  2. Honestly, mental preparation isn't really something you can do for this. You just choose. Take it or psych out. Although, who knows? You might be in luck. From what I've been told, Navy BT has turned into two months of hugs and gummi bears. Who knows what's happened to Army.
  3. Thought so. Navy, here; been in the nuclear training pipeline for about a year and a half now. Don't let the stereotypes fool you. Some of us are actually normal. =P Yeah, it's strange and really sobering how much more often people in your peer age group die the older you get. I still haven't gotten used to it. =/ And good on you. Just remember, when you get to BT, there's gonna be a lot of screaming. Drill sergeants' jobs are you push you hard to make you better, and to psych you out if you can't steel up. Don't take it personally, and don't let it get to you. It's gonna be real shitty, but it's only temporary. Plus they pay you for getting screamed at, too. Granted you won't really see it until afterwards, but it'll be a pleasant chunk of change in the account.
  4. What are you talking about, five in the morning is the best time to run. Besides, if you're still drinking at two in the morning, you're wrong. Nothing good ever happens on the mid-watch.
  5. Apparently a different state with no internet.
  6. At present, browsing by category is a somewhat tedious process. The boards currently appear to interpret the filter as a search function, and so if you're looking for particular threads or thread types and moving on to the next page of threads, it considers you to be "searching" too quickly and enables Flood Control on your browsing.
  7. Beat up, stiff, sore, exhausted, and very very happy. 10/10, would faceplant and cartwheel and otherwise eat **** down a snow-covered mountain again.

  8. Fear of failure and comfort zones kill. [10 Years â?? 11:00AM (Daydreamer)]
  9. Airsoft snow skirmish sadly aborted after two premature blown CO2 canisters. Final score: 1:1 Achievements: Do A Barrel Roll! (tran - roll backwards through a snow drift to escape); Safe! (Allamorph - sprint and dive through a snowbank while firing)
  10. I always get excited over wyvvern knights.

  11. I think, in a direct comparison, it's tough to say decisively that one of the games is better than the other simply because they are so markedly different in approach. Guild Wars, for me, was mostly a mental challenge, and gameplay was about efficiency and timing and understanding exactly how your skills worked. Guild Wars 2 is much more focused on movement and involvement, and while you still have a fair amount of the same focus on timing and efficiency, there are many moments in regular gameplay where you need to be able to swap roles quickly and improvise a little in order to survive. The Downed state (similar to the Borderlands concept) is a good illustration of that, adding a bit more tenseness to the game than when you just keel over at 0 HP. GW2 is also significantly more interactive. You can now run into other random players out in the regular world, instead of having to meet up in towns and only seeing you and your party in your personalised instances. And since loot drops and gathering nodes are unique to each player, there's still no concern with ganking. The Living Story content is also slowly coming out, so now would be a perfect time to get into the game.
  12. Enter The Haggis, who I got to see live this weekend. Great musical show, very talented group. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6bjleEcNnSo
  13. $280 worth of airsoft gear is on its way to my house.

  14. New running shoes. =) So much better-feeling than those GI New Balance I got issued a couple Octobers ago. Also am seriously considering dropping about three hundred dollars on some airsoft gear. Got several people around here interested in it, and I sure wouldn't mind some action now and again.
  15. Aha. So that's why you never responded. e_e
  16. The trick I'm learning is to start recognising when you're overmatched, and to not let the enemy lure you into overextending. Knowing your range and exactly how your abilities work is extremely importantâ??although I'm sure that doesn't need to be said.
  17. I know what you mean. It's also hard for me to tell how much of the suckage is only my team, and how much is me as well. Still trying to figure out heroes that fit with my mental playstyle. I tend to be more of a free agent so that I can adapt and improvise strategy, and favor spikers. If you want to add me to contacts, name's the same as here. Pretty much my name is the same everywhere, actually.
  18. An old pal from high school recently got me into League of Legends. Still really new to the game. I mostly play AI Dominion so I can figure out heroes.
  19. Hunh. You'll be six hours from me.
