1. I haven't been visiting art forums for a while because I've been busy with art stuff, but things have calmed down a bit so I'm back. Here are 3 of the latest things I have online. This was a commission for http://magicmigs.deviantart.com/ , I've done stuff for him in the past but this one is my favourite so far. The way it works with his stuff is he sends me his sketch, I clean it up, fix anything that needs fixing and then ink and colour it. This was done as a vector (getting the screentones done as a vector was tricky) and with as little colour as possible. This was an image I drew and inked a while back that I finally got around to colouring. I used this to try something new with the colouring of lines. I think it'll come in really handy in the future. I made some brushes in Photoshop to simulate pencils and this was me trying them out by going over an old comic page of mine and updating it a little. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v252/baby-marshmallow/classics/classic_08.jpg Thanks for looking. My Deviantart account: http://baby-marshmallow.deviantart.com/
2. Had some trouble with the PSD files so ended up colouring this multiple times, that was frustrating but it's finally finished. Totally cell coloured style, I usually mix a bit of gradient or something with sky and so forth but decided to keep it all perfectly consistant for this one. Pencils: http://baby-marshmallow.deviantart.com/art/Beach-Cover-Commission-pencils-122714670 Inks: http://baby-marshmallow.deviantart.com/art/Beach-Cover-Commission-inks-136276339 The greyscale tone reference I did before the colouring seems to have some charm, some of which I don't think transferred over to the completed coloured version. With the colour flats I didn't notice but now with the completed image I'm wondering whether I should have made the flowers a different colour to cut down on the abundant blue/green in the image a bit. The character colours were all decided by the client but I had free reign over the background and environment, what do you think? Nevith is (c) Asha Francis Anyways, thanks for looking

Dog

Commission that didn't pan out, so now it's just another piece in my gallery. Pencils and greyscale: http://baby-marshmallow.deviantart.com/art/Dog-131532559 This was a good chance to test out my new brushes on fur, unfortunately it still didn't come out as smooth as I'd like. Since the colours were supposed to be easily changed by the client for different colour variations the shadows and so forth were done in greyscale and the colours were just a multiply layer above those; convenient, but doesn't allow for very much colour mixing which is unfortunate. Strange thing now is that I'm trying out painting with the pencil tool and my old default brushes and it seems to yield better results than the custom brushes I made just for that particular purpose....go figure. Thanks for looking.
4. 4 small things I didn't think each deserved an entire thread so I decided to let 'em share. Simple drawing of a friend's character that inked, after posting the pencils I got some notes about the face and changed stuff, made a world of difference. ------------------------------------------------------------ Old image of mine that I re-inked because I wanted thinner lines and then added in some simple screen tones. ------------------------------------------------------------ Old cartoony image I did years ago of a friend that I finally got around to colouring because I wanted to try out some new brushes I made in Photoshop. ------------------------------------------------------------ Pokemon-esque mascot design I did for a potential commission that didn't happen but I decided to I want to finish the image so I should get around to colouring it soon. And that's that. Thanks for looking. 5. The larger version on Devart is better: http://baby-marshmallow.deviantart.com/art/Toy-Princess-inks-118017354 Pencils and image description here: http://baby-marshmallow.deviantart.com/art/Toy-Princess-pencils-97523729 My Website: http://marshmallowpalace.atspace.com/entrance.htm
6. Here is something I was hired to do, a small scene with two original characters. The client was very specific about the different elements and objects they wanted in the scene. The most challenging thing I think was finding the right angle to display it all in the limited space. Characters Simon Risa and Amir Nevith are copyright Asha Francis. Pencils: Inks: Colour flats: Cell colouring: Oh and I'm not allowed to put these up for criticism but I am running a kind of poll, which one do you think is better night: http://baby-marshmallow.deviantart.com/art/Accepted-Evil-Commish-colours-106158797 or day: http://baby-marshmallow.deviantart.com/art/Hyacinth-Commish-colours-112553935 Thanks for looking.
7. Really, that's what the client calls her. I was commissioned to do a bust of http://roxotaku.deviantart.com/ 's original character based on the description she gave me. These were the first pencils I did but ultimately this version was scrapped and I ended up doing over the image from scratch imputting the changes she wanted. The top of the hood was removed, the hairstyle changed so that it was tied up and overall the image was turned into more of a simple profile headshot. You can find the completed approved commission here: http://baby-marshmallow.deviantart.com/art/Accepted-Evil-Commish-colours-106158797 Thanks for looking.
8. I had about eight for a while but slowly I'm building my library. This is the first set of 30, they're all pretty basic, I haven't started on any really unique ones yet (altho two here were total accidents and turned out to be pretty original I think). Since I created them and can make them as big, small, dark or light as I want or alter them on the fly, it turns out they can be pretty versatile in illustrations, that means it may turn out to be a little while before set number 2 comes into being. This is one of the things I've used this set on so far (well only 5 tones on this image). The image was drawn by my friend http://paper-domino.deviantart.com/ and I inked it and then used it as toning practice. You can find the inked version without tones here: http://baby-marshmallow.deviantart.com/art/Maurice-Inked-82422157 Thanks for looking. 9. Finished adding some colour to my personal cross design. I tried to incorporate all of my favourite colours in there but purple just clashed with everything so I went with yellow instead. Kept it pretty simple and I think it works....at the very least I'd say the whole thing is very 'unique' lol. Thanks for looking. My Deviantart account: http://baby-marshmallow.deviantart.com/
10. No, the background isn't supposed to be metal, it is more like marble. I fell in love with Adobe Photoshop 6.0 a loooooooong time ago, I've tried the newer versions but to me 6.0 serves my needs just right, it's got great customization options and while I do miss one or two things that I tried out in the new versions I always come back to 6.0. Thanks for looking and sharing your thoughts.
11. I drew this a good while back as an experiment. I just wanted to get an idea what my comics would look like at my current skill level so I chose a random small panel from an old comic of mine and redid it. I like the results; I'm not quite sure how I would feel about using textures in the background often but it didn't turn out too bad here right? Toy Princess

Thanks, I absolutely love clean lines, scratchy lineart annoys me more than it probably should. Arg, I feel old, I wish I was 3 years younger (actually I wish I was 7 years younger, lol, if I'm going to wish might as well wish big).
13. Firstly I finished the pencils for this image as a Birthday present to myself. This was one of the first things I started when I first got my tablet, my friend http://paper-domino.deviantart.com/ and I took on an art challenge to each come up with an original character (he came up with this: http://paper-domino.deviantart.com/art/OC-Wentworth-75208915) and I wanted to give my character a unique ability. Whenever her blood comes into contact with a toy it reacts with it, in some cases making the object self aware and conscious or simply turning it into a weapon that can actually do damage, for instance a water gun shoots acid, a toy light sabre actually becomes a real laser etc etc. I drew the main image quite a few months ago but I never bothered to show it anywhere because I knew that it wasn't finished without a background, which I was determined to finish tonight so that it would finally be completed before my birthday at midnight, I'm pretty happy. You can find a slightly larger version here at my Deviantart page: http://baby-marshmallow.deviantart.com/art/Toy-Princess-pencils-97523729
14. Just felt I had to draw this character since he's been kicking around in my head for a couple weeks. Still just a very vague idea but who knows I may end up doing something with it. 15. Simple giftart for my friend http://paper-domino.deviantart.com/ of his character Saori. It was sitting half finished on my HD for a while, so I decided to finally put it to bed. I only used one image for reference with this, the headshot the creator drew so long ago and I inked and coloured http://baby-marshmallow.deviantart.com/art/Spikeblack-s-Saori-29134992 .
