Oh dear god. How big was your house? As I recall a cello case is roughly the size of a coffin. For a teenager.
Not all that big really and their hiding places were pretty easy to figure out. It was just their way of being brats really. Though one of them did get clever enough to put the case on my bed and then cover it with clean blankets that my mom had washed. >_> That one took me a little while to figure out since they'd never done that one before.

Favorite Physical Activities and Staying Fit.
Rachmaninoff replied to Zen's topic in General Discussion
I stay fit by doing a lot of walking. It takes no effort since just going to school does that. I have no interest in doing weights at all, or other martial arts. Mainly because I often don't have the time for it. I do like to go hiking for fun though. -
And here I was the one who inflicted the torture on others when I was first learning to play the cello when I was younger. I'm the only one in my family who took music in any form and my older brothers seemed to be convinced that I was trying to destroy their eardrums. Their answer to my needing to practice was to complain to our parents and find new places to hide my cello. Later on during college, I've had some interesting roommates as well as others living in the same building practicing. I think the one that grated on my nerves the most was a guy who had a talent for being off key. He eventually gave up on learning the violin, but while he was trying, we all cringed whenever he practiced. I'm pretty sure my practicing now doesn't really bother anyone, unless they dislike listening to cello music. I still try to practice during the morning hours when people are either at class or have left for work though.
Funny, because I make it a point to avoid Sbarro's because of the sheer grease factor. I can literally fold a slice in half and soak six napkins, and part of the seventh and eighth. So that is confoosing to me.
You'd have to come here and try both. >_> Like Beth said, for whatever reason, PizzaHut is just nastier than hell here in SLC. Besides, weirdo, I didn't say they weren't greasy, just that the others here were worse. =P
So we'll all laugh and cringe and have a grand ole' time together, but keep in mind that interrogation is srius bizniss, and so I plan on being quite....ehh, thorough about it.
>_> I'm sure you will. I am tempted to start making guesses as to how long Jared lasts since I imagine that it won't be anywhere as long as he's thinking he would. So I claim dibs on saying he cracks in four days! =P I'll also try to quit being lazy about posting, it's not a loss of interest but rather a loss of desire to do anything. All I've done is be lazy since the semester ended a month ago. I was so horribly burned out from being busy that I just wanted to take it easy for a while. Fortunately that desire to be lazy has finally fled.

Darren did not have to wait long for the Commander to return, it was a moment he was simultaneously looking forward too as well as dreading. On the one hand, he was finished with what they expected of him, but on the other it now meant they had no use for him. The only question left was what was going to happen next, something that no matter how he ran it through his mind; he couldn?t seem to find an answer to. So when the door to his cell opened to admit the tall blonde Versilan he stayed seated on the bed, leaning against the wall, waiting for him to make the first move. If there was one thing Darren had learned from working around this man, it was that he did not waste time and like always he launched immediately into the reason why he was there. ?I?m sure it will come as no surprise to you that the information checks out.? He barely waited for Darren?s negligible shake of his head before forging on. ?Our genetics specialist is convinced that if any information is missing it would have either not been sent or lost in the original transmission. The question now is what do you think we should do with you?? Darren started slightly. ?What? You?re asking me what I think you should do. It?s a little late to be asking that question.? ?You really think so? Don?t be so quick to dismiss my question Darren.? He gave him an incredulous look. ?I still think it?s far too late for that. I can?t see either side of this pointless civil war letting me do what I wanted to do from the very beginning.? ?Perhaps you are correct that it?s too late.? He gave Darren a long hard look. ?Indulge me, answer the question.? ?I had no desire to be involved in any of this, but the leader of the Resistance William didn?t give me a choice when he hacked my clearance, putting my ship in a restricted sector.? Darren folded his arms across his chest. ?I?m sure you don?t need me to tell you what the penalty is for that particular crime. It did not matter that I was innocent.? ?You seem to have done well enough just the same,? The Commander shrugged in a manner that irritated Darren to no end. ?You took that situation and used your skills to land the position of Shipping Expert for the High Council. So really, you?ll have to do better than that.? ?I?ll have to do better than that?? Darren?s voice rose a bit and he caught himself starting to come to his feet in anger. He forced himself to sit back down. ?I had no say in the matter for that either.? Darren sighed and looked away, refusing to meet his gaze. ?Just end this pointless charade, all I ever wanted was the right to work as an independent merchant. You can argue that I had a choice, that everyone always has a choice.? Darren looked back. ?I think you know as well as I do that we are often forced to do that which we despise unless we accept that our lives are forfeit. I can handle that for myself, but what right do I have to place that burden on another for them?? ?You mean your sister Kerstin.? Darren froze refusing to say anything else as he struggled to get his fear under control. Stevens had refused to let him know how Kerstin was doing and though it was hard, he had been doing his best to not think about where she was or what had happened. Is he saying?? Gods. He wanted to say something but couldn?t seem to manage to get the words out. ?Darren, I already know how you were dragged into this mess. What I don?t understand is how you refuse to see how others had no choice either; you wear your anger and disapproval on your sleeve as if no one else has been placed in the same situation.? The Commander pulled out the handheld computer that Darren had been working with and tossed it to him. ?There is no neutral ground, there hasn?t been any for centuries, and you just refuse to see it. The only way you?ll ever be free is to stand your ground.? He turned to leave and paused briefly turning back to look at Darren who was still sitting there. ?I?ll be back in a few days, I suggest you read what?s on there and consider just which side you?ll choose.?

Gaming What video game creature do you think a fellow member is like?

Indi got me going on Gankutsuou - The Count of Monte Cristo and I have to say that the death of
Franz
was sad. You knew about halfway through the episode what was going to happen. However, I found part of myself wishing that they wouldn't die. It was a very powerful moment in the series.
The show has had so many fun moments that just make me laugh out loud. Like the one where Otani later learns that the girl Seiko who
kissed him is really a boy o_O

It was funny and yet creepy at the same time.
I really love the music to this show too. There are times when they use organ music that sounds like a funky variation of Bach?s organ fugues that just totally crack me up. XD I?ve watched the first 18 episodes already, it?s hard to believe there?s only six more to go!
Agreed, the music is fun, especially the bits with the organ music. You may be close to the end and a few of the episodes are kind of like filler ones, but the ending really suits the show well. I think you'll like it.
Rach, I'm assuming that your Sbarro's in a mall, yes? Because we have several Sbarro's here in El Paso, but they're all located in malls.
You assume correctly. I have gotten stuff from places that deliver, but they're just not as good. At least not in my opinion, many of them are just too damn greasy for my tastes. So when I really want some pizza I just stop off at Sbarro's and get some to take home.
Haha... You yourself, a mod, and you don't even know that the point of these threads is to actually discuss the music. But I hear you mods have a way with linking. Interesting, indeed.
No, the true point of music is to listen to it. All the words in the world won't even come close to explaining why something means the most to you. But I digress... It's next to impossible for me to pick only a few songs that have the most meaning to me, I've come to love so many. However if you were to go on stuff that is more recent in terms of really enjoying it; as well as having meaning for me. Then I would go with this song here: Mendelssohn Violin Concerto Why does it have meaning? It's one of those pieces that no matter how my day has been, lifts my soul and just makes me feel refreshed to listen to it. Another piece that does the same is Brahms Piano Concerto No.2 Mind you this is in addition to the pieces by Rachmaninoff that I love for the same reason.
I've been re-watching Lovely Complex and decided to pick up the soundtrack to this anime since it's fun to listen too. I'd just die once I learned Seiko's secret. >_> That was one of the creepiest moments in the entire anime! lol Anyway! After re-visiting that piece I am now listening to this one here: Chopin Etudes op.25 #6,7 Nothing like some good piano music to wake up to.
do you believe in ghost.
No I do not.
What are your theories for the seemingly undeterminable haunts that occur across the world.
For something to be unexplainable only means we lack the means to actually examine what's going on if anything at all.
For me I believe that a good part of these reports are false or rather, hysteria leading people to make rash conclusions.
I wouldn't say hysteria but rather people don't like having something that is unknown so they try to give meaning to something that can't be explained. That and I've known a few who find it amusing to scare themselves over something like that even if they know the chances of it being true are pretty slim.
But i do believe that some are true. Do you think that ghost are really souls that have been sent to hell and that there lingering as spirits in this world is one form of hell.
If by saying some are true, you mean ghosts exist... I don't buy that. Plus I'd have to actually believe in hell, which I do not, for me to even consider believing in ghosts. So what do I believe in? It makes for fun silly nonsense to scare yourself with and not much else. It can be fun to take your girlfriend to movies like that... For the scream and cuddle factor. >_> But I had to go and get a girlfriend who just laughs at how silly they are so that's a bust. =P

When I actually do have pizza, Hawaiian is the best with pineapple, ham and mozzarella cheese. I also like a meat one with sausage, bacon, ham and pepperoni. I usually get it from a place called Sbarro's. I've gone to places like PizzaHut or Little Caesars, but they're not anywhere as good as Sbarro's. Plus they have far more than pizza so I end up going there for other stuff too.
Who's to say her ability to govern is actually any good? Well, the voters. And she herself will make a case, as she has tried to do. However, my point was that people can't judge her ability to govern based simply on her demeanor or on media hype. I think most people would agree with that.
I do agree that you can't judge her ability to govern based on her demeanor or the media, but the same goes for judging it based on being voted for. Voter confidence doesn't equal competency when it comes to actually governing successfully. We've certainly had people voted in who turned out to be quite the disappointment when it came to being an effective president.
If you disagree with - and understand the implications of - Clinton's policies, then you are not someone who I would include in my comments. As I said earlier, this point of view has nothing to do with which candidate is ultimately better. You can like or dislike either one. The point is just that the representation has generally not been equitable.
I figured as much which is why I came back and clarified that my decision to not vote for her was far more than how she comes across or she is presented in the media. The thing is as Kathy pointed out, people choose to only base their opinion on the media or other hype where others prefer to have someone who will do a good job. I've voted, on a more local level, for officials who demeanor wise annoyed the hell out of me, but career wise had a track record of following through on what they said they would do. So though I personally disliked them, they still got my vote just the same. I'd love to see the media be more even handed in their coverage but on some level they air what gets the most attention. Hell even here in Utah there are stories and other important discussions that never see the light of day, we have to look to other states or online sources to get our information. Anyone who really thinks the media is unbiased and fair is fooling themselves if they really think that's enough to be informed on the candidates.
When she does this, she's called arrogant. When Obama does the very same thing, he's called visionary.
I don't consider him visionary, far from it. I merely consider him the lesser of two evils as it's often referred to.
As I have stressed before - and despite how I sound here - I am not necessarily in favor of either candidate (that is to say, I don't dislike Obama or find him to be a "bad" candidate). It's just that I'm fascinated with the Obama hype machine, as so many non-Americans are. It's bizarre to watch and it's interesting to dissect, especially given some of the more glaring self-contradictions it involves.
I'm disappointed in all of the candidates to be honest, so no hype here. Obama has a lot of fluff in what he says just as Clinton has a lot of sticking to things that haven't worked in hers, something I'll address in a moment.
It's just a shame that her demeanor is granted more importance than her ability to govern. That sucks.
Who's to say her ability to govern is actually any good though? My deciding factor is that she has policies she wishes to see put into play that I don't agree with, universal health care being the first. Even if her demeanor was perfect, those things she's that she has voted for or against that are not what I want to see are the true deciding factor, her past actions speak for themselves. Hilliary Clinton on the Issues I can't speak for others, but that more than anything is why her demeanor just makes it worse, I already dislike her for the stances she takes in government. So I see no reason to vote for someone who will work to enact things I don't want to see here.
Challenge: Write a short story, 200 words or less, about rain. The taller of the two standing in that lonely placed asked as the heavy sheets of rain poured from the sky as if it too wept. He didn?t bother to turn to answer his brother but instead leaned over to place the single red rose on the cold unforgiving stone. He ran his hand along the inscription before standing back up, ignoring the rain that had soaked him to the skin. ?It will only stop when we leave.? He offered the oldest brother a sad smile before turning to leave. He did not bother to turn around to see if he followed or not. The sound of his footsteps was clear even over the murmur of the rain hitting the ground. ?I suppose you?re right.? The two left, saying nothing more. The rain would stop when it was ready and not one moment before. It would not halt the eternal rain within, nothing could do that now. Challenge: Write a poem about the sun. And here I was going to say it's because other countries look at us, laugh and avoid those pitfalls we seem to be so good at falling in. =P Oh and James, two of the biggest things that worked against Hilary Clinton (in my opinion) was first: her arrogance upfront that she would win. And two: her sense of entitlement. That air of thinking that having more experience along with having been first lady at one time somehow meant she deserved the position instead of earning it like other candidates do. I'm not saying she wouldn't do a good job or that she really felt or acted that way. What I am saying is that I know many people (myself included) who found that side of her very, very abrasive and a huge turn off. Even if that was not her intent, it still came across that way.

I have yet to fail a course, but my advice to not wait to tell them seems to be a bit late as you've already done so. I'd also recommend looking back at how you went through it the first time. Were you doing anything that contributed to failing the course? For example: did you put off homework or wait until the last minute to cram for tests? If you did then next time around you'll know what to avoid so you'll do better.
