Funtime Thread of Humor and Mirth (and Junk.)
Rachmaninoff replied to The Spectacular Professor's topic in General Discussion
Fair warning, some might find this video freaky and disturbing instead of fun. o_O I'm kind of going back and forth between freaky and interesting... Think Halloween when you think of potentially disturbing and you'll get what I mean. Anyway, watch at your own risk. -
the Czenovian crew has my blessing to land safely[/U'] at Vosper. I imagine they'll stumble across the Hidden Valley as well, since I would prefer they stay away from the Anovans. Just seeing Bavaria try and deal with the cold should be entertaining enough.
I love how you word things. Just remember guys, we landed safely too. So you know Shy is going to give your party grief as well. =P At least it's unlikely to be what the Anovans are stuck in... o_O I think that would freak me out, seriously.
I didn't mention a thread - I talked about the coverage here in Australia (specifically the evening TV shows). It was wall-to-wall for a while, which is lame even for our local news. Haha. In any case, I certainly do think that this is newsworthy... it just falls into a different category than regular news. Obviously you posted it because it was extraordinary and there's nothing wrong with that. :catgirl: So yeah, I didn't mean to imply that the thread itself is wrong at all. It's a weird story and, frankly, it's entertaining for a lot of people...and it raises a lot of questions too. I actually just found it kind of funny that it's turned up here so long after the event. I even remember discussing the story at work a few months back. :animeswea
Oh, okay. o_O I was trying to find the thread when your comment of here, was for your actual location not the site here. lol I was kind of feeling stupid that I missed it since I try to keep up with everything that gets posted in this section. Anyway when it comes to news, I tend to stick to the regular news and for the most part, the sites I frequent don't cover this kind of thing a lot. It's probably why I missed seeing this. I found out from a random comment on someone's blog and went... wait, what? So I looked it up. ^^ Hmmm if you got that much coverage, you're probably sick of hearing about it. I think I would be tired of it too if that had been the case here. I wouldn't say it's entertaining though. More like it raises questions since this isn't a topic that I talk about, if at all.
I really can't say that I care what they're doing. But the simple fact that they HAD a child means they most likely against abortion. Not to start that debate up because I'm not saying I am or am not against it, but if you don't agree with abortions and you're in a sexual relationship with a blood relative, then you need to be fixed....in the sexual way not in the head way. Just my two cents.....
Considering the genetic issues with inbreeding, if you're going to insist on something like this, then yeah, I'd have to agree.
Still, I also think part of my reaction comes from the fact that this story was being repeated ad-nauseum months ago here... so it's sort of like seeing a fly you thought you'd swatted months ago. :catgirl:
I'd be curious to see the thread you're alluding to. Since I don't recall seeing one here at all in the past few months. It might be old news to you since you live in Australia, but it's not something I've been running into. Also... *laughs at Allamorph's typical dismissal of a thread that required no response at all*

I read this article this morning and all it did was make me feel slightly ill. Australia incest pair in TV plea Basically, a father, who was gone for a long time, upon meeting his daughter again, ended up having an adult relationship with her. Seriously, wtf? Now I'm sure this kind of thing happens more than you see in the news but still, I have to wonder just what in the hell is wrong with someone when they don't end something like this. Just as I wonder what's wrong with them for starting it to begin with. What kind of father or daughter for that matter, would find getting close like that acceptable? I can kind of understand that the father and daughter were separated for a long time but if the article is to believed, they know they're related and yet they still insist in having a sexual relationship. They've even had a daughter that died from congenital heart disease shortly after birth. o_O
-
Okay, I've read it like three times and I didn't see anything saying the parent couldn't afford her medicine for epilepsy. The only thing I saw was that she had been in the hospital because of it. Just as I also found one that said the father was going to have some surgery to help but can't because of a heart condition. I'm sure it doesn't help that they're lifestyle is one of not getting around, but at least the parents do sound like the have legitimate health issues. So losing weight isn't a guarantee that they'd suddenly be able to work. I do agree with the sentiment that the daughter could do something about the weight, but I imagine it's not that easy. She's used to her current lifestyle. Also, I kind of agree about the money issue. That should be more than enough to live on.

Just another little something that was forwarded to me. How to tell if your cat is plotting to kill you... -
Do you only comment on spectacular work that actually moves you, or inspires you? It varies, I tend to comment if I find it interesting, not because it's spectacular. Do you comment if its of your favorite characters? (Sometimes regardless of skill or effort.) That doesn't really come into play. It still has to be interesting. Do you comment on things only when you feel the person deserves it? What do you mean by deserve? If I actually take the time to comment, I'm not worrying if they deserve it or not. Do you comment, because the person/artist is popular? I would say no, but sometimes that does put their work on the front page at theO and therefore, more noticeable. I don't know if that means their popular or not though and even still, I rarely comment anyway. Or maybe just to up your post count? :P Now that is something I don't do. =P All you have to do is look over at theO to see my comment count isn't all that high. lol Here is another story, though the intent wasn't to increase post count. lol However, I live here it seems like. *headdesk* Do you feel discouraged if the person posting writing is better than you? Nope. If anything, it's nice to talk to someone who doesn't use abbreviated Internet speech. I find that kind of annoying if there is too much of it. Do you feel discouraged if you see work from a professional writer on the site in question, or if you feel the writing is 'too good'? Nope, no discouragement. Depending on what they have written, I like seeing that since I can learn from it. Or, do you find that you don't like the subject material? I don't dislike something just because it's well written. Not liking the subject material would be just that, something I find uninteresting to read. Or perhaps you really just can't be bothered to type out a reply? That would be more accurate. =P I see plenty of things that are interesting and yet I never get around to commenting on it.

I'm sure you all already knew we're a nation of potty mouths. =P But if this article is to be believed, it's on the rise. Recession F-bombs: Why swearing feels great I won't try and pretend that I don't swear from time to time. However I was raised in an environment where it was, and still is, heavily discouraged. So I tend to not swear very often. I may not swear much myself, but unless It's like they explain in the article here:
“Obviously there’s a wrong time and wrong place for swearing,” says psychotherapist Irwin. “You don’t want to swear in court or around children or on TV. You don’t want to swear at a business meeting or when you’re asking for a raise or when the police pull you over for a ticket. And you never want to be verbally abusive.” Outside of that, though, Irwin says she’s a big fan of swearing as a way to defuse anger — unless cussing is all a person does. “If you can’t get through one paragraph without swearing, then you need to get a dictionary and starting expanding your vocabulary,” she says. “It might also be a red flag that you have some anger issues that you need to get a grip on.”
Then I usually don't care if someone else does. Obviously it depends on the situation. If I'm seeing an R rated movie, then to not expect it is just stupid really. Just as one would expect to not hear it in say a church setting. =P So... What about the rest of you? Do you find yourself using swear words more now, especially with how the economy is having so many issues? Or has it stayed the same? I don't think I swear any more than I used to. But I haven't been counting either.

I looked up the article and there are a couple of questions it doesn't answer. For example, it doesn't say whether or not this employee had a history or not. At first glance firing him seems extreme, but what if this was not the first time he'd done this? I'd like to know more before I say it's absurd that he was fired. Also, I agree with Nerdsy. If people can just take it from the trash, you know they'll not bother to pay for the food. And you know that some of them will just accidentally drop it on the floor themselves.
(Honestly, it's probably a good thing I haven't read the original yet. Helps me think like Ivan a bit more, being so naive. :animesmil)
Enjoy being naive while it lasts. :blulaugh: Because later, poor Ivan is going to wish he didn't know what was going on. So many Almagest's are nuttier than all get out. Also, perhaps someone could clarify this bit for me:
Much to the annoyance of her former step-mother[/FONT']
Did I somehow miss Leonhart and Bavaria getting divorced?
1.) I wish you would no longer grant wishes. My wish is not retroactive.
Why am I not surprised that you would end all wishes? =P Though if one thinks about it and how people's wishes would conflict, in the long run, that would be the best approach. Less chaos that way.

Juste didn?t miss the cold, but in no time, the tropical heat had him sweating and he shifted his pack so he could remove the knee length cape of his cleric uniform. He added it to the bundle that was his heavier coat and continued on with Felix. It was hard to keep up since he had no training like the guards did. Juste was fit, but the uneven terrain, hot humid temperature and lingering dizziness from the fall were working against him. It didn?t help that they kept running into all sorts of wild animals. Some of them he knew were harmless but others, he had never seen before. It kept him on edge and the constant vigilance was wearing him out. Felix seemed to be unconcerned but Juste imagined it was because he at least knew what was dangerous and what was not. Also, Felix knew how to use that saber and gun of his where Juste had no idea how to use the gun he had been given. He knew the principle behind it, but he had never handled or fired one before. Most clerics hadn?t. There wasn?t a need for them to know how. He motioned to Felix that he needed to pause for a moment. Felix obliged him while he leaned against one of the trees to catch his breath. ?Do you think the others are okay?? He asked Felix once he had rested for a few minutes. ?There?s no need to worry,? Felix assured him. ?Jace and Gerald will see to the Priestess? safety.? Juste took another deep breath and nodded before he straightened up and pushed away from the tree he had been resting against. ?I hope we find them soon.? He didn?t want to be stuck in this place and didn?t bother to voice the concern that there was no way out of the valley they had fallen into. There had to be a spot that wasn?t a cliff so people could leave. So far, all they had seen was nothing but more and more trees. The only thing he could clearly see was the metal spires sticking up above the trees. ?Don?t worry, we will.? Felix said confidently. ?How can you be so sure?? ?I?m not.? He replied. ?But there is no point in worrying over something like that. Right now we need to focus on where we are and finding a means to figure out which direction they?ll come from.? How they were going to do that with their instruments broken Juste didn?t know but he was sure Felix would figure it out. He shook his head a bit and focused on the metal spire they were approaching instead. It was easily the same size as several tree trunks at the base. It slowly tapered off and narrowed as it reached towards the sky. There was something odd about it that he couldn?t quite make out as they approached. It wasn?t until they were almost upon it that he realized what it was. There were circular rings of symbols engraved into the metal. Three rows of them about a foot apart at the base. A few more steps and he stopped, staring at them in surprise. ?What is it cousin?? Felix asked when he realized Juste had come to a halt. ?Those symbols?? He looked from the metal spire over to where Felix was standing. ?They?re in the language of the Xear.?

No money, no more wishes... Okay, just one thing then. I'll wish for the knowledge to build something high tech. Like a holographic program or space ship or something. Then I'll turn around and sell the technology and get the rest of what I want that way. =P I'll save the other two wishes for a rainy day.
Know what I miss? Being a semi-invisible member on here. Why didn't I take the Blue pill?
Makes you realize just how dumb you were since you didn't take the right color yes? I mean I've only been here just over two years and yet it feels like forever on account of not being semi-invisible. XP Oh well, at least I can say it's been fun. ^^

Have fun Shy. Don't get too wasted. =P I don't have huge plans for this evening. The only thing I'm doing is getting together with some of my friends to play games. We'll probably end up playing something like Diablo II. There's a good chance some of them will get plastered though. Any time we get together like that, they usually do.

My quote that I find important is my custom title because it's utterly true.
Without music, life is a mistake.
I can do without a lot of things, but I'd rather not do without music.
I don't see where that comes from at all, but maybe I'm missing something. Several players have been quick to hate her since day one.
Actually Beth's and I's previous characters didn't hate her at all. Not in the truest sense like some of Leonhart's kids. It was circumstances, Alecia feeling out of sorts (among other things) and they made up before the first installment ended. o_O Obviously our new characters don't dislike her either. If anything, as outsiders, in that they aren't a part of the drama of either family, they probably see her for what she is, a talented diplomat.

xxxscenekidxxx, when there's already a thread right on the main page, that is the same topic, just post in the existing thread instead of making a new one. It's usually a good idea to check the first page or two before making a new thread. So with that in mind, I've merged your thread with the existing one on this topic.
My character gave the order to massacre a defeated fleet of enemies, killed his brother in a duel and now creates weapons for sale to any country with the cash; playing the morality/conscience card mightn't be an effective move Malkav. :p
So what your basically saying is all we have to do is get rid of Dawlish and everyone can live happily ever after right? Right? RIGHT!!! :D *pokes everyone* You guys and your uber silly posturing. =P All joking aside... o_O Figures Beth would be right about you messing up our group Shy. I'll have to see about getting a post up on that in the next couple of days. And yes, nice work with the first post James, looks great.
All kidding aside I'm not in the least bit superstitious so Friday the 13th doesn't dampen my mood to enjoy the weekend any more than a Friday the 12th or 14th. Students post videos of brawls online
Rachmaninoff replied to Rachmaninoff's topic in General Discussion
Why I do agree that the people fighting and posting are the main problem, i don't agree youtube shouldn't be at fault. If they claim not to have the personel to keep up with the videos, then they probably should work out a better system then allow people to just "vote them off the youtube". Of course I could rant on and on about what I think they should do, but it wouldn't serve much purpose. Just that there are things a multi-billion dollar company can do in order to fix this problem themselves rather then allow a group of children rate other children's videos....
Well when I said feasible, I meant just that. I imagine it's a matter of cost, of just how much money it would take to have enough staff to keep up. You can only do so much before you end up being unable to afford running your site anymore. Also, what things can they do? Ultimately the ones choosing to fight are the kids. I'm of the opinion that up to a point, people don't need the big brother approach of someone monitoring every little move they make. There's really no need to restrict all the kids as you put it just because a small percentage of them are too stupid to behave. -
Obviously I did enjoy it enough to make playing it again worthwhile.
Same here, as annoying and whiny as Luke got, it's not anywhere near enough to keep me from playing it again. It's certainly a lot more fun with the bonus stuff you can buy with the grade you earned the first time through. Like double experience and money. Last time getting money was just a royal pain in the butt until I got something you can equip to increase it by 50%. So to have more upfront removes one of the biggest irritations I had the first time around. The same with the experience. Though to counter that a little I do have it set to hard instead of normal. The first time through I avoided the side quests since they're often harder than the final boss so this time I plan on catching them all. Though that means I should look into a guide before I get too far along and miss out. That would kind of suck if I had to start over again. ^^
