Anime What do you look for in an anime and what do you dislike in one?
chibi-mashumaro replied to Magus's topic in Otaku Central
I'm not really sure what I look for in an anime. Sometimes, I think it differs from each show. I think it might be mostly story, but I also look for animation, and who makes it. Like, I usually don't get many VIZ liscensed animes (bad dub!). Sometimes, I get an anime because the cover looks cool! XD Um, things I dislike in animes.... well, I'm not much of a horror person. And I like action, but gory action I dislike. And, I'm also a girl, so fan service doesn't really attract me either.
Speaking of comedy, that's another way to turn me away from animes. Now don't get me wrong, I enjoy a good laugh every once in a while but some shows tend to have either too much comedy or corny things that're suppose to be funny; Eureka 7 at one point for me just seemed to focus on comedy quite a bit, and that just didn't cut it. (Honestly, I don't like comedy in animes, but I will watch if it has alot of action.) Naruto on the other hand is just downright corny. Nothing in it seems funny to me, and I've read the manga. All them perverted jokes... Really, that's suppose to be funny? But then again, as I've said before, I don't have a sense of humor.[/size']
I agree with you very much. I like comedy, but corny comedy really can keep me from watching a show. I just don't like it. Eureka Seven, although one of my top favorite animes, was corny in the beginning. But getting later in the series, it's become much more compelling. And Naruto, I LOVE the series, I have all the mangas that are released in the US, and read it every month in Shonen Jump, but I just couldn't get into the anime as well as I did the manga. And, I know lots of people though the sexy jutsu was really funny, but I just didn't find it super funny. Oh well, guess I'm weird. -
Usually, I'll watch it Dubbed, unless the Dub absolutely sucks, then I watch it subtitled. Sometimes I watch the sub after I've seen the dub. But, I hate it when Viz liscenses an anime, because they always do a sucky job on the dub, and don't include the original Japanese track, so you can know what it's supposed to sound like... -__-'

Anime Video Games That should be Animes
chibi-mashumaro replied to Deathsye's topic in Otaku Central
Um... there's only really one game I can think of right now, and its: Valkyrie profile 2: silmeria, it would be awesome to see an anime of that, it has such a cool story! Oh, and I also agree with:
For example, wouldn't we all benefit from a movie based off of Shadow of the Colosus[/b']
Shadow of the Colossus was an awesome game! :D -
Well, I'm a crybaby. (XD) Especially when it comes animes and mangas. Here are the ones... Naruto - In vol. 4 when
we found out about Haku's tragic past, and haku died, it was sad! I cried.
I cried while watching both The Place Promised in our early Days, and Voices of a Distant star. But both of those movies are just sad! Anyone who's watched them should know. While reading the City With No People inside the Chobits manga, I got sad, but didn't cry. It's a sad story. Although, it took me a while to figure out
that they were talking about humans with persocoms, and chi trying to find the "one person just for her".
It was confusing, at first. But I guess it was kinda obvious when I look back... I'm just a little dense... I guess.. ^^;; lol. Fruits Basket - There are many things to cry over in Furuba! To start, the scene where Tohru discovers
Kyo's true form. But, she accepts him, and is not afraid to show her fear, which makes kyo happy. And then they hug! Yay the best part. :3
Um... there's also the part in the manga where
we discover Rin's sad past, where her parents completely rejected her, saying they didn't need her. Poor rin!:animecry:
And lastly (I think) was the scene in vol. 1 where
Tohru had to return to her grandpa's house because they had finnished renovating, but she realized she never wanted to leave. But yuki and kyo came to the rescue, and to bring her home.
It was more of a happy/relieved cry for that scene, i guess. Some other ones I cried over were the ending of Pita-ten, and also in Pita-ten the scene where
Shia's past was revealed, and when she found out that Taro was dead, and also the scene where she died. Sooo Sad! :animecry:
Um... Oh yeah, one scene in Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone complex made me cry, but I guess i was sort of a baby for it... i dunno.
It was whent he Tachikomas died in the end, protecting Batou
. I guess I'm a crybaby! ^^;;; lol. Um sorry I talk too much! ^^;; That's all I can think of for now. -EDIT- Oh yeah, it's not an anime or manga, but I cried when I found out that Ritsuko Okazaki died...

Love Hina is so funny! I've completed the manga, which is probably my favorite (over the anime, I mean). I like the comedy, and the mushy romantic stuff too. lol. The theme song on the anime rocks! :D

Anime Animes That need To be Remade , Revised, or Redone
chibi-mashumaro replied to Kenshin DX's topic in Otaku Central
hmmm, well, there's one anime I can think of. I think that they should at least redo the english dub on the original Ah! My Goddess OVA. I might be just me, but I couldn't stand it. I watched almost the whole thing in Japanese.
