  1. The thing that people have to think about is not the small little picture that they have just them self in, but the entire picture. 1: people are going on and on about the health plan and every thing with out understanding EXACTLY what it is and what it would do. granted i dont know it 100% ether, i only know MY system. some say that they should not have to pay for some one elses health coverage, then why do you pay for the police and fire departments? why them and not health care? if its because you dont want to pay for helping to save the life of some one else, BUY your own security guards to sit out side your house, to follow you in another car, to follow your family etc etc. security is taken care of, now what about the fire departments, guess you will just have to buy your own personal fire department, fire trucks etc. any one want to guess what the bill for that one would be? i mean sure some of you might have some coverage under some thing, for now at least, but what about tomorrow or the next day, what if you lose your job and so on and you nolonger have any coverage. from what i understood of the Obama plan, you can keep your company coverage, but you would also get this government coverage too and what not.
  2. that depends on how your system gets set up. if its all payed for by taxes, then it will never be short on moeny because almost every one payes taxes right? so that means you could get more Drs and that would mean less waiting. quality of care, if the government is watching, i would THINK that would mean that the quality would go up, but that could also be a budget thing too.
  3. well we get american news up here and every thing and alot of reporters that tend to compair canada and the states tend to act like we are a 3rd world country or some thing, like when the movie Sicko came out there was a new report about our system from an american reporter giving a real BS story. he was saying that we have lines and people die while on a waiting list and all that only giving the cons of our system, then even saying a few things that were not true. yes we do have waiting lines at a hospital or Dr's office, but that depending on how you look at it is a good thing because every one can see a Dr and go to the hospital and every thing. my dad once when he was in the states X years ago had to go to the hospital, the only thing he had to pay for was watching TV and the food that he DID eat. the way that the reporter was making the system sound like was that it was worse than the american system, so i called him an A** because of how he was saying it.
  4. i agree with you there, just because some *** on the news or some political jerk goes on about the canadian, brittish or some other system, you have to wonder how much of it they edited and every thing. i mean sure, if you look hard enough you ARE going to find people in EVERY system that die on the waiting list, but the real question is how and why? maybe some one on a heart transplant list because there is no match for them, or because of the level of some sickness and they waited too long to get checked out, just saying that some one dies on the list doesnt mean any thing, it happens. and for the american politics, they like to trash canada because for one thing we are one of thier closest neibors and every thing wiht almost = of every thing in some way or another so instead of fixing the problem they just blame us for the most part. but then there is also the fact that most of them dont even KNOW what our system is really like, but because its not american made or what ever, ive noticed that most americans wouldnt give a rats arse what so ever.
  5. i know that the sad thing is that people tend to care more aobut money UNLESS the person is right infront of them and you can see that they are hurt and every thing, like pullling over to help an accident victem on the road or what ever. now i know that alot of people think that its just a bunch of BS, but if you watch the movie Sicko, from what i KNOW to be true, mike more was right about the canadian health system in almost every way that he said it was, cant remember 100% but from what i do, he was right about it. if you havent seen the movie, i really recomend that you do see it, it does make you think about it, and another thing, one of my other friends knew some one that would answer the phone for one of the american insurance companies, he hated it becuase so many people would be yelling and what not, eventually he quit, but once he saw sicko, he wished that he had sooner. but any ways, like i have been saying, depending on HOW your government sets it all up, that health care would be a REALLY good thing to have.
  6. some time ago some *** sent chibbyhorsewoman a not so kind message about this, about her being a RED or comie or what ever. i didnt see the message but the *** was saying some thing about how that kind of health care is a step toward socialism etc and that she should get out of his country. but here is some thing funny if you think about it, isnt that the same system that gives us police and fire departments? no system of ...... well any thing is perfect, system A does X better than system B, but system B does Z better than system A and C. ive also heard alot of people going on about *i dont want to pay for some one else health* but if you were under that system, its not you paying for evrey one, is every one paying for you, yeah thats more of a how you look at it thing but its true. whats more importaint, some ones life or money?
  7. so i have a little bit of back hair, some thing like 5 strands or some thing, not a big deal right. but the problem is that they are hard hairs and they shafe on my neck and shoulders and just really bugs the hell out of me. ive searched on the net using google and ask.com but all i find are stupid adds and a few other things that MIGHT help but cost more than i will have ..... for now at least. so i would like to know if any one knows of any thing that would kill a hair root, like a cloth soaked in peroxide or some thing because im sick of always pulling out the hairs, i just want them gone. can any one help?
  8. Ok being some one that is from a country that has that kind of a health system, granted i dont know it 100% but i have a good idea of what it is. depending on how your government sets it all up will of course depend on how well it works and every thing. here in Canada EVERY one gets covered under the government plan, every one from the oldest homeless person to some one that is rich like billgates, but that system only covers things like your over all health, a broken bone, a heart condition etc etc, but when your treated for what you have and your healthy again its time to leave. we can also pay actual health insurance companies to give us extra coverage, to stay that extra day or 10 in the hospital or what ever it is and if we went to another country and some thing happened there. our system is set so that every one is treated fairly, it is funded by taxes that every one pays, just like with the police and fire department, all funded by taxes, so how would that system run out of money? now again depending on how your system is set up would depend on what would happen in general, but if you guys did have it, it would mean that ALONG with what ever company you are dealing with for your health insurance, you would also be covered by the governments plan so if your oh so favorate company said *no were not going to save your life* in what every, the government would be able to.
  9. so by the sounds of it, you want to have to pay a cop DIRECTLY to say ... investagate the murder of a loved one? you want a bill from the firedepartmen to put out the fire and save your loved ones are in it, right? by that logic, your saying that you should be able to police and provide fire support for your self, by your self. does that really sound right? like i said before, not every one CAN afford to go to a Dr, at least in the states, like my girlfriend said, and we talked about it a number of times just for kicks, but she JUST makes over the limit for what the support system allows for them to give her medical, but its not enough for HER to get medical, its like she makes 1$ too much for them to help her. but if you had a government supported system, people like her and people that are worse off, CAN get the medical treatment that they need with out having to check if they can afford it or what ever, and if its payed for by taxes, you probably wont see a bill. of course that depends on what ever way that your government sets it all up. as for the comment aobut why would a Dr stay, well here in Canada we have it set so that the MORE people that a Dr will see, the MORE $$$$$$ he will get from the government. and again, no system is PERFECT, but if you lost an arm right now, but you couldnt afford to have it put back on, even thou it could be saved with a 90% recovery but what ever insurance you have wont cover it and you dont have the money for it etc, what do you do? say good bye to one of your long time friends? that system might not matter to you or any thing, but look at it over all, think about the sol parents that have to work 2 - 3 jobs just to fee the kids, but because they make that 1$ more, cant be under the health system, the kids are taken care of, but if they get sick, or die because of it, then what?
  10. Being a Canadian I can see this from a different side than some one with your style of health. The style that we have is payed for by Taxes, just like the Police and Fire Departments, they are a service to the public etc. the current system that you americnas have i see it like having to pay a cop to even think about catching a guy that just robbed your place or some thing, or that you would have to pay the fire department to run into the burning building to save your wife and kids that are trapped inside. im sure that many of you would see that as some thing STUPID, so why do it for your health? Granted that our system is not perfect, we dont have enough specialist Drs and what not to treat every one EXACTLY when they need it, but every one gets treated. and when its life and death and its known about in time and every thing, people are SENT down to the states by our system so that what ever specilist Dr can see and treat them. but some people may say that they can afford to pay for them self, well thats good for you, but what about the joe blow that works for you or what ever, the guy that works at walmart stocking shelves or the guy that pumps your gas, can they? i would be VERY surprised if they could, so why should they suffer because your loaded with moeny?
  11. to comment on the health care, no system of any kind, from any thing is 100% perfect, there always has been and always will be some thing that needs to be fixed, doesn't matter what its for. The Canadian health care is not perfect, but it works for every one in that it doesn't matter if your bill gates, or Joe the homeless guy, you get the treatment that you need as you need it. thats because it is payed for Thur taxes, by every one, so that every one can get the treatment that they need because not every one CAN pay $49,000 or what ever for an operation that will save their kids life because of some kind of a sickness. our Dr's get more money for every person that they treat, the more people you heal the more money you get, the more money that your hospital/office gets for funding etc. but the down side to our health care, is that we are short staffed and done have the amount of the equipment that a hospital should have, last time i heard, most of our hospitals only have about half the equipment that they should have and only about half the staff. but that means that if your a Dr or nurse, and need a place to work, if your in Canada you more or less have a job on the spot, sort to speak. from what i have heard about the American one, is that you have the staff and the equipment, but not every one is able to get treated and you end up paying out your wazoo till the end of your days if you do.
  12. would any one know why 2 blank notepad files open up every time i restart my computer or just turn it back on? both of them are called "process"
  13. so every time i restart my computer, i get 2 notepad .... files that open up. both are called process or some thing. i have waited for about 1/2 an hour and nothing comes up on them, they are blank. does any one know why the hell that would happen? has it ever happened to any of you? how do i stop it from happening other than removing notepad from my computer? im hoping its not a virus or some thing:animeangr
  14. personally i like history, mostly because i can look back and see how we used to live and look at how we do now, and because i can only look back so far, it makes me wonder. also it has been said *not in this thread* that if you do not know the mistakes of the past, then you are doomed to repeat them again. as for my personal existence, like many of you, i might never do some thing really great. but my child, grand child, great grand child and so on might. so my personal life goal, is to give my children, and any grand children i live to see, a better life than what i had. now then, I'm going to ask a question here, some may thing its raciest but i in no way mean it that way. so we can kind of guess why black people have black/brown/tanned skin, but why do Asians have more slanted eyes compared to every one else?:animestun i ask this because some one said some thing about sub species, now again I'm not saying any thing in a raciest manner or meaning it that way. now i add this to you all to think about, according to some scientist, we are all related thou VERY distantly, meaning we all came from the same kind of animal/cell or what have you. it is also believed that the land mass of earth was once one piece called Pangaea, so that would have also meant that humans were around or what we came from was around during that time. and because of changes in our environment ranging from extrema heat, to extrema cold effected us all to change in one way or another for that kind of life, food would have also played a part in that. you might just call that adapting, but i think that is a part of evolution, we changed because we had to, in order to survive.
  15. you know, there is a way that we can see evolution happen. look at the past. some years ago, a science team found some .... remains of .... the evolutionary step above Neanderthal but i cant remember the name of it, but its below our current status. they were dated some time close to when the Neanderthal died off, but b4 they did. this meant that they were around at the same time, for a little while ..... hundreds? thousands of years? from what i remember on it, they said that the ..... other kind was smarter than the Neanderthal, used more tools and what not, but the Neanderthal was much stronger than the other one. over all the scientist said that the reason the Neanderthal died off was because of a few reasons. first, they were unable to prepare like the other kind was, they hunted as they needed but never saved any thing In case a hunt went bad and many would have died from starvation or other related causes. because of there lack of tools, they also had problems trying to hunt and used the more direct means to kill the pray. but the other kind, because of there understanding of more complex things, were able to survive because of there ability to prepare. they would save food, use better tools, use traps and so on. you get the idea. i just wish i could remember the name of the other sub human that they were talking about, but i do remember that they found the remains in Africa. oh and if you look at the DNA of our ancestors, and look at ours, then you should be able to see some changes, depending on how old it is. if you can read DNA that old.
