I don't think I'm superstitious.. though I must say that for me, anyway, it seems like if anything out of the ordinary happens, it's something good, not something bad... One thing that's always bugged me about superstitions.. airplanes don't have a row numbered 13... that's never made sense to me.. it's not like it matters if you number it 14, it's still the 13th row....
But don't get me wrong, we sneer and jeer at you behind your back.
hehe... I've got some fond memories of tourist-mocking... and of course, now I never want to be one... Anyway.. I live, for the moment, on Long Island, New York. I was born here (Long Island) but we moved to texas when I was 5... then we moved to India, then I went to school in Thailand for 5 years, so I'm not from anywhere in particular... I don't know anything about people here... cos I don't go anywhere (yes, pitiful I know) Where I used to live we would sit in the mall and mock tourists... or hunt for hot marines.. on a sort-of side note.. has anyone ever met anyone on the amazing race? we always used to wish we could find some of them and "help" them by giving the some VERY accurate directions...

natsukashiiiiiiiiiiii Ok.. when I was really little, like 4 or 5, we didn't have a tv so whenever I visited my grandma, who did, I'd sit and watch nickelodeon all day... :) I'd watch Aah! Real Monsters and Doug and Rocco's Modern Life and Ren and Stimpy for some odd reason.. I really didn't like any of them... (well.. I liked Doug..) And I used to watch GUTS!.. the first one, then global guts... hehe the AGGRO CRAG!!!!! I always wanted to go on that show... uh.. Legends of the Hidden Temple, Salute Your Shorts!, Hey Dude, The Secret World of Alex Mack, Clarissa explains it all, All That.. Merry Melodies/Looney Tunes (I wish they still aired those :'() pretty much whatever was on. Then we moved, and got a tv... no cable though, and I watched Where in the world is carmen sandiego, Power Rangers!!! (I loved that show.. no idea why...) I think I used to watch Beast Wars sometimes.. uh.. Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Ghostwriter, Bill Nye the Science guy, ReBoot, Heh.. I remember seeing Sailor Moon a couple times and thinking it was the wierdest thing... As far as non-little-kid shows went... Star Trek: The Next Generation Xena: Warrior Princess Hercules: The Legendary Journeys Star Trek: Voyager X-Files (how many 7-year olds watch THAT show?? I was a strange child...) The we moved again, and I'd watch Captain Planet.... he's our hero... gonna take pollution down to zero... (oh god now it's stuck in my head... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!) Hmmm.. ah yeah, Speed Racer, Johnny Quest, Dexter's Lab, Powerpuff Girls, Looney Tunes again, uh... blah too long ago can't remember... I watched random MTV top-whatever-number shows... And, of course, They're pinky, they're pinky and the brain brain, brain, brain, brain... I'm sure there were more.. I was practically glued to my TV when I was little...

Hmm.... beaches.. well, they're alright I guess... I've never actually swum in the ocean though, since I can hardly swim, and I'm pretty sure I'd die a horrible salty death. So I pretty much just sit and watch people, or read, or sit in the sun and laugh at the sunburnt people (yes, mean, I know... but lobster-people are funny :) ), or wade in the ocean (if it's one of those nice, peaceful, tiny-wave beaches) Very boring of me... I think beaches are best when you're actually staying on the beach for a vacation instead of just going for a day. If you just go for a day, then you wind up with sand everywhere, and it's no fun... I had sand stuck between the two layers of my swimsuit for months after one particularly sand-filled beach trip... For some reason when it's a vacation, the sand isn't so bad.. but maybe that's just because I get used to it or something...
In Australia we have Pepsi Max, which is the same concept as Coke Zero and beat it to the punch by about, oh, 12 years. And it's delicious.[/color']
Pepsi MAX is nasty... as are all diet sodas.. but that one particularly... :) fake sugar: it's just not the same. I'd say the internets are my anti-drug... or my drug of choice, depending on how you look at it...

7:38 Cho lay on her bed in a pink chenille robe, staring up at the sky and mulling over the events of the past day. This place is so completely not what I expected...The people here actually seem pretty decent, except for that old whatshisname guy... creepy... I need to find out how to keep that pompous old freak out of my head. Hey... she bounced up off of her bed This place has a library, right? Maybe there's something there that can help me! Quickly changing into a pair of cut-off denim shorts and a halter top, Cho grabbed her map from the desk and slipped out her door. ************* My, my, what a small library... Cho thought, looking around for some kind of directory or map to find her way through the rows and rows of books. She didn't see anyone at what looked to be the checkout counter, so after a moment's thought, she pulled her map from her pocket. Maybe this'll work in here too... She looked down at the map, which, thankfully, was now covered with a detailed rendering of the library. This map is a lifesaver... now, where are the books about mind-barrier-type stuff? A little path of arrows appeared on the map, leading up the main staircase and off into the library. That way, huh?... After more than a few twists and turns, some tightly-curving spiral staircases and a surprisingly sturdy ladder, Cho's trail of arrows ran out. She found herself standing in a small alcove, the walls lined with books of all shapes and sizes. This better be what I was looking for... Cho thought, walking over to the nearest shelf. Let's see... 'Your Mind & You'... sounds like it's got potential... 'What To Expect Whan You're Expecting A Mental Attack'?? Whoever named this had a strange sense of humor... Browsing the rest of the first shelf produced a stack of interesting-looking books, so Cho, seeing only some random pillows and such piled in a corner, dumped the books in the corner of the room with the most light, and dragged some of the cushions over, making herself comfortable. I hope I can find something useful in here... That bloody idiot won't get in my head so easily next time! OOC: She ain't going anywhere else today...
I do this quite frequently, mainly because I am able, for some odd reason, to catalogue and retain each and every dream I have had, so that if I ever have it or a variant again I realize that it is the same. (That sentence was ridiculous.) I can't recall all of them while waking, of course, but they're all on sort of an "instant recall" notice for whatever neuron I had stored them in. :p
I don't think I've ever actively controlled any of my dreams.. I've gotten pretty close, but just when I realise I'm dreaming, I stop. :( I do have this tendency to go to the same places when I'm dreaming though... sort of like movie sets or something...
I'm pretty interested in the next chapter though, seeing as Deidara has found a way to counter such a common tactic from the uchiha (What we have seen at least). Thursday, 12:30 ish ..."Yeah right, I'm not going swimming, period." "Well It's not like there's some rule about having to swim at a swimming pool.. the name is most misleading." Cho looked over at Dusty "Well, Dusty? How about it?" "Uh... well, I don't know... Dusty said hesitantly I should probably go to class...." "Oh come on! It'll be fun! Besides, your class has probably started anyway, am I right?" "Well," Dusty said, looking at her watch "Yeah, I guess it has..." "So it's settled then. Your class has already started, Shay hasn't signed up for anything, and I have had more than enough weirdness for one day, so... Cho pulled her map from her back pocket and glanced at it for a moment, then headed off down a corridor. "The pool's this way. You coming?" ************* A few hours later, all three girls were laying on loungers beside the pool, soaking up the afternoon sun. "This place is awesome!" Cho said. "I mean, how many pools come with free designer swimsuits?? she said, looking down at the suit she'd picked from the huge selection in the pool's massive locker room. Dusty glanced over at Shay, who was, pencil in hand, completing yet another sketch of some bit of the scenery surrounding them "Yeah.. This place is pretty awesome, isn't it? Shay hasn't stopped drawing since she sat down!" "No, she hasn't... I didn't think she was serious about that not swimming thing... guess she was, huh?" Cho looked down at her watch, which she always kept on 24-hour time. It read 17:04. "Wow.. we've been out here for four hours." h Dusty sat up from her recliner. "Four? Really? No wonder... I think I'm gonna go get some dinner. I'm starving! Shay closed her sketchbook with a snap. "I'm getting pretty hungry too, so I guess I'll go with you." She shot an odd look at Cho "What about you?" "Um.. no.. I think I'll swim a few more laps. You two go.. I'll catch up with you later." Shay, with a smile, "Ok.. we'll see you. Let's go, Dusty." "Right.. Bye Cho." "Bye..." Cho, slightly confused, stood up and walked toward the pool. As she dove in, she wondered Ok.. what was with that look anyway?Did Shay want me to go with them or not? Blah.. this is why I don't hang out with girls a lot... Oh well.. I'll figure it out later.
I don't have anything to explain to you. You simply decontextualized a statement which was not meant to be taken as literally as you took it. End of story.
I guess I did take it too literally, but it wasn't a very good metaphor. taperson, sorry... I'm done now.
Yeah, and then we got the Iraq War. Sorry, you don't know the context. It's like harping on a crude figure of speech and taking it too literally more or less. Anyway, take care.
Well I guess I don't... by all means, explain.

This "garden" is in an awfully strange place... Cho thought as she headed down yet another dimly-lit flight of stairs. According to this map, it should be just ahead. Who puts a garden underground anyway? I don't think I wanna know what kind of things can grow down here... Maybe I should just go back up... Just then, a faint glimmer of light caught her eye. ...the hell?? That wasn't there a second ago... was it? Cho approached the intricately decorated door that she thought the glow had originated from. The door was nothing like anything Cho had ever seen, covered with a painting of an intricately wrought iron gate and the flower-filled garden beyond it. The sunlight dancing on the little brook running around the garden, the leaves of the trees fluttering in the breeze, and the bees buzzing about the flowers were rendered in such intricate detail that she could almost swear that she was looking out at a real garden. The gate pulsed with light. Holy..! What the hell IS this thing??Her mind raced frantically, trying to make sense of what had just happened There's no way this thing just lit up like a bloody firefly! No way at all! ... But it has to have. I'm standing right here, and I saw it. I did! I'm not going crazy. I don't think.. but what if I am....... The painting pulsed again, almost as if beckoning her to come closer. Cho lifted her hand toward the door, trying to ignore its shaking, and ever so lightly laid her hand against the door, not so sure that it was actually a painting that she was looking at. The instant Cho's hand touched the door, the light intensified, and the door swung open onto the same scene that she had just seen on the door. A few apprehensive steps later, Cho stepped through the door onto a carpet of sweet-smelling clover and looked around her... She was sitting in a hard, straight-backed wooden chair staring at a absurdly dressed, wrinkled old man sitting on what could only be described as a throne. What the?!? What just.. As the old man began to speak, Cho stopped worrying about where she was and how she'd gotten there, and started trying to keep herself from bursting into laughter. Not only were the old man's clothes and office incredibly gaudy, but the way he talked! It was like a bad imitation of Sean Connery! This guy is so full of it... She looked down at her map. Wow, how far up IS this place? Who does this dude think he is? Rapunzel?? I wonder if I could just leave.. this guy would probably keep talking just to hear himself anyway.. As Cho was preparing to slip out of her seat, Joe spoke up from the doorway. This could be interesting... maybe I'll stick around a little longer. ************* About three floors down from the old man's needlessly gilded tower office, Cho looked at the hardwood banister she'd been trailing her hand along. Hmmm... I bet I could... After a moment's contemplation, she grasped the railing with both hands and swung her leg over. Hey! Guys! She yelled to the group she'd been walking with, now about half a level below her. Watch this! And let go. The banister sloped at a pretty sharp angle, and she soon passed everyone else on the stairs, whizzing past window after window at an alarming pace. As the bottom of the staircase came into view, Cho thought Maybe I should have thought about how I was gonna stop... Hmm... you think?? A dry voice cut in. It was Raj. I thought I told you not to talk to me when I was in here.. somebody might hear you. Well you didn't. Ok... well, don't. You never know who might be listening in... Besides; I should probably start talking to some actual people around here... I'll never find out anything useful if I just talk to you all the time. ...Very funny. Oh, shi!! The banister had ended, and Cho half jumped, half fell off of it, landing on the floor a few feet from the foot of the stairs. Well that was fun! See? I told you I'd be fine! Humph! Well don't come crying to me when you break your neck. Like that would happen.. now seriously... no more for now, ok? I'll come see you tomorrow. Who were you talking to? Cho jumped. Quickly recovering from her shock, she shot back Well I think the more important question is who I'm talking to NOW You don't remember me? When we met only minutes ago? Oh. It's you. I didn't recognise your voice without the cheesy accent. Besides that, who I talk to is my business, not yours, so get out of my head. Very well then, but if you ever want to talk... unlikely... Shaken, Cho leaned against the nearest wall and slid to the ground. "Are you ok? You looked like you were going pretty fast. You didn't get hurt or anything did you?" a voice said. "Oh! Yeah, I'm fine.. Uh, you're Shayla, right?" "Yeah, but people usually call me Shay. This is Dusty," she said, indicating the girl standing beside her. "Right.. Shay. Got it. And Dusty. Are you guys signed up for any classes yet? I saw a huge pool when I was wandering around earlier and was thinking I'd go check it out if I could find someone to go with. You guys in?" OOC: Well? Also OOC: DB, if you don't like the accent bit I'll take it out...
Uh. . .do you even know the context in which I said that? Obviously not, because if you had you wouldn't say that. . . Also, Ret. I love it. :)
Yes I do know the context... but the way that people in this country are valued, and the way the system works simply aren't like a third world country. Saying something like that just seems to me like it trivalises the conditions that many people in places like India or Burma, or somewhere like that live in... You talk about the caste system, and how people are "supposed to stay middle class"... the thing is, in this country, they actually CAN move up in the world if they want to.. they aren't going to be hunted down and killed if they break the mold. The status quo may be one way now, but that can, has, and will be changed over time... that's one of the great things about this country.. people can actually make a difference, if they're willing to stand up for themselves. I mean, look at the Vietnam War. All the protesting and anti-war sentiment did stop it, eventually. Sorry about the OOC post.
