Argh...this brings back nasty memories...once, when I was six or so, I came in from playing outside and I was really thirsty. And I saw this glass full of pale yellow beverage (no jokes, or I fry you.)...I thought it was lemonade *sob*! But when I walked over and drank some...I knew it wasn't lemonade...it tasted and smelled alcoholic. I can usually smell the hideous odor of alcohol from across any lenght of space (nice talent, huh?), but I had a cold and my nose was stuffed up...and it is terrible experiences like this that I will never drink alcohol...such a nasty taste...never...will...forget...*pukes up guts*:animedepr
This is a good argument for always making your own beverages. lol Anyway, I've never had the mishap of accidentally drinking something I shouldn't have. I grew up in a household that doesn't drink so there wasn't anything in the house for me to get into. Or for my siblings to trick me into drinking either. =P

New Members: Introduce Yourselves Here
Rachmaninoff replied to Charles's topic in General Discussion
Don't worry about it NamakemonoChan, I went ahead and just merged your introduction thread into the main one we have for everyone. Anyway... Welcome to OtakuBoards, I'm sure you'll enjoy your stay here. If you have questions, just let us know and we'll help you out. -
Okay, so I finally got around to finishing Wizard's First Rule... >_> Not that I didn't enjoy it but man... those
Mord Sith's were beyond interesting. XP
I finished it but that part of the book was creepy as hell. Though I was pleased with what happened to Princess Violet.
Damn spoiled little brat.
Anyway, I plan on starting on the next one in the series, Stone of Tears. I do think that what I've read so far is well written, I just hope it's just a tiny bit less graphic in the next book. Though I imagine that hope will be in vain. lol
What idiot would spend that much on a necklace?
Someone who has more money than they know what to do with I would imagine. I think it depends on whether or not you even like that sort of thing. The only person I would call an idiot for doing that is someone who can't really afford it.
Would you spend thousands of dollars on designer clothes , shoes, or jewerly? I wouldn't, because some designer clothes look, well, weird. Even if they were knockoffs
It's not the label so much as it is finding clothing that's comfortable and for those of us who aren't rich... affordable.
No matter how rich I'm going to be, Wal-Mart, here I come!
I wouldn't be so quick to say that. =P Not to knock Wal-Mart, but you never know what you're going to find if you look around. Like James just said, sometimes you do find something that it's worth putting a little extra money into. I've done that in the past myself. Though it was for a tux for performances so I only wear it a handful of times a year.

I live in America in the state of Utah. I wouldn't say it's boring though. Like Sabrina mentioned we do have five National Parks so if you have a weekend free, there is always somewhere you can go to. Plus we have the advantage of being close to other places like Yellowstone/Teton National Park and the Grand Canyon. So it's a good place to be since there are a lot of places that are within a 6-8 hour drive. I haven't been out of the states yet, but I certainly want to. I've been to the border of Mexico, but not into it and the same with Canada... I really need to fix that one of these days. Heh.
Anyway, I don't really believe in those type of videos. Usually those kind of things turn out to be fake. About the only fun in them is seeing how the trick was done.
I do find it fun to see how they pull it off, but other than that I don't believe in them. Watching stuff like that is more just for a good laugh than anything else.
Ok before anyone gets upset I clicked no but I didn't read it carefully.
No one can see which option you chose on the poll. =P So just answer the question instead. Besides, Raiha, the thread creator, was just being sarcastic with how she worded the second option so I wouldn't take it too seriously.

Which three CDs can't you live with out?
Rachmaninoff replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in Noosphere
Lol, I'm extremely aware that he's done a lot of music, but since you are a pianist, I knew that at least you would be familiar with his piano works. His violin work is pretty okay, but I'm not one for his church music, his operas, or piano concertos. I haven't heard EVERYTHING he's ever done, and I doubt you have, but I've heard enough to know he bites, in my opinion.
No, I'm a Cellist, not a pianist. I'm familiar with his works since I am a music major and I've heard quite a bit of it, which is why I called your statement ignorant. You said all of his left hand stuff was the same which isn't true. Whether or not you like his stuff is merely a matter of opinion and personal preference. It certainly doesn't bother me if you don't care for Mozart. lol I'll still argue that he doesn't suck, even if you don't like him though. ;) After all, I personally can't stand country, but that doesn't make it bad now does it? You just don't care for it. So what? There's no reason to tell someone a composer they like bites. That's just silly and kind of rude really. There's a lot of music I don't care for and I don't expect others to like the same stuff I do. But I don't see the point in telling you that stuff you enjoy sucks because I may not like it. Anyway, that's all I'm saying, if you don't like it fine. Just don't go making declarations as to why you think it sucks when you don't really know if what you said is true or not. lol -
I don't dream. Oh- What now?
No, you just don't remember your dreams. It's common in our society for people to not recall their dreams. Dream science tells us we have dreams about every 90 minutes of sleep, more towards the end of the sleep period, for about 20 minutes per dream. This makes about six dreams per night that we are capable of recalling if we were to be awakened and asked. But there are other factors. The main one seems to be what we do immediately after waking up. If our thoughts are trained to immediately start thinking about the future the dream can forever remain lost. Thinking such thoughts as planning the day, what to wear, who we have to contact, what meetings we are going to, what's for breakfast, all lead to loss of dream recall. For some this is a lifetime habit so strong they will swear they never have had a dream. Seriously. If you fall in that category, and a lot of people do, you have to train yourself to remember your dreams since you're use to getting up and thinking they don't happen at all.
Mozart sucks, just for the record. =P (Come on, his left hand is always the saaaame!)
All you've done is prove that you probably haven't heard or learned more than a fraction of his extensive library of works. Click me! If you had, you probably wouldn't have made such an ignorant statement. Many of his works are part of the standard concert repertoire for music students for a reason after all. =P -
Kicking the Bucket: My Most Gruesome Thread Yet
Rachmaninoff replied to Lunar's topic in General Discussion
If it was only a few days before hand, that I wouldn't be bothered by knowing about. Well not too much, I would still rather not know when I'm going to die. I don't think I'd want to go in such a 'colorful' way as you've described though DeLarge. I'd settle for a pretty simple yet as pain free as possible death myself. -
That looks awesome Des. Heh. I just hope there is no actual singing from that paticular fake character. I'll have to mute it if there is. XP
Still waiting on confirmation of Hiyori and Yui.
Yeah, I hope they are in there too. Those two are just freakin' hilarious. I'll be disappointed if they're not in it.

Like James said, if you've had other things done before, you'll do fine. Plus like Aaryanna said, everyone I know who's had it done was rather pleased to have the pain dealt with. Especially once they healed up.

Obamas Oil Plan, A Step in the Right Direction
Rachmaninoff replied to Godot's topic in General Discussion
I also love how a lot of Americans think oil will just go back down to normal one day, like sub-dollar normal. Haha.
Denial is such a fun thing to watch when it comes to stuff like this. Just as it is to watch someone toss out practical advice instead of a real plan to address the issue. But that seems to be the norm for politics these days. XP -
Kicking the Bucket: My Most Gruesome Thread Yet
Rachmaninoff replied to Lunar's topic in General Discussion
I'm not interested in knowing when I'm going to do. Because if it takes knowing that in order to do the things I want to do then what's the point? I should be doing them anyway and not because I know I have only so much time left. That and I'd just worry over it when I can better spend my time doing other things. -
Dreams huh? My most recent one that was a bit annoying was where I came home to my apartment and discovered that my roommate had gotten a cat. Not that I don't like cats, but in the dream, the thing was sharpening it's claws on my Cello... I was not amused. I was about to give him a piece of my mind when I woke up.
Scary..........
Try actually elaborating next time so people know what you mean. One word posts don't really add much to the discussion. Since as you saw, someone had to actually ask which one you meant. Next time say that up front. Thanks.
The biggest thing I've noticed around here is people dropping the "r" out of words, like saying geen instead of green. o_O I had an English teacher who would verbally smack you if you did that though so I lost that habit pretty quick.
I've also heard weird things like wolf instead of wolves... It's like they make things short instead of simply saying what they really mean. I find the dropping the "r" the most annoying though.
Probably the biggest or weirdest slang for me is the lack of swearing. If you're serious about your faith, you don't do it. So people end up using something else instead. Like FINE! Instead of the F-word. I've heard some really odd phrases that make no sense when people make something up instead. XP
That always makes me laugh, all the silly replacements they come up with. Because in the end, the intent is the same so it just about doesn't matter what word they use. =P
Oh and saying "you guys" is pretty standard instead of other things like y'all. And the debate over soda or pop doesn't really exist since I hear both all the time. =P
Yeah, I rarely hear something like y'all and when I do... it just sounds out of place. I tend to use soda myself, but I've heard both and think nothing of it really.
-
My opinion is not widely held though, at least not among those I know in the same faith. Also, it's not outright said, but it is expected that one vote against rights for gays and lesbians whenever something comes up on the ballot. I don't agree with that though since that's no different than voting against someone's religion as well.
That's one of many reasons why I left that faith in the first place. Those behind the scene expectations got really old. The whole idea is for religion and government to be seperate and that just doesn't sit well with me at all. It's not seperate if they are dictating to you how you should think and how you should vote... but that's another topic really so I'll not go any further into it.

Which three CDs can't you live with out?
Rachmaninoff replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in Noosphere
I'd be more inclined to say what three composers could I not live without. It's about impossible to narrow it down to only three cd's. The one's I would miss the most if I didn't have them would be the works by Rachmaninoff, Bach and Mozart. And that's if I had no choice but to choose only three. I know that's not quite the question, but trying to narrow it down to only three albums... I'd be changing what I picked every couple of minutes since I'd be going... can't live without that... or what about this... and so forth. -
And that's my cue to stop being lazy as well. As soon as finals are over I'll get the rest of my part in so we can get this finished up. That means I should have that post up this weekend. But yeah, like Aaryanna, I've been enjoying my free time too much. >_> Though with grade preparations and tests in addition to my own classes... I really am busy this week. XP

I don't have an issue with someone like that deciding to have a child. As Indi pointed out, it's not like a man had a baby, but rather a woman who had her body, other than the obvious parts, altered so she'd look like a man. The thing I'd be worried about is what Gavin pointed out here:
I genuinely feel sorry for the child in this case, not because of what the mother/father/parent did in deciding to have a child part way through a sex-change, but because this poor girl is most certainly going to have identity issues. I mean we've already had one person refer to the child as "an abomination", and that's pretty much as harsh as you can get with an insult as to someone's existence. Regardless of whether she's healthy, and her parents love her, which I don't doubt, or at least I would certainly hope not in this situation, she is going to have to deal with terrible levels of ignorance and prejudice growing up. I wouldn't even like to guess at how many times this girl is going to have to hear the words "freak" or whatever thrown in her face, it's certainly very sad, and it's certainly going to happen.
Whether or not she had the right to do as she pleases with her body, that's something that the kid will have to deal with and I'm not sure wanting a kid is a good enough reason to put them through that kind of deal. I don't consider it an abomination but I'd still be concerned about the difficulties the kid will face. You can only hope they'll be good enough parents to prepare them for that. Only time will tell I guess.

That makes sense to me when you consider that feeding is also a form of spiritual seeding that eventually results in a human being turned, or rather it can. I don't know about the mental side of it, but the feeding angle makes perfect sense. As for Alex seeming unconcerned, he would trust Chris' and Nathan's actions so he might be surprised by it, but he wouldn't outright object. I imagine later on he'd ask questions about it if he hasn't already. Well about vampires in general that is. Anyway... *pokes Beth* I'd say this means you are next. =P
