I like being around people and being the center of attention, and like Asuka, I have a huge superiority complex...I always have this problem with wanting to be better than everyone else...I have no clue why, and I don't know what my problem is... I think Shinji totally blew it [spoiler]with Asuka when he didn't kiss her back and just let him suffocate, that could have turned into a real romantic moment,[/spoiler] althoughI think that is just my brain trying to make it into something that it wasn't....but I thought it was pretty GROSS when [spoiler]Misato kissed Shinji...she's way too old for him, and that's disgusting...cradle robber...[/spoiler][/color][/size]

[color=crimson][size=1]Yeah, "Down" in such a good song. That's the song that basically made them popular, although I have no clue how old it is. I don't have any of their albums, although one time I had borrowed the old one with Down on it. It was pretty good from what I remember. I like them, but if I ever started craving punk music, I'd just get my fix from Anna.[/color][/size]

[color=crimson][size=1]I thought the gay guy was a girl, too....He was so pretty...such a disappointment, like Nuriko is Fushigi Yugi. (Of course, me being a girl, it's probably so weird that I'm always going on and on about how pretty anime girls are...I just think they're mystically beautiful...) And Takeo, UGH, who could like him? He's almost BALD, and that's GROSS. And Nanaki is too sassy. And Sai is just like Sakura, like I said earlier... Ugh, RoLW, what a horrible horrible waste of anime...just like DBZ...*shudders*[/color][/size]

[color=crimson][size=1]Toji and Asuka...hmm...he's not good enough for her, in my opinion. And that reminds me...the episode where he [spoiler]pilots the Eva and everyone thought he was dead, I CRIED!!!!! I was so sad when I saw all of that happen to him...he was such an awesome character...I was so glad that he lived.[/spoiler] That is one of the most sad parts of the whole show. And Shinji gets all emotional and ah man....I couldn't get over it...When I watch that show I get this little knot of tension in my gut...it's so GOOD!!!!!! Okay, I'm freaking out... Shinji's not outgoing enough, and Asuka is very outgoing, so they balance one another. He needs her, I think. She could bring him up, make him feel good about himself...(if she wasn't so busy criticizing him, but you never know...) ;)[/color][/size]

[color=crimson][size=1]I saw the first volume of that show, and I did think it was CUTESY! But it's not the same kind of cutesy as Nadesico, but it was pretty funny. Especially the gay guy, who was in love with their UGLY instructor guy...of course, I think the main character was, too....(I can't remember any of their freaking names...) I liked the girl with the silver hair that went on dates alot and never really did what she was supposed to...for some reason I think her name was Akane? I don't know, but she was so cute. And that show reminded me of Card Captors for some reason...[/color][/size]

The storyline isn't that bad either, even though Akito's girl situation isn't much different from Tenchi's (and he even has a weird chic named Ryoko after him, too!) But yeah...I like that show...and it's not mainstream...[/color][/size]

[color=crimson][size=1]I know exactly what you mean, but I still like Kikyo better than Kagome. Now, I don't know if I said I don't like Kagome, but I just like Kikyo better. Kagome is just a little lost modern girl in the big back woods of ancient Japan...poor thing. But the thing that bothers me is, these girls always fall for the guys that treat them like crap...isn't that just ANNOYING? I'm sorry, but if some guy was constantly calling me names and making fun of me and practically showing me that they hated me, I would not submit myself to that. That's just my opinion.[/color][/size]

[color=crimson][size=1]I have spent so much on anime over the past couple of years, my collection costs out the BUTT! I have the entire Fushigi Yugi series, and two of the OVAs (I'm not sure how many of those there are, but there's at least 3 or 4...) and that was 18 videos right there! All at $25 each! And then that's not counting the OTHER anime movies I've bought, and all the action figures, and all the manga, and the magazines, and the merchandise, and the TRIGUN plushie...(Ah, I love my Kuro-Neko...), and stuff like that. I'm going to add it up one day. And I know my collection could be a whole lot more, but I'm waiting to start buying DVDs. Call me behind the times, but I still don't have a player yet, and I'm not wasting anymore money on crappy dubbed anime. Except maybe Nadesico...it's so CUTESY! :) Hmm....I wonder what costs more, hard drugs or anime? I know that anime is a better price because it lasts forever and you can get that euphoria anytime you pop a tape into the VCR (or DVD into the player...) but drugs only last for that little while...[/color][/size]

[color=crimson][size=1]Just a reminder, Gundam Wing is a mainstream anime. ;) Anyways, I agree with you, Amiboshi. A good plot with very well developed characters is what makes a good anime show seriously. Have you ever seen Lost Universe? It was so horrible within the first 2 episodes, I couldn't even finish watching the first volume... Now Fushigi Yugi has an AWESOME plot....right from the very beginning you get drawn into the story and the storyline is so intricately weaved, with so much irony and hardship and sorrow, but then it all comes together....*sighs* I think I just made myself want to go watch that show...I've been in an anime rut lately and haven't watch ANY...I think it was all the Star Wars hype, and I'm finally get off of my SW high horse...ANYWHO...The only problem is that the Seiryu Seven never really get developed much past Amiboshi and Suboshi, except maybe Soi a little. Miboshi, Ashtare, and Tomo don't really have much airtime, ya know? But WHY am I discussing FY....I should start a thread for it.... AH yes, back to my POINT....if you find anime with a good plot, you'll go off on tangents about it because it's so good! :excited: And DBZ is lacking so BAD! :drunk:[/color][/size]

[color=crimson][size=1]Yeah, the Instrumentality Project was sort of confusing, you just have to pay attention and seriously use your brain or else you're done for. I've only seen the movies Death and Rebirth and I didn't particularly like the ending where [spoiler]Shinji's sitting over Asuka and he's all choking her and stuff[/spoiler]...I mean, what in the crap is up with that??? I always secretly wanted Asuka and Shinji to get together....I'm such a sucker for romance and that series had it's share of love triangles, but it was never one with Asuka and Shinji. Of course, Asuka was very jealous of Rei...but I think that was just because of her superiority complex. I myself think I have one of those...[/color][/size]

[color=crimson][size=1]Ah yes, it's always so much fun to have an anime discussion, especially with people who know exactly what you're talking about. I loved Kaworu. When Shinji [spoiler]killed him, I actually got emotional. He was such a beautiful character, even though he wasn't real.[/spoiler] That was another part of the series I really enjoyed. I've only seen the last few episodes of the series once, but 1-16 I've seen a couple of times. I'm just waiting to buy it all on DVD when I get a DVD player. And I also wont have to buy it in any particular order because I'll already have seen the whole series! :excited: But yeah![/color][/size]

[color=crimson][size=1]It's just like books vs movies. The books are ALWAYS more detailed than the movie could ever DREAM to be. And that's the same way it is with anime and manga. But what the book can't CONVEY in words, the anime can show you, up to speed, in color, and in style. So both ways are good...[/color][/size]

[color=crimson][size=1]Well, if you have a problem buying Smile because of the looks you get, then just get a subscription. It's about the same price as if you bought it every month and it gets delivered to your door without anyone (except that mailman) ever knowing. :) And I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE the manga, well at least my volume 4. Asuka is so much more cuter, and she looks prettier, and all the pictures are so lovely. And yes, the dancing is even cooler, except on the anime you get to hear the music and so forth. I am such a big Asuka fan. And by the way, that is my favorite episode of the entire series, that dance episode. That's one reason why I was so thrilled to get that volume of the manga. It's the only one I bought, because I had already seen the whole series. I know I'm gyping myself by not getting it, but oh well.[/color][/size]

[color=crimson][size=1]I liked them both alot. And you guys, Spiderman made way more money than Star Wars did. I wasn't disappointed with SW at all....except that it wasn't as detailed as the book was. I was VERY disappointed with the Spiderman plot. Sure, it was an EXCELLENT movie, but nothing compared to the original storyline in the comic books. That's the only thing that bothered me. Anakin Skywalker vs Peter Parker....well both of them were VERY cutesy..it would be hard for me to pick because they both have their advantages and so forth. Of course, me being a big SW fan, I'm definately leaning towards it. :)[/color][/size]

[color=crimson][size=1]I used to want how to learn Japanese, and I still do sort of, but I don't know if I should put that much time and effort into it if it's never going to do me any good in my career. I'm sure I can find the Parasyte manga somewhere...because the sell it...I just can't really AFFORD it, that's my problem. Almost all of my manga fix, I borrow from other people. I do have my own copy of Volume 4 of Evangelion when Lovely Lady Asuka arrives... ;)[/color][/size]

[color=crimson][size=1]No, I've never gotten a hold of Love Hina, but Paradise Kiss is my favorite. I read it in Smile magazine and it's got the most awesome storyline. It's still a love story, but the plot is very creative. I wish that I could hurry up and read more installments than what they have in the magazine once a month! I also like Peach Girl, too. But the storyline is sort of dying out. I'm just waiting to see what's going to happen to Momo, Touji, and Kiley. And SAE...that little whore, too...grr... I also like PARASYTE!!!!!!!!!!!!! That story was SO awesome, but I never got to finish it up because they took it out of Tokyo Pop/Mixxzine....*sniffles* It was the most awesome storyline...and it was so sad when his mother was taken...[/color][/size]

[color=crimson][size=1]When I was younger I was anti-subbed because I didn't feel like reading it, but then I got exposed to crappy voice actors, and I got more exposed to subtitles, and I liked it so much better. I now regret buying the entire series of Fushigi Yugi dubbed...although subbed is more expensive...I haven't bought any new anime in a while because I'm waiting until I get a DVD player so I'll never have to buy dubbed again. It's so horrible....except Nadesico...the voice overs are cute...:)[/color][/size]

[color=crimson][size=1]I totally agree with that...and if there aren't enough people around you who watch anime, MAKE them watch it...let them borrow your videos and yours books and sit around and watch it and then you guys can talk about what you liked or what they didn't get and see if they are interested in it and stuff like that. The only way to get more people into it is to expose them to the real stuff. Instead of all the scary mainstream stuff...like DBZ....*dies* And by the way, I don't particularly like Minmei's personality, but her character was pretty. And she was a beautiful singer. I wonder what ever happened to her in the Macross universe...I heard that she was on a ship that got lost in space and no one ever heard from her again. I thought it sounded like such a good idea. I mean, I don't know how many people there are at my school that would join such a club, but I always thought it sounded like such a FUN idea. Like, every meeting or so, we meet in a classroom afterschool, watch an episode of some series, and then discuss it. It's my dream really...Next year, after this school year, I'll be going off to college, hopefully at the University of Georgia...*crosses her fingers*, and they have an anime club there, I believe.
