This isn't a warning to people who've already been doing it. Anything of that nature either is being dealt with or is in the process of being prevented. This is a warning about doing it at all. Future tense. As in: do not work your knowledge of the game and environment to your character's advantage, whether it be giving them uncanny premonitions and adaptive abilities, or scripting events to further your character's ambitions or health, or playing your character (or other characters) against how you (or another player or the GM) have stated they behave. Really, though, I don't know how much more clear "play smart" could have been....
-
The tricky thing about this situation is that you have to be careful how to balance good advice with knowledge that'll irrevocably change your experiences and therefore your personality, rendering your mission of warning/insight nonexistent. You end up getting stuck in an infinite loop. Causality is fun!

5150 â??You look awfully thoughtful.â? Isen glanced at her partner, who was regarding her with a raised eyebrow. With a snort, she rolled her eyes. â??Can I not permit myself a private thought?â? she inquired. â??No.â? Nathan smiled happily. The werecat shook her head. â??The assassin allows the Marked One command over others. I was merely ... considering this fact.â? â??Jealous?â? Isen ignored her partnerâ??s needling smirk. â??I need no status to sooth my ego,â? she said simply. â??It is just a passing curiosity.â? She sent Nathan an arch look to indicate the topic was closed. â??Whatever,â? Nathan surrendered. He made a wry face and slid through the door to his apartment. â??I was justâ??HOLY CRAP PIE!â? Nathan intercepted the pastry projectile with a sudden jerk, gingerly sweeping it around himself in several dexterous passes and one hand-switch, and slid it onto the bar on his left. â??Should have joined the Globetrotters,â? chuckled Chris, leaning on the armrest of his couch across the room. Her expression darkened. â??We need to talk.â? Nathan started. â??About pie?â? â??No,â? Chris said, â??about the kids.â? Nathan looked confused. â??They donâ??t like pie?â? he asked. â??No!â? his sister exclaimed. â??Weâ??re not talking about pie!â? â??Whatâ??s wrong with pie?!â? Chris reappeared beside him and belted him with a cushion. â??Good Lord,â? she said as he picked himself off the floor. â??One track mind.â? â??Three point one four one,â? retorted Nathan, throwing up his arms to ward off another whack. â??Ack! I surrender!â? Chris ignored him, pummeling mercilessly. -------------------------------- The pillow fight over, Nathan sat in the chair across from his chess set, industriously removing the dents from his hat. For a brief second he caught himself wishing the French vampire were around to share a match, and immediately chastised himself for such weakness. â??So you wanted to talk about...,â? he prompted. Chris nodded. â??Escalation.â? When she was satisfied she had her brotherâ??s attention, she continued. â??Itâ??s the typical way war works,â? she said. â??A guy bullies you, you either find a bigger guy or improve yourself, or else you have to take it. One side comes out with more guns, the other comes out with a bigger gun. You kill someoneâ??s brother, he kills your family, you kill his village.â? â??Youâ??re telling me this like I donâ??t already know it,â? said Nathan. â??No, Iâ??m telling you this to remind you that you do know it and are ignoring it.â? Chris toyed with a dagger. â??They know who we are now. They know exactly who we are, and they know weâ??re coming after them. What do you think their next move will be?â? The blue man looked skeptical. â??You saying I should be worried? Like we canâ??t handle what they throw at us?â? â??No,â? Chris sighed, â??Iâ??m saying you should be worried about the kids.â? â??Seems like I just had this conversation....â? â??Whatever they throw at us we can probably handle,â? Chris went on, staring her brother down. â??But whoâ??s to guarantee that theyâ??ll take their big guns and shoot at us? What happens if Alex gets caught in-between? Or Phaidra?â? â??So, what, then? You want us to run for cover and wait for this to blow over?â? â??Thatâ??s not what Iâ??mâ??â? â??No, that is what youâ??re saying, Chris,â? Nathan spat. â??And itâ??s not gonna happen. What will happen is weâ??ll make sure the kids donâ??t get caught in something they canâ??t handle, and in the meantime weâ??ll be making sure they can handle it!â? â??Youâ??re missing the point, Nathan.â? â??The hell I am! Iâ??m not about to start tiptoeing around just because my enemy might try harder to kill me!â? â??Not might, Nathan. Will.â? â??Whose side are you on, here?!â? â??Whose do you think, Nathan,â? interjected the werecat from the kitchen. â??Trey was my friend first, Nathan,â? added Chris. The shinigami stared at the girls for a long moment, unable to form words. â??You have no idea,â? he said at length, his voice cold. â??None. Donâ??t even talk about him to me.â? He replaced his hat. â??Now if youâ??ll excuse me Iâ??m going to go be productive somewhere.â? -------------------------------- Isen waited until after her partner had left to speak again. â??Did you really want to rile him so badly?â? she asked. Chris sighed. â??I donâ??t know,â? she said. â??Iâ??m just trying to make sure he doesnâ??t go and do something rash. Heâ??s right about the kidsâ??he said nothing to Gavrie tonight that I didnâ??t agree withâ??but I can still feel the resentment deep down, and itâ??s making him arrogant and short-sighted. I donâ??t think he understands our fight as well as he thinks he does.â? â??In what way?â? â??Um.â? Chris gestured to the chess board on the table. â??Like, take this. My brother is one of the best strategists I know, and his ability at the game shows it. He knows how everything moves together, and can see how an opponent is thinking far ahead of time, sometimes even before the other person has decided to think that way. â??But a lot of the time he canâ??t see the same for real life stuff. He never got into political machinations, and doesnâ??t have a lot of guile. And as a result he often canâ??t see how people are moving when he canâ??t see them directly. Iâ??m just afraid the Jian are going to try something that he wonâ??t be looking for, and then I donâ??t know how heâ??ll take it.â? â??I see,â? said the werecat. â??Still, you also know how sore he is concerning his mentorâ??s death.â? â??I had hoped that time would have taken an edge off it,â? Chris admitted. â??I didnâ??t think heâ??d hold onto the grudge for this long.â? â??It is a daunting task to keep him calm sometimes,â? Isen remarked. â??Fortunately, I have had a long time to practice.â? Chris glanced up sharply, but saw nothing on the werecatâ??s face. â??I guess I see your point,â? she said slowly. â??But weâ??ll see, right?â?

For clarification, it has been indicated several times that Ninetales possess some degree of psychic ability. Yasha herself is unable to utilise any abilities in combat, since her talents are almost strictly tele-/empathic; Saul relies on her as a translator for his other pokémon, since very few pokémon are actually capable of producing intelligible sounds. (So, for example, Seviper doesn't ever say "seviper" or anything. It just hisses. And thinks to itself.) Whee, creepy Saffron stuff.

A sudden jab to the ribs jolted Saul awake with a snork, his notepad and bag tumbling to the floor in an embarrassing ruckus. The warm, comfortable sensation that had slowly wrapped itself around him fled, and he sighed, bending over to scoop up the jumble of papers and notebooks that had for once been carefully organized and stuff them back into the rawhide sidebag. His field glasses he treated with more care, inspecting them on all sides to make certain nothing was chipped or broken. Then he frowned at the Ninetales. â??Stationâ??s aheadâ?? she told him, continuing to gaze out of the monorail-carâ??s window. Saul gave her a hard look. Shaking off the last remnants of his nap, he turned to watch the scenery as well. Outside, the speeding landscape was rapidly changing from rolling grassland to the suburban sprawl of Saffronâ??s outskirts. He welcomed the view; a year and a half doing field research in Hoenn seemed to have flown by, and lately he had found himself yearning for the familiar sights of Kanto and his home near Viridian. He expected Ra was counting the hours until his arrival, though the Persian would never admit it. â??Happy to be home again?â? he asked his companion. The large fox nodded. â??The sooner the betterâ?? â??Homesick too?â? Saul had thought to elicit a grin from her, but to his surprise she gave her head a grave shake. â??Something feels strangeâ?? Saul looked out the window again; the bullet train had just passed the city border. â??In Saffron?â? he pressed, curious. â??Saffron always feels funky. I think itâ??s all those Psychics in the same area; messes with the brainwaves,â? he added, but the Ninetales shook her head again. â??Iâ??ve been feeling it ever since we arrived in Goldenrodâ?? she told him. â??The atmosphere is dark, and itâ??s distracting meâ?? She paused. â??Is that...?â?? â??...yeah, I think it is,â? finished Saul. â??Saffronâ??s under lockdown.â? - - - - - - - - - - - - - - He was right. Saffron Station was crawling with the crimson and black uniforms of Sabrinaâ??s gymâ??though Saul thought they looked strangely militaristic, more than he rememberedâ??and the bullet-trainâ??s passengers were being funneled out of the station and into waiting lines for busses. A quick question to a nearby gym member revealed that the busses were headed out to the surrounding cities until civilian traffic ceased. Saul had apologetically put the Ninetales back in her ball before disembarking. Yasha had offered token protest, but Saul had convinced her that movement would be far easier with only one person, and promised as soon as he felt clear enough to bring her back out. Now he was glad of his decision; as he stood in one of the many lines his professional instincts were all focused a way out. There was a story somewhere close, and he couldnâ??t go after it with someoneâ??s eyes constantly on him. He just needed a distraction, if only for a few seconds.... Off to his left, a boy in a line slowly merging with his own was happily bouncing a painted ball. Saul noticed a couple of guards surreptitiously keeping pace with the child, every now and again eyeing his toy with what Saul thought to be distaste and annoyance. As the lines converged, Saul also watched him, shifting his weight lazily from one side to another, moving around as if impatient the closer the child came. When he was within reaching distance, he turned around to view the back of the line, stepping ever so slightly across the way. The ball struck the edge of his shoe and shot backwards between the lines; with a shriek the child gave chase, his mother and the guards immediately darting after him, and Saul melted into the gawkers breaking line order and slipped out, ducking into an alley between buildings. He didnâ??t turn around until he got to the end of the alley, where he risked a furtive glance over his shoulder for any signs of pursuit, then quickly navigated a series of back roads and crossings to get closer to the Saffron Gym, which he suspected was now some sort of central command place. The town had been almost completely evacuated, so his movements were unimpededâ??although he missed the natural cover pedestrians provided. The sound of a motor pulled him up short, and he ducked back into shadows as a large, ungainly garbage truck trundled past. Saul waited a moment, then stepped out again to take stock of his location. He had emerged near the back corner of the gym, and from the looks of it his instinct had been right. The fighting dojo had apparently been evacuated and was currently in use as a makeshift garage, and uniformed messengers hurried back and forth between the Gym and Silph Tower. Saul was about to risk a closer look when an object tapped against his foot. To his surprise, the item was a dingy, scuffed pokéball that appeared to be occupied. An imperceptible layer of grunge coated itâ??which Saul noticed after picking it upâ??and he groaned in disgust, wiping it off on the side of his trousers. But the presence of the item confused him. There were no markings on the ball to indicate a childâ??s pet, nor did it seem to match any trainer numbers he had stored in his dex. He cast about to see where it might have rolled from. Nothing immediately caught his eye nearby, but as he looked farther away his eyes drifted over another garbage truck behind the old fighting dojo. A flash of color caught his eye, and he looked back in time to see the last of the dumpsterâ??s contents sliding into the truckâ??s holdâ??and pokéballs showering out amid the refuse. Saul stared at the ball in his hand. â??What on earth...?â?

*sigh* Okay. The reason we terminated a player five posts into the game was not just because of content issues. Among other things, it was primarily because that player took it upon theirself to craft a a significant story motivator into the game without checking their idea with us first, and the idea that they had ran so completely against what we've got happening that, really, the best way to fix it was with a lunch for an Arbok. Please, develop your own ideas. We want you to have your own ideas. They make the game fun. But we also need you to talk to us. We don't want you sitting there on a little plot egg all your own, waiting for the right time, and then something happens in the game and you go "man, I really wanted to go this direction" because there's no way we can know about your secret ideas and therefore no way we can accommodate them. I can totally understand the desire to just pop something out one day and be all like BAWWW and the rest of us be all like OMGWTFBBQ SO COOL. I love doin' it myself. But Kei and I have our hands in everything in this world. So if you get that cool BAWWW idea, you have to come to us to make sure it's not going to conflict with anything. And often, I'll see the merit of the idea right away and try to figure out a way to make it work if it doesn't currently work at present. But I can't do that if you've got it buried. Like, I can't make this any clearer, guys. We need communication. And for all of you who've already been talking with us, thank you so much. (And thank you, Korey for being so patient. :p) We want everyone to have as much fun as possible, and we'll work to help you have it. But you go off half-cocked solo and I can't guarantee what'll happen. :animesmil So in essence, CaNz, talk with us about stuff. We're usually on AIM evenings. Edit: Ace: Team Rocket is for Team Rocket. That's about the long and short of it.
(Please note, though, Timber, that Sinnoh is currently extremely isolationist and has been for years, so you would be extremely hard pressed to get even within glancing distance of the island.)[/size']
Or, really, even know what a Glaceon is.

Trust me, I did not want to even be thinking about removing players before everyone's even had a chance to post. It's not pleasant to have to do in the first place, so the timing only made it worse. Now, for clarification, Kei is right. Both of us are understanding on the matter, and we hardly expect the players to hold themselves to Puritan standards. However, my earlier statement stands. Not only that, but I also refuse to understand using profanity as a crutch. A copious stream of profanity is not the only way a player can communicate anger on the part of a character. Not only does such writing make participation less enjoyable for other players who have to wade through it, but constant use of it is numbing; and when a player who overuses profanity later posts where such content would otherwise have been well-placed, the effect is totally ruined. I urge you all, then, to listen very carefully to the characters you use, both PC and NPC, and if it is absolutely imperative that a character talk coarsely enough to make sailors wince, then I will completely understand. But if dialogue is scripted that way simply because you said "ehh, I hear regular people talk like this all the time, it should be pretty normal", then that is no longer that character talking. It's you talking. Moving on to other announcements, Raiha is no longer with us. (I believe Kei indicated to me that she was taking care of that angle story-wise?) However, Darren will be joining the party shortly; his character is currently heading up a slightly hush-hush excavation near Ecruteak and will probably be caught in the crossfire soon, so Korey, Indi, have fun with that, and make sure you three get to talkin'. I plan on tossing something up with Saul later today.
-
I'm only going to say this once. This game is a realistic game. This game is also a casual game. And there is a markéd difference between profanity for effect and self-gratuitous vulgarity. If any of you choose to remain under the delusion that posting dialogue straight out of a college frat house is in any way entertaining, you can leave right now. I am already in a foul temper at having to axe a player five posts into the game. I do not want to axe any more. That is all.

Patience, girl. I had other obligations today, wanted to clear them out of the way before I tackled this. Right, so here's a quick rundown of current movements, by leader

Morty ? Indi, Korey; The war is starting, and Bugsy is descending upon your leader. You two get to start his attack and work that angle right off. Indi, congratulations, you're a Candy Striper, and Korey will probably be a small squad leader.
Misty ? Raiha; Misty and crew are pretty well stuck on top of Saffron and Vermilion, so I imagine the atmosphere is pretty tense. As of now, Morty hasn't sent out word of the attack, so basically you're stuck with introductory stuff and playing with that tension a bit.
Flint ? RedJ, CaNz; At the moment, your leader is outside or Cerulean City, making plans and getting ideas in the Caves. So you have two options: either you're with him surveying or you're back in Pewter holding down the fort. And Raiha, if you want to be Misty's representative on site, go for it.
Claire ? Ace, Sangome, SunfallE; Claire is also getting nervous, so she's tightening up defenses at the moment. She's issued a mass recall to anyone she has abroad (which is a good bit) unless they have orders otherwise. She also might be the first aware of what's going on just over the mountains. We'll play that one by ear.

Falkner ? Gymo; Violet City's leader doesn't quite yet know what Bugsy is up to, so you get to watch him making war preparations. I think I already talked to you about some conflict.

TBD ? Miss Anonymous; Not really sure what you get to do just yet, aside from intro stuff. Kei and I might have an idea or two here shortly, so we'll get with you.
All right, I think that's everyone. (Fwoof, that's a load of places to keep track of.) If I didn't mention you, you're not cleared to post yet, but you still have until the end of the week to get our okay. Let's get started!
One could say that the spirit of the divine has chosen Beth's character. Not the other way around. And as such Beth's character is more owned by the Celebi than the other way around, so in essence, Beth's signed up as Celebi toting around a human just for giggles.[/FONT']
Yeah, but that feels contrived and fanfiction-y. According to a quick bit of research I did, apparently the only legendary ever to submit to trainer control (discounting nefarious purposes; and each of those cases was soon remedied) was an Articuno, and the trainer who controlled it was extremely skilled.
-
SunfallE, welcome in. Good to see you. However, I have to point out that Celebi is considered a legendary pokémon and is not actually obtainable (except in the games), so unless you can give us this absolutely massively awesome, stunning justification on how Allan gained control of the Guardian Spirit of the Forest, you'll have to replace that one. *chuckles*

Oh, and that reminds me. Anyone who thinks they can godmod will then get to see one or the other of us show you how it's really done. So you know. :p

Since a Dubious Disk is found in Sinnoh in the games, and Sinnoh is at present an extremely isolated region, even if Dubious Disks were produced and sold Sinnoh wouldn't ship them beyond borders. The only trade Sinnoh currently engages in is basic goods. So an evolution of Porygon2 early in the game is not going to happen, unfortunately. Down the road, we'll see. Also, realistically the Porygon family is capable of wreaking major havoc anywhere, regardless of the specific evolution. You already have the second one, so I would much rather you shy away from overpowering yourself too much early on. But like I said, down the road it might be possible. Keep it in the back of your mind, but for now, no. Also, I'd like to mention to the players in general, please don't focus so much on quick, rapid evolutions to get heavy hitters and what. Helps in the games, I know, but this ain't the games, and we don't really have a quantifiable finite way to say "this is when they evolve", so play smart and play well.
-
Remember, sign-ups will be remaining open until the coming weekend, so the box won't be locked right when the lights go on. Anyone still interested or still working with us behind the scenes, no pressure. You got time to be slipped in. weeee
