1. Right now I'm listening to Sargasso Sea by Suzanne Ciani. The cello part is quite pretty and so far I like it. It's a bit simplistic but still has a nice calm feel to it.
2. Well that's interesting. o_O And I'm sorry to say it, but my first impression with him being so skinny and pale... was to think Twilight. >_> Sorry but that was my first impression. I am curious to see how he works out though.
3. Every time I think I've heard it all, I run into an article like this one here, seriously WTF? Dad angry over child support kills son If you're too much of a loser to pay child support then get yourself fixed and never have kids instead of doing what this guy did. Talk about being beyond cheap and sick. Cases like this... only confirm my belief that for some, the death penalty is the best answer. Sadly, he's probably going to spend so much time in jail and then walk.
4. I was browsing through this article here: America’s Top Killer: Us and found it to be an interesting read. The whole idea is that:
A new study argues our personal choices cause more than 1 million premature deaths a year. What, if anything, should the government do to protect us from ourselves?
It certainly raises some interesting questions in respects to personal accountability and responsiblity for one's decisions. I don't completely buy into the concept that our poor choices result in an early death. And my first thought is to say... but what about [insert scenario here]. However I do think one has to draw the line somewhere when it comes to realizing that you make your own choices. What you eat, whether or not you exercise regularly or smoke is a personal choice. And there's no denying that if you're honest with yourself, everyone has habits or behaviors that if not kept in check, could be destructive. So do you think there's any truth in what the article says? Do you have habits that you're trying to break? Or do you think it's just a bunch of nonsense? And what are your thoughts on government intervention?
5.
This Just In: Raiha is Hostile.[/FONT']
Not just in and you know it. So if you could ease off on the hostile bit I'd appreciate it. However summercrane, Raiha makes a very valid point about the so called neutrality of your original post. Sabrina pointed it out as well. Your opening post had the biased slant of saying Israel was at fault. Though if that's your opinion you're certainly entitled to it. However I read the article and in this instance Israel is responding to acts of aggression that were, in this case, started by the other side first. So saying they're breaking International law ignores the fact that they were provoked. They didn't just up and decide to attack Hamas for no reason at all. Also, I seriously doubt International law allows one country to wantonly attack another and not be held accountable for their actions. So based on what I've read, I'm seeing that it was Hamas that broke International law in this case, not Israel.
6. The site says credit cards are acceptable, so if it's not accepting your card, you might want to check with them to see why. You might not have enough room to make another charge or something like that. You can always try paypal instead since the site has that as an option too.
7.
I am not sure if the system will be modified at all, but this is worth raising if it's becoming an issue or limitation. Thanks for doing so. :catgirl:
It was originally raised from not being able to post more than once unless someone else had commented, to allowing up to three responses. Update That was one of the new features that was added with the launch of VV. Though I can see wanting a little more than three, perhaps five? Or if possible the ability to direct a response to more than one person in one comment. Anyway, that's all I know about it. But until that's looked at or changed Viviane, you can always use pm's (as a temporary measure) to thank those you couldn't send a direct comment to. Not as easy, but at least you'll know they got it.
8. Adam recently upgraded the backroom to make submitting stuff easy to do. Just go into your backroom and underneath the dark blue portals that Sara was referring to, are the controls for your account. The last option on the right is Quick Submit. Just put your mouse over it for a drop down menu for all sections that you can submit stuff too. Just click on the one you want and it takes you straight to the submission page for whatever you choose.
9.
I like what you guys have done with the site but I do have one question: Why in the world haven't you guys promoted BKStyles[/B'] yet? He joined before me and he's been a huge contribution. At least I hope he has.
Matt vanished last January. He logs in occasionally but he hasn't been a part of anything for nearly a year now. Anyway welcome back. And welcome to everyone else as well. If you need anything let us know but in the meantime, just look around and have fun. There's plenty to do around here.
10. I'll probably end up going to a small party with friends. We'll watch movies and just chill until the new year starts. Other than that I don't have any plans at all. As for resolutions, I already set mine in motion. Less work so I'll have more time to do stuff I enjoy. Like spending time with people. I was too damn busy this past year. Oh and if you haven't read this yet, I would. Heh. Dave Barry Year in Review: Bailing out of 2008
11. I like Vicky's so I'll be voting for it as well. Cat's is nice, but I feel like it doesn't really fit the theme as well as the other does.
12.
Oh, now this is interesting. In the second to last page, if I'm correct, the Syaoran clone whispered in the unconscious (dead?) Syaoran's ear. Now, I wonder what that could be about....
I'm wondering that as well, though I have my thoughts as to what's going on and I'm hoping I'm right. It will be more fun if I am.
13. Well as James already said, welcome aboard. If you're interested in rpg's just head over to our Theater section of the boards for that. The rest can be found in Anime Central. If you ever need anything, just let us know.
14.
Plus Obama can't please everyone, no matter who he picks.[/FONT']
That's part of why I honestly just don't care. I know that no matter who he picks, someone will be mad or upset. He could have chosen better (in my opinion), but at the same time, I'm sure he could have chosen someone even worse.
15. I'm sorry to hear about your sister Colossus. As for my Christmas the biggest thing that I got was music supplies. I picked up a new stand, chair and small bookshelf for holding my stuff. The fun stuff will be using some of the gift cards I got to pick up more music and books. Oh and I got some snack foods, those are always nice to have, especially for us lazy college students who prefer something that you don't have to spend time preparing.
16. One would hope he was insane, but it's more likely that he just had serious depression or other types of issues. I'm of the opinion that mentally he wasn't stable since lots of people have marital problems and don't snap in that fashion. Also as harsh as it will sound, my only regret is that they didn't just turn the gun on themselves and leave others out of their stupidity. That's the part I don't get, why people will kill others before they turn around and kill themselves.
17. I mainly listen to what's considered classical. Though I do have some rock I like along with a bit of metal. Some jazz and other mixed groups like E.S. Posthumous and Lunar too. I still end up listening to the classical stuff the most though. ^^
18. Congratulations everyone. I like how each one goes well with it's respective skin. I'll probably end up using a different one each time I log in just for fun.
19. I honestly don't know if I'm interested or not. I had an insane schedule last year and in response to that, I've cut some of my schedule out for next year. So hopefully that will give me a life again so I have time for this kind of stuff. If you're waiting until after VBO is done to even do sign ups... I should know by the end of next month how my new schedule will work. If you're shooting for sooner than that, I just don't know. :/ I'm going to talk to Beth and see what she wants to do since obviously our characters would still be together and all. =P In the meantime though... it's vacation time and I'm too busy enjoying having time to think for a change. It does look like it would be fun though. So this is just to let you know I am interested.
20. So how many of you are getting hit by winter storms? We've been getting snowed on, making travel interesting since there's lots of people out there who don't slow down and either cause wrecks or end up in one. One year we had a bad storm hit and in less than 48 hours, we had over 700 wrecks, literally. Anyway, so what kind of weather do you usually get where you live? Any weird or wild exceptions? We normally get some form of snow. If not in the valley then in the mountains for sure. Some years it's on the dry side but still chilly. This year we're definitely going to have a white Christmas. How about the rest of you?
21. I'm sure you've all read about this guy since he's been invited to speak at the inauguration. If you haven't heard about it yet, articles about it can be found here: Frank: Warren's views ?deeply offensive? and here: Rick Warren's critics include other evangelicals Now I'm not religious so no matter what their views are, I already know they're going to say things I don't agree with, or have views I don't agree with. So I don't see a problem since I already know that having similar beliefs as whoever is chosen, isn't going to happen. Well on the more controversial stuff which is part of why there are people objecting to the choice. Anyway, I'm not really too familiar with this guy so I don't have much else to say on it. How about the rest of you?
22. Yes I laughed at this. >_>
23. Ah the bailout.... Handled just as expected. Pity.
24. Of course he does...
