Gaming EA tells Jack Thompson to get bent...
Rachmaninoff replied to Non Fiction's topic in Noosphere
He hasn't been served quite yet. Those were only recommendations; he won't get a real verdict for a little while, it seems.
Yeah, I read the article and was... damn when I realized it was only recommendations and not a verdict. Hopefully each and everyone will become so. -
Anyway, I've seen 2 episodes so far. My favorite part is still Lucky Channel. Fun show, this one.
Keep watching it then, trust me, the Lucky Channel goes absolutely insane near the end of the series. Plus in my opinion, the show just keeps getting better and better the further you get into it. I know I'm looking forward to seeing the OVA when it comes out. Oh and keep in mind... Konata is like a female version of Des... I am not kidding btw. Watching her in action is beyond hilarious.

And added to the first post in the NPC section... looks like Nathan won't be getting a moment alone anytime soon. *smirk* Anyway... why do I get the impression that Nathan and Isen
turned Lucia's place inside out?
I'm expecting her to return and find her
furniture either all over the place or somehow attached to the ceiling.
Heh. Now unless someone objects, though if they do I'll do it anyway, I'm going to move us into the next day/week or longer (I'm going to leave it slightly vague so it's open to interpretation). Beth hasn't told me just what Nathan and Isen did but she assured me that she can do it in a form of a flash back of Lucia remembering just what she came home to. Though that's only if I manage to post before she does, we'll see.

This one is kind of old but it still makes me laugh when I come across it. God decides it's time to have the world end. He calls in Bill Clinton, Boris Yeltsin, and Bill Gates. He tells them that the world is going to end in seven days. So Clinton goes to the American people, and Yeltsin goes to the Russian people, and they say, "We have some good news and some bad news. The good news is, there is a God. The bad news is, the end of the world is coming." And Bill Gates goes back to Microsoft and says, "I have some good news and some even better news. The good news is, I'm one of the three most important people on earth, and the even better news is we don't have to fix Windows '95!"
Or Wizard of Oz.
Actually both uses of this piece are adaptations instead of the original tone-poem by Mussorgsky. What makes Fantasia unique is it's a specially produced version based on the Rimsky-Korsakov recomposition in form and content but Mussorgsky's original in orchestration since it was edited and revised by Leopold Stokowski. Anyway, going back to works by this composer I am now listening to Pictures at an Exhibition The link is only for part one though, the rest is there if you want to follow the links and listen to the whole thing.
"Weird Al" Yankovic (Countering Rach's suggestion:smirk:)
What makes your smirk hilarious is that even though I don't really listen to his works on a regular basis, I think Weird Al's tongue in cheek manner of mocking popular songs is very entertaining. Anyway, another name for your EPIC CROSSOVER. Well name and pet... Aaryanna and dog. - OtakuBoards Sandy soooo needs to get bitten by the little fur ball. =P
*looks around* You know, I haven't been killed in quite some time. I thought it was kind of a tradition, almost; what gives, guys?
Well now that you beat us to the punch, we can't request your death anymore. =P But that's not why I'm hear, at least not directly. No, I'm here to comment that this seems like a perfect job for Gavin... to be the dark Jedi who strikes you down. Everyone knows how evil he truly is, it's like this death has his name written all over it. I know he's the first person I thought of when I read your request. :D It's up to you though so I'll shut up now...

I'll be seeing this movie over the weekend. Unless they totally mess it up I'm thinking it's going to be good. And if by some chance they do totally mess it up, I'm hoping it's a case of once being worth it. I certainly hope so since I really liked the first three... Well first and third, second wasn't exactly my favorite. XP
Damnit, I wish I had access to the Knowing Me, Knowing You (I think that's what it's called) thread so I could copy my post from there, haha.
That's a good idea. *goes to copy and paste from said thread* =P Anyway... My real name is Darren, though since there's another person here at the boards with that name, as well as using it for their user name people have taken to calling me Rach. So either one is fine by me. I'm 27 years old and currently living in Salt Lake City, Utah where I attend the University of Utah. I play the Cello and I'm working towards getting a doctorate in music right now. I actually started by joining myOtaku last year since I was curious about anime after Crystia [Indi] [strike]tied me to a chair[/strike] got me to watch Fruits Basket. I knew she was a moderator here, but I didn't really give it much thought and I didn't consider joining until later, but by then for some reason the site was closed to sign ups. Though fortunately when I checked back later it was open so I then joined OB at that point. My biggest love is of course music of a classical nature, my goal is to get my doctorate and eventually work as a professor at a university. I also work with and teach other students since doing so is required for my education, though I enjoy giving lessons so I don't mind. I also like video games such as Zelda, even though I don't have enough time to play them as often as I would like. And since I got started on anime I've continued with that and even branched into manga a bit. There's more but that will do.
I really shouldn't be laughing so much at the Purple People Eater bit but it got to me somehow.
I know my first reaction was kind of a lolwut?!? Followed by laughing at it since I could see Prem saying something absurd like that. And yes, Sabrina is right Aceburner, you have your work cut out for you. =P

Alright then, here's a suggestion for an odd character. Sergei Rachmaninoff - of course I mean the composer =P I'm sure you two could find a way to fit him into your EPIC CROSSOVER :p
-
Right now I'm listening to stuff by Modest Mussorgsky: Night on Bald Mountain If you've seen Fantasia then it's likely that you are familiar with this piece.
Also... we need moar Karl being smug! That last post made me laugh a lot. XD
Agreed. Seeing Adrian getting the disdain and contempt, as well as realizing that when it comes to fighting he doesn't even come close to someone like Nathan has been hilarious. I imagine that unlike Adrian, Karl probably got full training since he was probably around for the war with the vampires. Anyway, I find it interesting that Sarvel seems to be able to sense
vampires (those dead spots)
Those two had better not go looking for one of the dead spots or they'll end up in trouble. Though that could be a rather interesting way for them to find out that
vampires
are still around. Heh.

Does anyone believe in love at first sight???
Rachmaninoff replied to Lunar's topic in General Discussion
I think the main problem we're having here is that Love is almost undefinable. It just seems that Knuckles' Girls personal definition of love is different from ours. And there's nothing that will change that.
That's really the key isn't it... personal definition. Just as the other point is the thread was asking what you believed. And in my case, I don't. I'm not expecting her to change her opinion on the subject. Just as I'm not going to change mine.
So I ask you all this, what is your definition of Love?[/COLOR']
Others have already been stating what they think love is, and at first sight is what it's not, in my opinion. The real problem with the concept of "love at first sight" is that there is often a concept that it's all emotional or magical when there's a lot of other factors such as physical ones that you respond to. Perhaps you like blondes or tall women, that sort of thing. So you can run into that "instant" attraction, but whether or not that goes further is going to depend on factors such as having common interests or rather connecting beyond that first moment. So the idea that "love at first" sight can somehow happen, conveniently overlooks the fact that you have that "instant" connection happen all the time; only most of the time other than a date or two or that glance, nothing comes from it. Sure you can argue that it wasn't real love, but I'll argue that so-called "love at first sight" is being mistaken for that chemistry that attracts you to someone in the first place. Whether or not it becomes a true love is something that happens after you get to know the person further and come to care about them because you know them. That takes time and effort and didn't happen the moment you met them. Of course you're going to look back fondly at the first moment you met and it will feel like "love at first sight" after all, it's likely you've had similar experiences that didn't go anywhere so the one that did is going to feel special. -
I don't really care for energy drinks. Not only do most of them smell awful, but if you have one on a regular basis, it adds up. Take my roommate, he gets one that runs between $1.50 - $2 per bottle. Since he usually has at least three or more a week... that just adds up into an expense that seems unnecessary in my opinion. When you're a college student, everything is about how much it will cost you in the long run. And I can think of lots of things that I'd rather spend the money on. I do have soda with caffeine in it from time to time, but that's about it. And if I'm really tired, I have an herbal tea that's healthy and does a better job of waking me up.
Heh, careful now Police Chief, just because the King happens to be making things more democratic doesn't mean you New Czenoble peasants have the right to go tell the nobility what to do, if we feel like solving thing with violence rather than words, in the name of personal honour, it's our choice. Seriously though, does Alexander have the power to change laws as well as enforce them ? Sounds like he's trying to step outside his powers there. ^_~
No, only the power to present the suggestion to do away with the law and let the people decide for themselves. That and he'd be thinking of people gaining better rights and therefore potentially wishing to challenge said nobility to a duel over perceived wrongs done to their families over the years. He'd be looking to clarify just what back wrongs could be pursued as well as making sure people didn't get off on a frenzy of avenging past wrongs. Anyway, it's been fun, seriously. Even with all the drama, definitely don't forget Sandy that it will also be remembered for being a huge drama fest. :p But that usually ends up in making you appreciate getting to the end even more since it means you didn't give up. Anyway, I've enjoyed working with all of you. :catgirl:

Does anyone believe in love at first sight???
Rachmaninoff replied to Lunar's topic in General Discussion
Trying to apply relativism to the concept of love at first sight are you Allamorph? Anyway, my thoughts mirror what Indi just explained. I won't argue that you can't instantly connect with someone, but to go so far as to claim it's love? Rose colored glasses indeed. Now if you were to argue that one needed that connection for something to develop into love, that would be more believable since you do need something that would even prompt you to want to get to know the person better. -
I was more so amused by the fact the majority of the US's Top Searches are porn sites.
If they're not accurate on the apparent worth of a website, what makes you think they are somehow accurate for what the supposed "United States Top Searches" is? Anyway, it was semi amusing to check out a few websites, but the entertainment value wore off fairly quickly.
Funnily enough Darren, that's exactly how I pictured it, I probably just didn't elabourate enough. Alexander would have gone to try to stop the duel, while Leonhart and Albrecht would have held him back, with Bavaria explaining the legality of it and that he cannot interfere, regardless of his personal feelings. I thought it was a good way to get a "normal" person's view on something that would be not quite common, but acknowledged as "proper" among the nobility.
What an absurd family, to stand by and not only do nothing, but to stop the only one there who has the sense to do something about it... It's a good thing that a lot of that is going to change with the government being restructured along with other aspects like the police and so forth. You can bet that one of the first things Alexander is going to do is move to have that bit about duels being legal revoked. :p

Lots of things make me laugh, from comics like the vgcats to stuff by Eddie Izzard. Cake or Death anyone? I also like watching some of the older British comedies when I get the chance. Like Keeping up Appearances or Are you being served. Some of those older shows are totally hilarious. I know if I had a neighbor like Hyacinth Bucket, I'd move. XP It's fun to watch though.

Well first off, I am not a graphics artist and I?m also assuming that even with your wording boothten it was not your intent that this only be for someone who exclusively made their entire set. If it was then you might want to clarify that bit. Anyway just to be clear, for my own set, I made the avatar but the banner was made by SunfallE. Anyway, with that said? What I like about your avatar and banner jigglyness is how clean and clear the picture is. It?s not vivid color wise and I think that works in its favor actually. I do find the font for the J kind of distracting as if it?s just there instead of flowing with the banner. Also, the black border for the banner is distracting in that it seems a tiny bit awkward when put together with the avatar. EDIT:
At least hers match, lol.
I do have a banner that matches the avatar that I made. :p I switched it out when Beth and I decided to go with matching ones for the rpg we are in. Anime Which series grabbed you from the start?
Rachmaninoff replied to Nekova's topic in Otaku Central
Out of everything I've watched, the ones that have drawn me in the most have been shows like Fruits Basket, Lucky Star and Lovely Complex. I really enjoy slice of life and romantic comedies so those type of series, especially when they are good, always tend to just grab my attention. -
Out of all the pets we had when I was growing up, the dogs were the best. We had a few cats but for whatever reason we always seemed to end up with the dumbest and stupidest ones out there. Including one that had a thing for power cords and eventually killed itself by chewing through one and getting electrocuted. And that was after we did our best to keep the stupid thing away from stuff like that in the first place. Sadly, he was gifted at finding ways to get to the cords anyway. o_O Though one of our dogs wasn't much better and ironically his problem came from being smart. Problem solving smart. The things that dog (he was a schipperke) figured out how to get into was astonishing at times. Once, he managed to remove the child resistant binding on the top cabinet in the bathroom, get a bottle of pain killers on the top shelf and then open that up and eat the whole thing. We were just lucky that there wasn't much in the bottle to begin with.

That's one of the longest OCC I've ever seen, it's like an entire post in itself. Also, even though I have no problem with you wishing to end it like that; this part is a problem and a serious misplay of Alexander:
As you might expect, the rest of the characters are horrified by what is about to occur, particularly the law-abiding non-noble Alexander, although he is made aware by Leonhart that the duel is legal and there's nothing any of them can do to stop them.
Legal or not, he would have never stood by and done nothing. As you pointed out, he is not a noble, other than by marriage, so respecting the right of a duel, especially one brought on by the grief of a funeral... That just wouldn't have happened. Someone would have had to physically stop him from attempting to put an end to that duel. I'm not kidding either. Anyway, at this point it doesn't matter. Also it sounds like Harriet didn't last long after that which means long before Beth's post... there would have been a funeral for her as well.
