I know that the biggest problem anyone has with running these sorts of events is lack of voters so I'm going to try and vote on every single one.
Tell me about it. I'll be doing my voting on Monday.
If you look at our digestive system and especially our teeth we are more vegetarian than carnivore.
And if you look really closely you suddenly notice a distinct omnivorous nature to the human digestive system. We weren't designed to eat just meat or just veggies. We were designed for both. Fortunately our systems don't seem to break down when one or the other are omitted, or vegetarians would be up a creek. (Of course, we wouldn't have to deal with Vegans then, but eh. I like my sane vegetarian friends, thank you.) Responsible people (or people not in college) are able to monitor and balance their diet so that they do not end up eating exclusively one or the other. I mean, just like eating hordes of pizza will wreck your body and probably turn you into El Gordo, and eating loads of sugary foods will set you well on your way to becoming Mr. Diabeetus the Walrus, if you only eat lettuce every day, you're gonna waste away. And heck, as much as I love a good sirloin, sometimes you just gotta have that salad.

Manga Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle [Warning: Spoilers]
1: Foolish Replica Syaoran is... on the side of good now?
I think he's been 'on the side of good' since Cherry B. dissolved against him. The wake-up-call expression on his face was pretty clear to me.
The only thing that really concerns me about this is what may possibly happen to Syaoran and Sakura. I mean, that's a serious blow he took from Fei Wang in the end and if he dies... Well, I mean, yes, it would be sad, but would it have any other implications we don't know about?[/color']
I have a feeling this is how CLAMP ended up dealing with the clone issue. They already erased the Sakura clone, and now Syaoran (the clone) is probably going to disappear as well. I'm more interested in what the original kids' true names are, myself. I think when that's revealed, it'll be quite telling. -
Manga Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle [Warning: Spoilers]

Yup, totally right. Clever execution; I was wondering how he pulled it off. Also, that was some major big-*** spell that clone-man threw there at the end. Lured Mastah Reed right out of his li'l protective bubble-shield to take it full force. I wanna see. =3 -
Article. Wow, £110m. That's equivalently almost $160.5 million dollars for the next President of the United States to take his oath of office. ...and host massive balls, and provide massive-screen televisions for the masses who can't even get close enough to see Mr. Obama as a speck across the way, and so on and so forth. Cripes, let's just host the Super Bowl on the President's lawn, why don't we? :p Since I don't usually keep up with these things, can someone tell me if we've done the super-event deal for the Bush and Clinton inaugurations also? I don't care about starting any right vs left stuff; I just wanna know why the frill we're spending so much money. :p
While this is certainly a tragedy to hear and sets people who actually play games into an even deeper negative stereotype, I echo the sentiment shared by most who have posted here. I play video games, a lot. I'm not going to lie, cheat or swerve around that. I play games almost on a daily basis, for more than 4 hours. While this isn't on a consistent basis, I do take my games pretty seriously because I play mostly competitive fighting games and I try to perfect little things. For me, that's a challenge and that's my anti-drug. Some people say it's an unhealthy habit. I say this to them. "Know any other second-semester sophomores with a 4.0 who are sports reporters for their local newspapers?" I grew up in the "gangsta rap" era of hip-hop and the sex-infused, vice filled world of rock and roll (with some grunge mixed in). Yet I never shot anyone, rampaged through a school or anything of that sort. I always keep myself in control of my mind and realize that while I play video games, they aren't real and this is just something I do for enjoyment. The kids who did Columbine were mentally unstable kids, as was this one. The bottom line is this. The kid made a conscious decision to kill his parents. Master Chief, Duke Nukem or Ryu Hayabusa had nothing to do with it.
Amen, brotha. Amen. Yes, I quoted the whole damned post. Yes I left the link to it. :p My man speaks truth there. Pay attention.

Just finished Duma Key today; read literally the half of the book I had left in two hours, since there's nothing to do right now. (Which was what, 300 pages or so?) Pretty good gripper, considering I grabbed it off a Wal-Mart display in September. I would sincerely recommend any aspiring writers or artists read it, provided they can stomach the obsession Stephen King has with the beyond—but not really as a place to learn. Any young writer can pick up useful ideas from an experienced, published, and reputable author (verdict's still out for me on Steph Meyer and Rowling, sorry), but what really struck me towards the end were the interjected views on just being an artist. I dunno if I can really speak clearly about it just now, but the ideas resonated strongly with me. Now I believe I shall attack my Asimovs at long last.

So can I shoot my family, too? I mean, I read the James Bond and the Bourne novels. What if they were conspiring against me? Oh, and I listen to heavy metal. It's aggressive music, right?

Official Trailer Hmm, T4. Dunno what to think, really. First movie was great, second was good, third left off at a fair enough point to contrast the "No Fate" line. But now, seems like something's not going as John Connor said it would in the first movie. Personally, I rather liked the bit about the inevitability of the war and its implications on fate, myself, so we'll see how that gets handled in the new one. Big casting points, though. First, Christian Bale as John Connor. *one eyebrow lifts* Second, no Ahnold. *second eyebrow lifts* Not even a cameo, apparently.
Found on Wikipedia Roland Kickinger as the prototype T-800: This will be the first Terminator film in which Arnold Schwarzenegger does not play the Model 101 Terminator, because he is serving as Governor of California. The Austrian-born Kickinger previously portrayed Schwarzenegger in a 2005 biographical film on the A&E Network.
So we don't get Schwarzenegger, but a Schwarzenegger lookalike. Amusing. Anyone else wanna chip in?

Yes yes. Mykul is the law-word in this contest. I'm just providing logistic support when possibly necessary. :p

Aye, but you need to have some definite period of time set aside for voting to be able to happen. Since you didn't specify, any of the competitors could have taken up until the 23rd even to work on their piece, which would have been remarkably inconvenient for voters, albeit very good rewriting time for the competitor. There are always extenuating circumstances to go past deadlines, of course. Laziness isn't one of them :p but if an entry needs more time, more time can always be given.

So when would be a good time for a big chat? I'm free basically all Tuesday night and most of Wednesday morning and afternoon. Got school Thursday, so Wednesday night won't be a good option. (I don't want to stay up past twelve-thirty this semester. We'll see how that goes.) Gotta figure out how to proceed getting to Jian now. I foresee him sending more of his own to interfere in our group's affairs, with smatterings of victories and defeats on both sides, but mostly stalemates. That should emphasise Victor's point about dealing with Jian directly and completely. I also think I might need to work with Darren a little bit concerning Patrick. I think there's a way we can use him to further the actual story, so. And I know Nathan's full name. The younger reapers might soon hear phrases that seem like they should make sense, but don't right away. Hmm. *cue chin-scratching*
-
I was actually asking Mykul also, since this ain't my contest to run and all. :p Crap, I have something I should be working on, myself. >_> *skeedaddles*

I know school has started back for several people here, and will start soon for others; I go back Thursday this week, myself. So, with that in mind, how's about the end of this week for all submissions, the evening of the 17th or early morning of the 18th? Leaves plenty of time for voting as well.

Good to see this contest start. Once again, I'd like to wish you all the best of luck. Also, I edited the DeLarge vs Rexikat XVI and pfisland vs Shy threads, since for a moment there Anomaly and Mr. Maul couldn't vote in two contests beside their own. :p ¡Buena suerte!

I'm happiest when I'm playing an intricate, demanding piece of music for concert band or jazz big band. I get a massive kick out of really powerful band pieces or, say, a decent Count Basie chart, which is usually nuts to figure out. That, and either doing or just being finished with really strenuous physical work. So really, anything that makes me breathe. ....I....don't usually breathe a lot........ >_>

To Tell The Trust â??So he is the same vampire.â? Gavrie had relaxed after Victor had spoken for a moment, though his body language said he was still ready to strike at a momentâ??s notice. Nathan felt the same, since he was poised to fend Gavrie off of Victor, Isen off of Karl, and everyone present off of anyone else who decided to crash the eveningâ??s party, all while trying to look unconcerned about any of it. â??Yess,â? the suave vampire replied. â??He managed to escape tse destruction of hiss clan wiss a few family memberss and tseveral dozsen loyalistss.â? â??How?!â? Nathan exclaimed. â??I was at the siege of the Jian shogunate. I led the south garrison! I can almost understand one person fleeing, but we hunted for days after the raid. How did such a large group get past us?â? Victor shook his head. â??I am not sure how master Shou managed to escape,â? he said, â??for I was occupied across tse continent at the time, and word of tse fall of tse Jian did not reach me until much laterâ??but what I do know is this. â??Shou dared not move until he was certain that the shinigami were no longer looking for him. I think he remained completely in hiding for several centuries. After he began moving once more, he still remained extraordinarily cautiousâ??so much so that even I wasnâ??t aware he had survived until many years later. I was surprised to learn he still lived, naturally, but not as much at his success in remaining invisible. After all, he was not one of the ruling vampire lords for nothing. â??As human culture flourished in Asia once again, Shou began slipping his hands into various commercial and political affairs. His primary focus, from what I could tell after I became aware of him again, was in rebuilding his clanâ??s numbers; but he went about it very slowly, only ushering new faces into his family in singles or pairs, usually with at least a decade between acceptances. â??By the time of the European Renaissance, Shou had gathered to himself a respectable shadow organization and had begun infiltrating or assuming background leadership of profitable trade relations, which was about the time I decided to assess his situation more fully. We met and shared a few evenings together, but it turned out that our goals were . . . incompatible, and so I left him to his devices. I have kept a spy or two close to him since then, and over years I have leaked a small bit of information here and there to your Council, but....â? Nathan abruptly noticed that Victor had been speaking for some time in Etruscan, and all trace of his former accent had vanished. The language had been dead for millennia; Nathan wondered why he hadnâ??t heard the transition. Victor was studying his fingernails. â??...unfortunately, it seems that it was a mistake to handle him as I did.â? â??Really.â? Nathan glanced left. Gavrie had fixed Victor with his demandingly inquisitive stare; apparently he had also noticed the language shift. Nathanâ??s eyes flicked past him briefly, then returned to Victor, who had uttered a quiet andâ??surprisinglyâ??almost nervous-sounding laugh. â??Yes.â? The vampire was speaking Latin now. â??Some of what he desires conflicts with my own agenda, and because I believed my information would have him found out and dealt with, I saw no reason to risk my own people in hampering or obstructing his movements. And now....â? Nathan sighed. â??Vic,â? he said tiredly, â??will you stop trailing off and speak already? You wouldnâ??t have taken the time to find out what I was doing or come here at all if you didnâ??t have something to say.â? He eyed Victor testily. â??Say it already,â? he demanded. Victor stopped and smiled to himself. â??Very well,â? he said, in English once again. â??I came to offer tsis advice: tse man you seek iss, as I tsaid before, a very powerful businessman, wiss influence and reach into almosst any country he wishess. He has unbelievable resourcess at hiss disposal, and hiss close companionss are those wiss whom he etscaped many yearss ago. Tsey will not betray him easily, or be easily dealt wiss. And now tsey are much greater in number." "Anything else?" Victor nodded. "Do not treat Shou Jian as you treated tsat inept Count upstart. Shou is a vampire lord, and tse son of a vampire lord. He was a fair match for any Shinigami when you knew him, and he hass not grown weaker tsince tse fall of hiss clan. And,â? Victor added, â??he holdss a very long grudge. If you mean to go after him, I tsuggest tsat you hold notsing back.â? â??Is that it?â? asked Nathan and Isen in unison. â??Yess, tsat â??is itâ??,â? said Victor, amused. â??And now I shall leave, tsince it appears I have long tsince outstayed mytself.â? He smirked and leapt lightly into the air, landing back on the roof where he had appeared. He swept a grand bow, his right arm crossing his stomach. â??Au revoir, my lady cat,â? he offered before strolling out of sight. When Nathan looked down again, Gavrie was attempting to stare a hole in his head. â??Nathan. That was a vampire.â? â??Yeah,â? sighed the blue reaper. â??And boy, donâ??t you just want to murder him sometimes....â?
