Ways To See If Your Boyfriend Is Not Straight
Allamorph replied to Raiha's topic in General Discussion
Post it. I wanna know. Far as I'm concerned, if a guy's reading anything to see the pretty girls, then not only is he a flagrant lecher, but he's also weird as all get-out. I mean, if you're just looking to window-shop then go sit on a stinkin' park bench already. Or hang out in a high-traffic area of a college campus. Or high school campus, since that's what most of those gals look like anyway. (I know. I tried reading them. And when my eyebrows had knitted together a certain amount, I left. *shudder*) On the other hand, if he's reading it for the pretty guys..... *sucks breath through teeth* ...yeah. Switch hitter. -
The confounding variable here is stress. A deteriorating economy causes stress levels to rise across the boards, and with high stress comes frayed tempers and conversations that devolve quickly into shouting matches . . . and other unpleasantries. People say and do very nasty, hurtful things when they feel pinned. Who knows? Maybe we'll see a rise in bandit packs in the near future.
Today's kids are too...squishy. They're too whiny, too soft.
Today's kids need to run around outside instead of being plopped in front of Mr. Babysitter Television and handed Mr. Pacifier GameBoy. On your other note, corporal punishment got a bad reputation because people who didn't know Jack Crap about raising kids abused it. Now we've got people who are too scared to use it because other people got the system to preach about how evil it is. "Only in moderation" don't apply to just alcohol.
If you aren't familiar with Twitter, it is one of those things, like MySpace, that sounds totally ridiculous and stupid when you first hear about it. But once you start using it, you realize how much fun it is. ?Eric Nuzum, Author of The Dead Travel Fast
Based on that, I'm assuming it's pretty dang pointless. 'Cause we all know how much fun Myspace is.
It figures this would be the day I forgot my headphones. And I'm not about to watch the first episode of the show mute.[/nerdspeak']
You mean muted. If you watched it mute you wouldn't be able to fangirl, at least not audibly. Because you'd be mute.
My taste buds must have been warped as a kid. :animedepr
Among other things. *smirk* I have severe reservations about vending machine pizzas. Then again, I also have severe reservations about public cafeteria pizzas, and I eat that pretty often. (I really wish the cafeteria here would stop menu-ing Asian food all the time. Something about the flavors bothers me.)

Oops. I misread the date. :p Other than that, if you can't get in it's probably something to do with your local connection. The chat service is very finicky about connections a lot of times; I can't get access to it when I'm downloading anything, and I spent a good deal of time unable to even access the system when it was first released. If the box doesn't load, there's not much you can do. Other than that, you'll have to tell us what exactly you're having trouble with, because just saying you need help isn't very specific. :(

For stuff that hasn't been mentioned yet: The Slackerz. Axel is correct. And actually, not only do we allow original works here, but I encourage original works over fan-fiction when I get the opportunity to do so. Welcome in, Meroko. Have some fun. :animesmil
I just want to drop this. I realize that I did something wrong....
No you didn't. You did something dumb. :p I think all mishaps like this could be avoided in the future by reading posts the whole way through and less prejudice on rankings. Around here, 'senior member' only indicates a member has posted a certain amount, and really nothing more. Except in Nerdsy's case. He had to balance upside down on one hand over an open can of green paint while drinking a Big Gulp in his other hand and juggling two cantaloupes, two honeydew melons and a coconut with his feet.
I'd certainly appreciate less attitude and more collegiality from moderators. Asking for the rationale behind a censoring decision should produce a thoughtful response, not an arrogant "that's the rules, period" cliche followed by even more bossy malarkey. We're not employed here, but we choose to spend time here; hence, a modicum of respect should be forthcoming from those who represent the Web site.
The main problem with the internet is that "attitude" is and will always be in the eye of the beholder. If a poster wishes to communicate attitude, that is one thing. But posters have no control over whether other members read attitude from their posts. In this light, it is usually good practice to assume someone responding to you is being courteous until it is succinct that they are not. Some of us on staff are terse, and say only what needs to be said. Others are not. I am can be both. I'm also very blunt. And I'm quite certain that you are overreacting to a falsely perceived slight. As far as rationale, the Forum Rules actually contain rationale for their existence, and so when a moderator tells you "we don't allow ______ here, it's the rules," you should . . . . probably feel behooved to read them. (Hence the link in blue.) In your case, the removal of the download link was rationalised by the statement that download links to copyrighted material are not permissible here. There's really no thought necessary, because the thought was already explained in the rules. I will be frank: my initial thought when reading your post was, "how can this member have already made this type of judgment after having been on the site for less than two weeks?" And after a quick check and an objective survey, I'm quite certain (again) that the incident was handled professionally. There was no attempt to interrupt the conversation to point out an error, no attempt to make a member feel miserable for making an error. The error was simply mentioned, corrected, and nothing more was thought about it. Furthermore, without providing any other instances for us to examine, you're essentially telling us that you've based your judgment of the entire staff of these boards off of one incident with one person, instead of watching and attempting to observe trends among individual staff members and the staff as a whole. With respect, that is hardly fair to anyone, including the involved moderator. So while it may seem insensitive, I suggest that your complaint against the entire staff is premature. As a complaint against one incident, however, I recommend attempting resolution through private messages.

Because of the Version Vibrant release at TheOtaku.com, the myOtaku system was largely put aside. It is still supported for those people who liked using it and didn't want to make the transition, but new members and members who hadn't activated it by the time Version Vibrant came out can no longer make a myOtaku page. The decision for this was most likely done to promote the World system, which is basically identical save that the worlds are harder to hack and rewrite (and face it, hacked myOs look freaking ugly), and the worlds are more closely integrated into the site itself.
Funny, I always pictured you as the Vulcan type Al.
If I'm half Betazoid, the other half is Romulan. :animesmil Also, I think the general flow of the conversation lately in this thread shows exactly how much we're concerned over the plight of poor English potbellies.
Al we all know you don't have sympathy[/B']...
Fix'd again. Whether or not I know what you're feeling (and sometimes I wonder if I'm part Betazoid :p) has no bearing on whether or not I choose to be merciful about it.

Ugh, I'm working on a sample, but I keep killing my free time with naps and friends and stuff. I'll see about getting one in tomorrow morning, or at least the evening. Also, I don't see Cephas as being part of the unit at present. Will we need to cook up a reason to transfer him in for support, or will he be taking on a kind of a "see me when you need me" role?
