Star Wars reference or rather this just might be your room Gavin. =P
Try coming over to my side of the Atlantic and saying that Crys, otherwise I still consider the "hell-spawn" to be yours. :p
Seems to me that the true parent is you and Raiha based on this:
Strange cousins: Vicky, Calypso, Aberinkula, Omega, P.J. I just think of them as adopted cousins or perhaps spawned from primordial ooze? who knows)
Because unlike you Gavin, Indi doesn't have a husband yet where you have an online wife... oopsie? Darren's just putting it politely so Raiha won't attempt to rip something vital out. =P *laughs* As for having a family here... o_O I see a few have claimed me as a cousin or uncle but I haven't exactly adopted anyone so I'm not sure how that works.

Star Wars references are always fun ChibiHorsewoman. Anyway, since I could use a good laugh right about now... It figures that you'd post right when I'm busy and haven't had time to get online. o_O It's always amazing how you can read something, look back and think, I should have realized that. Obviously I did not. I will say this though, Aaryanna is right. Odd isn't the right word for Major Sewall. Creepy however... fits.

. . . . . what the bloody hell.

I was thinking the same thing. Seriously. o_O I don't really think of other members in that light. I think of who I'd like to meet, but that's about it. Not for the purpose stated in this thread, just as friends. And yes I thought that way before I met Beth (in real life) and started dating her. So if you want to know who I'd like to meet, that will have to go in a different thread.

I'm so ignoring most of this thread or rather I'm not responding to it. I don't have the time to respond to each opinion so I'll simply go with what I think of the original one.
Is an unborn baby really a person or is it just a blob? Is abortion still wrong if the woman is raped?
I think an unborn baby (or cells) is a potential human. I say potential since the mother's own body will miscarry it naturally if it's incapable of surviving. In principle I think abortion is wrong, but there are cases where I think it's necessary. One example is if health wise it can kill the mother and the baby as well. The argument over rape, well before I say anything about that, I think a lot of people are ill informed on that one. The reason why hearing someone is pregnant from rape is so rare is because of options offered to someone who was raped. If a woman doesn't take the pill (or is using other means to prevent pregnancy), they are offered pregnancy prevention treatment. Pregnancy prevention treatment consists of taking 2 estrogen pills when they first get to the hospital and 2 more pills 12 hours later. This treatment reduces the risk of pregnancy by 60% to 90%. If for some reason, like not reporting the rape or the treatment doesn't work and they still want an abortion, then I am pro-choice in that it's their right to make that decision.

The most stupid thing I have ever found on the internet

Not sure if I could call that site stupid. Hilarious as all get out to read but not stupid. I agree with Nathan, the FAQ for that thing was priceless. -

Who Will Win the Presidential Election?
Rachmaninoff replied to Mr. Blonde's topic in General Discussion
But there's the thing?I can barely tell a difference between either of them. As far as I've been able to discern, the only clear difference of stances they seem to have are what the media says they differ on, since I haven't heard either candidate actually come out and make a clear declaration that wasn't a deliberate sound bite. (Could someone clear me up on this "sound bite" thing? I'm never sure I'm saying it right.) I will confess that I haven't heard much of anything at all, so my opinion could very well be simple ignorance. But even if all I have left to go one is gut instinct, then I still distrust both men. There's something in their eyes and behind their faces that just feels . . . wrong.
I go by stances as well as past voting history to help me decide and there are definitely clear differences between the two candidates. I?ll start with how they?ve voted in the past. McCain: Voted NO on $100M to reduce teen pregnancy by education & contraceptives. (I disagree with the stance of not educating teens on the consequences of having sex) Voted YES on $75M for abstinence education. (Again, I think abstinence education is a joke, it needs to be comprehensive) Voted YES on approving a nuclear waste repository. (No, as one of the states where they want to store this stuff, definitely NO) Voted YES on allowing some lobbyist gifts to Congress. (Like we need more of that kind of favors being passed around) Voted NO on banning more types of Congressional gifts. (No, it should be banned) Voted NO on background checks at gun shows. (lolwut?!?) Voted YES on loosening license & background checks at gun shows. (being at a gun show shouldn?t take precedent over a person requiring a background check, that?s just stupid) Voted NO on raising the minimum wage to $7.25 rather than $6.25. (he did actually vote for it later, but initially he opposed it) Obama: Voted YES on $100M to reduce teen pregnancy by education & contraceptives. (I?ve said it before, more comprehensive education is what I think would work best) Voted NO on allowing some lobbyist gifts to Congress. (Another thing I agree with, we don?t need that kind of stuff going on) Voted YES on raising the minimum wage to $7.25 rather than $6.25. (That?s an obvious one right there) McCain: Statements I don?t agree with. Americans are innocent victims of Wall Street greed. (in reference to the bailout, sorry, but many Americans living beyond their means are just as guilty as Wall Street) McCain wants to make the Bush tax cuts of 2001 and 2003 permanent. (That would be great if it didn?t favor people who are rich) Obama: Statements Wants to allow the Bush tax cuts of 2001 and 2003 to expire as scheduled for Americans earning more than $250,000 a year. (self-explanatory) And that?s just a tiny bit of what I?m looking at when it comes to deciding who to vote for. I consistently see that Obama?s past history and current stances often match up with what I want to see where McCain keeps voting for things I don?t want and against things I do want to see. In short, just look through the sites that both Nathan and James linked too. The differences are there, you just have to look for them. I?d go more into detail but personally I think it?s better if you take a look for yourself. -

Who Will Win the Presidential Election?
Rachmaninoff replied to Mr. Blonde's topic in General Discussion
I don't know who will win, no matter what the polls say, but I already decided on voting for Obama long before the final debates. It was a matter of which one's stances on the issues matched what I wanted to see the most. McCain definitely doesn't even come close to what I want to see. -
Like Nathan said, in other videos out there, when you listen to them, there is no M at the end of the first word, making the idea that it says Isalm moot. I could possibly agree to the other words, but I wonder how much of that is influenced from seeing all the hype being circled around about this doll.

I'd say this is pretty accurate.

The Alleged Paradigm ?I was beginning to think Patrick was never going to shut up.? Nall growled. ?Now you?re late for your training session with Nathan.? ?It can?t be helped. I couldn?t tell him that I needed to go after all.? Nall snorted rudely, ?You don?t have to be polite.? ?I don?t have to be rude either.? Alex said firmly. ?Hmph, if that bothers you so much you should tell him why you can?t stick around.? ?I?? ?Jeez Alex, I don?t know why you care if he knows or not. It?s not like he?s going to tell anyone. ?Sides, what you do in your free time is your business so no one will care.? If that were true, why did he still feel reluctant to talk to Patrick about anything? The dinner had left him feeling uneasy. It felt like Patrick was prying, though that just made no sense at all. I must be imaging things. ?I?d rather not find out.? ?What if he starts wanting to hang out more? What then?? Nall pressed. ?We?ll worry about that when and if it actually happens Nall.? Nall just snorted and said nothing else; they were almost too where Nathan would be waiting. As they came in to land, it took them a moment to realize that the Reaper sitting on the park bench next to Nathan was Adrian along with Astera. I wonder why he?s here. ?Alex! Nall!? He paused as Astera came flitting over to greet them. He wasn?t really paying attention though and a moment later Astera and Nall were off in their own world catching up on what had happened since they saw each other last. ?Sorry I?m late.? Alex apologized as Nathan stood up. ?Dinner took longer than expected.? ?Dinner?? Adrian?s eyebrow shot up. ?Yeah. I thought Patrick just wanted to say goodbye, but he?s taking a vacation and sticking around for a bit.? Alex shrugged. ?Makes no sense to me, if I had time off, I wouldn?t spend it here.? ?Anyway, it?s good to see you again Adrian. I trust your training went well?? ?You could say that.? ?Perhaps sometime you could show me what you?ve learned.? Alex said wistfully. ?If you don?t mind that is.? He added on hastily. ?Speaking of training,? Nathan started with a grin as he explained what he had in mind. ?What?? Alex exclaimed once he was done. ?Are you serious?? He shot a glance at Adrian who was watching the exchange before looking back at Nathan. ?Uh? I.? He closed his mouth, feeling stupider by the moment and then nodded his agreement. ------------------------- ?You sure put your foot in your mouth that time Alex.? Nall was laughing at him again, like always. ?I was surprised by it, that?s all.? Alex asserted. That was a total understatement. Once he had gotten over the initial surprise and Nathan had gone over what he expected of the two, the training session had actually been exciting. He hadn?t wanted to say anything, but the training had begun to fell a bit repetitive lately. The various places they had raided over the years had provided the occasional challenge, but it just wasn?t the same as working on a regular basis with someone. By the end of the session it was obvious that though Adrian still had a clear edge on him, the style he had learned was different. He had been surprisingly patient as well, something that upon reflection he realized was silly. He had never worked with him like that before so he had nothing to go on. Still, it was clear that he was different somehow, and not just how he moved when sparring. ?So, about Patrick?? ?Would you put a sock in it already Nall?? ?It?s not that,? Nall sounded pained. ?Look.? He indicated the roof to their building; sure enough he could see him sitting on the edge of the building, watching the city below. ?I wonder what he?oh.? Patrick was holding the book he had been reading. I must have left it at the restaurant.

Whoa there Bethany. Since when did you become so violent? =P If you keep shooting Allamorph and end up killing him, then you'll never get to see what happens. I can understand the sentiment a tiny bit though, I know I'm terribly curious to see where this is going. It does feel like it's taking forever, however since I tend to be late with my own posts... I can't really complain. XP

Darren had turned down the offer to see Kerstin. He had been told that it was possible he wouldn?t have that option again for quite some time and yet he still turned it down, opting to write up a message for her instead. He didn?t know if they actually delivered it or not, he just knew that she didn?t need to see him so long as he was required to wear the disruptor restraints. After that mess with Blaine Uratak, she didn?t need that kind of reminder. It would be hard enough as it was. Ironically, his new situation reminded him of when he had first been pulled over by the battleship Crimson. He had been given the choice of working for the military or facing the consequences. Darren didn?t know who he hated the most, the High Council or the New Alliance. The only good thing this time was he did not have to deal with Jared or Stevens. Not that he liked dealing with the Commander of this ship he was stuck on any better. He still didn?t know who the hell he was since absolutely no one called the man by anything but ?sir? or his rank of Commander. Darren tried paying attention to what the others were saying since he?d been handed over to someone in the computer labs, but even when he caught what was being said in hushed tones, no one had yet to actually use a name. All he had caught was a tiny bit of confusion over why the Commander as they put it was even bothering to keep him around instead of having him sent to one of the camps for prisoners. ?Stop spacing and get back to work.? A sharp voice called out, causing Darren to jump. His head whipped around to see the Versilan he had been assigned to coming his way. He groaned. It wasn?t like his attention had wandered on purpose. I should have refused to cooperate. It was an empty thought though, and he knew it. ?Yes sir.? He started to turn back. ?It?s about time you stop sulking and focus on what you?re supposed to be doing.? ?I decided to do as I was told; I never agreed to actually like it.? Darren pointed out. ?For one who has led a privileged life, you?re pretty damn ignorant.? He towered over Darren. ?If it were up to me, you would have been sent off like the others.? I was privileged? Since when? The condescending and arrogant scowl directed at him just had him seeing red and he snapped before he could think better of it. ?For one who is supposedly qualified to serve the New Alliance, you?re pretty damn ignorant.? Darren tossed his words back into his face. ?My ?privileged life? as you so colorfully put it was courtesy of your own leader William hacking my clearance and directing my ship into a restricted sector.? Darren stood up, ?You do know what the penalty is for being caught in a restricted sector is right?? The man started to answer but Darren answered for him, cutting him off. ?It?s death, unless the military decides they have a use for you.? He let that set in, ignoring how the officer was getting angry. ?That?s absurd,? the man finally said. ?It sounds like you?re blaming the Resistance for your own stupidity.? He shook his head and sat down, looking away, ?Believe what you want, I?ve seen the shipping records and tracked William?s movements. I?ve seen the military records as well.? Darren sighed. ?I don?t care anymore; all I ever wanted was to live my life in peace.? ?Don?t you think that?s what everyone wants?? Puzzled, he looked back up, confused by the complete change in his voice, stance and expression. ?Slave, prisoner, citizen, no matter who they are, everyone has the right to live their lives in peace as they see fit.? He explained sadly before turning to head back to what he had been doing before reprimanding him.

I rather like the look and feel of AngryBarista's entry so that's who I'm voting for. I liked it before the alterations and even after with the silly mustache and hat. =P It's nice and simple and the retro feel is fun. Cat, though I liked yours, I didn't really care for the colors. The saying on it was nice though. Well before the alterations that is. Heh. Jeremy, I kind of found yours creepy too. The graphics look great, but it just didn't seem to fit the idea of friendship very well. jigglyness, I got the same vibe from yours that I did with Jeremy. Not the creepy bit, but the fitting friendship. It seemed more like admiration than friendship. Though again, the graphics are nicely done.

Sexuality: What's right or wrong?
Rachmaninoff replied to chibi-master's topic in General Discussion
This is also not true. There has been a study that proves women could self-fertilize using some kind of marrow from their own bones. I don't have time to look it up right now, though.
Since I started a thread on that very topic and it includes a link to the article in question: Asexual Reproduction? I'll provide the info on that. And yes I know the title is inaccurate. I was just aiming to catch people's attention so they'd actually read the thread. That and the actual article name was too long.
