1.
And yes, I'm not done. [/FONT']
Holy Hell... That was one of the darkest posts I've seen in this rpg. o_O You didn't even describe everything but... damn. That painted a very vivid and intense picture.
2. Okay, I finally finished up that post. It's not as good as I'd like, but the delay was getting a bit absurd so I wanted to at least get things moving again. Just a few more days and I'll have more time again. Though falling asleep yesterday evening and waking up around one am worked too. lol I just hope I can fall back asleep and get some rest. ^^ Anyway, I posted... yay? XP
3. He would have preferred to work in his quarters, but he wasn?t given that option. Probably because even though his knowledge of computers wasn?t sufficient for hacking the system in order to send an unauthorized message out, they weren?t going to take any chances. They weren?t going to allow him to have access except in the computer labs where it was set up for him. So when the chime at his door indicated his escort was outside waiting, he simply went without a fuss. Darren didn?t want to give them a reason to stuff him in a cell instead. Illusion or not, tiny quarters were still better than a stark empty cell. ?Here,? the Versilan said shortly as he handed over the hand held computer he was allowed to work with during his shift. Darren took it without comment, smirking inwardly that they were worried he might somehow alter it to send a transmission if they let him keep it with him when he rested. Their caution was admirable, but at times, tiring. ?You need to hurry up and finish that last report, the Commander is waiting.? He rushed to keep up since the other was walking so quickly down the various corridors of the ship that he was almost running. ?If you want it sooner, you should stop being so paranoid and let me keep the files and the hand held so I can work on it a bit after dinner.? ?I?ve told you before Mr. Anderson, you need to stop slacking and do the job assigned to you. I don?t know how you managed to fool the High Council or the Commander but you take forever to get anything done.? He took the lead and moved to open the double doors to the computer lab. Not bothering to look and see if Darren was following him or not. The man came to a halt and turned around when he realized that Darren had stopped. ?What are you waiting for? Get in here.? He sneered. Just do it. Darren told himself. Nothing good will come from getting upset. He made himself take measured steps until he was able to sit down at his assigned terminal. Just remember, he reminded himself, the moron doesn?t have a clue what he?s talking about. Darren knew he didn?t understand what he?d been asked to do. Analyzing shipments in order to predict where the next ones would go was fairly easy, unless you were trying to predict where stuff for special operatives was being funneled. He may have been working with shipping for the High Council before, but other than the stuff needed to help track down the Resistance, he had not been given access to the more sensitive stuff unless absolutely necessary. If he was going to hand over a report of possible movements, he needed to be though in his examination of the data he had been given. ?Jeez,? the Versilan reached over his shoulder and turned the terminal on. ?This is what I?m talking about. This day dreaming of yours needs to stop.? ?Would you just shut up already?? Darren said softly. ?Just because I don?t appear to be busy, doesn?t mean I?m not working things out in my mind.? He turned around and looked up. ?If you really think I?m doing such a poor job then go and bitch to that Commander of yours.? So much for not saying anything? he winced when a glare was sent in his direction. How did this idiot end up working for the Resistance? All the man did was complain non-stop over his impression that Darren didn't know how to do his job. They stared at each other for a long moment before he nodded grimly, ?Perhaps I will.? He finally said. ?Good,? Darren couldn?t resist. ?In the mean time? Get lost.? He turned back to the terminal and started working where he had left off. He'd deal with in repercussions over that later. At least it was having the desired effect of getting him to shut up.
4. I'd say this sums it up nicely, especially when you consider that disaster bailout. Pity he didn't stay in.
5. Somehow that just seems fitting. Yes it's dorky, but I still laughed at it on account of that dumb song.
6. Heh, just more proof that some people (okay a lot) are idiots. That's pretty stupid no matter how you look at it. It makes me glad my parents gave me and my siblings normal names instead of some weird insane deal. o_O
7.
Damn I hate being a penniless college student...
Puts a whole new meaning on Christmas or any holiday for that matter. Take my earlier post about thinking of getting an xbox360... I just got nailed with some additional fees for the next semester so that's totally not going to happen. Oh well.
8.
And I'm bummed out too because there are so many sins I want to download.
Well in that case, just be happy for the ones you already have? =P
9.
I've decided to go ahead and contact the authorities, but I'm going to do so without informing anybody, not even my fiancee. This way if push comes to shove she can't hold too much of a grudge against my fiancee since she didn't have any knowledge of it beforehand. I'll post on here at a later date and let everyone know how things went.
That's good to hear that you've decided to turn him in. As hard as it will be, it's the best route to take for those kids. The others already went into detail on that so I'll not repeat that bit. And yes, do let us know how that works out.
10.
First of all that would be silly, there's only so much room in the ratings area. Secondally that is why you should read the manual before playing any game.
Nice idea but, you have to purchase the game and open it to access the manual. Most parents like to know this before they even purchase it. =P
Is it disturbing if I would, without any hesitation, put that game under my kid's Christmas tree?
Unless your profile info is wrong, you don't even have kids. lol
Of course, it was completely stupid and irresponsible not to warn the rating board that those words are allowed in the game, to say nothing about including them in the first place.
That's really the main point. Them neglecting to say... by the way, this is in the game! If it had at least included that info where you could see that was there before buying and opening it (the junior option that is) there probably wouldn't be any fuss.
11. Sorry for the delay guys. XP I'm sure you all understand that I just don't have any time these days. At least finals are coming up and by the end of this upcoming week I'll finally have time to breathe again. At that point, hopefully sooner, I'll get something posted. I do have something in mind, I just need time to actually write it.
12.
I know I should have asked this earlier. But if "sin" has been removed from the dictionary does that mean I don't have to go to confession anymore?
That's part of what made me laugh when I read the article. I know it's just for a junior dictionary, but removing sin? lol So it looks like you're off the hook. =P
13. You know, you really need to stop doing this. =P
14.
If you liked Code Geass, then might I suggest Mobile Suit Gundam 00? Gundam 00 has all of Geass' strengths (good action, prettiness and a crazy story), and also has a great cast of characters (don't know about you, but I couldn't stand, like, 90 percent of Geass[/b']' characters by the end of the first season).
I'll certainly keep it in mind. I didn't get really attached to the characters in the story, but I never reached the point where I couldn't stand them either. However, I don't like it enough to ever consider re-watching it.
15. I saw this article over at theOtaku and couldn't help but laugh at it. If you want the full details just take a look: Mother's fury over Nintendo Scrabble game that taught her son a string of vile swear words Now don't get me wrong, it's not like swearing is the end of the world, but if a company is advertising a game for ages 3+ Then having the AI using words like f*rs isn't going to go over very well with parents. =P Apparently Ubisoft said: 'We are sorry the game has caused concern, but it includes a "junior" option that stops it using unusual or offensive words.' Uh yeah, sure, but if that's the case, rating the game 3+ is rather misleading.
16. In the same line of reasoning found in this thread: Death to film critics! Hail to the CelebCult! It seems that other aspects of learning/reviewing/study are being dumbed down as well. I ran across this paticular article here: Is it a sin? Christian words deleted from Oxford dictionary Now I understand that language changes over the years and that some words fall out of use, but taking out words like Sin among other things just seems a bit out of whack. Sure it's referring to a dictionary aimed at younger kids, but it seems like a disservice to strip out words that would help them when learning about history. Anyway, it's not the end of the world, but still, I found some of the choices for words to be taken out rather odd.
17. Well I finished up Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion. It wasn't my favorite, but I did enjoy it. I have the second season ready to go, but I'll probably wait until finals are done next week before I get around to watching it. I also started watching Tales of the Abyss. I've only seen five of the episodes so far, but I'm liking how well they're adapting this from a game into an anime.
18. I've listened to it many times, but when I'm tired and worn out, it's soothing so I have Bach's cello suites playing at the moment. I might listen to some Christmas stuff by Mannheim Steamroller when I'm done with Bach.
19. Popular versions of religious hymns. I loved them as a kid, but now, other than stuff that is purely classical, they just get on my nerves. Oh and my parents like Johnny Cash. I grew up on that and liked it. Then when I moved out and heard the stuff again, I wondered what I ever saw in it.
20. Congratulations Indi and Nathan! :D I was wondering when this was going to happen. I've only been expecting to hear this for several months now. Heh.
21.
Well living where I do in California, most people wouldn't know a recession if it danced naked in front of them looped in strands of holly and mistletoe. [/FONT']
Welcome to Utah! *is shot* I wish I was kidding though. They're busy patting themselves on the back here and declaring how our state is pretty much unaffected. Uh... yeah. People around here need to take their heads out of the sand and look around. Anyway... College already made me a careful spender, but with all the turmoil, I've been even more careful the past couple of months. I may currently have the comfort of having work, but I know perfectly well the moment I finish college I'll be job hunting. So though I enjoy doing stuff on the holiday for my family and friends, I don't want to finish school and find myself with no place to go. So yeah, it has definitely affected how I spend and not just for the holiday.
22.
Half of the issue is that, like many other facets of this country, news is now a Business. The primary motivating goal is the making of money. If a company can get more patronage through running 'popular' stories, instead of informative stories, then the popular wins out.
That sums it up completely. Intelligent, thought provoking... not if it won't make money! [/sarcasm] News, movies, it's all tailored to make money and if that requires dumbing it down and sensationalizing it, so be it. It's part of why I rarely watch the news or bother to go to movies. It gets old to go and see one only to be disappointed. I use to go to the theater a lot more, but now I tend to look more carefully into stuff before I pay to see it.
23. When I do have it, lately it's either Coke or Dr. Pepper. I tend to have more water and tea than soda though. As for what I call it, usually soda, but I hear both terms on a regular basis.
24. Sure, why not? I check that part of the site as well as the others. =P
25. Just an update on this: O.J. Simpson faces spartan desert prison As the article states: Simpson was sentenced Friday to 9 to 33 years in prison. Naturally they're going to appeal, but until then, he gets to enjoy being behind bars.
