I usually leave my computer running 24/7, but I also often have it doing stuff overnight. I use the late night/early morning hours when no one else is using the net connection to download large files, or set up video to encode while I sleep. It's actually harder for me to sleep at night without the background noise of my computer's fans, now.
When I was writing up this thread for posting, the thought crossed my mind that you, of all people, would be one who leaves it running all the time. =P But like you said, it's actually doing something so that at least makes sense.

I was just noticing that Shy's spam fest was up to 100 pages. lol :catgirl: And yes I used the catgirl emote. Shut up. It's cute.
Confession ? Since when do commonly accepted facts require a confession ? The Johnny Bravo avatars weren't just for lulz you know.
Oh right, it's common knowledge that you're a pervert, my bad. =P
Ceiling Cat is the only deity worthy of your faith, all others are but pretenders seeking to claim his glories for their own.
You do realize that Ceiling Cat considers Basement Cat her personal perch and Indi one of her most beloved followers... right?
I do not lurk. I watch, and I am always watching.
So is this a confession? As in you're saying... "hey guys, I'm a pervert!" *ducks*
Those of you who spend time in chat will know what this refers too. TU~U~URNING TO DI-GI-TAL GOLD-FISH TO~O~O SAVE THE DI-GI-TAL world No one was talking for 10 whole seconds... OH ZEH NOES! *snerks*
You totally ripped that from the Basement Cat. =P It is pretty accurate and amusing though. lol @Korey: I think that's a given, that people keep getting stranger. lol

I've always considered texting while driving a bad idea. The few times that I do drive, I always ignore my phone. I figure it's just not worth the potential problems that can occur, like this deal here: Cops: Texting, talking tow-trucker hits car, pool It's pretty easy to do around town since most trips in the car are pretty short, it's only when I'm off on a long trip that I'm more tempted to actually answer a call. In cases like that, I'll actually turn my phone off so I can't get a call. Mainly because I agree with this paticular article here: Hey stupid! Drop the cell phone and drive So what about the rest of you? Do you use that phone while your driving? Or do you turn it off instead?
-
The title is pretty self explanatory. Are you one of those people who never turn it off or do you essentially pull the plug when you leave for school, work or turn in to get some sleep? I always find it a little odd to see that people have been logged into a service like AIM for days instead of mere hours. I'm certain they wandered off to get some sleep at one point but it still seems weird to see. For myself, I tend to not leave it running if I'm not around or I'm doing other stuff. It just seems wasteful to use the power if I'm not around. So what about the rest of you? Do you leave it on most of the time or do you only turn it on when you're going to be using it? What are your computer habits? =P Oh and before I forget, you can blame Gavin for this thread, since he's one of the people I've seen listed on AIM for days lately. Get some sleep already dude. lol

I just love waking up early on a Saturday when I don't need to. It's even more fun when I'm too awake to fall back asleep. Oh joy. [/sarcasm]

I find this terribly amusing. I may not care for her music, but I don't think she sucks nor do I care that it gets played on the radio. After all, they do have more than one station for a reason. *snerk*

So which is it? First you say people aren't discussing the topic, though you only had two replies... and now we don't get you being sarcastic? :blulaugh: Here, enjoy some music and chillax. =P Poker Face Apparently this song has been changed so ALL versions at youtube won't embed. feh

Gates Acted Stupidly: Racism Or Honesty?
Rachmaninoff replied to Raiha's topic in General Discussion
That's an awesome comic, Allamorph. :animesmil -
And here I don't like futons either. I've yet to see one that was reasonably comfortable. It's better than the floor, but not by much.

Gates Acted Stupidly: Racism Or Honesty?
Rachmaninoff replied to Raiha's topic in General Discussion
Oh I know, perish the thought that they pick a beer based on whether or not they like how it tastes vs where it was actually made. lol -
From what I've seen, I don't think she is a transvestite, but as James said, even if she was, why would anything need to change? She's already established under that name so it would be counter productive to suddenly change it. I may not be a fan of her music, but if she turned out to be what the gossip indicates, it doesn't really change anything in my opinion.

Gates Acted Stupidly: Racism Or Honesty?
Rachmaninoff replied to Raiha's topic in General Discussion
I just think it's rather sad that people always pull the racism card. I wish I could do that.
I agree. Kind of stupid really. Also, I'm now laughing at people whining because the supposed get together which is talked about in this article here: Not a summit, just a beer, Obama says Apparently doesn't include American made beer.
Jim Koch, Boston-based brewer of "Samuel Adams" beer, laments to CNBC over the fact that no American-owned beers will be featured at Obama's "beer summit."
Honestly, people are just dumb. There doesn't need to be representation or some other crap in every single thing surrounding the President. -

Gates Acted Stupidly: Racism Or Honesty?
Rachmaninoff replied to Raiha's topic in General Discussion
For a brief moment Gavin, I thought it was referring to Bill Gates as well. =P But that didn't make any sense so I found an article on it. Then my reaction was... who? Since I'm not familiar with the other guy. -
I've heard of places where someone had a lot of animals in there, but nothing like this. 150 dead dogs found in freezers at Mich. home They found 150 dead dogs packed in freezers and rescued about 110 live dogs. o_O

Gates Acted Stupidly: Racism Or Honesty?
Rachmaninoff replied to Raiha's topic in General Discussion
So it boils down to were the police out of line to even dare him to ask for an ID? Should we expect police to know the faces and names of every person who lives in an area that they patrol? Should they have simply not worried about two men trying to get into a house with limited success?
I think it's a given that asking for ID is acceptable and knowing who everyone is in their area is unreasonable.
I find our president saying because he knew Gates it was all the police's fault to be appalling and a complete abuse of his position. He should've stayed out of this and just let the situation resolve itself without feeling the need to jump out there and exacerbate the situation and piss off anyone who can think at least a little logically. Or at least not rush to condemnation before all the facts are in.[/left']
Complete abuse of power to have an opinion? Rubbish. Obama, like everyone else, is human. Expecting him to be politically correct every moment of the day is rather absurd really. However, my understanding is that he already commented on this event: Obama Tries to Calm Debate Over Gates Arrest I think it just shows that like any president, he's not perfect and will make mistakes or respond to things in a manner that will cause problems. -
No it isn't. She was old. Older animals (humans included) are more prone to stuff like this with age. Plus she was a toy Chihuahua. Can't stand them in the first place. Always wanted to run over to the set where they filmed the blamed commercials and punt the thing clear to Wisconsin.
I said it was a shame, not a tragedy or terrible. Because like you said, she was old. =P So yes, it is a shame, but it's also to be expected.
Sorry, but I'm not sure what you're referring to with "that was the parents though". If you mean the TV thing, then the article pretty plainly states that the kid was apparently able to do that.
It means exactly what I said. It was the parents who said he could do it. If he has a mental disorder then it means in some area's he isn't quite there mentally, like other people are. It doesn't also mean he's automatically unable to do other things, like fix a TV. Plus, for all we know the stuff he was fixing was simple issues. So to say he couldn't be that smart... Well I think you get the picture. It's making fun of his supposed intelligence instead of acknowledging that he has a genuine medical issue. Anyway, I kind of wonder, like Delta, why the parents waited so long to get him checked. Though for all we know they did and the kid just kept getting into it anyway.
