBODY.
Sorry, hun, I have someone else.
Really? I haven't talked to anyone who prefers to read long passages in anything but hard copy.
I was talking to a friend of mine about this just last week. He believes (and I concur) that books will never die out because not only is it easier for people who write to read stuff in segments like that (there are no bottoms of pages on the internet), but there's a big sensory stimulation from just the touch of the book itself, and sometimes from the smell. I have never known a scent quite so wonderful as the smell of an old book. Besides, laptops are inconvenient to curl up with. =P
Why does no one recognize the awesomeness that is JIGGLYPUFF?! WHY?! HMMM?!
That is a bold and probably rather erroneous generalisation to make. Come to think of it, you seem to be The Best at making those. :p
OH, I thought you meant Norton Juster's story was an attempt at it. And I was about to kill you. :)
Actually, book titles are usually put in quotations marks by newspapers and magazines, although they are italicized in academic papers. And then MLA format dictates that students underline them...I think.

Haha, of course not. It's one of my favorite books of all time; I would never insult Juster in such a way. (Although, really, it was an attempt at it, and he happens to have succeeded because he knew what the frick he was doing.)
And the basic gist of that is that no one can agree on anything, so as long as the concept is communicated we're all fine. =D

What do you mean, "try"?
Also book titles are underlined, not italicized and underlined.

Most people who "try" to write stories of that nature "fail miserably" because they can't balance "poignant subtlety" with an "actual message".
Also book titles are italicised in most printed material because underlining is impractical; I do both because on here doing one or the other looks retarded and doesn't communicate what I want it to.

The Phantom Tollbooth was such a great book. Kids take to the imagination part of it, and there is so much allegory in it that will fly over their heads until they get older. Perfect example of how to try to write pointed stories. Also I want to eat letters sometime. =P

Roast beef, ham, and turkey all on the same sandwich is much tastier than it should legally be allowed to be. Cajun mayonnaise makes it a felony. Also this is funnier than it should be, while we're on the subject. Also I prefer the Indigo layout. Makes it so I'm not constantly staring at a blazing white screen so much.
now i am just wondering why the hell i posted it...
No you're not. In other, pertinent random thought news, audition results for the next semester of bands on our campus are up, and I am in the top ensemble. Ironically, this has now made my schedule more difficult. I now have a choice between stacking two classes in each others' time slot or taking a ninety-minute class at eight in the morning. Sigh.

I, on the other hand, find the statements entirely out of character and remain unconvinced of the poster's sincerity. aka That ain't usual for someone to just up and say.

I would like to clarify something in regards to Gymo's query. I have not indicated at all that there are humans with innate psychic abilities in large concentrations anywhere in my posts so far. What I did reference in my first post was the fact that Sabrina is the leader of a gym specialising in Psychic-type pokémon, from which I noted that Saffron has an unusually larger concentration of psychic energies than anywhere else, really. Although I believe my wording (I haven't looked) had something to do with brainwaves, surely it is generally accepted that pokémon have brains as well. =P Also, Saul is not telepathic. He is still required to speak to be understood by anyone around, so I apologise if I made it seem otherwise. As far as pokémon go, my response would be to consider the matter carefully, and if having that critter use telepathy to communicate would require highly specific circumstances then I would advise not going that way. For instance, I reasoned the telepathy of Ninetales because in the past they have demonstrated an acuity for psychic abilities (and can learn some moves of that type in the games). Celebi, on the other hand, I probably consider incapable of telepathy. Empathy at the most?which would make sense, what with her being the Guardian of the Forest and what. Basically, think about it a bit. Whether you want it and whether it would be good are not mutually exclusive, but they aren't the same thing, either. =P Edit:
I wasnt questioning which would be more practical, usefull and overall a much better idea... I was questioning the "rebelions" controll over the entire population of a town that surly must have some dissidents, I am just saying why do they even have the ability to controll anyone
"Control" of a town means that the Powers That Be are able to dictate actions and force compliance. However, just because the Leaders opposing the Leage at this point aren't exerting control over their towns doesn't mean that the citizens don't generally look up to them. After all, if the Mayor of your city came on the television and the radio and advised the people that a disaster was imminent and informed them the safest place to stay, the majority of the people in your town (who heard the announcement) would act accordingly. In this specific world, the Leaders have the advantage of being able to go around to the townspeople and offer to assist them in temporarily relocating to a safer location, which provides them the added opportunity to prompt those with battle-ability into joining?though I doubt Morty would allow strongarm recruiting. Basically it's just a case of considering how things usually operate and translating that to the current environment. And it's not stupid to not think to do that. However, it isn't all that a great idea to get short-tempered when your ideas are continually shot down. Can't learn much of anything without being wrong first, you know.
