And that also surprises me that Yui was so quick to dump the friendship because she was jealous of Miaka. Miaka got a boyfriend before she did and I think that probably killed her. But Yui has always been ahead of Miaka throughout their lives together. I mean, Yui is way smarter and probably way more popular than Miaka. So I guess it just really pissed her off that Miaka got a boyfriend, so then she goes off and gets mad, starts a big huge war, ends up tearing up half of Tokyo and killing numerous amounts of people, and for WHAT? Because of petty jealously over a stupid guy. What a dumb girl she is....

Okay, about the spelling of Toji or Touji's name, it can go either way. In Japan I believe it would be spelled Touji. It's like Ryoga from Ranma 1/2, or even Ukyo for that matter. In Japan their names are spelled Ryouga and Ukyou. Don't ask me why...it just is...so I usually vary my spelling from time to time.... My favorite couple would have to be the nonexistant couple of Asuka and Shinji, but only because I favor Asuka probably. In the manga the chance of them having a relationship seems greatly increased because there's a lot more moments than there was in the anime. But realistically, I would also have to say the other non existant couple, Hikaru and Touji. They would have been so very cute with one another. And didn't they even grow up together? OH! Now I remember my favorite couple!
It was Kaworu and Shinji! They were so beautiful together, and it made me cry when Shinji killed him because he loved him
...*sniffles*... Now, I did not like Rei...and I think that Shinji had a thing for her....YUCK....

They used to show Saturday Anime at night on the Sci-Fi channel here, but then they took it off for no reason and now they NEVER show anime anymore. It was really depressing for me. I hope they don't do the same thing to you Voodoo...it was a hard thing for me to get over.

GGRRR!!! WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE??? DBZ IS NOT THE ONLY ANIME SHOW THERE IS! NOR IS GUNDAM, TENCHI, COWBOY BEBOP, OR ANY OTHER MAINSTREAM SHOW! GET YOUR HEADS OUT OF THE GUTTER AND GO WATCH SOME REAL ANIME!!!!!! READ THE STICKY AT THE BEGINNING OF THIS FORUM FOR SOME VERY NICE SUGGESTIONS AND GET ON WITH YOUR LIVES!!!!!!!! Thank you... Anyways, back to you Amiboshi, I can't believe that it's such a depressing show...but I would like it because it's depressing. And I LOVE love stories, so I would definately get the entire series so I could see it come to it's conclusion. But I'm glad it's a good show! :)

I was watching a special on TV last night about social cruelty and kids getting picked on at school and it was talking about bullies and little outcasted kids getting picked on. I could just see it now...Some stupid little bully kid that watches DBZ everyday and thinks he's SS Goku goes after some poor little kid that to them looks like Android 17 and starts beating the tar out of him for fun everyday, because "they saw it on DBZ! :D" Yeah...it's so pathetic. Amiboshi, your entire post was VERY true, they do get immune to it. Of course, we can't blame all the bad stuff kids see only on DBZ. There are other anime shows that aren't helping either. Like the Adult Swim thing, I bet a million dollars there are more kids, YOUNG kids, watching it than adults. And so there, they can watch Cowboy Bebop, uncut with all it's blood and glory and guns and cigarette smoking. Cartoon Network should have known better. Of course, they do have the disclaimer, but how many parents REALLY think there's going to be an Adult only block on a kid's cartoon channel? Especially if that channel has been around forever and it's always been kiddie cartoons? I mean, Cowboy Bebop actually has a plot, but it can still be a very bad influence.

Well, no I haven't seen the movie, but I haven't bought any new anime in a long time because I'm waiting until I get a DVD player so I can quit wasting my money on stupid dubbed VHS videos... But once I came so close to buying the Nadesico movie subbed before it was even released officially on video here in America. There was this vender at a mall in Alabama...and I was over there visiting on this school field trip because I'm from Georgia and he had his little stand set up in the middle of the mall. Since I was on a field trip, I had a limited amount of spending money, but the video was only $15! I really regret not getting it. They also had to Ah My Goddess and Card Captor Sakura movies, too. I feel so stupid now...but oh well... Guess I'll wait for my DVDs...

Yui's personality and relationship to Miaka is probably the only unrealistic thing in the story. I mean, they were BEST friends. Of course, Yui blames all of her pain on Miaka...like that time that she thought she got raped, she said that Miaka had abandoned her when in reality Miaka had only changed clothes and she didn't know that three months had passed in the world of the book whenever only a few hours had passed in her world. Yui isn't a very good friend from what you see. Friends should stick together no matter what, through thick and thin, always together and always helping one another. I mean, even friends get in fights and stuff, but what she did to Miaka was just a little ridiculous, ESPECIALLY when she stole Tamahome away...

Yeah, and he likes to ride around on Kagome's back. See, maybe he's going to get more time later in the story. I'm sure he has to play some kind of important part or he wouldn't still be there, ya know? And that new girl, with the over-sized boomerang...I wonder if she's going to stay around for a long time or if she's only a part-time character.

And yet it is still so popular with American children today. It's just that the way kids are being raised nowadays, they don't know what's right and wrong anymore. They think that stealing, doing drugs, having sex, being rebellious, and so forth are the right way to do things. Shows like DBZ in my opinion just add to this. They see it on TV and then they want to copy it. But you never know, I could be wrong. You really are in control of your own life. Just like I don't want to blame videogames and music for the action that was taken at Columbine. But children do learn alot by example....

Yeah, but then you do have to remember, the only reason he killed Tamahome's entire family is because he was so grieved and so sad about Amiboshi dying, which was his entire family, he felt that he had to take his revenge. I feel really bad for him. He was such a sweet guy on the inside...even though he did try to kill Miaka at one point, too. All he wanted was some love and attention like everyone else...and all he loved was Yui and Amiboshi, and he wasn't getting anything from either source. Yui should have fell for Suboshi. He was much better looking than Nakago, even though he wasn't as strong. And he could have supported her with love more because Nakago was just too evil. And he was about her age, too. Did you get the collectable cards inside the videos when you bought them?

Yeah, anime is a pretty healthy hobby I think. Of course, I don't see how you can buy new stuff every weekend unless you have a very good paying job. I haven't bought any new anime stuff since right around Christmas. I never get any money. And then when I had money at my birthday I spent it all on music because I really wanted to hear Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains and I was craving some good music...and I got some Star Wars, too... >.>;; (YESH, I am a big SW fan...teehee...). So yeah, no new anime for me, and I need to get the rest of the FY OVA series. And I also want to see Yu Watase's other work, Ayashi no Ceres.

That's exactly how I am.. Back in the day when I watched Pokemon, I always wanted Misty and Brock together....When I watched Evangelion I hoped and prayed that Asuka and Shinji were going to get together, although that never really remotely happened, but it was hinted around some that it COULD...I liked Escaflowne and I got to see the last couple of episodes, but I missed the entire middle of the series....It was so sweet at the end, though. Of course, DBZ has a love story, right? Or, it could have one. NO..Instead they had to make Bulma and Vegeta be lovers and have a bastard child. What a perfect example they are setting for our young children of today. It's okay to have SEX! It's okay to have KIDS! It's okay to FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT! *growls*

Well, for one thing, the Seiryu Seven are almost all evil and corrupt. Nakago only wants her to be the priestess so he can get the wish to become a God, Soi hates Yui because she thinks she's taking Nakago from her, Amiboshi is too busy being in love with Miaka and his brother, Suboshi is so in love with Yui it's not even funny, so he totally hates Nakago. Ashtare died too quick, so did Miboshi, and Tomo was gay so he didn't like her anyway. And Yui's not charming and cute like Miaka, so she can't lure the affections of her Celestial Warriors the same way. At least, that's my analysis of the whole thing. I like Suboshi's weapon, too. I forgot what it's called although I did know at one point in time. It's really sad how his weapon got turned against him and brought upon him his own death. Of course, it's his fault anyway because he should NOT have killed those four innocent children and their father...that made me cry...

ALMOST gives it a bad name? It DOES give it a bad name....I mean, I figure there are some other guys anime out there and they aren't that bad...I can't think of any off the top of my head because my mind is drawing a blank, but DBZ is the worst. I love girls anime, especially when it's a LOVE story...I'm such a sap for that stuff...why can't that stuff get so popular... Wait a minute, the reason why DBZ is so horrible is because it's so highly rated when it's not all that great of a show...I wouldn't want to American public to ruin another anime series likeso...

I know, that's something that I always think about, is that one fight scene...but of course, she was very scared and it could have been just an adrenaline rush, but then after she met the Celestial Warriors and realized how dangerous everything really was, she totally backed down from fighting for herself and leaving them to do all the dirty work. That's so dirty on her part. But of course, if I had seven men running around trying to save me and all of them were pretty much SEXY and good looking, strong men...I'd probably want to let them go at it, too...(Of course, make that six, Chiriko is far from being a sexy man...) And I see, that you yourself are a very big Amiboshi fan. He was one of my favorite characters! :love2:
-
Yeah I know. He doesn't get much airtime (or whatever) after he comes into the story as an official supporting character, I don't think. He doesn't even hardly get to talk. I don't even think he talks at ALL in Volume 10...and that's as far as I've gotten to read...but yeah....He needs to be put into the storyline more.

That's the thing about Miaka, when she first got dropped into Ancient China, she gets jumped by thugs. And what does she do? She stands her ground and defends herself, not doing a very bad job...she even does some wrestling moves on the guy. But then Tamahome comes along, and BAM! She automatically ALWAYS needs some GUY to be there to protect her. And the thing about Yui, I got so mad at her. She shouldn't like the same guy as her friend anyway, and especially to the extent of stealing him away. If they were such close friends, they wouldn't have that sort of conflict. Yui would be supportive and understanding of Miaka and Tamahome's relationship, you know? I would never try to intrude on my friend and someone she was truly in love with...

I'm such a sucker for romance, I'd probably be more like Miaka and Tamahome...I could go on and on about it, but let's discuss that in the FY thread! :D I REALLY like that cute little fox guy...the one that rides around on Kagome's shoulder...of course, his name has left me as of this second, but he has such a cute FLUFFY tail....I love him...
-
Okay, I'm totally in the mood to discuss this series. I haven't been able to have a decent conversation about it in such a long time. Now, please don't post in this thread stuff like "Oh yeah, I really like that show" and leave it at that. I want some DETAILED opinions....the kind that are fun to read and make you HAVE to reply. My first thing, isn't Miaka Yuki one of the most annoying heroines? I mean, she has her good points sure, but she's always whining for Tamahome...(of course, I probably would be too, but still...) I think the main thing that bothered me about her was her whiney English voice dubbing. I liked her subbed much better...:drunk: So yah...

I don't know how much the drugs cost, but it's probably more than that because you have to keep indulging yourself more and more and more until you O.D. and die. I don't think that anime fans will ever have to worry about that. :D I don't even want to go add up my collection, but I don't think it's that much. Some of the stuff I recorded off of TV, I have alot of movies that I taped from the action channel and stuff like that.

I would not want to slack off all year long just so I'd have to waste a perfectly good summer making up for what I didn't do during the school year. It's almost like having year round school! A Tale of Two Cities...that book brings back such wonderful memories...*shudders violently* I read a LITTLE bit of that book here and there and still managed to pass the test over it...the ending was actually pretty good and I did find myself a big Sydney Carton fan. But lo! I will never be a Dickens fan.

I don't know, that was me back in Elementary school...if I liked a boy, I'd chase him around and beat him up and pick on him and call him names and so forth. I don't know if I'd do that now...unless I was seriously joking around or something. But of course, it's very typical of Rumiko Takahashi to have her characters to that. Look at Inu Yasha and Kagome; Ranma and Akane; Lum and Ataru; it's always the same situation.. Maybe fighting with some guys is charming to them....:drunk:

You're very much welcome, it's always nice to talk to someone who's one the same level and knows what the heck I'm talking about. So basically, Chronicles is just a redone and better version of the original or is it a completely different storyline? Becuase I might be interested in watching it if I know it's better....

The thing about Misato and Kaji's relationship was that it was all passion...totally for the sex...like in Death and Rebirth, they actually show a sex scene...of course, you don't see anything, but it's VERY implied...along with the "sound effects" and everything. She was WAY too good for him, but he was there to comfort her when she needed it. I'm telling you, that's the secret to winning a girl. They need emotional support. I thought it was so sad how the Class Representative (Hikaru?) had always tried to tell Touji how she felt about him, and then the episode where he
almost died in the Eva,
she was sitting there, cooking for him, planning to tell him. That's one of the other reasons it was so tragic, because there she was, so oblivious, only thinking of him, and for all we knew,
he was dead
...just imagine how that made her feel....

I didn't think the story was very epic, I thought it was very corny because the characters were so horrifying. And it was only 6 volumes long, that making it 12 episodes. If they had made it say, 50 episodes instead and added more detail and better plot development and explanantion, then it would have been an epic storyline. Deedlit was cute, though, and so was Pirotess. It was sad she had to die for the man she loved... I don't understand how someone could want to have sex with them either, but I can see how you fall in love with the character because of who they are. They usually have these wonderful personalities that you could NEVER find on a real man in this world, and that's why people swoon over them so much. It's so disgusting to me..hentai anime...I just don't see how that's attractive at all. And that's the only kind of anime that they show on cable channels like HBO and Cinemax.
