1.
Again, there are far more theories that have to be true in order for the Theory of Evolution to be true.
I am well aware of that. They weren't relevant at the time, though; I was merely acknowledging the existence of the young/old issue.
 2.
We haven't observed the phenomena of macroevolution, but if the vast majority of our information is pointing us towards it, why should we outright dismiss the entire thing?
Actually, that isn't quite right. The vast majority ? no, all the information points where you want to see it pointing simply because there are so many variables unaccounted for or unexplainable. Stepping in either direction requires a leap of faith.
I also think those who are unwilling to "believe in" evolution don't take into account the fact that macroevolution is only microevolution over a very long span of time. If you support microevolution, the foot is already in the door for the rest of it.
I'm gonna call "eeeeegnhhh" on that one, too. See, microevolution as I understand it deals with the survival of the most fit genetic information already present. Macroevolution deals with survival of the addition of new genetic information, or information that wasn't already present. That's a major bone for me, actually. Intraspecies evolution is obviously a reality. Interspecies evolution is theoretical, and augmented by surmising billions of years. (And here again, the age of the Earth is a touchy subject.)
 3.
Aren't you guys worried that McCain's last name means "Son of Cain"? I thought that would matter very much to at least funda... excuse me, evangelicals[/I'], and vampire roleplayers.
Heh. :p Not particularly, no. Oddly enough, most names nowadays have lost almost all of their meaning and whatever possible power they might have once had. (I prize mine, incidentally. It is very strong.)
 4.

Complete horror?[/spoiler']

Á la Mistah Kurtz? =P
Not a classic yet, but maybe The Dresden Files. I know Sci-Fi gave it a go as a series, but it could potentially rock as an anime.
 5.
After all she is his 'shrill security blanket'[/B'] after all. :D
I love how all these smart-ass monikers of mine end up sticking with everybody. :D Edit: Right, so I'm going to try to post sometime today or tomorrow. I'm also going to try to have that explanation up before Monday. We'll see what happens. ------------------ Post-edit: It looks like we're going to be playing Shinigami Tag for the next several posts. :p Rach, we'll probably need to talk soon about timing; if Alex goes looking for Nathan, he might end up finding something he's not expecting at all.
 6.
I would like to see an anime of any LOTR-ish book just to see a different take on modern western fantasy but it could easliy be disapointing the fans of the books if it wasnt done just right .
Like that disgusting cartoon of The Hobbit. Gah.
 7. I realize that this thread is a little old, but I (aided
and abetted
by Lunox) have found a couple more publications in the same vein. The Manga Bible This one doesn't exactly feel like manga, per sé, so much as it does like a DC novel; but from the panels I've seen, it seems to be considerably better than the comic presented by AzureWolf. More maturity present, I feel, and much less bad-joke fluff. It's written and illustrated by Akinsiku (or just Siku), a British-Nigerian Christian graphic artist, and as of now he has four different Bibles available for purchase; two of which focus only on the New Testament. Manga Messiah, and the cover image. Manga Messiah is produced by Next, (link), a Tokyo-based group. The art style is definitely manga, unlike the other two, and I actually find some of the panels incredibly humorous, even given the serious nature of the material. Next has five manga planned, and as of their latest site update (I think) are in the process of finishing their second and third. I first heard about this concept on theOtaku.com's podcast, of all places, but it was Lunox who did all the legwork . . . after being poked by me. :p Now, I am a Christian myself, and I was raised on a picture Bible, so this is half amusing and half really-flippin'-cool to me. Some people might find it sacrilegious, but I see it as just another medium for presentation, and am quite honestly interested in possibly purchasing one or the other for reference material and just to have something nifty to show people. I am incredibly tickled at the purple-haired angel, as well as Super Saiyan Jesus. (As a point of interest, that particular scene was from the Transfiguration, so it kinda makes sense....)
 8. Yeah, this thread needs more humor. :animesmil So I come bearing gifts for both sides.
Wham.

Bam.
Thank you, ma'am.
 9. What, Looney Tunes? :p Look, if the Bible can be put into manga form, then surely this....
 10.
It feels like everything would be too serious or too absurd if made into an anime.
I feel that the absurdity would only heighten the effect of the metaphors. :animesmil I mean, just take the scene with the boy who's point of view never changed, or Illusion and Reality, or even the cast jumping to Conclusions. Studio Ghibli might be a great pick for that, come to think of it....
 11.
Experiments are basically observing things and collecting data. I'm not sure you understand that. You can label it as "data gathering" if you want, but it's more accurately and commonly called experimentation and the scientific process.
Experimentation is the observation and collection of data of a controlled situation. In order for an observation to be called an experiment, and thus hold any weight at all, all possible confounding variables must be eliminated. Anything short of this is mere observation and subject to high levels of bias. There will be a test over this tomorrow.
 12.
And if Mitt Romney declared a love for classical music?
Dude, if Barney decided Classical music was the stuff, I still wouldn't like him all that much. Sorry, that was just a dumb statement. :animesmil
 13. Hey, my first post in here and I snag — wait, nevermind. Hundredth reply. I'm a goof. Anyway, current wallpaper is very pretty. It's also an Acura. Go figure. Teh Link.
 14. Like Goodbye, Face there, mostly everything in my library is proverbially dog-eared. Notables are Unearthed (E.S. Posthumus); Only The Beginning (Chicago [27?]); Once (Nightwish); Hybrid Awaken and Wall of Sound (Lunar); and The Ring (Keiko Matsui) I had some John Williams, but I threw it away because it was synth, and not the original instrumentation.
 15.
Those points you brought up can also be used to prop up creationism, dependent on the spin you give them. To me, those points look like the work of an engaged creator, giving his creation necessary variations so they can survive in certain environments.
To add to this: check out Ken Ham ? specifically, his theory on genetic degradation.
 16.
Wait, where is Ralph Nader?
Hilary killed him, dude. I know, though. It's odd not seeing him in the race. I mean, he's almost become tradition. I think he ran against Lincoln, right?
 17. –So, Nathan thought as he watched the others fly away from the mansion?s rear garden, –Adrian knows how to bond with his partner. Dangerous knowledge there. I wonder if he knows how dangerous it really is. I wonder what else he knows. I wonder who told him. –And it was Alex who bought them the time, eh? Interesting. He picked up the Chant, too. Promising boy; I think Trey would have liked him, even if he?s a little wet behind the ears. He sighed inwardly. –And now we have this little problem. He glanced to his left. Aeru was walking disconsolately beside the garden wall, her arms folded against her chest. Nathan couldn't see her face, but he could hear her sniffle every now and again, and as he watched her she drew her hand across her eyes; it glistened with moisture when she pulled it away. Nathan closed his eyes, taking a deep breath. He didn't like where this was headed. "Hey...," he began gently. She whirled on him, her face stained with tears. "No!" she cried, flinging her arms down. "You know what, Nathan? Just ... just ... no." She turned her face away, sniffing again. "Don't say anything to me, okay? You're mean, you're cruel, and you hide behind that—that stupid mask all the time. You don't even care, do you? You ... just don't, okay?" She hugged herself. "Just don't." Nathan studied her for a few seconds. She was obviously distraught; one didn't have to be empathic to figure that part out. Breaking away, he looked back towards the direction the others had taken, but they had already disappeared from view. "You know, I wasn't always this color," he started again. Out of the corner of his vision, he saw Aeru give him a startled stare, though she tried to cover it immediately with scorn. "I was rather normal-looking a long time ago," he continued, catching her eye. "Blonde, actually. A rather nice color for hair, I think. I liked it, at least. I miss it, sometimes; looking normal, I mean." He grinned. "It's not easy, being blue." Aeru snorted. "So what happened?" she asked. "Freak accident?" "No," Nathan told her, "nothing like that." He started towards her. "But it's nothing you need to know about now, and something I hope you never learn. "The bottom line is that I was too involved with a situation that blew up on me, and I had a severe conflict of interest that resulted in a desperate and otherwise completely inadvisable solution. I got attached to someone," he said, placing a hand on her shoulder, "and it came back to haunt me." "I know it's not fair," he said before she could protest. "It's never fair. But she was supposed to be dead already. It doesn't matter that she probably didn't have a chance at life in the first place; I could say the same thing of those teenagers I had to take two days ago, or the infant last week. "We're here to bring death, to end the cycle for the other souls who live here with us. Vampires, they aren't supposed to be here. They're dead and yet not dead. So it falls to us to fix that mistake. We have to kill them, Aeru," he entreated. "That's what we do, whether they deserve it or not." Aeru shook her head. "Then I can't do this," she said softly. –Oh no, Nathan thought. –Here it comes. "You don't have to," he said hastily. "I can keep you off the front line when these missions turn up, you can ask for a reassignment–" "You don't understand," she interrupted. –Yes, I do. I know. "I can't keep doing this at all. Not with what I know or what I've seen. I don't know what I'd do." She looked at Nathan imploringly. "I just can't keep being a Shinigami." Nathan sighed. "I understand," he murmured. He stepped back. "Do what you need to do." Aeru offered him a wan smile and turned to her familiar, who had been hovering uncertainly behind her the entire time. "Come on, Joe," she said, opening her arms. "Let's go." With a skeptical expression, the cat obeyed, and Aeru snuggled him tightly to her chest. She closed her eyes and bowed her head, and as Nathan watched they glowed and turned transparent, vanishing into white light and a shower of sparkles. Nathan looked at the spot where she?d stood for a long time. –I've seen far too much of that.
 18.
Oh yeah, that was so weird...
Yeah.... (frikkin' silly asian people. :p)
I personally thought Luigi's was nuts (not necessarily in a good way - he really did look like he'd had one too many mushrooms).
There was that :animesmil ; I don't know what it's from. It looks like Mario had something on his head, too, kind of reminiscent of the Lip's Stick effect.
And I was disappointed that there were two Landmasters. One should definitely have been an Arwing.
Three Landmasters. And agreed. Variety would have been appreciated. From what I've seen total, Falco's shot has a smaller (vertically) hitbox than Fox's in the Landmaster. I haven't seen the Red Landmaster fire yet, so I don't know anything there. Pretty much anybody with a sword had an awesome smash.
Looked more like he decided to Hadoken the stage to me.
=P I'm pretty sure he did that a bit earlier than I noted. This instance was during Jigglypuff's demo. (Which may or may not be good. Depends on how well the player can follow up.)
 19. Luigi's seems to be a constant damage over time, with a small bit of stun at the beginning. Interesting, and potentially very annoying. I think what I like most about Marth's is sheer speed and the little HP gauge easter egg that shows up for each enemy you're killing. As soon as Marth hits them, it drains. It's a straight-up critical. :animesmil (Dang, I'd still like to play as Ephraim from FE:SS. That would rock.) I'm also interested in playing as Lucario and Wolf, aside from my previously mentioned wonts. And was it just me, or did Lucario do the Samus/Link wall grab? (7:40-ish.) Edit: Oh, and have fun recovering from Sheik's Light Arrow. That's a trajectory from hell.
 20. I call a hearty Second to O.S. Card and Terry Brooks. The Phantom Tolbooth. Very metaphorical, very nonsensical. That or The Forgotten Door, which would make a very good short series. I had some others in mind, but I can't remember them now.....
 21. Nintendo is officially awesome. Yes, Shy, this definitely tops R.O.B. Sorry. :animesmil
 22. The 50 Themes of Art Studio Possibly one of the most all-inclusive events the Boards has ever seen. It didn?t matter what your talents were; if you had an ounce of visual creativity in you, you could join. I saw some of the coolest free-hand sketches in that thread.... The Death Card series Combine strategy, role-play, and Clue, and you have the essence of this amazing game title, which has already had four successful installments. The Banning (again) of The Blue Jihad Even more overdue than that of the blathery Mitch, this decision was nifty because of the extreme tact and unobtrusiveness with which it was handled. Seriously. I almost didn?t realize it had happened. (This makes James nifty by proxy, I think, but that?s another issue.) The OtakuBoards Graphic Worm If nothing else, it?s just fun to watch it assemble itself. The Theater It?s awesome, it?s chock-full of great stories in the making, and I live there. The Otakuboards Celebration: Part 1 Inspired by the interesting return of Rick Hunter and the surrounding Otakupedia fiasco, and continued for no reason whatsoever besides merriment and pie, it was simply a fun read. I think I died a few times in it, but I got to collar Alex, so whatever. :p ------------------------
Oh and I'd like to make an anti-vote on:
What is it? Views on self pleasure

Seconded. Sorry, Indi. Just . . . no.

 24. I'm sorry, guys. I just can't hold it any longer. Not after seeing Da Man in all his flashy goodness. 25.
Anyways, yeah, just waiting on Allamorph to make a post and he and I should be in business for a while which means I'm more inclined to not be so lazy.
Actually, what since I just created that opportunity (and the character :p) that Andrew just seized, I don't see that we're in the way of the next chapter firing up. 'Course, if you thinks otherwise, O Lady Vicky of the Epileptic Signature, I can always work something up Thursday evening. (Tonight's out of the question, and tomorrow is a bit packed, though I might could see what I could do.) Now I must think. Of shoes. And ships. And caulk.
