I am curious about one thing she's mentioned though, about a certain character... blue?
Well welcome to the group... boards... eh yeah. Hey how did your girlfriend manage to make you post? I'm trying to get my boyfriend to particpate and I haven't had much luck yet. She didn't hog tie ya did she?
Surprisingly, no. I was asking her about it earlier, and she was actually startled at the news, so it was probably just a spur-o'-th'-moment deal.
Congratulations, Indi. Finally got 'im around.
Well, uhh, I work here. So I kinda stay around for that. Plus, you know, there's some good cut-up threads here and every now and again something worth talking about, and I have a project or two going in the Theater.... ....although I dunno what kind of censorship is going on. (RHETORICAL STATEMENT DO NOT RESPOND)

The actual proverb reads "love of money is the root of all evil". Money itself is quite obviously incapable of being anything but neutral; the good or evil is in how it is used. So yeah, since I was pretty well split on my call, I felt the indistinct images was less of a problem than false advertising, if you will. :p

I dunno if anyone realises this, but Cat's banner has people an animals made out of money on it. That's what the oddball shapes are supposed to be. Maybe for this one, Cat, you should have used a background color/texture that didn't blend quite so well with the foreground images, because recognizing the animals wasn't exactly the easiest thing in the world. Clever idea, but I think you went a bit far on the camouflage angle. Voted for ya anyway, since I thought that idea was really clever and because the phrase on Jeremy's (root of all evil) is fundamentally incorrect.
Question about Tales of the Abyss: I thought about watching it, but I have never played the game and have next to no experience with the series in general (the two episodes of the Tales of Symphonia[/b'] OVA we watched during Anime Club on Saturday was my first exposure to anything Tales-related). Does that really matter at all, or does anyone think I can go into this fresh and still enjoy it?
I've been. And since we're in the same boat.... I think it'd be equivalent to watching The Lord of The Rings or V for Vendetta; knowledge of the original will enhance your appreciation, but you'd probably be fine just watching.
I would only be in favor of a bail out if strict regulation was also introduced instead of a quick fix that wouldn't stop it from happening again.[/FONT']
But there's the sneaky bit. If the motion had passed, the firms in question would have then been openly government-backed. Essentially?unless I'm making a false connection somewhere?half(-ish) of the mortgages in the country would then be conceivably under the jurisdiction of the Federal government, and that possibility bothers me greatly. I sincerely maintain that it is not the government's responsibility to rescue any failing company, whether it be local, state-wide, nation-wide, private, or corporate. Also, someone please enlighten me on how specifically the Dow gains or loses points, and what 'points' even means. Because I also believe that half of the market's problems stems from the self-fulfilling prophecies of speculators. And that's completely illogical.
But I'm glad it was blocked and turned down. They need a solution down on Wall St (which for everyone's information is twenty percent of New York State's Tax revenue) and a solution for the American economy as a whole not just a band aid. It's a gaping wound not a paper cut.
Yeah. And the other side of this, and the part that bothers me the most, is that the bailout money simply does not exist. So effectively this bailout would not have done anything except keep someone in the hole. And let's face it. Our Feds do not need to be any more in the hole.

First, I think it's depressing that our economy is half-run by people gambling on companies' futures with money that doesn't exist. I would love to drag every speculator in the US out into the streets and shoot them, one by one. Second, if a company is going bankrupt, let it go bankrupt. Chances are the other competing companies will swoop in and vie for the leftovers, and that'll be good for competition and provide job opportunities for those ousted by the dead company. And besides, we don't need a nation-wide mortgage company owing the Federal sector any favors.
Hold up there. Not all people use the Bible as an excuse to hate homosexuals.
And the people who do are probably not Christians. "Hate the sin, love the sinner." Big, big detail. Edit:

Originally posted by Vicky And since I know someone will bring this up, YES, I KNOW that the bible says being bi, lesbian or gay is wrong. Before you go around being all sarcastic and lovely like that, make sure you have the right quote. Vicky didn't say that. That one belongs to chibi-master, the opening poster for this thread. And now you have egg all over your face.
Do you or your family have any enemies?
.............................LOL. Honestly, I wouldn't worry about finding out. Don't be so rash. First, either people could be taking their time to compose poetry, or they just don't feel like it. That's not your fault. And second, a thread failure is never something to get depressed about. Besides, you can double post in this forum, so why not add some other poetry; or just have the subject be about seasons in general? Also, somewhere around here is a Community Anthology thread. If you write something short, and aren't sure whether or not a good thread could be made from it, just drop it there. (^_^)
To elaborate a little bit more on your post, Allamorph, one of the Levitticus laws was a statement against using tattoos. Now, the reason why this was done was because, at that time, tattoos were almost strictly used in pagan worship of shapes and symbols. Using a tattoo at that moment in time[/i'] had a very different meaning than to be sexy or attractive. That is not the case now, so there is little to worry.
Close. However, that commandment (Leviticus 19:28, for those who want to know) and all others in that section were prefaced by this statement:
The LORD said to Moses, "Speak to the entire assembly of Israel and say to them: 'Be holy because I, the LORD your God, am holy.' "
These commandments were first intended to provide laws for the people, and second to set apart the Hebrews as God's chosen people. Notice, if you look, that the previous command says to not cut the hair at the side of your head, or to trim the edges of your beard. Beard-trimming is not a sin; this was an outward mark of His people. Keep that in mind.

I saw the subject of the body as a temple (Christian stance) come up a while ago, and I thought I'd touch on it a moment. It felt to me as if the understanding of the concept was rather shallow, and I wanted to get the context right. See, I don't really find tattoos offensive at all. I find some of them silly?like, for instance, the name of your significant [strike]figure[/strike] other (sorry; chemistry is wearing on me)?and some quite beautiful, but mostly I just see them there. The 'offensive' ones are only offensive if you let them offend you, and remember that some of the people who wear them will have to live with their "good idea" for many more years, so a small cynical chuckle doesn't hurt. But the statement that "the body is a temple to God" should be used as refute against tattoos very carefully, and only after one has examined what the author (Paul) was saying when he wrote it. (Incidentally, I hate verses, and only use them as reference points; they work fine in Psalms and Proverbs, but elsewhere the temptation to dissect out of context is too great for many people, even pastors, to handle. I try to quote paragraphs in whole numbers as much as I can.)
1 Corinthians 6:18-20 (NKJV) Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is the temple of tthe Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
In the previous paragraph (which I'll spare you the quoting), Paul was also talking about sexual immorality. Therefore the 'temple' argument is directed at that act. One can certainly apply the last sentence to the concept that tattoos do not glorify God, but then again someone might wish to be tattooed as a sign of worship. So if the act of tattooing is unclear, how do we (as Christians, mind; I do not speak for all here) decide whether such an act is in fact defiling the body?
Romans 12:1,2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
Previously in Romans, Paul was discussing the concept of grace, and how forgiveness from all sin did not mean a license to sin out the wazoo. Here he is urging that we keep ourselves holy; this word in any context describes an object that has been set aside for the honoring of a specific thing, usually a god and in this case God. The last part of the paragraph is important. "...be transformed by the renewing of your mind...." Basically, in whatever you do, do it so that it glorifies God, "...so that you may prove what is good and acceptable....." From these statements, we can determine that tattooing is not inherently a defiling of the body, unless the intent is to raise up something other than Him. (Again I must repeat, I speak for the Christian sect.) A tattoo meant to praise Him is obviously fine. A tattoo to be there is . . . iffy, and no one's to judge but the owner and God. Ultimately, the issue only applies to the individual. Since the individual is getting the symbol, it is no one else's responsibility to declare it foul UNLESS one Christian to another feels that accountability is needed, and then admonishment can only go so far. So do I mind tattoos? No. Some o' them are pretty frilling neat. I think the guy who tattooed himself all over with leopard spots and went buck naked to live in the wild has a few problems to work out, but I lose no sleep over it. And I don't currently feel the desire to get one, but that's my choice. ----------------
Besides, it amuses me.
The minute you said that was the minute I lost all respect for you.

Salier was pleased at her prisoner's reaction. The chair had been the result of an easy bit of delving, which she was glad to see had paid off. His eyes had given him away; the familiar object had brought up the right memories, and now he thought he knew what was coming. —Let him, she told herself. —Let him believe he has control, a bit of leverage that I don't know about. She was certain he was feeling out of sorts after the long trip; a little common ground between them now would make it that much easier to completely disorient him when they got started. And Jared Scorer had responded just as she'd wanted. She hadn't been expecting the second response, though: the brief unsettled twinge that had flitted across his face when he'd looked from the chair to her. However slight it might have been, it was the unmistakable seed of fear, and she wondered what would result should she continue to play on that feeling. Her prisoner stopped a short ways from the chair and relaxed, reclining on the air and clasping his hands behind his head. "That's a nice piece of equipment," he said nonchalantly. Salier nodded her thanks. "A bit old,â?" she conceded, "but perfectly functional." She allowed herself a small smile. "We try to make our guests feel at home with more . . . familiar accommodations." The captive raised an eyebrow. "Do you?" "We find that it helps with the acclimation." Scorer seemed amused with her jab. So far so good. "Maybe," he was saying, "but your room service could use a little work. A fruit basket would have been nice." Salier shrugged. "We're still working out a few kinks." She gestured at the chair again."If you don't mind," she invited generously. He eyed her for a moment, and then obliged, easing himself into it as if it were merely another lounge chair. Once settled, he stretched lazily and settled down, casually drumming his fingers. He drew a slow breath. "Mmm," he mused. "Not bad. You've obviously done your homework." Salier saw his gaze flit over the armrests, no doubt noticing the lack of restraints. Leaving them off had been a subject of some small debate, but the final decision had been to abandon them; L'Arachel felt their absence added to the effect, too, since at best the prisoner would suspect a small degree of incompetency and at worst would be more confused. "I'm glad it's to your tastes," she said. She rose, arms crossed, and began to pace around the front of him, keeping her stride deliberate and measured. "I'm sorry it took so long to get you here," she told him. She took a small breath. "My superior also wanted to express his apologies, since he was unable to see you settled in himself." She made a careless gesture to the air as she passed the chair's right. "I'm sure you're familiar with the constraints of leadership." "You could say that." The prisoner looked around. "So what, may I ask, are we waiting on?" "A few of the medical staff," answered Salier. "They'll be preparing you for the main event." This remark provoked an actual laugh from the Versilan in the chair. "Really?" he ejaculated. "Then I hope they aren't much longer. I look forward to it." Salier smirked. "No...," she said. Grasping his shoulder with her right hand, she let the hypospray concealed in her other sleeve slip down into her waiting palm, and with a quick motion pressed it to his arm, just above the elbow. The sudden hiss caught the prisoner's attention; he turned his head sharply, staring at her hand, and as the anesthesia began to cloud his senses, his eyes lifted to meet hers, utter confusion etched across his face. In another second the prisoner had slumped back against the chair, his body completely relaxed. Salier's eyes narrowed, the smirk gone from her face. Her hand dropped to her side. "...you won't."
