1. When I ask the question: What do you look for in a relationship? I?m talking more than the usual take of say a boyfriend/girlfriend. This can apply to what you look for in a friend as well. I?ll start with what I look for in other people though this will kind of apply to both because I think the best relationships that are more than just friends, start from being good friends first. Personally, I tend to look more for traits such as honesty, a good sense of humor and at least some similar tastes as mine and yet differences too. Something you both like and the fun of introducing each other to new things. I see both types of relationships this way really, I like having a diverse bunch of friends. Instead of only hanging out with people who have the same interests that I do. Also, having someone you can talk to about anything is always great. So? what about the rest of you?
  2.
You are creating an anime. Doesn't matter what genre or the animation budget- it's yours, and it is definitively an anime, and not an American animation. My question is: Would you choose to have animated for Japanese dialogue with English subtitles, or have it made for English? I know it's a slightly moot point as lip-flaps on the whole aren't particularly English or Japanese in their construction either way, but I'm interested to know what people think. I know there'd be a lot of bizarre logistics that would have to go on (i.e. translation, re-translation, etc etc), but this is purely from a hypothetical point of view.
It would depend, if the cultural references in it are clearly of my own origin or rather American, then I would stick to the native language that fits it, I don?t know enough about the Japanese culture to really get it right unless I had help. So I?d stick with what I know. And my opinion is that with a good cast, dubbing can be as good if not better than the subbing.
Do you think it would affect the quality if English were the original intended language of the animation?
No. I do not. Like I said, I am not Japanese so doing it in the language that I understand is better than trying to fit into something I don?t. It would in my opinion flow a lot more naturally than if it was in Japanese.
I suppose another question is, what would your dream production team be for an anime? Which studio would you like, which director, which composer, seiyuu/voice actor, etc etc. I would elaborate on my choices further but I need to walk meh doggies. A final question, which is just as an aside, really: Have there been any anime produced that were made for English dialogue? I know Moon Sang Kim's Sky Blue was animated twice- once in Korean (where it was called Wonderful Days) and once in English, and Mad House animated the first episode of Megas XLR, but is there anything else that people have seen?
I have no idea really, I?d probably have to look into it to see which and who I would like, if I was to ever be in this position that is. Heh. As for stuff made for English dialogue? I?m sure there is, but I?m not familiar with any.
  3. After watching the movie Newsies, I went and got a copy of the soundtrack to it, so currently I'm listening to the song Seize The Day Not only is the song fun, but so is the movie. I highly recommend both. For a musical it's well done and the songs are catchy and memorable. So far, there isn't a single song for this that I don't like.
  4.
The introduction thread seems to be quite full, so I made my own!!
The more the merrier actually, so stick around in here with everyone else.
the rumor that we are all insane is just that... a rumor
:p And as James already said, welcome everyone.
  5.
Rach, I already have plans for the big happy Stark family, so don't you worry about that... ;D
Like I said, Donner needs to DIE. :p Beyond that I'm good. Also, you didn't answer the question as to what you'd like to see done with the Princess, knowing if you just want her out of the way or dead makes a big difference as to the type of suggestions we would give you.
  6.
Gosh Gavin, leave some things for people to figure out on their own. I'm just kidding. Waiting on James' follow-up post to mine.
Oh that was the first thought I had upon reading the post, it was clear that the Air-General was a traitor.
On to another issue, now that the coronation ceremony is done with, I'd like to get Augustine[/B'] out of the equation in some meaningful way. So throw some suggestions my way, if you will! I'm thinking that her twin brother Augustus could have something to do with it...
As in dead or as in put in a position where she can't do anything? Dead is fine by me, she is a "horrible little yip dog" after all it seems. :animesmil But putting that aside, good grief! I sign in and there is a lots of posts to catch up with. XP All of you have been rather busy with those posts... Also, Donner needs to DIE. Just making that clear.
  7.
;806604']And remember, don't get caught. Cops have no sense of humour.[/FONT']
Ain't that the truth. XP Though us teachers have no sense of humor either. :p Unavoidable I suppose, for stuff like this that is. Heh.
  8.
Anyway, I'm not really sure when I'll get a chance to post as I've had very little time this weekend for a variety of reasons. It seems that we've gone passed the idea of having the Almagests working on the clue pieces for the moment, so really I imagine Daedalus will return to the Sentinel after going to the coronation, seeing as it'd probably part of his official duties.
I would imagine that they ended up solving it together over dinner, even though it wasn't discussed or put into someone's post. Pity you had no time to post though, especially after I went to the trouble of putting Daedalus in Harriet's clutches no less. XP One other thing, considering this in Crystia's post:
Not that the weather would stop anyone from attending the official coronation for their new ruler. He couldn't help but smile over at least one thing, being on the Sentinel meant it was unlikely he'd have to attend any silly social function. [/SIZE']
That just begs for Harrison to get dragged along. You know that right? :p
  9. For the longest time Darren just stared at the reader that the blond Versilan had given him, warring between relief and anger over what he had just watched. Relief that it seemed that Mike was still alive; anger that they had used the truth drugs to interrogate him. Sure it was better than using torture but still, Mike had given up a lot of information that he?d rather the New Alliance didn?t know about. It was likely they knew anyway, but the personal questions that were nothing more than a means to find out how he felt about certain things and individuals? It took a lot of effort for him to simply put the thing down instead of smashing it into one of the walls, especially after the second video, which was nothing more than a reminder that there was no reason for him to endure torture when they?d get what they wanted anyway. It reminded him painfully of how the military had done the same, given him no choice but to cooperate. Making him wonder just what was in the message that would warrant so much effort to coerce him. I?m screwed, he thought. No matter what I do, I can?t win. Even if I resist, it won?t matter to the High Council. I?ll still be considered a traitor. The only problem with that was how it would affect Kerstin, he was fairly certain that she would never believe that he was a traitor. She knew him better than that. And he was fairly certain that nothing would happen to her, if she had even returned to the fleet that is. That bothered him more than anything, not knowing what she was up to. Darren hadn?t realized just how much time had passed until the door to his cell opened again to admit the silver haired Versilan. Darren didn?t bother to get up off the small bed, there was no point really. He just waited for him to speak. ?It?s time Darren, what is your decision?? Darren laughed, ?You speak as if I really do have a choice.? ?We always have choices Darren, even if we don?t like what they are.? ?Bullshit.? Darren said bitterly. ?Not that it matters.? He looked away. ?You can keep telling yourself that lie? Hell you might even believe it!? Darren turned back and glared at him. ?You?re no better than the damn High Council, twisting others to get what you want.? He fought to keep his anger under control. ?They didn?t give me a real choice either so I hardly expect the same from you.? Darren picked up the reader and tossed it at the Versilan who merely caught it, saying nothing. Something that just made him even angrier for some reason, forcing him to attempt to clamp down on that anger before he said something he?d really regret. Even if it made him feel like a traitor towards a group he felt had betrayed him in the first place; he didn?t want to get tortured when they?d get what they wanted anyway. God damn stupid? It took the pain of his fingernails digging into his own palms to bring him back to his senses a bit. Darren took several deep breaths before finally finishing, not looking at the Versilan who was patiently waiting for him to get his anger under control. He didn?t want to make eye contact or he really would yell at him, something that in his position, wasn?t a bright idea. ?Fine.? He said through clenched teeth, ?I?ll sort the damn data for you.? He finally looked at the man who was watching him, his expression unreadable. Darren waited for him to speak and then snapped when it became apparent he wasn?t going to say anything. ?Unless you intend for me to start right now?? He glared at him. ?I?d rather be alone, so unless you object, I?d like for you to get the hell out of here.? The man just raised an eyebrow at that and nodded. ?Fair enough, I?ll be back for you in a little while.? Darren watched as he turned and left, taking the reader with him. Once the door was shut he slammed his fist into the wall of the cell, cursing under his breath. I just can?t win, no matter what I do, I keep getting caught up in these messes. With a sigh he curled up on his side on the small bed, ignoring the food he had been given earlier in the day since he still had no appetite. Then, because he was more exhausted than he realized, he feel asleep.
  10.
Why not throw eggs and flour like everybody else?
One of my buddies did that last year, when he got his bachelor's degree. Or rather something similar, egging the other students at the graduation ceremonies. As funny as it seemed to be, the campus police were not amused and he got arrested for it. Though he got cut loose later, after being fined that is. XP So if you do follow through, as others have said... don't get caught.
  11. And the fun at the Royal Police Guard Headquarters has begun. XP Point of reference, mainly for Muse. Alexander is going to claim that Henry was attempting to stop Gaul Rosier from leaving the place for the coronation. To detain him just long enough so he'd be there when the attack started. As if what he did was part of the plan, whether or not the others will actually believe that is another story. XP
  12. "That was a bad idea, Henry. A very bad idea. Stay close to me. It's about to start." In a way, Alexander could admire what Henry had just tried to do and yet at the same time he wondered if Henry realized just how precarious his position was for having done it. As a guard member, Alexander knew that their ranks held a lot of Underdog members, especially on account of his own superior officer being one. It made telling anyone in the rpg about what was going to happen too much of a risk. He also knew how unforgiving Gaul Rosier really was. There wasn't a guard member who didn't, one was either loyal to him or one simply did their best to not draw attention to themselves if their opinion differed. But now, after what Henry had just done, he'd be lucky to get out of the building alive, unless he did something to prevent it. He had hoped that his message addressed to either Dwalish or Daedalus would arrive in time but it was clear now that it was too late. If only he hadn't hesitated, waiting until morning to send it. Putting himself in the position of needing to use a letter instead of having a wire sent. He couldn't risk a wire, the operator would have been privy to the message. But if he had sent the letter last night instead of this morning... It didn't matter now. Alexander signed inwardly as he kept heading down the hallway towards where people were detained. Henry in tow. He had no plans to lock Henry up though, all he had to do was wait for the fighting to start and he could conveniently not make it there in time. But for now, he couldn't afford to make a move towards getting him out of the building instead. But the closer they got to the cells and the more time Henry had to recover, the more he began to start to pull away from Alexander a bit. "Stop that. You need to stay close." Alexander continued in tones only loud enough for Henry, tightening his grip on him. The last thing he needed was for him to pull free and attempt to take off. Henry, to the best of his knowledge, had no training on how to fight at all. He wouldn't last five minutes on his own. "Stay close to you? You're one of them!" Henry objected, starting to attempt to pull free when he realized where they were heading. As his struggles increased, Alexander did the only thing he could think of, pulling him into one of the interrogation rooms and closing the door behind him, blocking Henry's attempts to brush past him, his expression becoming panicked. Before he could work himself into a state, Alexander slapped him, causing Henry to stagger back in surprise. "Stop that! I'm not going to hurt you! It's not what you think!" "Not what I think? I saw you at the Jockey?s Club!" "What you saw and what's really going on isn't the same thing!" Alexander insisted, grabbing Henry's shoulders before he could move out of the way. "Please you have to trust me if you want to get out of here alive." He looked straight at him, trying to get him to see that he was serious, to get past the distrust and fear he could see in Henry's eyes. Whether or not it worked, he didn't get the chance to find out as the sounds of fighting reached their ears. Alexander let go, whirling around to face the door. Moving over in quick strides and then opening it up a crack to take a look. It had started. Hell! Which meant the Jockey's were out side on their Chimera's drawing the guard outside as planned, all so the Underdogs could be let into the building via the tunnels under the city. Alexander's own superior officer was the one who would open up the entrance from the inside. Any hope that the military would arrive to stop it was moot at this point. And Rosier had been on his way to the coronation and was likely long gone. He closed the door and turned back to find Henry watching him with a guarded expression on his face. Alexander didn't have time to convince him to trust him, he probably didn't even have time to get him to the rear exit before the Underdogs from the tunnels below stormed the place. "I don't suppose you have any training on how to fight?" "A little." Alexander sighed and then pulled free his police baton, tossing it to Henry who caught it, his expression slightly confused. He ignored the look, pulling his sword free as he reached for the door handle. "Follow my lead, I'm going to try and get you to one of the rear exits before the other Underdogs arrive. They'll be entering through the entrance to the tunnels in the lower levels of the building." He met his gaze, once again trying to convey how deadly serious he was about helping him get out of the building. "It's unlikely we'll make it before they arrive so I'm going to try and get you past them. Let me do the talking, just keep your mouth shut and stay close." Alexander opened the door and made for the rear entrance, only pausing long enough to make sure Henry was actually following him.
  13. Even though this is a bit of a killjoy post here, my suggestion would be to not do it. Getting on the roof, pointing something towards the people on the ground... when it's likely that those who are on the ground might not recognize that it's a soda bottle... use your brain and think here. That's like an instant recipe for disaster considering how paranoid schools are these days.
  14.
Well since Rach brought it up... I nominate him to do it.
Why did I know you were going to say that? XP I suppose that's fair, maybe, I mean I can see you saying I should do it, after all you're doing Silver One, but still. Anyway, I'll go over some of the details with each of you next time I catch you on AIM, it will be much easier than attempting to do pm's or using this thread. Once we get things a little more decided, I'll start the new thread. Like Allamorph said, some spring cleaning is in order.
  15. I had a thought here, now that we finished up with the last bit in regards to the the plot set up by DB. [Namely the Count] Since DB left the rpg and handed control over to us three months ago, I think it might be a good idea to re-organize stuff. Get the pictures we want, the information we intend to keep and set up a new backstage to better suit the rpg. That way, we can set up a post like Beth has for Silver One. With all the relevant information and better yet, the ability to edit things as we see fit. I know that Crystia can do that, but it doesn't seem right to alter DB's posts if you know what I mean. But personally, I'd like to trim out all of the stuff we aren't going to use and get things organized, at least for the backstage. The main thread is fine of course.
  16.
I'm sorry, Rach, but this isn't making much sense to me. You say my hint was useless, but it got the riddle solved, didn't it? And you say the riddle was interesting, but it was also boring. Huh? XD
Sorry, what I mean is I already knew it was a cipher which is what the deal with Rikku and the fake language is. It's a type of cipher, so your clue told me what I already knew. :p Sorry I wasn't clear, you see, I was hoping you'd give us one of the actual letters for the switch going on. Like a freebie. Also, nothing personal, those type of riddles don't interest me, so though I think they clever, I don't find them fun to solve. You could say the same about the music one and I wouldn't be offended. To each his own right? ;)
  17.
Well, it's not Al-Bhed, I've worked out that much already. Any chance of a slightly less vague/esoteric clue ?
I'd agree with this since as I said before, I already knew it was a type of ciphers/word puzzles/codes. That hint of yours Sandy was rather useless. I already knew what you told Beth. But since Raiha has solved it, the point is moot. Which is good really. Because though I think such things are interesting, I hate solving them since I find them boring, so I wasn't planning on really trying. XP
  18.
What you need to concentrate on is passing high school with good grades so that you can get into a good school, etc.
That's it right there. I'd follow her advice. You're young Prem and in all honesty, school at this stage is far more important. Focus on that instead. It's a hell of a lot more relevant than worrying over your ex-girlfriend. I can just about guarantee you that she won't be the last ex you'll end up with.
  19. Well this won't be every movie I've watched this year, but I will list one that so far is one of the most memorable. Newsies: It's a musical that is loosely based on the true story of the New York newspaper boy strike of 1899. Basically the story is about the newspaper publishers who seek an increase in profits, they decide to increase their profits by charging more to the kids who sell their papers. Instead of paying the increase, they start a strike. The songs are lively and quick to catch on, they really suit the movie well and the rest of the music for the film is good as well. It's got it's flaws, one being that it utterly flopped when it was first released back in 1992, but it's definitely worth seeing once. I'll probably end up getting a copy of the music to this at the very least. XP
  20.
Yes, the text in the latest Landmark does mean something, so have fun finding out what it says! ;D
That's great. However, ciphers/word puzzles/codes aren't my thing, at all. I'll try to help but honestly, I really have no interest in putting in the time to figure something like that out. I've never found those type of puzzles fun, ever. Unless there is some sort of clue, I don't see myself really being of much help for this landmark.
  21. I assume the formal coronation is the following day? Anyway, I left it vague as to what each person explained to Daedalus and now, everyone is past that point. Though I couldn't resist leaving him in Harriet's clutches. Hehe. I'd say that is going to be a very interesting conversation. :p Anyway, if I got anyone wrong, let me know and I'll edit the post. >_> That was a lot of people to keep track of. XP
  22. ?Now it's about time someone explains to me what is going on here.? As Captain Oref's unconscious body was dragged away by two members of the military, those who were in the study got up and moved with Daedalus back to the main receiving chamber, the sight meeting Daedalus's eyes causing him to wince a bit. Not at the rest of the family that had been showing up and were escorted to the main room, but rather the arrival of Harriet and the interesting look in her eyes. It was chaotic as many people were talking at the same time, lending to the air of confusion over why the military was at Rosengard. Some of them confused while others clearly angry. "What is going on here?" Macey was the first to address Daedalus when he returned with the others, clearly angry, before he could respond Victoria Ann bounced over to where he was, looking up at him with a look of astonishment on her face. "You look funny Uncle Daedalus." She commented, having never seen him in anything other than a uniform. "Victoria!" Beatrise moved to snatch her, grasping her by the shoulder, she looked to Daedalus. "Unless you need us to stay here, I don't know anything about this Gadget boy." She waited for a simple shake of his head and then took her out, grabbing Charles on her way. "Hey!" He protested and then stopped and her serious glare. "You don't know anything either and all we'll do is get in the way." The three left the room in the direction of the kitchens, probably with the intent to see to the dinner that had been interrupted. Once they had left everyone started speaking at once, causing Daedalus to raise his hand for silence, something he got immediately. A short look in Gustave's direction got a shrug as he didn't know what was going on either. "I was invited to dinner by Lady Catherine," He explained, a quick glance at Catherine who nodded confirmed it. Bavaria who was regaining her composure spoke up. "I sent for the guard after that traitor Gadget admitted that upon meeting the Starks at the Chimera cup he went with them and learned that Leonhart is alive." She would have said more but Fauntleroy snickered a bit. "Of course he went with them, they are his parents after all." Startled at that statement, everyone got going again, forcing Daedalus to practically shout for silence. Alecia at that point choose to go over and practically drag Fauntleroy over to one of the chairs. "You need to stop gallivanting about with that arm of yours!" She declared angrily, tossing a glare at Daedalus as if daring him to stop her from checking his wound. "That's not his fault," Eva started to say and then fell silent, moving to stand next to Macey who was watching the whole thing with an unreadable expression on her face. It took a while, but each member explained what they knew to Daedalus, at least as much as they were willing to. It was certainly one of the most confusing evenings ever spent at Rosengard. Alexander was finishing up with what he knew when Catherine spoke up. "I'm sorry to interrupt," She smiled a Daedalus, "But I'm afraid I need to get going or I'll be late for the parent teacher meetings at Chaos." As if that statement broke the tension, people began to filter out, Macey taking Gustave in the direction of the dinning area with Eva following along. "I should get going too," Alexander said with a glance at Alecia. "I may have guard business later on, but beyond that I'll be around if you need anything else." "Go ahead Alexander," Harriet finally spoke up. "I want to talk to Daedalus." Her expression was firm and moments later, everyone had left the two alone in the main receiving chamber.
  23. Those ridiculous cliches were both painful and funny to read. And they were well suited to the trio that were using them. Heh. Seems like you need more death requests now. Can't help you there though, I'm already dead and I wouldn't know who to request that you kill next anyway. XP
  24.
Bah, with the way the Guard are acting of late, you'd think he'd be happy to see a more highly trained force. That, and at least we don't have to deal with traitors in our ranks. ^_~
That's the problem though, he doesn't know that. He's just understandably nervous after what he had to do or rather say to his superior. Now as far as where we are currently with Daedalus arriving at Rosengard... I'm not sure where to run with it. XP So is someone else going to advance that part of the story?
  25. And so is Jared... getting himself in trouble that is... Ha! About time he got clobbered! Uh... I mean... poor guy. *laughs* Anyway... that was a fun surprise, him getting nailed instead of the person he was after. I'll be curious to see how that plays out. Since I imagine he's in for a rough time. Heh.
