I'm in agreement with Gavin. Seriously, I think any woman in her right mind would never use YouTube to find a donor. That's just.... o_O WTF-inducing really. Though it's equally WTF-inducing that guys are advertising themselves in this manner. I know I sure as hell wouldn't. All I can do is shake my head at this. I shouldn't be surprised by it, but damn if that isn't one of the stupidest things I've read in a long time.

Students post videos of brawls online
Rachmaninoff replied to Rachmaninoff's topic in General Discussion
I really believe that those who upload the videos and who engage in the fights hold the ultimate responsibility. And I really hate to see the buck being passed in that sense - it isn't YouTube's fault that people are stupid and violent, for instance.
I agree, YouTube isn't the problem so much as it is the people fighting and posting the videos. Like Beth pointed out, right now YouTube has too much content being uploaded to fully monitor it. Plus, I don't know how feasible it would be to attempt to do so. And since that's the case, you gotta love the irony of something like this: 3 students charged in connection with video of fight posted on YouTube As sad as it is that the kids are doing crap like that, it is fitting to see them get in trouble for it. -
I'll likely be writing the introduction post to Vosper, I just want to talk to Sunfall or Rach first.
Since Beth already posted, I'm going to assume that you will be posting next and hold off on adding anything. I'm sure you have pretty specific ideas as to what the Vosper summit is like so once you've posted, I'll go from there. Also, like Beth, I'm wondering what kind of mischief you have in mind. =P
I also have to agree with Rach about knowing said people's interests. Don't want to take any chances on bringing people in on action if you know they're into the lovey dovey romance stuff.
Exactly. One of my friends tried that, using NGE, even though he knew I'm not into depressing psychological trips. His reasoning being since it was his favorite I would like it too. And then he couldn't and wouldn't understand why I didn't like it. Where Indi started me out of stuff she was pretty sure I would like. I shudder to think of what my impression of anime would have been if NGE was my first real exposure. It's tempting to want to use your favorite shows, but better to try and use something that they're more likely to enjoy. ^^

You remind me, red tigress, of how the redeads always creeped me out in the Zelda games. o_O The ones that latch onto you and about suck you dry. I remember how much those always creeped me out when they'd screech and freeze you in place.
You have been designated Fair Game.
Well at least the title of the song gave it away right? ^^
It wasn't really annoying so much as it was actually painful to listen to. I clenched my teeth through the entire thing. Yes. Entire[/I'] thing. I have accepted and completed your challenge. What do I win?
Hunh, and since it was so awful, I couldn't help but laugh at it. So, what do you win... How about a cookie? *gives you one* Anyway... I'm sure you all have heard of this before. Students recording fights so they can later post them on youtube for their fifteen minutes of fame. Or in an attempt to get more lasting fame than that. Students post videos of brawls online Now I know a lot of schools have moved to banning such videos that occur on campus, and I certainly agree with that. Fighting on campus is just plain stupid in my opinion. Though doing so elsewhere seems pretty stupid to me as well. So what do all of you think? Are fights like this a problem where you live? Do you think they're stupid or would you be the one fighting or perhaps holding the camera recording it? I know if it was me, I'd be putting an end to the fight. It's not like you can't take up learning how to do boxing or some form of martial arts so brawling like that is just pointless in my opinion.

I can about guarentee I wouldn't end up listening to it otherwise. lol Anyway it's twenty minutes long and though it's supposed to be the most annoying song ever, it's actually pretty funny to listen too. I don't know if I could tolerate it again, but the opera rapping was hilarious. =P So give it a listen if you want something to laugh at.
First of all this thread is slightly reminiscent of that younger member who was spreading the WWE stuff all throughout the boards.
I believe this is the thread you're thinking about. Which wrestling Factions was or still is your favorite(s)? I don't recall if they're are more (though I'm sure there is) and I'm too lazy to look. =P Anyway, unless I'm mistaken, what you're basing the persona on is aired on Television. So with that in mind, I'm thinking it's better suited to Sight & Sound so I'm going to shuffle it over there. I'd try to answer the thread topic, but I don't follow any form of wrestling at all. o_O

Knowing their interests is really key to introducing someone. I never watched much, if any, anime until a few years ago when one of my friends (looks at Indi) decided that I needed to branch out. It probably didn't help that I'd tease her about it. So I ended up watching Fruits Basket. Mainly since she was pretty certain I'd like it and she was right. I'm still not a major fan, far from it, but it still lead to here and picking up other shows from time to time. But yeah, like Miss A just said. A good dub (subbing is nice and all but I think in your own language lets people really get into it instead of being distracted by needing to read), something that isn't totally whack and definitely watch out for things they wouldn't like.

I've heard about this, but since any stuff I get is purchased online, I don't know if they are doing the sale here or not. It is a shame that they are cutting back, but if they're not getting much in the way of sales, can you really blame them? Also, I just looked at that list Des linked too, looks like a number of stores in the surrounding towns is having the sale but not the one closest to where I live. Ironically, I never shop at the place. o_O
Ahhh the frustration that comes with EVERY RPG at some place. What is worse is that it's NEVER the final boss that gives you so much trouble.
So true. I'm reminded of Abyssion in Tales of Symphonia. He's such a pain to beat that by the time you get to the real boss at the end, you're just disappointed that they're so easy to beat in comparison. I've gotten where I won't do side quests like that the first time through, so they can't spoil that oh sh**! feeling the final boss invokes when they start pulling out the fancier moves. I ended up being overpowered for Star Ocean: Till the End of Time though. Everyone was going on and on about how hard the final boss was, so I took the time to customize good weapons. Net result, I clobbered the final boss in less than five minutes. Took the fun out of it really.

What did you want to be when you grew up?
Rachmaninoff replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in General Discussion
I can remember a few things that I thought I wanted to do when I grew up. I had moments where I wanted to be a lawyer or a cop. When I was eight I started taking music lessons and by the time I hit twelve I decided that was what I wanted to do. I was going to either perform or teach music. My parents thought it was a phase I would grow out of, but I never did. =P -
Well, that's all from me, guys. Heh. What'd you think of the big reveal? :p Oh, and Kathy, ma'am, probably the reason this bit has felt kind of familiar to you is because I pulled the concept straight from The Cardinal of the Kremlin, one of Tom Clancy's novels. I encountered that technique for the first time in that book, and I remember being struck by how singularly effective it was, and how cruel it was at the same time. I had fun shaping this section. Thanks for giving me the opportunity.
Leave it to you to have more than just the bit with Jared up your sleeve. o_O Yes that's my way of saying I wasn't expecting the bit with Aldric Sauvage/L?Arachel Salier. Also, now I'm going to have to pick that book up and read it since I'm curious about the technique. Effective and cruel indeed. Anyway, it's going to feel odd having you gone. I enjoyed your contribution, even if it was kind of creepy, so you'll be missed. =P

This certainly isn't anything new since I've seen it come up in the past, but I have to wonder why people get so up in arms over a toy: Ditch the doll? Lawmaker out to outlaw Barbie I mean when it comes down to it, isn't it the parent's choice and responsiblity as to what they'll let their kids play with? In general, I tend to not favor attempts to ban toys over something like this. It feels too much like were passing the buck on personal responsiblity as a parent. Now obviously I have no experience in that area but I still think if one really believes a toy promotes that, then the answer is to simply not buy it for your kids. What do you think of banning things like this? Do you think there are toys out there that need to be yanked off the shelves? Or do you think the whole thing is stupid?
My plan is to wear my green underwear and work. The rest of the year it just collects dust in my closet.
And to stay on topic, I'm currently listening to nothing. The silence is nice while trying to recover from being sick.
I hate when that happens. Being sick is bad enough, but to find music intolerable always seems like I'm betraying something somehow. =P Anyway, I'm listening to this: Theatre of Tragedy - Voices It's not what I normally listen to. One of my friends forwarded the link to me earlier today. I'm not sure why they thought I would like it. I didn't outright dislike it, but I'd never bother to pick up a copy of the song.
The whole pinching thing always makes me quirk an eyebrow when I hear about it, seriously strange addition to the day there.
And here it's always been around since I can remember. I thought I'd escape that once I got older, apparently not. o_O So I blame the weird people who continue it. At least it's a whole lot less likely now that I'm an adult. If you forgot when you were younger and went to school...

I don't do anything. About the only concession to this holiday I have is to have a touch of green on somewhere since some people think you need to pinch others who don't. Seriously though, other than that, I do nothing special for this day at all.
