GO DAWGS!

 5. First of all, my Legolas rant: I used to love Legolas, especially when the first movie came out. After all the girls fell in love with him and Orlando Bloom became the "thing," I got tired of him quick. When I saw him I almost wanted to roll my eyes, even though he looked very beautiful as an elf. GET OVER HIM ALREADY! YOU'VE RUINED IT FOR EVERYONE, FANGIRLS! *Pulls her hair out* I went and saw it Thursday night and like most of you have said, it really was the best movie I've ever seen in my life. I wanted to rewatch it as soon as it was over, despite the fact that my hindquaters was killing me and I had to go the bathroom very badly. I really had no peeves with the movie and I was really glad that they showed everyone's ending true to the books. Of course, they left out Gimli and Legolas, but oh well. I'm still happy. For those of you who want to know, Legolas builds a boat and the two of them sail away as well. My favorite part was
the Aragorn/Arwen scene. I'm a sucker for romance (and why I'm peeved that Faramir/Eowyn was left out) and so that scene truly touched my heart. Their love was so amazing and strong and he stuck to her throughout it all. He was so surpised to see her and the kiss was just so heartfelt.
And I was on the edge of my seat for most of the movie. I watched the majority of it with my jaw hanging open. It was intense and it was amazing. I went into it not knowing exactly what to expect, and I am very satisfied with how well it turned out. Yes, it was amazing. ^_^ Arwen rocks my socks!!!!!! Oh yes, and Merry is the sexiest Hobbit ever.
 6. You know James, I feel really bad because I'm using the banner you made me and I haven't officially "credited" you for it. I didn't know you felt that way. :( I sowwy.
 7.
Originally posted by ChibiHorsewoman I saw the movie too. I can't say I understood it tho, but I definately saw it. I think anthy was the one with the long purple hair in the movie. Oh, who's the girl who's like an uber beyotch and loves her brother more than what's healthy?
I believe that was also Anthy. Anthy in the movie was MUCH different than she is in the TV series. She had more of a personality and wasn't so dull and almost lifeless. She wasn't nearly as naive either. The movie was just STRANGE. I really couldn't tie it in with the series in any way except that it had the same characters. But I really enjoyed it. As for Anthy being manipulative, Nanami actually suspects that about her, but you really just find out she's just innocent and naive. Anthy annoys me. I guess I'm more into the stronger characters, those who know how to make their own decisions and stand up for themselves. Yeah, she's the Rose Bride, so she has to do whatever the person who is "engaged" to her says, but I think she could still LIVE a LITTLE! *Gasps!*
 8. #1 When did this interest start? When my mom picked up the novel The Empire Strikes Back at an old booksale and I immediately picked it up and read it. I had never seen any of the movies. This was around 1995-1996ish. I've been obsessed ever since. #2 What is your favorite Book/Movie? Movie-I love Return of the Jedi, but I also LOVE The Empire Strikes Back. It's hard decision. My favorite novel is The Courtship of Princess Leia. I swear I've read that book about five billion times. #3 How into Star Wars do you think you are? I love it ALOT. I used to be into it much more than I am now, but I think that's just because I had alot more time on my hands. If I could, I'd go back and start rereading every single book. When I was younger, me and my friends would ALWAYS roleplay SW. I was Princess Leia, Lauren was Luke, and Jeffery was Han Solo. I was also in LOVE with Jeffery, so I always referred to him as "my Han Solo." I guess I though no one would figure it out. ^_^; #4 Do you do anything Star Wars related online, if so what? Not really. I've looked up pictures once or twice, but not much else. #5 How do you pursue your interest in Star Wars here on the boards? I've participated in this thread and I've been in a few SW RPGs here and there. #6 Any general comments, cares or concerns about Star Wars you feel obligated to share? I wrote a hundred fanfics back in the day. A few of them had to do with meeting the characters and things of the sort, but they were hilarious. My personal favorite was one that I wrote as a puppet show, Star Wars at the Beach. I can't find the entire thing now (which upsets me), but I remember how incredibly funny it was. The puppets were precious, too. ^_^

 10. I've seen almost the entire series and the movie. I've seen a couple of episodes of the second season as well. I LOVE Nanami. She is the most funny and insane character of the entire bunch. I like Utena alright, but I really get annoyed by the submissiveness of Anthy. Gah, just slap her around already...bleh. When you see the movie Dagger, because you HAVE to, you will see that it doesn't make sense at all. No, not one bit of sense. But it is VERY beautiful.
 11. I beg you to read the rules. Thread Closed.
 12. I just read about this, and I think it's MORE than silly:
FIRST MADE POPULAR by Madonna and other pop stars in the 1980s, ?jelly bracelets? are making a comeback with teens and some grade-school kids. But this time, there?s a twist: In some parts of the country, they?re calling them ?sex bracelets? ? with various colors supposedly representing promises to perform sex acts in a game called ?Snap.? As the story goes, break someone?s orange bracelet (or purple, in some cases) and you get a kiss. Red, a lap dance. Blue, oral sex. Black, intercourse. And so on. ?They?ve been selling like crazy,? says Andy Ball, a clerk at The Alley, an edgy clothing and accessories store in Chicago. He says he learned about their secret meaning from a group of teens who came into the store about a month ago. Still, it?s unclear whether young people are really following through with the sex acts. And some experts think most youth are hearing about the game from recent news reports, not each other. Snopes.com, a Web site dedicated to exposing urban legends, has deemed the validity of sex bracelets ?undetermined.? ?Every now and then, I get a note from kids who say it is true,? says Barbara Mikkelson, Snopes.com?s co-founder. ?But I get a heck of a lot of e-mails from kids who are outraged that adults think they would do this. To them, (the bracelets) are just a fashion statement.? Regardless, a few schools in such states as Illinois, Ohio and Florida have banned the bracelets. ?It?s about the disruption of the school day,? says Joann Hipsher, principal at one of the schools ? Malabar Middle School in Mansfield, Ohio. She says students were spending too much time ?worrying about who had them, who had been snapping them.? ?SECRET MEANING? Elizabeth Cooke, a fourth-grade teacher in Baltimore County, says she was surprised when a fifth-grader told her the bracelets had ?secret meanings ? one being, if someone broke one it meant you have to have sex.? ?He told me that he wasn?t sure if he wanted to wear them anymore because they were stupid,? says Cooke, whose school allows the bracelets as a fashion item, if they cause no distractions. ?In my opinion,? she adds, ?he shouldn?t even be thinking about sex at all.? But in other parts of the country, teens say no one they know calls them ?sex bracelets.? ?It?s kind of outrageous and ridiculous. I think the media is making an issue out of nothing,? says Kelly Egarian, a 17-year-old from Englewood Cliffs, N.J., who serves as a consultant for Teenage Research Unlimited, a suburban Chicago firm that tracks youth trends. In fact, when the staff at Teenage Research asked its 300-some young consultants nationwide about sex bracelets, they found nothing concrete. ?They knew of a friend who had a friend who had a friend who knew about this,? says Michael Wood, the company?s vice president. ?But no one could point a finger to anyone who was actually doing this.? Other experts who deal with teens and children also believe the so-called trend has been blown out of proportion. A few doctors who treat children and teens in such states as Connecticut, Minnesota and California had never heard of ?sex bracelets.? Meanwhile, Dr. Cynthia Mears, an adolescent medicine specialist at Children?s Memorial Hospital in Chicago, says some of her young patients do call the bracelets by that name. But she says the most they might give another teen who broke one would be a hug or a kiss ? not sex. ?When I ask, ?Do you go there?? they just kind of look at me and go ?Nahhh,?? Mears says, noting that her young patients are generally willing to talk about their sexual activity because the conversations are confidential. Mears is concerned that younger children might hear the sex bracelets lingo and ?think it?s cool.? But regardless of the age, she and other experts say parents shouldn?t freak out. Instead, Dr. Lynn Ponton says the bracelets give parents a chance to talk about sex with their children ? something she says they often avoid or handle awkwardly. ?It offers an opportunity to say ?Hey, what?s the bracelet mean? What are other kids wearing? What do you think about that??? says Ponton, a professor of psychiatry at the University of California at San Francisco and author of the book ?The Sex Lives of Teenagers.? But Egarian ? the New Jersey teen ? advises parents to tread carefully. ?If my parents questioned me too much about the bracelets,? she says, ?I?d probably wear them more.?
So what do you think? I've been wearing these things for a few years now, but only because certain colors match certain outfits. This thing about "snap" is the stupidest thing Ive ever heard in my life, and it sounds like something a bunch of idiot middle school kids would do. Have you heard about this at your school?
 13. I'll do this in survey form, heh. When was your first kiss? It was the summer before I started high school. So I guess I was about 14? Hmm, I guess so. Who was it with? It was with this guy that I was dating named Mark. Yucky. We dated for about 8 months or so...and man, he still sucked at kissing in the end. What was it like? Well, it sucked, as did all of his kisses. Of course, I didn't know any better really, but he slobbered on me. And that is disgusting. But like I said, I had no clue how truly awful it was...bleh. Now, as for me, I've had some great kisses since then. I guess I "learned" how to kiss from this guy I dated named Chris. And then I kissed maybe two guys after that until Ryan. Ryan is an excellent kisser. Very romantic. And kissing turns me on. I guess I'm just a freak like that. ^_^;
 14. I'm selfish like that, but I find myself wanting to share my musical tastes with others. Now that I am obsessed with Mindless Self Indulgence, I've been trying to get people to listen to them for the past few years and open themselves up to something new. Heh, I don't know...
 15. I like Metallica and I appreciate the music they've put out. I think that they are what has inspired alot of current musicians out there. I know a few people personally who credit Metallica for their undying love of music. They put "hard rock" out there better than anyone else really, and they're still around and kicking. Their new music may not be what it used to, but I think that's just how the evolution of things goes. No one sounds exactly the same way forever, especially when you've been around for about three decades.
 16.
Originally posted by Semjaza Azazel My father, for example, rarely looks outside of his box of classic rock. He, unexplainably, has friends his age who listen to Korn, Kid Rock and so forth (how someone in their 30s can relate to the angsty lyrics of a Korn song, I'll have no idea). My dad doesn't like those bands at all, but because of his lack of knowledge on current rock he assumes that these bands are the best the genre currently has to offer, and thus assumes that ALL modern rock is that bad. In that sense, I can't blame him as I don't know why anyone would still keep up with either of those bands (but that's my personal preference).
See, I think that's funny because my parents grew up with the 70s/80s rock, yet they still like and listen to more modern stuff like Godsmack and Green Day. I think it's neat when you can truly sure musical interests with your parents. Now, neither one of them like my undying interest in Mindless Self Indulgence, and they could really care less for Franki's Insane Clown Posse obsession, but they will turn up the radio pretty loud if it's a song we both like. ^_^
Well, I try not to, anyway. The insane amount of Linkin Park love on this forum has driven me to write rants a few times... but they're all in fun and humor for me. Some people take them too seriously heh.
See, I'm a Linkin Park fan, but I really avoid the multiple threads about them, especially when everyone considers them "hard rock" or something of the sort. I like their music, but I think they've sold themselves out too much. Oh well. Edit: My Nanna (grandma) loves Metallica. And she's had to kick the Allman Brothers out of her house before. And she's hung out at a bar with Van Halen. Yeah, my Nanna is one cool Scottish lady. ^_^
 17. Well actually, I have a website where people upload their own pictures and have their own page deal for themselves and it's very organized. You can check it out if you like, the link is in my signature. Yay!
 18. Well, in Psychology I learned that what is familiar to you is what will appeal to you. Personally, I grew up listening to rock music all of my life and so my tastes just sort of bloomed from there. I particularly like early 90's rock (STP, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, etc...), but I can usually deal with most other rock bands as well. I don't like other types of music very much. They just don't appeal to me because it's not what I like. When everyone thought it was "cool" to listen to rap, that's what made it trashy to me. I don't know. I can't analyze myself. Bleh.
 19. Heh, that class is over and I miss it already. It was so fun and I enjoyed learning the backgrounds of some of my oldest favorite bands that I grew up listening to. It was neato. And it gave me even more reason to dislike Elvis. ^_^
 20.
Originally posted by ArieĀ§ I really like hard rock like "P.O.D." "Linkin Park" "Trapt" and stuff like that. What do you think about the oldies coming back?
First of all, POD, Linkin Park, and Trapt are not hard rock.
Originally posted by rttocs77 I think they are running out of ideas for their own songs. It also seems like a lot of people are remaking 80's songs like: Orgy- Blue Monday (was a New Order song) Limp Bizkit- Faith (was a Georgie Mike song) Jessica Simpson and some song she did. There are plenty more.
Most people don't even realize that they are remaking the song. And bands don't just remake songs because they are running out of ideas. They remake songs because it may be a song they liked and wanted to give it their own personal flair. There's really nothing wrong with that idea, unless of course, we're talking about Elvis. [Tangent]Everyone calls Elvis the king of Rock and Roll, but I think that is bullcrap. The songs that he was made famous for were songs that had already been out for years, but they had just been done by black artists. Here comes this white guy along, remakes all the blues songs, and suddenly he's the "king" of this "new" type of music. Give me a freaking break.[/tangent]

Oh well.
 22. I've only seen the Ninja Scroll movie, and it wasn't my type of anime at all. I put that in the categorey of "mature" anime, borderline hentai, one that contains alot of violence, gore, and sexual situations. I've seen it, bleh. I don't think I've ever met a girl who enjoyed that movie.
 23. Well, I haven't read any Star Wars novels in so long, I feel a bit rusty, but I think this will be fun nonetheless. Many beads and feathers shower from tiny strings. Ship: The Angeldust Description: She is tall and slender, about 5'7" with long black hair. Her eyes are a piercing green color. She wears the traditional garb of the women of Dathomir, a short and revealing red dress made of sparkling scales, a belt of silver, and matching armguards. She is adorned with a headpiece with tiny glittering beads that fall gently on her forehead. She also wears knee-high brown leather boots. History: Though she is from the planet Dathomir, she was transported away when she was very young and does not remember what it looks like. It is a dark and hidden planet now, taken over by evil, and so she has no way of ever returning. Her mother, who helped her escape, keeps her dressed in the traditional garb. Tamaria knew that she was special in some odd sort of way, but she could never quite put her finger on it and her mother told her to forget all about it. She now lives on Coruscant, working for the government there. Personality: Curious and enchanting, Tamaria is friendly to most of those she meets. She may seem vulnerable and innocent, but that is how she catches people off-guard. She's got a fiery personality and loves to indulge in gambling, especially when the stakes are high.
 24. My favorite board game hands down is Monopoly. My family goes through bouts where we'll play everyday and then we wont play again for months. And it's no fun to play unless you have a LOT of people playing. The more the merrier. ^_^ And I just got the University of Georgia version, Dawgopoly, so we've been playing quite a bit lately. ^_^ I also am entranced by Pictionary and Taboo. Those are very fun games that I used to play when I went over to my Aunt Kim and Uncle Ace's house. I miss those fun times, but I will never forget how much fun I had. Monopoly wins! I think we should have an OB Monopoly tournament. I'm the banker! ^_^
