1. I'm making the thread right now, everyone. Should be up in 5-10 mins.
2. Ironic that two men would get into a boxing ring and beat the sh*t out of each other to prevent you suicide, eh?
3. Well, I guess this just goes to show that everyone has different tastes... I'm one of the few.. The select few that actually likes FFVIII, heh... Anyway, this is a 'Blitzball being real' topic, and as wel thought this discussion is, I think we should all save it for another topic... ^_^;;
4. Okay, based on what I know about your Roleplaying skills... Here is the entry list. And a big one at that. DeathKnight Shadow Gohan James Cloud AJ2K1 4 Life Majora's Mask Queen Asuka Mist Stormwing Shyguy SuperSayian Desbreko NeoCactuar Congrats to those who made the cut, sorry to those left out, etc etc, now, let's get this party started... *queue 'lets get this party started' by koRn*
5. Actually, SG2002, the Dodo can fly for as long as you want, provided you're good enough. Like me. ::NeoC eyes Flash:: Okay, like NeoCactuar. But still, I watch him alot, so I must be good. And the planes aren't solid, they're hollow... ;)
6. That's a good point Desbreko. MP was the best, an improvement over the Draw system and even FFI's system, where you had a limited number of times you could use a spell of each level, before you had to rest...
7.
Originally posted by James FFIX was probably the single worst FF game ever created (simply due to lack of plot...the plot was so bad, that it screwed up the entire game).
I can't help but agree with you... If it weren't for the horrible, horrible plot in FFIX, it would've been an awesome game... From FFVI onwards I'd been waiting for a Final Fantasy that was more fantasy oriented. Not to say that FFVI, VII, and VIII were bad games, just that they were creeping further away from the Medievil style Fantasy shown in the original games. FFIX had that feel, but just lacked everything else that makes a game good, heh.
FFVIII would come in a close second for that title.
I don't see why so many people don't like FFVIII, really. Bad? Terrible? Hardly. I think it was unique. As much as I'm a fan of the older games, I think it was a good game. Sure, maybe it was only a mediocre 'Final Fantasy', but it was still a great game. I think alot of people didn't understand the junction system... Which I think was quite well done. Total customisation of Characters and spells? Very nice.
The comments about FFX are strange to me, because most people I've talked to believe that it's the best FF game ever produced. Even IGN and other major publications gave it very high scores.
Bah. I think it's just a case of everyone thinking 'Ooh! It's on a third generation console! It has to be good!'. FFX... Ugh. And to think they're making 'side stories' for it sickens me. FFVII was undoubtably the single greatest Final Fantasy of all time! They should make a sequel to that, if anything. Heck, a PS2 remake of FFV or FFI would have owned...
Perhaps it's the fact that it's fairly different...with a lack of overworld map and such.
Perhaps it's a bunch of reviewers drooling over Lulu and Yuna. :P As much as I dislike the game, I gotta admit, those two were fine... ^_^
8. Have you maxed out all stats, mastered all Materia 8 times over, raised the ultimate chocobo, and posses every single item in the game?
9.
Originally posted by DeusTheSnail But FF8 was much worse you can't denie that
Hell no. I liked FFVIII. I like it alot. FFX was just... bad.
10.
Originally posted by AJ2K1 4 Life I found this at FFOnline.com: 'Final Fantasy X Side Stories 05.28.02 Dh For months now, many rumored the possibility of a Final Fantasy X sequel, based on the success of the original title's sales. No concrete information and only fluid details of a continuation, featured in a trailer titled "Another Story" available from the International version, have been the foundation of such speculation. We even asked James Arnold Taylor in an interview back in February regarding a possible sequel, to which he had absolutely no knowledge any plans of production. However, according to a Japanese news site, Square has announced that two side stories are to be developed in a planned saga based on the characters and storyline of Spira after the ending of Final Fantasy X. The trailer on the International disc merely picks up where the cast is left off after defeating Sin, featuring Yuna, Rikku, Lulu, and Wakka trying to figure out what direction to take Spira in the rebuilding process of their society. The trailer ends showing Tidus trapped in a sphere that Rikku later discovers. Both titles are currently and unofficially dubbed "Yuna" and "Rikku", starring the two characters as the primary roles in each side story. Whether their characters independently drive the story, new characters will be revealed, or new abilities and Aeons will exist remain to be seen. At the moment, only the two character names attached to the "side stories" are known to be on the drawing board for Square. Currently there is no mention of any overseas port, nor a solid release date for these titles in Japan, although they are expected late this year' Cool, eh?
how do you say... Lame! God, I so hate square for releasing a sequel to that hunk-of-crud FFX. Gah... FFIX was better, and that's saying something.
11. The APC's boosters kicked in, as the last of the squad arrived. Zero looked back, and saw the rest of sqaud zero entering the APC through the main loading ramp... It closed after them, and Zero moved the APC out... Zero: Should anything happen, I know X can handle it... The APC lifted into the air, and sped out of the garage... Zero wanted this mission over quick. Only two replimasters, and both were elementally aligned... 'Ice replimasters in a Oil refinery? Puh-lease.' he thought to himself... '...this'll be over shortly.'
12. Yup, I'm addicted... Whoo boy... Always have been, always will be, by the looks of things -.-
13. Okay, I think this topic has done its duty... Good luck, G/S/B Master. I'm sure with the help given here *cough*my way works best*cough* you should have no trouble beating XAOTM12 whatever.
14.
Originally posted by James To call ANZAC day "idiocy" is one of the most disrespectful and offensive things I can possibly fathom, as an Australian citizen. The main reason why so many died at Gallipolli, was the fact that the British (at that point), were sitting on another beach drinking tea while our men were being slaughtered by the Turkish Army (who had machine guns...our troops at the time merely had bayonettes). The issue is not whether or not the landing or the war itself was stupid. Many would say that America shouldn't have been involved in Vietnam. And many people do not hold the Vietman veterans (or the ANZACS) in high enough regard, purely because they felt that the situation itself was foolish or inapproprate. But that is completely irrelevant here. We are talking about men who died for their country. They died because their Government told them to go out there and fight for their British comrades. And despite the fact that they were facing overwhelming opposition (how can a bayonette compete with a machine gun?!), they still stood up and took their place...and they died doing so. If you yourself were put in that situation, you would know the horror and suffering that occurred. To make light, or to dismiss this important event in Australian history is not only un-Australian, but is also the absolute hight of rudeness and disrespect.
I'm a New Zealand citizen... And I totally agree James. Very well put... It's hard to believe that so many people died... especially with the small populations of the countries at the time.
15. Gah! I thought Quisty was in your party at that point... Duh... Anyway, with Selphie, you should be able to get 3-4 Thunder/Thundaras for a limit break, I think... If not, just get 'The End' and you'll win anyway! I think...
16. Name: Vincent 'Flash' Verdigris (Thanks, AJ ^_^) Age: 28 Height: 5'8" Race: Human, possibly part Grey Elf. Class: Black Mage Weapons: Oak Staff: A 5' long, smooth, varnished Oak staff. Carved out of wood from the Mystic forest, the Oak Staff is imbued with magic that allows the user to concentrate their magic power, which makes it increase in strength and efficiency. Silver Dagger: An elven dagger made of pure silver. The handle is 3/4 the length of the blade, and can be conceled easily. The blade itself is engraved with many elvish runes, translating into an ancient magic charm. Whether or not this affects the blade in any way is uncertain. Armour/Clothes: Flash wears a blue velvet waistcoat over top of a frilled white shirt. He wears dark grey trousers, and brown leather boots. Over top of this, he wears a thick blue cloak, standard of a black mage. He does not, however, wear the usual black-mage pointy hat. The only armour he wears is a thin ringmail below his waistcoat. Description: Flash has deep green eyes and long, tidy blonde hair. He is fairly small in build, but doesn't seem to care. He is often over confident, arrogant, and somewhat cocky. He is, however, quite well respected, and loyal. Bio/History: Flash was born Vincent Rufus Verdigris, in Drakur. His parents were wealthy land-owners and lords, which made growing up for Flash most enjoyable. At the age of 6, his parents pushed him into an academy, to become a Knight. Flash hated this, as he dislike melee and close combat fighting. You could say he didn't like getting his hands dirty. After 2 years training as a Knight, he ran away from the academy, eventually ending up at the Mage's Guild in Krysst. He discovered Magic, and trained as a Black mage. His Mother and Father abandoned hope, passing him off as dead. He went on to become a fully qualified Black mage, and easily made a living for himself. He now resides in Krysst, making a great sum of money doing on and off work as a mercenary. He still hasn't confronted his Mother and Father, and doesn't plan to. Like he is to them, they are dead. Now... To wait for Warlock.
17. You want strategy? Go to point blank range, and get direct hits with the Pod Missile Launcher. If all four of them hit, and you get a shot in with a Lazerblade, It'll be more than enough to kill anyone in the arena... It works, but I prefer real fighting. ^_^
18. Just smash the crap out of him with Quezacotl, and junction Squall's elemental with Thunder magic, and beat the stuffing out of him with Renzokuken+Blasting Zone. And use Quistis/Zells limits as well. For beating him you get a nifty +40% item (varies from time to time), 50 or so AP, and you get 100 bonus points on the SeeD exam as well, so it's worth it.
19. Excellent game, is that... Something about fully customisable mechs of mass destruction fighting each other in a no-holds barred arena of chaos seems to appeal to me...
20.
Originally posted by iggy hmm xmen is kinda a little kids thing but the violence in it just makes the game worth it!
And Digimon would never be considered a little kids thing, hmmm? Being an X-men fan myself, ya sorta set yourself up for that one, heh heh... Well anyway, I look foward to seeing this new X-men game.. If they're putting it out on all 3 systems, it should be good..
21. Heh heh... I remember, 3, maybe 4 years ago, me and NeoC were up 'till at least 3am figuring out the V-Jolt formula... Nothing like playing RE in the dead of the night, heh heh... Good times.
22. SSJ Gotenks is right... If you don't like Rap, don't post in this thread... I myself don't mind rap... I guess I like some of the older stuff, I'm not too keen on the newer stuff coming out recently..
23. No, they can't. If anything, they could use White magic, like in FFIX for example... But they can't. They summon. That's it. What about in FFIV, with Rydia? She could call monsters and use black magic. When she's a kid, she can use white magic too, but then she loses the ability when she grows up. - Desbreko Oh, and by the way...
Originally posted by Final_Flash 04-03-2002 10:19 PM Thread: 'Maverick Hunters: Replimasters- Dark_Apocalyps, I shall be blunt. Stay out of my RPG. Stay out of all my RPGs.
That still stands, Dark_Apocalyps, until you prove you can do better than what I've seen. :whoops:
24. Well, I think we've really gone to town on this one... I've been planning an Old School FF RPG for a long time, but found no support. After a long disscussion in chat, Desbreko, James, ShadowGohan, Warlock and I finally decided on making a new FF RPG. But not just any old one, a well thought out, long-lasting one. Of course, I did all the hard work. ^_^;; Now, for the RPG. Expect alot, or should I say, expect all of the plot to be developed during the RPG... Now, firstly, the Map... Obviously this will be crucial. Fun fact: Glórethroth is home to the Wood Elves, Thorodor to the Grey Elves. Marak-Zudûl, Kazud-Daram and Thûl are all Dwarven cities. Dhobbs and Othrangul are goblin cities, stolen from Humans and elves. (That's just the way goblins are, damn them...) Time to get into the sign-up stuff. Here are the character classes; Fighter: A well rounded character who is good in all aspects. They don't excell at anything, though. Fighters can use any weapon, and equip any armour. They lack the ability of magic, but make up for it with good combat and melee skills. Knight: The knight is similar to the fighter in most aspects, however, their range of weapons is limited. Knights are excellent at combat with broadswords and the like, and can also use low-level white magic. Paladin: The paladin is virtually the same as the Knight, but utilises low-level black magic rather than white. Black Belt: A martial arts expert, who relies on his fists and feet to attack his enemies. Black belts are very agile, and move very quickly. They have no use of magic, and no need for weapons. Monk: The monk uses a combination of both Martial arts and weapons, such as Nunchucks and staves. They are similar to the black belt, but more reliant on their weapons. Theif: The theif is a very nimble and stealthy character. They use small daggers and swords as weapons, and use various methods to steal from their opponents. Archer: A character who uses longbows and crossbows to attack opponents. Their arrows and bolts are deadly at long range, but aren't so effective up close. Ninja: The Ninja excells at using twin light swords, such as Katanas. They combine agility with stealth, making them very deadly assassins. They usually wear very little armour, if any at all. Samurai: Samurai are similar to Ninja, except they use single longer, heavier swords. They're not as nimble as their lightweight cousins, but make up for it with raw power and the ability to use low level black magic. Dragoon: The undisputed master of the spear/lance. Dragoons are easily recognisable by their dragon-resembling armour, and master crafted lance weapons, which they can use at either long or close range. Berserker: Berserkers are always attired in cloaks and robes made from animal skins. Their weapons and fighting styles seem primitive, attacking opponents randomly with weapons fashioned from animal tusks, bones, etc. They have massive amounts of strength, though, and are often feared. Mystic Knight: Mystic Knights use various types of magic, and are famed for their 'Magic Sword' ability, the ability to imbue a sword with magic, and wield it. They often wear robes over their armour, and are adorned with jewels White Mage: Masters of White magic. Easily identifiable by their white robes with red hemming. White Mages can fully utilise all levels of the healing and curative White magic. But just because their specialty is healing, doesn't mean they cann't hurt you. It just means they can heal you afterwards. Black Mage: Black mages can use the most powerful black magic spells, making them very deadly. Usually adorned in blue robes and a straw or leather hat, Black Mages may appear weak at first glance, but are not to be underestimated. They carry small wooden staves or daggers as a means of defence. Red Mage: Red mages are capable of using low-level White and Black magic, and also the Magic Sword technique. Red Mages can equip a wider range of weapons then any other mages, making them all-rounders. One similarity between all Red mages is the red hat with feather. Blue Mage: Blue Mages have the unique ability to copy powerful magical techniques used by monsters and enemies. This means they can perform a wide range of magic, curative, defensive and offensive. Blue mages have unusually high Magic defence, and can equip a broad range of armour and weapons. Time Mage: Time mages have access to some of the most mystical and powerful spells, most involving bending and breaking of the time flow. Time mages are weak physically, and usually only wield a wand, but make up for with powerful magic, which is defensive as well as offensive. Summoner: Summoners have the natural ability to call creatures and demons, which can cause tremendous damage. The downside to this is that Summoners are weaker then most, and the Summoned creatures take immense concentration to summon and control. Summoners wear green and white robes and have a horn on their forehead. Trainer: Trainers can communicate with wild animals, to the extent that they can control them, and make them attack their enemies. They don't rely on weapons so much, but can equip mostly anything. They don't have any magic capabilities, but when you have a pack of wolves at your disposal, magic isn't always needed. Druids: Druids are experts on healing potions, without using much magic. Their real skill is the ability to create amazing potions and mixtures for whatever purpose they want. Druids may not be the strongest characters, but their potions easily make up for that. Chocobo Rider: Chocobo Riders are the most skilled characters when it comes to chocobos. Whether it be using them as a means of transport or attack, Chocobo riders are very good at what they do. Riders most often use spears and tridents to attack their enemies, like knights lancing on horseback. Bard: Bards are rather strange characters. Instead of using magic or attacking like fighters or mages, Bards play musical harps and sing charms as a means of defense and attack. While it may seem odd at first, the charms are indeed quite powerful, and very useful. Bards use only daggers and harps. Dancer: Similar to the bards, Dancers use strange methods of attack. Using various dancing techniques, Dancers can do... A whole lot of dancin'. And you know that's good for something. They have the 'Dancer's Ribbon', which protects against all status effects. They use daggers and short swords to attack.. gracefully, of course. Poet: I'm not going to lie to you. Poets just plain out suck. Mimic: Mimics are possibly the most mysterious of characters. They have the ability to copy anything they see, hear, or feel. Whether it is through strange magic, or a natural talent, the Mimic's shapeshifting qualities make them very elusive and potentially dangerous characters. When in their 'normal' form, they often wear a cape of some kind. And finally, the sign-up sheet itself. Be creative, but don't go overboard... No Seven-Foot Black mage goblins armed with multiple Buster Swords... As for Races, pick something out of Human, Elf, Dwarf, or Goblin... This is Final Fantasy, remember. Name: Age: Height: Race: Class: Weapons (2 max): Armour/Clothes: Description: Bio/History: That should be sufficient. I want to see nice, detailed sign-ups. ^_^
