Breaking News: The Juice is no Longer Loose.
Rachmaninoff replied to The Spectacular Professor's topic in General Discussion
That's what I figure, that he'll just end up back on the streets again. It's like this guy just keeps managing to get away with stuff. Sure he's up on charges, but the real question is will they actually stick this time. -
Can't say I feel sorry that he got busted. Even if you can just delete them, it doesn't change the fact that they're annoying. Plus depending on the person/organization, the amount of spam they get can be rather staggering. Anything I do connected with school tends to land more spam where personal accounts tend to get far less. I never click on them, other than to report them as spam if it happens to land in my inbox. Still we don't need that kind of stuff. Though the way that guy was making so much money explains a lot. Obviously if there wasn't any profit to be had, people wouldn't bother to do it.

Personally I think AIM would work better than theO's chat format. It doesn't have the three month restriction and unlike the chat you can adjust the IM window so it won't scroll up too quickly. Plus theO's chat has a limited capacity for remembering the log for you to save it, so... in my opinion, AIM would facilitate it a whole lot better than the service at theO.

I haven't really followed any of the debates since timing wise, it's always been on at the worst possible time for me. I really prefer to look at a candidates past history of how they've addressed issues to get a feel for what I think of how they'll do, over watching a debate though.
It's called 'situational irony', guys. She fell on a hoe and died. :p
You lie. =P All kidding aside it was just different from what I'm use to seeing.

I got a good laugh out of this one.

What does your signature/title/avi say about you?
Rachmaninoff replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in General Discussion
Well I think it's obvious that I like classical music, with the user name, custom title and avatar of a piano. I also had a matching banner until I changed it to match with Beth for an rpg that we are both in. The quote is from the chat over at theO, if something there or on AIM strikes me as funny, I'll stuff it in there. The banner for the Shingami Dance just shows how much I really love being in a really good rpg and the says above and below it merely fit the banner (if you are familiar with the rpg that is). I think the Des fan club is self explanatory. o_O The other stuff relating to Beth was actually back from when we became really good friends, long before we actually met in real life. So all in all, my signature, title and avatar reflects things that are not only fun, but important to me in my life. -
Well it's late, but I hope you had a good birthday just the same. Most of my birthdays were pretty normal as a kid, more fun for the party aspect - though seeing that mine's on Halloween - I end up at some sort of party every year anyway. So it's not too much different now that I'm older. And though this will only make me more of a geek in people's eyes. >_> One of my favorite birthdays when I was younger was finally convincing my parents I was serious about music. Getting them to finally get me a decent Cello was quite a feat. I'll always remember that. I was ridiculously happy over getting that as a present.
Video martial arts. ... ........ ............ Not seeing it.
Same here. A video might at least get you familiar with the idea, but I don't see it actually teaching you very well. You're doing it for fun so that probably makes it different, but if you ever want to get more serious about it. I'd go and take real classes instead. [/beating a dead horse]

That has to be one of the strangest deaths I've seen you write. Seriously. o_O

The biggest problem I saw with the bailout was allowing the Treasury to pay more than market value for said items. By giving the treasury complete discretion over the prices it pays for bad assets it leaves it open for them to pay inflated prices. Why should they pay more for them than the bank did? That?s not keeping them afloat, that?s rewarding them for screwing up in the first place. That's just ludicrous in my opinion. Another problem, executive compensation at bailed out companies. It prohibits golden parachute payments to CEO?s and other ?C-level? execs at bailed out companies. However, it only prevents payments on severance deals that are struck AFTER the bail out. So you can just imagine how well that's going to work. It doesn?t cancel the severance payments that the executives are already contractually entitled to. That doesn?t even include how all compensation over 500,000 is not tax deductible for the company. So the penalty is being put on the entire company and not the CEO?s who ran the companies into the ground. Seriously wtf? That just covers a few serious issues this ?bail? out had so denying it was a good thing, though I have my doubts about the next attempt being any better. Like Sabrina said, it's not so much that we're against the idea, it's that the original bill was a complete and total joke. You don't fix things by simply handing over a blank check with hardly any regulations whatsoever. If they want a bail out bill to work, it needs to be better drafted to tighten up some of the overly broad powers it would have allowed.

Color Brown Have you ever dyed your hair? No. Length/ Style. I prefer something that is easy to care for so I keep it short. There isn't much to do style wise since all I have to do is wash it and let it air dry. As for what I like for girls, so long as it's not too short, and by too short I mean less than say four inches, then I'm fine. I do prefer longer hair, but that's just me.

Tetra of sound and Eclipsed Dreamer, do not use threads like they are AIM or a chat service. I've trimmed out the contest and obsession posts. Get back on topic. And speaking of the topic, my bad habit is not paying attention to the time when I'm online and realizing - I have ten minutes to get somewhere... which of course results in me being late.
-
I'll allow this for now, but I do ask that people give others a chance to join in so they don't keep getting done again and again. I'm looking at you Eclipsed Dreamer. If you want to thank someone, use pm's. And since you've been done several times already, I'm not going to comment on it. Also Vervex next time put more thought into a thread before you create it. For example, you don't even have a signature for people to rate. :/ Also, don't ask for totally spammy posts of people simply saying 1-10. That's just total spam and something we don't want to see here at OtakuBoards. Now, I want to see people giving reasons as to WHY you rated a signature, if you're not clear, just look at SaiyanPrincessX since their's is a good example. Oh and Drizzt Do'urden, ease off the back seat modding, that's what we're here for.

Can't Take Me Home So he?s back. I wonder what he learned while he was gone. Not that he expected Adrian to have changed; he imagined that his habit of ignoring him would still be the same. Still, it was something he would like to see if he ever got the chance. He looked up at the tall building that was his destination and strolled through the automatic doors that opened upon his approach. Alex was oblivious to the stares he was getting as he got into the elevator to head for one of the top floors. Patrick may have asked him to join him for lunch at one of the more expensive restaurants overlooking the city, but he saw no reason to bother with acquiring more expensive clothing. The plain brown trousers and green tunic he preferred were more comfortable anyway. The smartly dressed usher, other than to narrow his eyes slightly, escorted him to where Patrick was waiting at one of the tables up against the far window. He wasn?t dressed any better than Alex, though the black pants and blue tunic was of a much nicer fabric. He waited for Alex to take a seat. ?So what did you want?? Alex asked. In the past seven years, Patrick had rarely bothered to contact him over anything. The only ones who ever bothered to stop by were Terry and Fiero, though that was usually to pester Nall. ?Oh nothing really,? Patrick was wearing one of his usual half grins. ?I just realized that I?ve been neglecting you since I got here.? Alex shrugged, ?I wouldn?t say that, you haven?t been here that long after all. Besides, now that Adrian is back, doesn?t that mean you?ll be heading back to the other side?? ?No." Patrick shook his head. ?I won?t have assignments anymore, but I decided to take some time off.? Alex?s eyebrow shot up. ?Time off. Since when did we get time off?? ?When you?ve served as long as I have, whenever you want.? He explained. ?Well no one bothered to tell me that.? ?That?s because they assign enough reapers in an area that you already have plenty of time between assignments.? He sighed slightly and looked out at the city. ?It wasn?t always like that you know. We use to have to cover a huge area with no help.? He looked back at Alex. ?People would serve on Earth for a while and get burned out. So to cut down on the number of reapers who outright quit, they started allowing vacations and slowly increasing the number of Shingami serving in a given area.? ?Is that why you started teaching?? Patrick nodded, ?I didn?t want others to be stuck like I was, working non-stop without any rest or assistance.? He leaned back. ?A city this size, in my day, would have had two reapers keeping track of it instead of the six who are here now.? Only two? Alex glanced to the left; the view of the city was clear with the sun shining brightly. He found it hard to imagine. He wasn?t terribly busy but if had just been him and someone else that would have made training with someone like Nathan very difficult to do. ?I had no idea,? he finally said. ?So how long will you be staying around then?? ?I haven?t decided yet.? He waited until Alex looked back. ?Anyway, what about yourself. What have you been up to?? Alex just stared at him for a moment as he wondered just what to say. He asked me to come here for this? Movement caught his eye as one of the servers for the restaurant came over to take their order. For some reason he still didn?t feel like talking to him about Nathan training him. I?ll find something else to talk about he thought as he glanced at the menu.

Out of the two I like the overall color scheme and saying in Jeremy's work the best. I may not have liked the font, but the placing of the words was in my opinion, nicely done. Cat's piece was also well done, but it seemed to lack something to give it a finishing touch. I'm not a graphic artist so I'm not sure what was missing. Maybe something like a saying to give it a focus? Anyway, in the end I vote for Jeremy.

I hope you got pictures, after all you did say they took the time to drap things nicely and to actually use nicer TP. In my opinion, so long as they didn't do any real property damage, I'd just laugh and forget about it. =P

Sexuality: What's right or wrong?
Rachmaninoff replied to chibi-master's topic in General Discussion
Since the two previous posters so lazily decided to not read anybody's posts and just post their own opinions, i will too. But let me just say that i tried. I got near the end of the first page.
This is probably why you and I end up arguing, you jump to conclusions. =P For clarification's sake, not responding to people's points/posts doesn't automatically equal, "I didn't read them." I read every single post that goes up in this section of OtakuBoards. In this case, I saw no reason and had no desire to go into depth on the subject other than to state what I think of the initial question presented. So please don't go stating I don't read or listen to what people have to say when I actually do. -
That's actually something i thought of after i had started the thread and was laying in my bed going through the day. When i said that i don't think we should do anything "we" was anybody not actually a follower of one of those faiths. I'm agnostic and i know i have no right to tell them what they should and should not do....
I'm not just saying it should only be up to the members though. Ideally, they should be allowed to govern their own practices as much as possible, however there are times when I think outside intervention or pressure to change is good. An example of that is back when the federal government made abolishing polygamy a requirement for Utah to become a state. Sometimes, even outsiders have a right to put their foot down on what practices a church engages in. I'm not sure it would apply in this case, but I'm not going to declare that it should never happen.

I plan on posting this weekend, a bit with Patrick and Alex, I intend for it to be just a few days after Adrian has returned. If anyone has a problem with the timing, let me know. Otherwise, I'll get that up later today or tomorrow. Then we get the fun of the new villain coming up. >_> I just know he's going to be beyond evil with Allamorph and Indi in charge. *feels the urge to hide*

↑ Yes I know this is practically spam, but damn if you aren't creepy at times Allamorph. I kid you not. Plus I think I'm as just as confused as Jared is. o_O Anyway, I'll try to get a post up this weekend, since I do know what I want to do, I just need to sit down and write it. >_> Though I also need to do that for SD as well.

Sexuality: What's right or wrong?
Rachmaninoff replied to chibi-master's topic in General Discussion
I have no intention of responding to anything other than the opening post. Because when it comes to a question like this, I find it amusing that people get so worked up over what happens behind someone else's closed doors. What they do in their homes, whether straight, bi, lesbian or gay, is in my opinion, their business. The only time it's our business is if said parties are not of consenting age or if they didn't consent to the contact in the first place. Otherwise, if there are any consequences to be had, that's between them and God (if God even exists that is). -
I'm sorry, but I write with the diction I am accustomed to.
That's nice and all, but if no one has a clue what you're saying, it doesn't do you much good does it? If you're looking to convince someone of a point, it's usually a good idea to make sure they know just what that point actually is. So though you may be accustomed to it, I know I won't be taking an argument that uses game statistics as a guide seriously, at all.
