1. I'll give it a shot then, I thought I went back far enough, but I'll go even further. And if downloading is an issue, that will come to an end. It's not like my roomate can't go to his parents house and do the same thing there. I just wish I knew for sure how it got there. Since in the past five years I've never had an issue before. :animesigh
 2.
Is my edge really that blunted these days? It was sarcasm.
No just my newbie lack of an edge in discerning what is meant as sarcasm on a message board. ;)
Oh, I would definitely argue it's easier to idealize and therefore prop them up to be a martyr if they're dead. There's a greater power to being killed than being imprisoned, in terms of your follower's response. For instance, Dr. King was imprisoned (Letter from a Birmingham Jail, anyone?) but there wasn't really any outrage when compared to when he was assassinated. Yes, there were riots and police-civilian clashes when he was killed. Not when he was imprisoned.
Hmmm?I?ll concede the point.
As far as I could tell, the kettle of Iraq was on simmer when Saddam was imprisoned, and considering the duration of his imprisonment prior to his execution, I'm willing to hazard that there wasn't going to be any sectarian violence or threat of civil war from it. But then he was executed, and all of the sudden things are boiling over.
I guess since there are constant reports of problems over in Iraq it gives the impression that it is never on any form of simmer, but rather different phases of destruction that vary in their intensity. With the execution of Saddam being one of the high points.
 3.
In the end, you really just have to be careful of what you click. I've been using IE7 for quite a while now and have yet to have a problem like that. Now, I'm not accusing you of anything but the only sure way to keep things like that from happening is to pay very careful attention to what you're downloading and installing.[/color']
I see, then the fact that downloading the new Internet Explorer from what I thought was Microsoft?s official site, may have in fact not been the correct site and I ended up with spy ware instead? Because I rarely download anything, I?m not into that kind of stuff at all. I pretty much use my computer for schoolwork, playing pc games, which are installed off of the disk that comes in the box and browsing the Internet. About the only serious downloading that occurs is for one of my roommates as I?ve let him down load songs to a CD. Usually every couple of weeks he wants to download some new ones. I assumed it was Internet Explorer since the problem started around the same time I downloaded it. I can see creating a restore point, but do I really have to reinstall everything to get rid of it? Because I just tried going into the system and having it restore to a previous point and though it says the restoration was successful, the problem still occurs.
 4. I was afraid of that. Since nothing I've done has made a difference. I use firefox most of the time, it's just those few times I actually do use Internet Explorer that I get all the pop ups. They aren't for mature stuff, but for removing spyware. I don't want to re-install everything, unless they start occuring even when I'm not using Internet Explorer. I do have another question though, does anyone else have a suggestion? And how does this sort of thing happen in the first place? I run a firewall and a anti-virus/spam program anytime I'm on the computer. So is there something else one can do to protect you that I'm missing?
 5. I tried to like this show, especially since it started out so well, the characters with their different yet fun personalities really drew me in. But then the fillers started, and at that point my enjoyment died, as it just seemed like all they did was drag things out needlessly. I still catch an episode every now and then, but not very often.
 6. When I upgraded to Internet Explorer seven a few months ago it started a trend of every time I load it, tons of popup and ads come up. To the point that I have to use the Window?s Task Manger to shut it down and stop all the popups. I figured it was a virus, or something like that and I?m sure it is, but I?ve tried virus scans with McAfee, I?ve tried the two free online ones recommended here at this site, I?ve tried programs like ad-aware and spybot. And yet in the end, no virus or spy ware is found and the problem continues any time I open that program. I?ve even tried re-installing it and yet the problem won?t go away. I never really used it a lot anyway, but it?s annoying that it even does it in the first place. Any suggestions? I?m kind of at my wits end as to what I should try next.
 7.
There was (And is) a lot of chaos in Iraq, but he sure as hell wasn't responsible for it.
I don't mean the current chaos or that he is responsible for what's going on in Iraq, I mean in regards to those people who died due to his actions. I wasn't clear on that the first time, sorry.
 8. I?m not sure if I agree with the issue in regards to swearing for the simple reason I haven?t really seen very much that was excessive or redundant. Though to be honest I haven?t seen anywhere near as much as those who have been a member longer. I?m simply going off of what I?ve seen so far. I do agree with the part about the ratings being confusing. And even if others are merely using the M rating to cover all eventualities due to others being a part of their RPG and not knowing what they intend to write. I can see how having so many rated that way would give the wrong impression as to what the RPG really is about. Or that there isn?t much in there that isn?t explicit. I?ve only been here a short time, but within very little time it became apparent that the ratings didn?t give any indication as to what one should expect. At least for the M rating as I?ve looked at a few that didn?t have any reasons for being rated that way. They did have occasional violence, language and implications of sex, but not intensely graphic. Seems like clearing up the confusion in regards to the ratings is what really needs to be fixed. Though seeing what others have said I'm not sure how you would go about that, only that I agree that it's not working as it was probably intended to.
 9.
Oh, come now! Fully preventable and reactionary sectarian violence is always a good time. And it's must easier to make a martyr out of a man who supposedly died for a cause as opposed to being captured and imprisoned. I mean, there weren't riots until he was hanged, right?
I don't know about it being a good time, or that making a martyr out of someone who died for a cause vs. life imprisonment is easier for one than the other. In declaring them a martyr that is. In the end regardless if he is in prison or dead, someone can take that and use it to fire up more violence. There may not have been riots before the hanging, but it's too soon to honestly say if they are going to continue or not. And if they had decided to put him away in a cell for life, people might have started riots over keeping him detained instead of setting him free. It's easy to think the other solution would have worked better when it was never implemented. Which is why I said there would be BS issues whether or not he was Dead or Alive. Personally I think he sort of earned the death penalty. He was responsible for a lot of chaos and people being killed.
 10. I?m more inclined to believe that fears aren?t so much ingrained but rather learned. Retribution put it well in how we are conditioned to associate certain things as being scary. There has been talk of fearing death, but I?m more inclined to believe that it?s a fear of the unknown and when it comes to the unknown, what happens after death is something everyone can relate to because at some point all of us are going to die. So it?s a common one in that all of us are going to go through it at one point. I believe BKstyles mentioned the unknown as well. About the only theory I don?t really agree with is the one presented here by Hanabishi Recca:
I believe that Satan made us have fear in some ways or another. He made us have anything bad. All Satan wants is to steal, kill, and destroy. Theres nothing else. I know some people have been frightend that they won't be able to pay the bills or their children have been afraid that they would go homeless. I've been there. I do believe that people need to fight that fear because other way, what are they going to do? Sit there and lose? Satan has been working with human beings for a long time now. So, he knows what can scare us. He knows how our minds work (most of the time). Unless we use some thoughts that are positive. His job is to make us fail. With most people he wins.
For the simple reason I don?t think it?s possible for something to force one to be afraid. [strike]And because I don?t believe in religion, but that?s another topic.[/strike] If Satan were real he would strike me as someone who is supremely stupid and inept. Not someone capable of truly terrifying others.
 11. What is it? SunfallE Why is it Nifty? From helping me with all my questions when I first joined, to her polite and friendly manner on the boards, to teaching me how to use one of the most wonderful functions on the forum. Namely the ignore feature. She is definitely one nifty lady. What is it? The staff Why is it Nifty? They keep the place from falling apart and do it with unmistakable flair. From Charles with his pictures and unique humor to Panda with her more motherly touch, all of them are quite nifty. What is it? Aaryanna_Mom Why is it Nifty? In addition to contributing to various threads with insightful comments she has an unmistakable motherly air about her and a no nonsense approach with her opinions. And when it?s all said and done, I find myself wishing she were my mother. So she?s definitely quite nifty. What is it? Otakupedia Why is it Nifty? Because not only does it show how diverse a history this site has, it?s a great place for new members to learn about some of the fun and wacky things this site has seen over the years.
 12. I can't say that I'm upset over Saddam being executed. I haven't watched the video in question, but I would imagine that no matter how he was dealt with, those who don't believe in the death penalty are going to object regardless of how the deed was done. The one thing I do know, provided all the information we've been told about him is correct, is that if those who executed him feel his punishment fit the crime then it's not my place to tell them how they can or can't dispense what they consider to be justice. Though I?m sure others can argue that it was more politics than justice and on some level I would agree. Though I'm sure all the BS that's going to occur as a result won't be much fun. Especially since I don't think it was possible to deal with him without others finding a way to turn him into a martyr. Dead or Alive.
 13. Well now that I?m further into the game I find that I am still enjoying it. It does have its moments that are clichéd, but in spite of that I still find it fun to play. I ran into one character that I absolutely despised and that would be
Roger.
It didn?t take long for me to decide that he was one of the last people I would want in my group. So far the character I like the most is Cliff, but then that?s because so far he has the most amusing sayings in battle. Fayt and Nel tend to be on the boring side in that department. I like their special attacks though.
I have a small piece of advice for you. Your level and leveling up doesn't matter, what matters is the abilities you get. So be careful on that.
That?s what I?ve heard too from Crystia so I followed her advise and I went and picked up the guide to this game. Which actually looks like a pretty solid guide for a game. I?m getting the impression that when I really get into the customization and creation side of the game it?s going to end up being quite useful.
 14.
Ok. tThe truth is I'm so confused that My mind needed time to sort things out. And I told him he just had to do it But he kept asking. It all started with him asking why I was nervous being around my friends and him. I said That I felt alot of pressure and it made me uncomfortable. He said that he thought I had intimacy issues from the beginning and now he knows for sure. Things didn't get better and he started to complain and get frustrated. It made me feel bad. I beleived what He told me because I didn't know what to think. So I sought help. And no we did't fight.
Ah I see, so it started as an initial question that spiraled into a greater misunderstanding. One where you believed what he told you. And perhaps you do have intimacy issues. Or, again since I don't know the whole story, perhaps you felt uncomfortable since he was trying to move a little to quick for you. Either way, I'd listen to NashvilleDream's advice and sit back and take a break from the dating scene, if only to sort through your own feelings as to why the last relationship had issues.
 15. 1- What day is your birthday? October 31, 1980 2- What is your zodiac sign? Scorpio 3- How does your zodiac sign describe your personality? How does your zodiac sign PWN over the rest?
Well I might think it pawned the rest if I actually believed that having a zodiac sign meant anything. lol
16.
Why in the sweet name of heaven would you want to do that?[/color']
I'll second that, I positively hate sites that do that and I'd clobber any of my friends who did the same thing with theirs. Do your friends a favor SKAngelDreamer and spare them those horrible popup boxes.
 17.
To say it has a detrimental effect on society or "dictates society's opinion on the internet" is beyond silly. Rather, it highlights what is already wrong by giving people yet another open, easily accessible and mass connected place to express themselves. Even then, one man's dirty shack is another man's palace - so what I consider wrong by stating the above could seem perfectly acceptable to another group.
Actually such a statement isn't silly at all. There's a certain amount of perception that the general public has about places like myspace and a lot of it is taken from what people see in the media and on the news. Especially for those people who are not members of the site. How many times have you heard someone bad mouth something and yet their only source was a snippet in the papper or the news? How many of them actually take the time to look into whether or not something actually is bad?
Also, please remember that myspace was launched in 2003... far from when the popularity of the internet skyrocketed. If a group of people can't read between the lines in sensationalist media, then there's no doubt myspace will contribute to their opinion (mentioning society as a whole entity is treading on thin ice considering the degree that opinions vary, isn't it?). But it's a country mile from what you make it out to be, since there's plenty else for them to go on and oodles of other stories and supposedly morally questionable things from the internet. Hope that made sense, it was hard to interpret and respond to what you'd written.
You've kind of missed the point, most parents and people who don't have a myspace account either don't know or don't care when myspace was launched. What they do care about, to give an example, is the news report done here in Salt Lake City last year about a teenager who was kidnapped and that the kidnapper found her due to the information on her myspace account. The news does give a generalized statement on how it's important to not put such information on your profile, but it still gives the impression that myspace is nothing but a hangout for predators. And as you so aptly put it:
This is just generalised gibberish. Or your opinion. Either way it has no foundation in fact, beyond the correct point that the media quite often lay into myspace when something 'socially unacceptable' happens there. As they do games, violent movies, music; rather than the parent who is doing a poor job, or the person who just has a few screws loose.
It?s not uncommon for the blame to be placed elsewhere instead of where it truly belongs. So it?s not complete gibberish but instead a fairly accurate observation of how people mistakenly assume a place like myspace is a representation of the Internet in general. The real gibberish is those people who are dumb enough to believe what they hear instead of looking into it and finding out for themselves just what the Internet really is, and myspace is just one tiny little part, that unfortunately gets media coverage instead of some of the more impressive things you can find online. So in the end myspace has a detrimental affect on society, though it's not of their own doing as society has willingly accepted the label that has been placed on them.
 18. Well I?m not underage but I don?t really care for alcohol. I?ve had it a few times, but I?m assuming it?s an acquired taste, as I never could seem to get use to it. I grew up in a household that never had any form of alcohol so even though I could have it once I moved out on my own, I just never did. My roommates like to drink, I couldn?t tell you what they do drink since I don?t really pay attention to the names on the cans or bottles. Though I assume the cans are some type of beer.
 19.
To Rachamanihoff and Tekkaman and, well, everybody else: In my opinion my actions speak better that my words, so if you want to evaluate how good I am as an Event Master, please concentrate more on the two events I've hosted.
That?s just it Sandy, this is a message board and a huge percent of what I see is words, and many of them show someone who can?t handle criticism very well. I don?t doubt that you are good at following up on things which is why I said you were well organized, but beyond that it really looks to me that criticism that is given to you that isn?t worded politely is ignored in favor of being upset that the person giving it was rude. And some of the examples from the beginning of this thread didn?t even seem all that rude to me either. So it left me wondering as to why you even got upset. I feel like even my input, which I tried to word politely, was ignored as well. In my opinion, actions and words should go hand in hand, especially on a message board, as it?s an environment where words are essential to everything going on. It?s not like other aspects of life where you don?t have to say anything and can simply do what needs to be done. I?ve no doubt that you?ve done a good job and that your actions speak well for you, but in the here and now of responding to criticism, most of which I felt was pretty open and nicely presented, you?ve pretty much lost any respect I might have had for you. Because it really sounds like you?re just throwing a temper tantrum instead of learning from what the others have to say.
 20. Is it suppose to be fun to beat up your own character? Hehe, because that was fun! :D I've no idea where we are going from here, but since the Crinsom is heading for Earth my objective is now completed. Though I assume it's okay to keep posting if you have other ideas to put into the story? Once someone else has posted that is since I don't want to double post. ;)
 21. So much for getting a bonus for delivering before the deadline, Darren thought as he sighed inwardly. Even though his ship was a smaller transport ship, he had modified it and installed automated loading and unloading equipment making the need for a full crew of twenty redundant. And then to make up for the expense, he had sixteen of the twenty quarters removed and changed into another area for storing cargo. No he thought with resignation, this is going to take hours and hours to scan each and every section of crystals. I?ll be lucky to break even after this delay. When they got to the point where the corridor branched in three directions, Jared sent Mike along with two of the security personal to the bridge with instructions to work with someone over at the Crimson on verifying the information in his main computer. Then showing that he had already looked at the layout of his ship, Jared took the lead with Darren and the security struggling to keep up. He went first to the modified section and then to the main hold to finish up. Ignoring Darren completely other than the occasional question or two. The whole experience was a bit surreal. Darren was use to working with inspection personal in the military that were to be frank inept. Taking hours to do what he could do in a fraction of the time. But Jared was another matter; he had never seen anyone as quick and as though as he was. If he were anyone else, Darren would have been impressed. The last check he had been required to go through had taken nearly half a day, Jared was close to wrapping up and it hadn?t even been three hours yet. It just didn?t add up. Usually someone with a reputation like he had was anything but efficient, depending upon their position to take advantage of others. It made him wonder if the rumors were actually true. Though the few times their eyes had met he had felt uneasy. I wonder how Mike is faring? He thought. His attention was brought back to the immediate present as Jared finished and after checking his handheld computer/communicator he contacted the Crimson, but Darren could not hear what was being said. Another few minutes reading something on his handheld and Jared ordered the others to take him to the bridge. Darren winced when their eyes met again. This time there was no mistaking it, he was annoyed. Darren didn?t get a chance to find out what had annoyed him since the security personal made it clear he was to go with them to the bridge immediately. The eerie silence as they walked through the corridors towards the bridge along with the faint clicks and jingles from their equipment as they walked was a bit unsettling. And when they walked into the bridge it got worse. Mike was sitting at the helmsman position at the front near the main viewer with the two other security personal standing behind him. Another person on the viewer was asking Mike questions that were obviously designed to catch him in a lie. They think we modified our clearance! Darren winced inwardly. I just hope Mike hasn?t said anything stupid. Mike tended to get flustered a little to easily and was fond of making cracks at the military in general. Something that could all to easily be taken out of context as it had happened in the past. The others turned to see who had entered and then went back to what they were doing. Darren took that as an indication that he was not needed and sat down in the other seat next to Mike. He didn?t have to wait long; Darren had only been on the bridge for ten minutes when Jared entered the bridge, his expression one of anger. Then without any form of explanation he ordered his men to arrest him and Mike. Darren stood up to protest only to halt at the look of fury in Jared?s eyes. But Mike didn?t even catch it, in a flash he was up and striding towards Jared. ?What the Hell?? Mike exclaimed his fists clenched in anger, ?We?re being arrested when it was your own damn military goons who screwed up our clearance?? Darren moved to stop Mike only to come up short at the sound of the security officers preparing to fire their disruptors. ?Mike!? He said through clenched teeth. ?Shut up!? Mike turned to look back at Darren. ?Shut up? You?re telling ME to shut up?? Mike asked with disbelief. ?If anyone needs to shut up it?s these damn stuck up pigs who think they can walk all over anyone they please!? ?You?re not helping things Mike!? Darren barked. ?That?s enough!? Mike stood there stunned at being ordered by Darren to shut up. But when the closest security guard took that as an indication of surrender and reached out to take Mike?s arm, Mike instinctively turned and slugged him in the face, knocking him down. Reaction to Mike?s attack was swift as the other guards mowed him down before he could react; the effect of the stun blast knocked him off his feet and into Darren. Instinctively he caught him and then let go as two of the guards came forward and took Mike?s unconscious body from him. Darren narrowed his eyes in anger; ?Just what are we under arrest for sub-commander. I?ve done everything you?ve asked and complied with all the necessary rules and regulations pertaining to my cargo. You owe me an explanation.? Jared walked over until he was standing less than a foot from Darren. Without warning he punched Darren hard in the stomach knocking the breath out of him. He started to buckle over from the pain only to be brought up short by Jared grabbing him by the neck with his right hand and his shirt with his left hand, pulling his face towards his until they were mere inches apart. ?You are in a restricted area Commander,? he said icily. ?The moment you crossed that line you lost any rights to an explanation.? He paused a moment as Darren gasped for air and then let go only to punch him in the stomach again, ignoring Darren?s grunt of pain as he fell to the floor. ?Your clearance was obtained by someone hacking into the system and not though one of those stuck up pigs as your fellow crewmember so colorfully put it. By law I could execute you right now, but instead I?m taking your sorry ass along with that fool you call Mike with us.? Darren tried to get up only to have Jared backhand him into the console behind him. He slid to the floor on his left side half curled up into a fetal position fighting to stay conscious. He had been in a few fights in his life, but no one had ever hit him so hard before. He could see Jared?s boots as he walked towards where he was lying on the floor. He cringed and closed his eyes expecting the worst. ?The next time you open that pretty mouth of yours, you would do well to remember to think first.? Jared said coldly. ?I intend to get to the bottom of this and see who is truly responsible, any further outbursts from Mike or stupid demands for explanations will not be tolerated.? Darren opened his eyes again when he heard Jared moving away from him and breathed a sigh of relief. He could taste blood in his mouth where he had accidentally bitten the side of his cheek when Jared had backhanded him. He was wondering what to do next when Jared beat him to it. ?Put him in with the other one.? Jared ordered his men. Darren offered no resistance when they came over to get him.
 22. I've always understood that so long as you are under 18 your parents make the choice, however, I've also heard of parents going back to court to change the custody. So I would recommend calling a law office that deals with custody cases, many of them offer initial advise for free, and see if it's even possible to get it changed if your father is willing to do so. Or they might know if at that age your mom can decide for you or not. And since many states vary on the actual law in regards to custody, a law firm would be the best place to find some answers since they will know what those laws are for where you live.
 23. I?m glad that 2006 is done and over with. The year started out great but then a car accident that resulted in my right leg being broken in a couple of places put the whole thing out of whack for quite a while. Now that I?m back to getting around again, I?m looking forward to being able to do all the things I missed out on last year, like hiking, playing the cello (which is pretty damn hard to do when you?re wearing a cast) and all sorts of great stuff. I?m also kind of excited since I?m close enough that I just might manage to get my masters degree this year, if not definitely the first semester of next year.
 24.
Certain drugs allow for stunning spiritual experiences which can change a person's life for the better if they approach these drugs with the correct mindset and a desire to come to a greater understanding of the great depthless unknown. They should however be used very cautiously and with great respect to the plants which the drugs may come from, as well as a respect for the powers of the chemicals one is willing to consume in order that one may sail upon the sea of their salient consciousness and expand their consciousness.
Did I hear you correctly in that drugs allow for stunning spiritual experiences? What?s spiritual about a substance that chemically alters the way your body experiences things? I see nothing spiritual about that, only a blind foolishness in thinking chemical reactions due to taking drugs can somehow connect you with that which is spiritual when in reality it?s disconnecting you from how your body is designed to work.
The fact is that few have the discipline or the correct mindset to use drugs in a way that is beneficial. But if they are used in this way, great ideas can be thought of, and great progressions in mankind's future can be put into execution. It is no indecent stretch of the truth to state that drugs are responsible for many great things. It is also no indecent stretch of truth to state they have done many terrible things; however, in the end it wasn't the drug which did this, but the human being--in both cases.
Discipline or mindset is irrelevant. If you take enough chemicals you are going to get a certain reaction, how else would drugs be useful otherwise? If people had to have a mindset or discipline to get an intended effect, there wouldn?t be any point in having drugs since the results of using them would be all over the chart. They would cease to have any true value at this point. Sure drugs are responsible for great things, like laws to keep them out of the hands of idiots who would use them for the high and not some spiritual trip.
It is all about your willingness to be something more than a pre-programmed entity. There is good within you all, waiting access and waiting to rewrite you. What's funny is that of the drugs that are legal, they are the ones which access the more primitive aspects of our consciousness. This seems to get us stuck in a type of maddening status quo of endless addiction in order to disassociate ourselves from the many terrible things in existence as well as what is lacking in our societies. This leads to a pandemic of problematics which aren't attempted to be changed. Instead, people are content with their places in a caste system, and happy under the illusion of endless separation.
This gives the impression that you are saying that in order to get out of following the rest of humanity like blind sheep, we should be experimenting with drugs so we can open up our minds to greater things and spiritual experiences. And if that?s not what you are trying to say, then quit talking over everyone like a professor and use simple plain English so others can understand what you really mean.
These plants, when consumed, create stunning effects. These plants are wise creatures, who have a symbiotic bond with us here on earth, and are reflections of us as we are reflections of them. By putting their "consciousnesses" (if we could even call it that) within us, we learn much, and are wisened much. That these things exist which open the doors of our perceptions is no coincidence. It is actually a coincidance.
Okay now your saying that by consuming plants we are putting their consciousness inside us? Now I know you?re just full of it. I?ll probably get roasted by the mods (my apologies to all of you) for this, but behind all this pseudo-intellectual babble is someone who in my opinion is trolling the boards with this nonsense, which looks like nothing more than a fancy way of saying getting high is a good thing.
 25. And here I thought people objected due to the witchcraft and wizardry aspect of the series. There wasn't as much of an uproar about it where I live. Utah may be a Christian state, but it's not quite as hard-core as some of the Bible belt states in the USA. I mean those backwards idiots tried to ban Barney because he would say lets do magic instead of lets pretend! Besides not all parents are convinced that Harry Potter is evil, mine have a copy of all of the books and movies out and I know of others who like it as well.
